Reviews for Mitsui Garden Hotel Okayama

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:Extremely close to Okayama station (4 minute walk), good free Wi-Fi throughout hotel, room was spacious enough and comfortable for two people with big suitcases (we had the double room with full size bed). The bath upstairs was nice for relaxing after a long day but does get pretty crowded at night.

Review 3:Nothing really related directly to the hotel but the busy periods for the hot bath on the top floor made queuing up for the 6 available individual bathing areas rather unenjoyable (avoid bathing rush hour) and there was the smell of smoking going on in one of the rooms on the non-smoking floors. Both more related to guests than the hotel...

Review 4:The service was excellent and efficient, it was very close to Okayama train station, the rooms were compact but nice, and the breakfast was good.

Review 5:Hotel is not big but roomis modern, big and cozy. Staffs are nice with smile all the time. Breakfast was good. Location is nice and just backside of Granvia hotel. Enjoyed to stay there.

Review 6:There were strange smell when we got in the room, but the smell went away after we turned on the air-condition.

Review 7:Close to train station and Aeon Mall. Breakfast was very good with varieties.

Review 8:The room was air- conditioned - a plus but there was insufficient adjustment to change the temperature and the window was locked.

Review 9:A modern hotel designed for the Japanese businessman with bonus public bathing facilities. Rooms are small but comfortable with a seating area. The hotel is very convenient for the traveller as it is only a few minutes walk from the transport hub and close to many restaurants and shopping facilities.

Review 10:Our room was very small that it's hard to open suits cases.

Review 11:I didn't realise my breakfast was included with that price, I enjoyed both Japanes and western style breakfast.

Review 12:Near JR Okayama station only 2 minuites walk. Breakfast is variety and delicious. Public bath on 10th floor is good for us after we had a long day travel.

Review 13:Our stay at Mitsui Garden in Okayama has exceeded our expectations. Its location is within walking distance from the train station and the Aeon shopping mall which food floor had a great selection of sushi, hot foods items, bakery items, etc. Breakfast at the hotel was very good. Our room was larger than the rooms at other hotels that we stayed in Japan.

Review 14:The air-conditionning system doesn't work in the bed rooms (around 28°C) difficult to sleep but is working in the corridors!!

Review 15:Nice room, not very large but comfortable. Excellent location at 3 minutes walking from the train station and in front of a big shopping mall. Breakfast buffet correct with Japanese and continental options.

Review 16:Not at all

Review 17:locationwise......super, close to JR station and shopping area with many restaurants nearby. Services are great in general and staff are helpful and knowledgeable about the city. Breakfast is excellent with many choices of tasty "Asian food".

Review 18:The morning buffet was very disappointing. Most were pickled preserved foods and the cups and the tableware were quite dirty and sticky. One of the waitresses was wearing a very dirty uniform with a lot of what stains. Foods were also very average definitely not worth trying. Untouched areas of the room such as the lamp shades were quite dusty, the room could be cleaner.

Review 19:Pretty close to Osaka Station and they provide free shuttle service. However the shuttle was so small that it could not fit in luggages. Room was modern but having the sink outside the toilet is a little Weird IMO.

Review 20:The toilet was dirty that there was some blood or red colour dirt on the toilet seat. Some small bugs were on the ceiling of the toilet. Also stains on the bedding. Changed the room, the toilet was cleaner but there were still the bedding stains.

Review 21:Price was OK and location was good

Review 22:we stayed here for 2 nights. the room temperature was at least 28 degree, no air or circulate wind at all. They claimed for eco , the hotel rooms' airconditioner were centrally controlled. the can't do anything. they allowed us to open the window, but the street was too noisy we wouldnt sleep at all.The pillows was too soft and flat that caused us headache next morning.

Review 23:breakfast, hotel location

Review 24:Pillows were Japanese bean style which were kind of hard and not comfortable. Room was pretty hot due to the central heating which was on even the outside temperature was around 18 degrees.

Review 25:Great location and close to Aeon mall Okayama

Review 26:None Only stayed overnight

Review 27:The hotel was located close to major rail station and cost per per night was reasonable. Breakfast was of a good standard and rnage of foods. Very Pleasant

Review 28:5 minutes' walk from the station and plenty of good shopping and food in the area. 10th floor common bath is nice but nothing special. Free massage chairs on 10th floor are great.

Review 29:They put they heating/AC in winter mode (no more cooling) with 25degrees temperature outside. With the sun on the room it became too hot. Be carefull booking in fall/spring.

Review 30:location

Review 31:Four minute walk to station with baggage. Staff were very pleasant and professional. Room was adequate in size and facilities modern. Enjoyed the bathing facility upstairs.

Review 32:Staff was very helpful when we needed some bandaids. The onsen is quite small, but nice. There's a very nice street nearby with a lot of cozy restaurants.

Review 33:Staff was so helpful & friendly, room was bright & comfortable & very close to station. We especially liked the onsen on the 10th floor. The buffet breakfast was especially good.

Review 34:Entrance do not have special landmark. I have make one round of the building to look for entrance.

Review 35:Great location close to JR station and spacious room as compare to others hotel in Japan. Having public bath which represents well of Japan culture.

Review 36:Cramp and small rooms. Crowded public bath, only managed to bath there once during our 3 night stay.

Review 37:Convenient location with a supermarket and 24 hour convenience store. Excellent, English speaking staff.

Review 38:Although it's a bit pricey, but that's fine.

Review 39:Best Breakfast ever. You get an essence of Japanese authentic and modern cuisine at the same time. They provide Hiroshima local-made rice for guests. Please try their breakfast. Hot spa (Onsen) is OK, but it's rather small. Very crowded at night. Location is 3 minute-walk from Okayama station.

Review 40:No good restaurants nearby. Lobby has no personality.

Review 41:Great location for access to the train and city center. Compact room. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 42:Nothing bad to say - just funny how popular heated toilet seats are everywhere we went in Japan

Review 43:Hotel is a two min walk from main train station which allowed us to save on travel cost and get maximum use out of our Japan Rail Pass. Excellent level of cleanliness, modern and friendly staff always helpful. Great buffet breakfast.

Review 44:The location is great, very near the train station. The room is spacious and equipt with everything one might need during the stay. It has a small but very nice onsen on top floor. Staff is friendly and speaks english. I would recommend it.

Review 45:No particular aspect.

Review 46:Hotel is well located, next to JR station and AEON shopping mall. Also offered a public hot bath - a most welcome facility after a full day touring around the city. Most definitely, will be pleased to make a repeat visit!!!

Review 47:We chose this hotel because of its next door location to the train station, so we could freely travel to surroundings. The hotel turned out to be very stylish, comfortable and cosy. The room (for Japan) is fairly spacey! The bathrobe for the in-hotel use are of high quality. There are tea supplies in the room. We ordered shiatsu massage. The man who did it - was a super professional and it was a total joy! Highly recomended! The only 'but' about it is that they don't cover the bed in your room during massage and you and the massager in outdoor clothes are on it... I would recomend them have a special cover for hygiene purpose. Breakfast was quite generous. Varied from miso soup to cornflakes. We liked our stay at this hotel and once in Okayama we will stay here again.

Review 48:The hotel is located within a few minutes walk from Okayama Station thus making it very convenient for visitors for shopping, food and transport to places of interest in the city and to other neighbouring places like Kurashiki. The receptionists at the front desk are friendly and helpful. The room is quite small though. However, I must say the breakfast is good with a widespread of both western and Japanese food.

Review 49:Close to the station (convenient if you want to go to Naoshima), room a little bit small but very clean and tidy. The big + is the onsen at the top of the building, small but traditional (W and M separate, onsen in wood and stone) witch is open late (perfect after walking all day long). We recommand this hotel if you want to stay in okayama.

Review 50:The staff is very kind. The hotel is really confortable and very near to rail station. If you want to take Okayama into consideration as a base for other destinations, book this hotel!

Review 51:We loved the room, it was quite big, comfy, modern. Breakfast was rich. It offered both local as well as european cuisine. The receptionist lady was very friendly and polite. If you don´t use the toothbrush, razor etc.offered by the hotel they will make a donation in your name. On 10th floor public bath was avaiable.

Review 52:Perfect Very Close to the station, clean, nice staff, comfortable and quite room You can do the laundry while soak your tired body in a nice atmosphere ofuro Nihonrashi I appreciated very much the stay and recommend the hotel

Review 53:3 laundry machines and 3 elevators for about 350 rooms is not enough For business hotel. I could not do the laundry because machines were occupied all the time.

Review 54:Breakfast is excellent.

Review 55:The pillow was extremly hard for some reason.

Review 56:The hotel is located right on the train station. It is modern and new, the room wad clean and comfortable. Overall, a great choice for a stay near the train. We were very pleasantly surprised!

Review 57:I do not like plastic set of toilet. This gives me a sense of cheapness.

Review 58:The location is pretty good. Customers of the hotel enjoy quietness of nights and convenience of traffic as well.

Review 59:Nothing, my benchmark hotel during our stay in Japan!

Review 60:Right next to the station. and a short walk to the Aeon Mall and main city area. Room great size, very comfortable. Staff excellent and very helpful. Public bath, epic massage chairs a bonus!

Review 61:There is a funny smell in all the three rooms we booked. Despite using the ION air cleaner you still get a whiff of it. I cannot pin point what it was exaclty.

Review 62:This hotel has everything you could possibly need. For the amount we paid and amenities this has earned top rates in my book. Perfect base for trips to Shikoku, Naoshima, Hiroshima, Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto and around Okayama if you get JR Pass ( Kansai Wide or other such passes ) Food and acommodation fairly priced compared to Osaka and Kyoto. If you do not mind the train travel. Aeon Mall just behind the hotel, fruits, milk and restaurant all very good. Can't wait to go back and explore Okayama and nearby sights next time. Rooms are small but well equipped, the Onsen on the top floor is a welcome respite after a day of sightseeing.

Review 63:1) Breakfast: a. large selection meals, yet targeting almost exclusively the local palate - which is fine if you're Japanese or a visitor keen to explore local exotic tastes; shouls you however wake up with slightly more conservative cravings (as we did, after 6 weeks of travelling) then you're choices will be somewhat limited. b. very large hotel + fairly small dinig room = people queueing for admission to the breakfast room). 2) room small (normal for Japan), yet not very smartly designed, very limited storage space

Review 64:location 2-min walk from the Okayama train station, easy walking distance from the Castle and Garden; clean, professional staff, safety box in the room, osen in the hotel = standard chain business hotel

Review 65:I booked due to location needing an early train out the net day, I have an 18kg backpack do this was great. I didn't know about the onsen when I booked, so this was a bonus. I used the wifi to watch a bit of YouTube as the TV was a bit exp.

Review 66:N/A

Review 67:This hotel is a quick three minute walk from the hotel station. (Go out the EAST entrance. If you go out the west you will get stuck on the other side of the tracks.) Staff was wonderful. Hotel room was clean and spacious. Onsen was clean.

Review 68:Breakfast in the cafe was quite busy even at 7:00 am. Sometimes you had to wait to get food because they'd be out of something and hadn't brought out more. A lot of busy people going in & out in a hurry.

Review 69:The public bath was clean and my daughter & I enjoyed it. There were usually at least 4-5 people in there with us.

Review 70:Late opening of the large bath. It opened at 0600 and it looks like grand central station with crowds of people. Think most were business types who had to catch an early train. Opening at 0430 would have alleviated the situation.

Review 71:Excellent location very near to the station. Hotel had a well designed large bath, free computer, elevators with security access to guest only, and large comfortable lobby.

Review 72:Great location next to the train station. This is very handy for the day trips we did to both naoshima (art island) and kurishiki. It's still a shirt stroll into town too and easy to get to the gardens and castle. Breakfast was great! Staff were really lovely and the room was clean.

Review 73:- pillows were very like flat bean bags - room bathroom small & very dated - lobby smells a bit of smoke

Review 74:- location (walking distance to Okayama stn) - room (deck & bed) & hallways are renovated

Review 75:The modern contemporary room design looked not only sleek but also very practical for putting things and using Wi-Fi at desk space. Excellent breakfast and ideal location for shopping and access to any transportation.

Review 76:What's not to like? The room could have been bigger, but the beds were more than big enough!

Review 77:Next door to JR station. Inexpensive bike rentals around the corner. Great breakfast buffet. Very competent and friendly staff.

Review 78:Nothing to mention!

Review 79:Great rooms (big enough bed), large public bath on top floor looking at Japanese garden. Very close to Okayama Station (2 minute walk). Breakfast selection included Okayama-made food choices

Review 80:Slightly strange smell in the room, was offered alternative but no more twin rooms available

Review 81:Convenient location near the station Fantastic value breakfast, quality and choice of selection was excellent Nice, modern public bath

Review 82:A little bit noisy if you open the window.

Review 83:Fantastic location near the JR station, bus station and the streetcar terminal. Close to a lot of eating places.

Review 84:We requested a late checkout and was put on hold while the front desk staff verified with a manager. We were then told that it was approved and we could stay till 1pm. At no point were we informed that there would be a late checkout fee imposed. If we had been given this information at the time of our request, we may have chosen to check out at the stipulated hour of 11am instead. However, upon checkout the next day, we were asked to pay surcharges for staying till 1pm. We explained to the front desk staff, but rather than waive a mere 3000 Yen, they simply stared at their computer screen and avoided saying anything. We asked if they are insisting on this charge and all they could say was "sorry, yes." This is a big negative for the way front desk has handled this situation. I've stayed in countless hotels and would have been more than happy to pay the extra charge had we been informed in the first place. It seemed the staff had more fear for their job security than a willingness to resolve this amicably with us. There was absolutely no understanding extended to us nor was there any acknowledgment that this could have been handled in another way.

Review 85:The pillow and the bed are the two best things in this hotel.

Review 86:Staff, while friendly, was too busy with everyone checking in to take the time to answer any questions.

Review 87:Directly at the train station, so it's perfect for anyone traveling by train. Perfect business hotel, but nothing more than that.

Review 88:Not being allowed in the public baths because I have tattoos (I'm aware this is standard in Japan, it just feels SO dated now and surely hotels could dispense with this archaic rule?!).

Review 89:Free breakfast was a huge selection and really nice. Everything was clean. Very close to the train station, and to the Aeon mall which is a great shopping destination.

Review 90:Travelled in winter, and the hot communal bath on the 9th floor was great after a cold day of travelling. Hotel is very near the bus terminal and main station Value for money for 2 people, only slightly more expensive than staying at a hostel, with full hotel amenities provided.

Review 91:I like the room. Very clean, staff was kind to assist.

Review 92:Near train station, malls if you want to shop... Cinemas if you love to watch movies. So much restaurant around if you want food trip.. It's very convenient to stay here

Review 93:The review said they offered money exchange, when we asked they said they couldn't do it.

Review 94:I enjoyed the breakfast and closeness to Okayama station.

Review 95:-to have good price we had to book the 3 nights from one day to another at the last moment because the rate are changing a lot ....

Review 96:- sento - excellent staff

Review 97:the room is very smelly. not smoke bad bad smell. We use whole bottle air fresh but still bad.

Review 98:5 min walk distance to train station restaurant around

Review 99:The location : very close to the station, very quiet though. Very good breakfast, you can choose Japanese or western breakfast. Very nice and helpful staff. English spoken. The onsen is obviously worth a try.

Review 100:Tv could have more channels (even local ones are quite limited)

Review 101:Common bath is super nice and the free wifi works perfectly. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 102:- Breakfast not included, however good to allow customer to decide (and make the room tax cheaper)

Review 103:- Location: close to the station - Very clean and good bedroom - Polite staff prepared to assist customers - Complete: computers available in the lobby, wi-fi in the bedrooms, onsen, offer good breakfast

Review 104:First time in my life I have met very rude staff in a hotel in Japan, who on top of everything told me straight in my face they did not care about customer complaints!

Review 105:Location

Review 106:Nothing, was our best hotel deal in Japan.

Review 107:Onsen on last floor with free massage chair Pretty large room for a business hotel, room 614 even had enough place to have a little couch next to the window. Very central location, Large good buffet breakfast for only 1000 yen per person. Excellent staff, very efficient, good english skills

Review 108:The hotel is very close to the JR Okayama station, and there are also several bus stops in the area. There are a few shopping complexes just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The room was ok - it had all the amenities and was overall comfortable, very clean and efficient. Quite a lot of restaurants and cafes in the surroundings.

Review 109:Very nice onsen. Fantastic Japanese breakfast fully worth its price (1500 Yen). Location near to station. Good beds (as usual in Japan).

Review 110:Location is really great, after shinkansen drop off the hotel just outside the station few minutes walking. Depend on where of the area you would like to go, its always good to know the train station is just a walk away. Room was clean and although small it was fairly priced and have all basic amenities provided.

Review 111:We stayed in a twin bed room. The rooms are quite small, even for two lightly packed travellers...

Review 112:In general, the staff is very nice and helpful. The hotel room, albeit a bit small (but was told this is Japanese standard) is clean. I absolutely love the clothes deodorant in the wardrobe. Works like a gem.

Review 113:Room small - and I booked biggest available. Non- smoking but could smell smoke through the air conditioning.

Review 114:Good breakfast, close to station, ticked most boxes.

Review 115:Nothing about the hotel. But the GPS system in our rental car take us to the wrong place for the address. Google map got it right.

Review 116:The location is very near JR station. The parking services is good. Hotel staffs A++++.

Review 117:The room was small but not the smallest this journey. We didn't have any view: outside our window was another rooms window. The breakfast buffet was a bit small, not that many choices for western food.

Review 118:The location of the hotel, next to the station was really convenient for us, since we only had an overnight stop here. The hotel had a really nice public bath, which was situated at the top floor of the hotel, with a great garden view! The hotel also has really nice washing machines with a dryer built in. Really convenient for us. They stored our luggage for us the next morning so we could visit Korakuen garden (which is really pretty).

Review 119:too expensive

Review 120:hotspring

Review 121:hot dishes in breakfast buffet is too little

Review 122:near JR station

Review 123:Public bath, breakfast selection of Japanese food, close proximity to the station.

Review 124:No

Review 125:Very near to the station and there is Aeon Mall just across the road. The female receptionists are very helpful. The breakfast is very tasty.

Review 126:The pillows

Review 127:Great location
