Reviews for Hotel Continental
Review 1:The location is a little desolate if you are on foot and alone at night walking back to the hotel. Also, be careful of shady cab drivers in the city. Our driver took a 'scenic' route bringing us to the hotel from central station. Should have only been a €10-13 ride, but it cost us €21.
Review 2:This hotel is basic but comfortable. The showers are very good. The staff are nice and try their best to help with anything you need. I highly recommend letting them arrange a cab for your arrival to the hotel from the airport or central station. We let them do that when we checked out and had a great driver and no issues.
Review 3:The location is great to take a ferry but that also means it does not have the best surroundings or placed on the best street. However the city centre and the main museum are just a few blocks away
Review 4:Great quality for peice. Stuff were taking good care of us providing suggestions and support
Review 5:This is a great little hotel, close to both the Lido Station and ferry to Sicily. This modern, clean and quiet hotel has everything you need at a price that that represents excellent value. Breakfast is good, as is the wifi signal. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms at the back have a view across the water to Sicily.
Review 6:No kettle and a cleaner let herself in despite the "do not disturb" sign on the door.
Review 7:Friendly staff and incredibly clean with excellent bathroom facilities.
Review 8:Lobby area not very inviting - ants on the check in desk. Continental breakfast basic. Wifi only worked well in the lobby - unable to access in the room. Will need to drive somewhere to find dinner but you won't find parking
Review 9:More modern neighborhood - close to port - staff very helpful. Street parking okay. Decor rather bland but beds comfortable - chair to sit on! Large bathroom - lots of hot water for shower. Excellent value
Review 10:It was close to the port but the street and the area was really dirty. There wasn't any spectacular view from the windows.
Review 11:Delicious breakfast but it was a bit expensive. The room was big enough for three people and the bathroom was really clean.
Review 12:Such friendly staff makes all the difference to travellers thank you especially to the beautiful young girl at breakfast who also made us the best coffee each day
Review 13:excellent position in Palermo, at 20 meters from the bus stop, with a parking just opposite the hotel, very convenient in everything, spacious rooms, excellent air-conditioning, optimum cleanliness, they changed towels everyday, excellent value for money
Review 14:Hotel Continental is located next to the port in a peaceful and safe street. Town center is just 5 to 10 minutes walk. Buffet breakfast was very good with a great choice. Staff is kind, always ready to help and provide any information in excellent English. Our room was clean and spacious. AC was efficient.
Review 15:The room has everything you need, is clean and silent. The Hotel is very well-located if you take the boat to Messina. Is also very closed to the beach. I only stayed one night but I really recommend it.
Review 16:Rude employee on front desk on arrival after 35 hours in transit. Tried to charge us a higher rate than what we booked on booking.com. Single beds made up into a double and uncomfortable.
Review 17:Location was great but out experience was soured by the rude employee. We tried to doeak italian on arrival and we did not need his attitude after 35 hours of travel to get there. First exoerience of an Italian not great. Breakfast was good.
Review 18:The staff are friendly and very helpful. We could park right outside the hotel. We enjoyed being within easy walking distance of the beach, promenade, shops, museum (the spectacular Riace Bronzes) and restaurants. This hotel is exceptionally good value for money.
Review 19:Not a great location, on the outskirts of town in a slightly shabby area, with not much of interest within walking distance.
Review 20:Great value for money. A comfortable room, good quality hotel, good WiFi in the room. Would have stayed longer if the location had been better. Perfect in all other respects.
Review 21:While convenient, the immediate area could best be described as "industrial".
Review 22:This hotel is excellent value. It is located a few yards from the ferry terminal, making it very convenient for those travelling from Sicily. The (continental) breakfast was particularly good - something for everyone.
Review 23:The room was a little bit small, but cozy. But loved it that you could open the windows and let in the sea breeze and loved the view of Sicily and mount Etna from the room. Ask for a seaside view!!
Review 24:We really liked our room, which had a beautiful view of Sicily and the sea. You could open the windows and let the breeze flow in and the weather was perfect. Breakfast was amazing. They had all kinds of croissants, including chocolate, with cereal, plain yogurt and pineapple and peaches, other fruit, buns, butter, cheese, meat, pies and cakes, pastries, juice, and coffee. It was really good and filling. Also, the hotel was literally steps away from the ferry to Sicily and also from the lungomare (seaside promenade), so it was very well situated and it was easy to find places to have dinner. The room had a fridge, stocked with water and soft drinks, which we took advantage of. And the staff was friendly and helpful and they provided maps of the area for us. Also the hotel was only about 45 euros a night as we got a value deal, so it was really a fantastic price!! They said that breakfast would be 6 euros each, but in the end they included it in the price and also didn't charge us for soft drinks. Great stay!!
Review 25:No complaints
Review 26:Room was comfortable and staff are very helpful and friendly. Location was perfect - right next door to the ferry. Great bathroom and breakfast is excellent.
Review 27:The air condition units on the balcony made lots of noise at night, even with the door closed. Check out at 10 am is too early!
Review 28:I was pleasantly surprised to find a hotel with everything I need to a reasonable price in Reggio, usually hotels are quite expensive in Italy. The location is good, next to the ferry terminal and close to city centre and Lido railway station.
Review 29:The area of the hotel is dark and far from restaurant. If you cross the detroit to get to Sicilia with a car, your are not in the good city. You have to drive to Villa San Giovanni (30 minutes) to take the ferry with car.
Review 30:Nice view on the detroit. You see the island of Sicilia from your room if it is on the sea side. Room and bathroom ok. Nice welcoming, help from the staff ok. Good ««Italian»» breakfast.
Review 31:- Not alot of variety with breakfast

Review 109:The staff was very helpful. I really liked the size of the room, theview was also very nice.
Review 110:This hotel is outstanding value for money. The room was pleasant and clean, with a wonderful "massage shower". The breakfast buffet and coffee were outstanding. Location is excellent, only a minute's walk from the port yet close to the main street and the Lungomare. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Highly recommended.
Review 111:We have to park our car on the road. Staff don't pay any attention to it.
Review 112:Staff and facilities are wonderful. The hotel locates the edge of the city and near a port. It is more or less a deserted area. No restaulant nearby.
Review 113:Wouldn't change a thing. We always stay in this price range on our trips to Italy and Hotel Continental is a star.
Review 114:Wonderful breakfast and kind staff (thank you Dominico!), comfortable bed and roomy well appointed bath. Very near the pedestrian ferry to Sicily which was our reason to choose. The street the hotel is on leads quickly there, but feels residential and has beautiful fragarent trees lining it. No hustle-bustle near hotel. We'd happily stay again.
Review 115:Didn't realize the location was down by the ferry dock. Closer to Lido terminal than Central terminal. Long walk from city center and if you were to accidently venture the wrong way you would not be in the best parts of Reggio. Reggio did not in my opinion live up to it's hype. Parts of the city walking to see the Bronze statues at the museum were just filthy with trash and smelled. Didn't feel safe in some areas. Once you hit the 12 things on the map that was pretty much it to see. There are good restaurants around and the bar scene after 10:30 pm is very good if want to go out at night.
Review 116:Staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Nothing fancy about the hotel but for 1 or 2 nights was a very good deal for the money.
Review 117:When looking for a Hotel in a location I have not previously visited the two important things to me are location and price, Hotel Continental excelled in both these. Situated at the North end of Reggio Calabria’s promenade it is very convenient for the shopping area, Lido, railway station, ferry to Sicily and museums all of which are a five minute walk from the Hotel. The Central railway station is further away but most trains stop at Reggio Calabria Lido or a train can be caught from Central to the Lido which is a four minute journey. When at the Hotel I expect (or hope for) cleanliness, non-shabby rooms and pleasant helpful staff, yet again Hotel Continental excelled in all. We arrived in Reggio Calabria a little after 9.00am and found the Hotel with ease as it is well signposted from the roads. Although check-in at the hotel is stated as being after 3.00pm they do offer a left luggage service and so we decided to take advantage of this, however arriving at a little after 9.00am we were told that our room was ready and we were welcome to book-in there and then, this gave us chance to freshen up and have the rest of the day luggage free around the City. The room was modern, fresh and of a very high decor standard. It was spotlessly clean with the added bonus of a sea view looking out over the Messina straights to Sicily and Mount Etna. All rooms have TV a fridge rom service and the three jet shower that others have praised in their reviews. Finally the buffet breakfast is more than plentiful to store you up for a day sight-seeing with fresh fruit, cheeses, hams, cereal etc. I also have to say the best Americano Coffee I have had in Italy and I have lived here for four years, I will return! Please note: if you intend to visit Reggio Calabria to see the Riace Bronzes the Museum of Magna Greccia is closed for renovation and knowing Southern Italy as well as I do I envisage this being closed for the rest of the year.
Review 118:The staff is absolutely the best, most helpful and kind gentlemen! Theygave us many reguired details, found even train timetable for us. Thewhole place is simple and very clean, the locarion is excelent andquiet, theonly disturbance were few bangs form the Etna. Weather inCalabria - enchantingly changeable in early spring! Nature - absolutelybreathtaking! Driving in Calabria - piece of cake, you just keep veryclose to the other cars and watch them overtake smoothly in impossiblesituations. We are definitely coming back!
