Reviews for Querceto Di Castellina
Review 1:We were a little surprised to discover that cleaning of the room is only twice a week and not daily.
Review 2:Dream location. Top quality and excellent equipped apartment. Complimentary bottle of wine and wine tasting with tour. Beautiful fireplace. Spacious rooms!!
Review 3:Beautiful spot overlooking vineyards. Convenient location for exploring Chianti. Our "apartment" was a semi-detached stone cottage that was quite charming.
Review 4:Room was freezing cold; on top of that we have been charged for ... gas heating for our second night breakfast is terrible, junk-food only and some fruit salad. Costed 8 EURs. Completely different from what you'd have expected in Tuscany nobody changed towels in 2 days nobody cleaned up the room either; glasses not cleaned, trash not taken out
Review 5:Location, views
Review 6:Nothing at all!
Review 7:Superb country-side settings and environs. Easy and scenic walking trails nearby and own vineyards and olive plantations that place you right within nature. The cottages are aesthetically built and self-sufficient. The owners are particularly keen to ensure the guests are comfortable and extend all possible help including rides to the nearby village if you do not have a vehicle. In our case, they even introduced us to their friend owning a taxi to help us overcome travelling issues. Laura, Phillipo and Mary made sure that our stay was memorable.
Review 8:it wasn't clear that we will have to pay for the heating, for each day! it was very cold so we didn't have any choise and even after turning on the heating it was still not warm enough. also if we wanted hot water for shower we had to turn on the heating as well! so basicly if you want normal conditions you need to add the heating cost to your stay.
Review 9:the place is very beautiful! amazing view! the appartment is big, well equiped, very clean, comfortable, the location is good, the host is nice. they gave us a free tour in their vinyard and wine tasting when we wanted.
Review 10:When you light the fireplace the whole appartment was full of smoke. There was a problem of which the staff was aware about, but they didnt stop renting the place. Really annoying and unhealthy slepping in this environment.
Review 11:Nice place, beautiful location.
Review 12:Needs a coffee machine or new coffee pot as very corroded inside.
Review 13:Lovely rustic style villa! Beds were extremely comfortable! Handy to have a little kitchen to cook simple food. We really enjoyed our wine tasting sitting on the terrace overlooking the vineyard. Highly recommend!
Review 14:Coming from a city country, we took some time to adjust to the friendly creatures in the surroundings & the house ... millipedes, centripede, etc It will be great if host can look into: 1) Putting in a bigger fridge - it is a bit small for few nites stay and having to house food & drinks for few days. 2) Doing some maintenance to the bathroom on the ground floor. We noticed that water flows out of the bathing unit after the 1st person took the bath. It caused some mini flooding which did not get dried up when we took the bath the following day.
Review 15:The beautiful Tuscany surroundings and living within a vineyard. The friendly family & staff that host the Aguristimo, which makes our stay very enjoyable.
Review 16:It's probably not a bad idea that internet and cell phone service can sometimes be slow or non-existent. Only a few news channels on the telly but it's certainly not needed if one is to enjoy the beauty of the area and all it has to offer.
Review 17:We stayed for 2 weeks and each day felt like the perfect Chianti holiday. The property is truly lovely and very peaceful. The backdrop of the vineyards (we were there in September) is stunning. The staff is discreet enough whereby you can enjoy your privacy, yet they are always available whenever you need them. This is a working vineyard - the very essence of agritourism. The location is central to the entire Chianti area. Wines are delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed Laura's cooking class. Weekly group dinners are a great way of meeting other guests, and the menu is prepared entirely by Laura, the proprietor. Home cooked Italian food in a lovely and intimate setting. We will certainly return!
Review 18:Absolutely everything! The family was super nice and welcoming, the property is beautiful and the cottage is equipped with everything you might need for a perfect vacation not to mention the wonderful wine they produce...
Review 19:nothing
Review 20:Amazing location with end of road privacy. Beautiful buildings, great views, very clean and comfortable. Staff was very welcoming. Great vineyard setting.
Review 21:-The Wi-Fi struggled a lot in the cottage, which was frustrating at times. Had to walk down to the main reception building to get full strength just to check email, check into our flights, etc. -Phone in the cottage did not work at all and the front door didn't always latch properly from the outside. However, they gave us a free bottle of wine to make up for this, which was really appreciated! -The cottage had a modest amount of shampoo, soap, and toilet paper provided but it's not replenished so if you're staying for more than just a few days, you need to buy your own and it's about a 10 minute drive into town. Not a big deal but it did come as a surprise for us since it wasn't mentioned when we arrived and wasn't listed in the information sheet provided to us. -This isn't really a negative but the Talluri cottage patio does not have a view of the vineyard and surrounding hills (some of the other cottages do if you have the choice).
Review 22:Gorgeous, peaceful setting! Loved being right on the vineyard, and the grounds of the property were stunning - very well maintained. The location in Chianti was great - short drive to Florence, Siena, and other sites in Chianti. The dinner that Laura (the owner) prepared was absolutely delicious (especially the zucchini lasagna). Our cottage (Talluri) was comfortable, quiet, and spacious, and the shower was nice and hot with great water pressure. We were free to wander through the vineyard and try the grapes - very welcoming. Really enjoyed the wine tasting too (free to guests). Overall, great value for money!
Review 23:The wifi connection was unreliable. It would have been very nice to have daily housekeeping.
Review 24:All of the staff who we interacted with were fantastic. Helpful and genuinely friendly and kind.
Review 25:The beds were rather firm and fluffier pillows would have been better
Review 26:Location private and quiet, staff and Laura...a gem...great cook..great wine and close to Castelina...
Review 27:Magnificent view in front of the cottage over the wine fields, hills and Toscany, is magnificent and definately worth to be seen! Staff is very friendly and helpful. And don't forget to try the local wine!
Review 28:Wifi could be improved.
Review 29:Great location central to everything Chianti and Tuscany. Accommodations clean and a lot of space. Friendly. Laura was great to listen to her stories - would have like to hear more! Definitely recommend the place to future travellers. We did not eat breakfast there but did partake in the arranged dinner, which was awesome.
Review 30:Not at all. Highly recommended
Review 31:- Laura, Fillipo and staff are wonderful. They will notice and satisfy all your need with care. - Great view over the vineyard. My cottage have view of the vinyard through windows and main gate. - Food and wine. Laura just cook one dinner a week. Don't miss it as her food is irresistable. - Room. My cottage, Laura is its name, have the whole history with people & the property. The rooms is spotless clean with all facility. Great view over the flowers, olive trees and vineyard.
Review 32:-Breakfast only included if you stay in the larger unit, and breakfast is minimal -Dinner is only offered when there is enough people staying at the resort
Review 33:-Great Wine -Beautiful View -Relaxing Region -Great Cheese Plates -Some Good Size Crostinis that are tasty
Review 34:The one small bathroom was a bit of a challenge for 2 couples and one of the party also got sick and we think it might have been the water..
Review 35:The character and location was just perfect as well as 2 double rooms since we were 2 couples.
Review 36:Location can be hard to find, so make sure you have GPS/Google maps as you have to go off-road to get to it. We arrived late at night (10pm) and the whole property was dark, even though we had emailed them we will be late. We had to call them on the phone so that someone comes out and check-us in. There were issues with the hot water in our room all the time. Food options were limited - you basically have to bring your own food and cook it, which we were not prepared for. We only stayed 2 nights and probably were not the typical type of people who come to the hotel - I would recommend it for families who want to relax for a week or more and cook themselves.
Review 37:Laura was very helpful and tried to help resolve the issues we had. The property is very nice, you can watch the sunset next to the pool with a bottle of Chianti - unforgettable! The surrounding area is beautiful.
Review 38:...everything was lovely.
Review 39:Everything... it was such a lovely place, and the owners were amazing... they personally took the time to help me with our wedding, and assisted in coordinating flower arrangements and pick up... they were the best!
Review 40:Nothing really. It would howeverbe very ddifficult to locate this without your own transportation or a wine tour.
Review 41:Phillipo was a great host, friendly and always willing to help and give suggestions. Even offered to call for dinner reservations at a local restaurant. Breakfast was nice. Views to die for! Wines yummy!
Review 42:Nothing to say, it was just perfect.
Review 43:Very friendly welcome, marvellous and calm place, well situated with a beautiful view from villa Livia. Modern and quiet apartment, parking is near by, breakfast delicious with home made marmelades. Grazie Laura for this great time. Next time for much longer.
Review 44:Don't try to go there without a GPS...it is extremely hard to find...and once you make the turn at the sign to get there the road is extremely bumpy
Review 45:It's a beautiful place,and wonderful scenery...and very friendly.
Review 46:Our bed was a little uncomfortable at times as it was 2 mattresses put together. Not a huge deal we still slept fine each night!
Review 47:When pulling up to Querceto is something out of a dream. We were greeted by Paola (the owner) and given a bottle of wine for our honeymoon! We were then shown to our cottage which was absolutely lovely. We had a little patio overlooking the vineyard and a full kitchen inside. The grounds here are beautiful my fiancee and I often just walked around with a glass of wine taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. There is a lovely pool area which we went and hung out by during the day (with wine of course). Paolo offers a private cooking class as well which I highly recommend, you go right into town with her, shop out the ingredients then come back and cook them! It was a fantastic experience. She also offers a dinner once a week for guests at the winery. We stayed 6 nights here and it was so wonderful and relaxing. Castellina is a 5 minute drive away and a lovely little town to explore. There are some fantastic restaurants there! You definitely need a car from here though if you'd like to get to any of the other cities in the area. We took a 30min drive to Siena one day which was a fantastic place to visit! Everything was just perfect while we stayed here. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're looking for somewhere secluded and magical then this is the place for you!
Review 48:Absolutely nothing!!!
Review 49:Querceto di Castellina was a dream. Such a beautiful location and so cental to Florence & Siena. We had a rental car so we could visit a lot of the little villages. Jacopo gave us some good advice to drive to Panzano (free parking) and catch the bus to Florence. Stress free. Pool was freezing (Sept) but lovely to sit by in the late afternoon. When we return (and we will) we will definitely have one of Laura's lunches and maybe do a cooking class. Such a lovely week!!
Review 50:It took us some time to find the place. No restaurant inside, which is not convenient if you don't want to cook by yourselves.
Review 51:Perfect place which is quiet, at upper area, nice wine yard views! Love it so much! Laura and Philips are good too, we get all we want to have there, but lacking time to enjoy the cooking class and other activities. We hope to come again!
Review 52:No housekeeping at all from time you check in until you leave. . .5 days for us.
Review 53:Wonderful to walk out everyday and see the views. Establishment has a history that goes back centuries and Laura was wonderful.
Review 54:No WiFi.
Review 55:The secluded location and privacy of the cottages suited us to a tee. we could cook meals in the kitchen which was equipped with basic cooking equipment) and eat them outside if we wished.
Review 56:Nothing.
Review 57:Everything. Peaceful setting on a hill overlooking vineyards. Layout of property insures privacy - you really do not realize how many others are staying there. Room was large - more of a fully supplied apartment. Nice pool available not far from rooms. Free wine tasting available. Optional on site dinner was fantastic. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Laundry facilities were very appreciated.
Review 58:We had a great stay. The Suite was beautifully designed with all mod-cons, comfortable bed and stylish bathroom. We loved the snug under the fireplace which was the perfect place to tuck up and read our books at night with a glass of wine from the estate. The location is simply stunning and just a short drive to the local town. We also enjoyed the swimming pool which also benefitted from the lovely view. Breakfast was included even though this isn't specified on the booking information. We would highly recommend.
Review 59:There were a lot of insects and worms, even inside the house sometimes. 5km away from the nearest village (restaurants, bars, etc).
Review 60:The staff was great and helpful. The location was very good for visiting all villages in Chianti. The nature around is breathtaking.
Review 61:Mosquitos & Horseflies abound esp. nr. swimming pool. Outside of Laura & the cleaner, other staff less friendly with concentration on wine sales business. The unmade road to the property needs to have its many holes filled as it can damage cars - if you have a rental car, a serious business.
Review 62:Location was great. Laura, our hostess, and the cleaner were very friendly. Free laundry a big plus. Overall excellent.
Review 63:Somewhat secluded, out of the way, at the end of a gravel road
Review 64:If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place for you. Accommodations in Livia suite are very nice for the price.
Review 65:A family run property in an exceptional site, very large flats in a small group of beautiful old houses well restored and furbished. Extremely quiet. Very kind owners. We spent 6 nights there and will certainly come back.
Review 66:Staying at this property is an unforgettable experience. The cottages are rustic but clean, spacious and comfortable. The grounds and area are stunning. Be certain to have a dinner or cooking class with Chef Laura made with all local ingredients and accompanied by delicious wine.
Review 67:Laura was very welcoming, and the house was very well equipped, right down to washing up liquid provided! It is a beautiful situation, with stunning views. We were sad to leave after three days, as we felt so at home. I strongly recommend Quercerto.
Review 68:Refrigerator in a Laura suite could be bigger. We missed unfortunately the delicious dinner that Laura prepares once per week but I hope to return soon and try also cooking class.
Review 69:Surrounding is like on a post card - huge wineyard welcomes you when you enter the property wjich is approx 2km away from the main road. Stone cottages with their settings & decor are just delighttful. We stayed in new Laura suite which is very spacious, especially for two people and decorated with a taste. Loved the view toward wineyard. Laura was vry nice, explaining and we enjoyed also cheese, some traditional food (soup) and wine testing. Perfect location close to Siena, San Gimignano, and all beautiful places in Chianti region, and tranquil.
Review 70:What a beautiful and central location to all the charm of Tuscany, we could have stayed so much longer. Lovely gardens, pool was gorgeous, our apartment was spacious and beautiful. Staff could not have been more helpful. Loved our stay. Not hard to find if you have a GPS
Review 71:It's heaven on earth! We stayed in the Lívia suite which has a magnnificent view on the main vineyard. Everything about Querceto is absolutely beautiful.
Review 72:Had the two bedroom apartment but it's more like 1 bedroom with a makeshift floor above it. The second bedroom doesn't have a door and it's right above the first bedroom so you can hear everything.
Review 73:Amazing and stunning. Been to Tuscany many times and this was by far the best property.
Review 74:Noisy neighbors, poor noise isolation in rooms
Review 75:Location, cleanliness of cottage , beautiful views of Tuscan Hills
Review 76:The staff/ owners were very nice but hard to catch as they were not really around

Review 113:Friendly stuff, good wine, beautiful localization, lovely typical Tuscany buildings.
Review 114:We came early winter, so we had to pay a bit extra for heating . this isreasonable and fair ,and the owner is very accurate reading gas metersbut we were a little surprised and preferred a fixed rate in retrospect.
