Reviews for Hotel Signum
Review 1:We enjoyed everything about our stay! Some of the highlights: the extremely kind and helpful staff -- always a smile on their faces, the food/wine at the restaurant, the bartenders/servers at aperitivi, the spa, the front desk attendants, the location, the rooms, the showers. I could go on for days. Hotel Signum made our honeymoon unforgettable.
Review 2:We stayed in one of their higher priced rooms. It is a lot of money to stay here. I am just not seeing the value for the money. I would expect the staff to be familiar with the restaurants on the island and be able to give a few good recommendations for gems in the area - not tourist traps. Our first night's recommendation was to a fish restaurant on the water that was filled with all of the tourists in the island, not one local, and it was overpriced with poor food. I asked about another restaurant that was very highly reviewed on TA and the response I received from the front desk staff was, " Oh, don't go there. I ate there 5 years ago and it was bad." 5 years ago! Another recommendation I received for a place to have an aperitif was also very poor. I am wondering if there are good places to eat on the island and maybe it is not the staff. It was hard to get someone to take food and drink orders from the pool. Not a lot of check-ins from wait staff. I think we paid for the hype. It was a nice hotel, but we did not come out of it feeling like we had the luxury experience many speak about having there. This seems like the type of place where I am supposed to love it because everyone says they love it. But do they really?
Review 3:The pool was lovely. The bed was very comfortable. Close to the beach where you can walk down and rent floats. Silence. Beautiful flowers around the property.
Review 4:I liked it all
Review 5:Such friendly staff who will go above and beyond and a wonderful location, excellent food in outstanding surroundings with views over the island from the terrace bar, a stones throw from the nearest beach.
Review 6:Nothing, all was great, really.
Review 7:Relax to the max, the total atmosphere was a perfect balance. Nice room, chill out pool area, friendly staff, AMAZING dinner, perfect breakfast, great location.
Review 8:too expensive for the value we had to pay a taxi to reach the hotel: 20euros each way on top of the room price. For a 300euros night you could expect the hotel to offer a navette.
Review 9:Swimming pool with a view, food, staff
Review 10:The room - a standard with garden view - was disappointing: part of the furniture was subpar, the room was too dark and lighting insufficient. Service, however, is their main problem. If you market your hotel as a charming 4 star boutique hotel, you have to deliver on that promise. We arrived to a room with cold water, a leaking shower and the hairdryer we had requested was not there. While the problems were fixed, we were not happy with the room and we asked about a change. We were told that they'd have tried to arrange something, but after the initial promise, no one ever followed up. We appreciated the Spa, but again they fell short on service, with minimal support in explaining the facilities and how to use the self treatment package. Side note on the crazy expensive restaurant, which offers ambitious plates that don't impress if not for their price. A couple positive notes for the sommelier and for the capers gelato, but overall not recommended.
Review 11:Hotel Signum is beautifully set in quiet Malfa: the property is charming and offers incredible views of Stromboli and Panarea. Aperitivo on their terrace is worth it, especially if you like cocktails, as the view is amazing.
Review 12:Not much to complain! Maybe just the lack of parking and signage to find the hotel when you arrive.
Review 13:This hotel is simply amazing, a gem and one of those best kept secrets. Food and wine are divine. Pool with views on the Stromboli. Staff kindness.
Review 14:This is without a shred of doubt a single most incredible property. On top of it all their staff absolutely never fails to deliver on their promises. I mean they made us a huge breakfast bag because we told we were checking out at 5am. Enlightened hospitality indeed.
Review 15:It took ages to receive our wine after selection However so did most places we visited over 3 weeks of travelling through Sicily..
Review 16:Staff were outstanding ,,,
Review 17:What a gorgeous location with stunning views. Breakfast on the terrace was amazing, a great selection of food. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the wine connoisseur in the restaurant certainly knows his stuff!
Review 18:Lovely tranquil location on a lovely tranquil island. It was a pleasure staying here and the staff actually set up a special room so I could watch a televised football match. The restaurant in the evening was superb and I wish I could have eaten there more than once. All in all pretty much perfect
Review 19:Everything was just perfect. Hotel staff made our stay unforgettable. Beautiful location, delicious restaurant, amazing cocktails in the evening. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who appreciates excellent service and easygoing island life.
Review 20:Wifi isn't great and works best from the outside courtyard - couldn't get a signal in the room. The bed is a bit soft for my liking
Review 21:What a gorgeous place! Everything about Hotel Signum is beautiful - rooms, the view frim the terrace, the location, the luxury bed linen, the food and the staff were exceptional
Review 22:no iron or onsite laundry but was able to negotiate a cheaper bag rate at the laundry they use Relatively expensive taxi but can take the bus if your organised
Review 23:Have dinner here - the food is amazing - expensive but worth it all The view from the terrace for evening drinks, over the pool during the day. Breakfast is extensive and wonderful The layout of the complex provides many hidden spaces, go looking for the library The staff were attentive, helpful and happy Off season room rate was the best value for money on our holiday
Review 24:Expensive -- but worth it!
Review 25:Staff and setting -- everything is done (in an unintrusive way) to make you comfortable and get you whatever you need. Gorgeous secluded grounds, with spectacular views over the sea toward the other islands; great infinity pool. Fantastic food, at all meals, and lovely people serving it. You can get a massage, etc., at the spa just down the lane.
Review 26:Breakfast was very basic, if you wanted anything like a boiled egg it was €3 extra, the evening meal is over priced and not worth it. Rooms could have hair conditioner included. Owner gave us information leaflet about Salina on morning we were leaving !!! A little pretentious... hotel is expensive per night and I would expect more.
Review 27:Stayed three nights, Location and style, rooms, spa, nice staff... Organic feel to way hotel was styled. Very different from other hotels I've stayed in.
Review 28:Perhaps the drinks service could be faster, but I guess that it's linked to the relaxed pace of life!
Review 29:The staff were very attentive and friendly, the location is superb. The pace of life is very relaxed, and the standards are high.
Review 30:Lacked variety of choices at breakfast, high prices at the restaurant
Review 31:We enjoyed the pool, location, room size, decor and comfort of bed, the bar staff were fantastic.
Review 32:Perfect retreat
Review 33:The room, the view, the friendly staff, the food
Review 34:would warrant a eveb higher score if there is a fitness facilities
Review 35:None
Review 36:Very personal service. Run by a family who give you the unique aeolian village Hospitality experience . Top spa, too food,
Review 37:Don't come here for the swimming pool. Service ok but not really trying his best with non Italian speaking.
Review 38:seasonal price in august!
Review 39:Everything!
Review 40:Great views and restaurant, terrace Luxury place to stay in Salina Rooms with character
Review 41:Friendly staff, amazing cocktails
Review 42:This is one of favorite hotels where we have ever stayed...a little piece of heaven on Salina : )
Review 43:Wifi a bit weak.
Review 44:Fantastic views, great terrace and restaurant, rooms with traditional character.
Review 45:The staff are warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The Hotel is stunning which you are immediately made to feel at home in.
Review 46:I enjoyed the two days spent in Signum hotel. Everything was great and thoroughly relaxing.
Review 47:The hot salt pools The beauty of the design Great books Beautiful artifacts Signum beauty products
Review 48:We liked how friendly and helpful the staff is. They work hard at making your whole experience about relaxing and having a good stay.
Review 49:Leaving
Review 50:Absolutely everything
Review 51:We did not find the charm and soul we had experienced in other accommodations in the area and we felt the value for money was not there. Guess if you don't go out of the hotel you won't notice but if you do...Breakfast had neutral food, 20min for coffee if you insist. Also some usual 4* hotel features were not included (eg entrance to the hotel spa against a fee, as for external clients, fresh orange juice and scrambled eggs against an extra fee, hotel closes at 11:30pm, plan in advance to get an extra key if you go out).
Review 52:Superb location, very comfortable and clean rooms, nice pool in a beautiful and peaceful garden, good massage service. The concept is quite different from other hotels on the island, which tend to be open towards the see. The Signum however is built on an old farm compound, with rooms spread across several buildings mainly around the pool, giving it a more intimate atmosphere.
Review 53:The food wasn't that impressive and the access for the spa should definitely be included in the room price.
Review 54:The staff is helpful, generous and very professional. Rooms are super comfortable and the facilities are great. Good breakfast and great selection of wines.
Review 55:the mood of the person I was travelling with, haha
Review 56:Isabela is very helpful, the staff is so friendly, the location is perfect to rlax and enjoy the nature, late breakfast , no stress at all, very peaceful and quiet, the view from the swimming pool outstnding, the breakfst is delicious, the room is perfect regarding space , shower place and terrase, just lovely, the little alleys all over the island , a place to enjoy food good wine friendly people and relaxation
Review 57:There are no deckchairs/lounge chairs for sun bathing at the spa/wellness center!
Review 58:Fantastic hotel! Incredible good kitchen and most friendly staff imaginable!
Review 59:leaving.
Review 60:i liked the atmosphere of the islands, the ambience, the fact that salina overlooked my father's island of stromboli that i could look at and enjoy. the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
Review 61:Getting to the island was a two hour hydrofoil trip from the Sicilian mainland.
Review 62:The room decor was beautful; italian antiques and old world charm with modern amenitiies. Enjoyed having a drink at night on the outdoor terrace. All meals were very good.
Review 63:Having to leave
Review 64:This hotel is just perfection, charming rooms, great staff, wonderful spa and pool, gourmet restaurant and amazing cocktail bar. Best place om Salina. In Malfa, easy to get around.
Review 65:The only (trivial) down-sides are that there’s no tea & coffee facilities in-room, & that (like most hotels), there should be a few more coat hangers in the wardrobe.
Review 66:Seriously consider staying here. Friendly, capable, helpful staff (many speaking excellent English, French & German) assist a delightful stay in a well-run resort. The terrific breakfasts have interest & variety – it’ll take you a good while to get bored with the many & unusual sweet & savoury options, so you should prepare to depart weighing more than when you arrive. The food at the restaurant & the pre-dinner cocktails on the terrace are truly marvellous. Our Deluxe Double with sea view & terrace had an extraordinary view, comfortable furnishings, & privacy. It’s pricey, but the images on the hotel’s website aren’t exaggerations, so you’re getting high quality that’s value for money. It’s a 30 minute taxi ride with your bags from the ferry terminals in a small village, Malfa. Think quite carefully about which of the 2 ferry companies to use to get to & from the mainland, based on the different mainland ports, times of travel, & whether or not you’ll have to change ferries en route (changing often involves a competitive rush by passengers for seats, & if you have heavy suitcases to deal with or are frail or infirm, you’ll be hassled by the transit). You may find it best to use both companies, 1 inward & the other outward. There are interesting nearby trattorias to go to to feed on the local sea foods, but you’ll find at least a couple of dinners at Signum’s restaurant a delight.
Review 67:Some rooms still need refurbishment/renovation.
Review 68:Staff was extremely nice, restaurant and food were of high quality, setting and view (sunset on terrace) were amazing.
Review 69:Beautiful setting, breath-taking views of the sea & other islands Food is top-quality, chef uses locally-sourced ingredients. The spa was heavenly -watching the sun set lounging in the mineral pool is a personal highlight!
Review 70:-
Review 71:This is a magic place. Every part of the house and garden - as well asthe food - is attended to with great care and love. The staff is verycompetent and friendly. I cannot recommend Hotel Signum enough.

Review 73:A total gem: everything about the Signum is fantastic, the people, facilities, food, pool and surroundings. Small, homey and totally relaxing. Everyone was super nice and helpful. We'll definitely return.
Review 74:We had a wonderful stay. The spa is fantastic with amazing massage therapists, the restaurant is excellent and the terrace overlooking Stromboli with cocktails is perfect for a drink.
Review 75:the pool was lovely. The staff very friendly and welcoming. Great central location in the town. Would definitely recommend to stay there. Restaurant was great with a big menu and reasonably priced
Review 76:Friendly staff, amazing restaurant (although it is pricey) and near abeautiful rocky beach. We had a wonderfully private room which we trulyenjoyed. Breakfasts are included and delicious!
