Reviews for Castello di Fonterutoli
Review 1:Staff were friendly and helped find the check-in location as GPS lead us to the wrong side of the village. The place was awesome, much better than I had expected. Shame we didn't get to stay for both of the 2 nights we booked as there was a mix up with their system and booking.com The restaurant was excellent too. Winery tour was great too and gives you an appreciation for the village
Review 2:No shops and alternative restaurants to the Osteria driven by the vineyard in the little village, but possible to find within 10 minutes with car.
Review 3:Beautiful place, quiet and cosy, fantastic wine and central in the Chianti district
Review 4:Excellent stay at Castello di Fonterutoli. The food is excellent, and the staff is friendly. They have a winery, it is good to do a wine tour. But the day we went the tour only lasted for 30 mins, although we were told it will be 1.5hs. It could be the rain though...
Review 5:Only bad thing was it was almost impossible to find. There are about 4 different roads with the same route number in this area, so better directions should be given.
Review 6:We were greeted by Jean, who was amazing! She was a big help
Review 7:We loved room 5 - it was beautiful with a balcony overlooking the garden. The bath was fab and huge!! The communal living room area and kitchen was lovely with lots of comfy sofas. The location was remote and beautiful and we also booked a wine tour (25 euros each but it was super wine) which was 10-15 min walk through vineyards - wonderful. We also booked a table at the Osteria across the road but it is only open at certain times so best to doublecheck it's open as the nearest restaurants are about 5km away on a very windy road in Castellina (not walkable!). Or you could make your own meal in the lovely big kitchen.
Review 8:Our room (the one bed apartment) was spacious but it wasn't featuredin the gallery on booking.com or their website. It lacked a bit ofcharacter and wasn't decorated as impressively as the other roomsshown. We managed without aircon, but it would have been stifling on aJuly or August night. We missed having access to a terrace and/oroutdoor space. There's no pool (which a previous reviewermentioned).
Review 9:The B&B is in a good location if you wish to explore the Chiantiregion and also make a day trip to Florence, San Gimignano and Siena. The views from the immediate vicinity are stunning. The nearby villageof Castellina in Chianti provides an alternative place to eat if youdon't want to dine at their Osteria on the estate. The wine that ismade here is exceptionally good.
Review 10:It was very cool in our room thanks to summer storms, I did wonder if it would be hot without airconditioning if the temperatures were higher.
Review 11:I felt like I was a guest at a fancy country house in the Chianti countryside, not at a B&B. The location, beauty, comforts all surpassed my expectations.
Review 12:bed was uncomfortable; no fly/mosquito protectors so we couldn't get fresh air; window couldn't be open as there were many bugs,flyes/mosquitos,waiting to enter
Review 13:great house&dinner at restaurant house is really nice, decorated with authentic furniture. garden is lovely and you can enjoy it before noon time when it is not too hot the place is lovely too and you can see different wineries and country houses, have great food in La Piazza, San Donato, etc.
Review 14:The only thing that can be better is wifi.
Review 15:We liked EVERYTHING!!!:))) such an amazing experience to stay at the castle, especially in beautiful Tuscany!!! Fonterutoli is a must-visit place! I would definitely like to come back here again. P.S if you love cooking with your loved one, there is an amazing common kitchen where you can prepare a great feast!
Review 16:We didn't realise the check-in time was until 18:00 (Well, it was our fault maybe...we didn't check it properly). We arrived around 19:00 and nobody was in the reception. Fortunately, we found the staff just on the road (!!!) and got in the room. If we couldn't meet her there, we could have more hassles after long day! ;) Anyway, please make sure that you need to arrive during the afternoon!Driving can be also quite challenging in the dark. :)
Review 17:Very relaxing staying with a nice room and living room, good breakfast, nice location (even for other Chianti region) and good staffs. Really nice experience!
Review 18:We loved the quiet setting of the Chianti region and the beautiful B&B which was so comfortable, clean and friendly staff! This was our favorite stay during our 3 weeks in Italy!
Review 19:We were given the most beautiful room at Castello di Founterutoli with double doors and a balcony that looked over the most incredible view. The bathroom was also huge with windows that opened to the view. We were in heaven. To top it off the wine was beautiful, the food at the restaurant exquisite and the poolside relaxing and peaceful. Thank you Castello!

Review 21:A very nice location and perfect to make excursion Nice employees with a good and nice attitude - support ex. Would go back to enjoy the nice area and endlessness fields with many possibilities to travel and find quietness and nice pictures of the land in Tuscany Breakfast was good and with a nice wide pallet of food, also with very nice service
Review 22:Amazing stay in a real castle! We were warmly welcomed by the staff and stayed in a large room with very comfortable bed and huge bathroom with a bath tube. On our disposal there was a huge (common) living room with a file place and nice old furniture, that really resembled the old times... We also had a private garden outside. The breakfast was nice and there was a possibility for wine tasting in the wine shop next to the reception. The hotel is located on private premises and around the place there are only about 30 houses. It is a great pleasure to walk around. Our stay was amazing! Thanks to the staff for the great stay!
Review 23:There was problems with water delivery so we couldn't take a shower or use toilet etc in the morning. There was few cocroaches in the room.
Review 24:Great view, romantic atmosphere, great and helpful staff, the place was awesome
Review 25:Need music variety(CD's) in restaurant......(Listened to Michael Jackson repeatedly....for dinner and breakfast!) Musty smell of communal room (where couches, fireplace, etc. located).
Review 26:lovely small Tuscan town....free wine tasting on site provided by friendly and professional staff. Room rustic, but with lots of charm. lovely site for dinner and breakfast overlooking Tuscan hills. Smiling face of service person was a delight at breakfast...also whipped up the best scrambled eggs we've ever eaten!
