Reviews for Hotel Palazzo Squarcialupi
Review 1:We had expected the hotel to be on a villa outside of any village, pictures were a little misleading that way, but after all, we had a good time.
Review 2:Great spa/sauna area, and if you are looking for a hotel in a small village, a great location.
Review 3:a bit hard to park with the luggage. Had to walk a short way with the bags.
Review 4:The location was beautiful and good options for lunch and dinner. Beautiful scenery. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was large and nicely furnished.
Review 5:The grounds, pool, and spa facilities were clean, well maintained, and very inviting. I especially appreciated the warm and friendly welcome from the staff, and I will definitely return for a longer stay!
Review 6:Restaurant is overpriced with a bleak menu. Ambience was awful with loud American music blaring from the kitchen. We listened to Found myself a cheerleader and dance with me. More than a little displeased with a fairly hefty check for good food but poor ambience and horrible service.
Review 7:Facilities were superb and the location was excellent. We travelled in September and it was still quite busy but staff was able to meet our nethan a,
Review 8:First we had a room that only had a window in the ceiling. TERRIBLE This was 'prison'like and not acceptable for a room at that rate(130euro)staff very nice and changed room after one night
Review 9:Our 2nd room was very nice corresponding to excellent
Review 10:The head lady was quite busy and didn't have much time to be informative of the surrounding areas and wine tours. We would have appreciated more assistance with this.
Review 11:Loved the pool and the spa
Review 12:No negatives!
Review 13:Absolutely everything from location to hotel facilities-more like a 4-5 star hotel, Monica and Erica were fabulous and so accomodating. I would come back to Tuscany just to stay at this Hotel!
Review 14:The restaurant on the other side made such a loud noise until midnight, it was hard to sleep after a tiring day. We got another room next night in the other side of the hotel. Otherwise it would have been a perfect stay in Toscany.
Review 15:nice looking little hotel, view to the toscan hills, charming garden, pool (even if we havent tied it ), very good lunch and dinner. Helpful staff, nice big room,
Review 16:one of the reception staff (a lady from Scotland) was more interested in eating lunch than checking us in! Also showers in a bath should not be allowed as this is very dangerous when getting out of the shower as the floor is lower than the inside of the bath.
Review 17:The location was great. The room was large. It has its own car park.
Review 18:Made the error of only booking 2 nights, make sure its 3 nights !!
Review 19:This hotel is just fabulous, rooms are like mini apartments, pool is lovely and cooling on a hot day, then off to the jacuzzi & sauna. Food in the restaurant is gorgeous, just top marks all round.
Review 20:After florence this was heaven. Comfortable, roomy, and the setting of course was very beautiful. One suggestion: a ceiling fan would have been nice. Despite the hot summer, we didn't need the air conditioning all the time, but wanted some air movement. I hope to be back....notwithstanding the fans!
Review 21:Yo say something, i missed something warm for breakfast like eggs or bacon
Review 22:Location un the center of castellana, the building is a very nice palazzo, it has restaurants arround....
Review 23:We loved the location of the Hotel Palazzo. The staff was so kind and helpful, providing us with several great recommendations on wineries to visit and restaurant ideas. By the way... their restaurant Castellina Squarcialupi was wonderful. The place was beautiful and very romantic with gorgeous views over the Tuscany region, while still located in a quaint little town. We would definitely come back. Breakfast was great also!
Review 24:The woman who checked us in seemed annoyed with tourists and largely impatient with her job. She was curt in her explanation for parking and made the parking more complicated than it was. Bare in mind that walking from the parking lot to the hotel involves treacherous stairs!
Review 25:Right on main street...and this village is primarily one main street! In contrast to the woman who checked us in, Erika (who checked us out) was delightful and extremely helpful!!
Review 26:Ideal location for visiting Chianti and both Siena and Florence. Wanted to be in the countryside and this was perfect with great choice of restaurants just in the village.
Review 27:That I had to leave! :)
Review 28:The staff was so friendly and super accommodating! Breakfast was delicious, with a great variety. Loved the marble, tiled decor. Would return in a heartbeat.
Review 29:We were greeted with a cappuccino on arrival while we waited for our room to be made up. The spa is wonderful! The property is in the centre of town so we were able to walk everywhere easily even to neighbouring vineyards.
Review 30:Nothing!
Review 31:Great location for exploring the region and seeing Castellina in Chianti when all of the tourists leave! Hotel met all of our needs and was comfortable and clean.
Review 32:none
Review 33:The location is fabulous, the town is amazing, the staff especially Erica were top notch! The large room and views are spectacular. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Review 41:Personal's attitude
Review 42:Lovely friendly staff. Great location. Would highly recommend to others.
Review 43:Breakfast
Review 44:Staff very smart
Review 45:The room we booked would have been under the roof with just a small low window. We could change it however with an upgrade fee. For the extended stay we had to change rooms and the new room smelled like smoke as guests are allowed to smoke in the rooms.
Review 46:The rooms are rather large with a sitting area and we had a beautiful view of the vineyards. The pool area also had beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards. It is an old palazzo with some original furniture. The breakfast room was the former kitchen. The place is kept clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating when we changed our room. We extended our stay for one night.
Review 47:Just the shower, hot water wasn't very stable.
Review 48:Everything was perfect except of the shower. Great breakfast, nice location, beutiful building and facilities.
Review 49:breakfast is limited - adding some fresh fruit salad f.ex. Difficult to find - the hotel is in the evening not reachable by car
Review 50:- beautifull place - combination of being close to the center of the village & having a superb view & very calm garden with swimming pool (& view) - rooms are rather large - ideal location to visit chianti region
Review 51:Access to the hotel by car. Long stairs to climb from the parking to the hotel.
Review 52:Central location to visit Tuscany. Nice room, clean, friendly staff. Nice village. Excellent value for money.
Review 53:People who drive to here would be better to notice traffic limitation rules. But the hotel will help. Not too much trouble.
Review 54:Nice location, very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful hotel with relaxing spa equipment.
Review 55:The reserved parking is a bit difficult to find so check-in at hotelfirst. They will provide directions and a "pass" for drivingin front of the hotel door to drop luggage.
Review 56:Wonderful location in quiet Castellina, but close to wonderful wineries.Great steam/sauna facility and spacious rooms!
Review 57:Rooms at the back have rural views although apparently these are not available when booking through Booking.com because they are all superior rooms. Therefore despite expressing a preference for a rural view we had been allocated a front street view; however, they did manage to find us a smaller standard room at the rear with a partial rural view. To be fair, the front room was huge and included a sofa; however it was rather dark because of the low windows, and as we were staying for three nights we particularly wanted a rural outlook.
Review 58:The hotel is a grand building in the main street of the old town of Castellina. Vehicle access is limited; you need to park just outside the restricted area to pick up a permit from reception which entitles you to drive into the street at certain times to load and unload. There is private parking around the back which you will be directed to; there are a lot of steps up to the hotel from this! Breakfast was the best we had on this trip, with a wide selection of bread, cakes, cold meat, cheese, fresh fruit and yogurt. The spa is free to use, and towels are provided without charge. It was nice to have it to ourselves on a wet day!
