Reviews for Castello La Leccia
Review 1:Having to leave.
Review 2:The setting was spectacular, accommodation was stylish, luxurious and the bed was very comfortable, the staff could not have been more welcoming and breakfast was really very good. We also had dinner in the restaurant, with some of their own Chianti, the food was lovely and the ambience was perfect for a quiet dinner for two!
Review 3:checkout time was too early
Review 4:Spectacular setting overlooking the valley. Beautifully restored castle with a very nice winery. Excellent staff: friendly and quite helpful. Great breakfast buffet and dinner
Review 5:This is a wonderful hotel with a fantastic location for touring Tuscany. The castle has been thoughtfully and beautifully renovated by the owner who is passionate about his home and his vineyards. The grounds are lovely, the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices are plentiful with eggs cooked to order. Dinner, an option for guests, was delightful and elegant. This was our favorite place that we stayed in during our 3 weeks in Italy!
Review 6:We loved everything from the moment we arrived. We were greeted with such warmth and kindness that we felt like it was family we hadn't seen in awhile. All of the staff were wonderful. The owner gave us a wonderful tour of his wine cellar and explained in detail how the wine is made and afterwards we were treated to a wonderful wine tasting. We also enjoyed the excellent restaurant that they have just for the guests. The food was beyond yummy! The showers were out of this world with great water pressure. The rooms were beautiful, spacious and impeccably done. The grounds are absolutely stunning and the views are magnificent. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back again next year for a longer stay.
Review 7:A bit overly renovated and designed, truly luxurious but with a lack of authenticity. Our room was large, but too dark with only one very small and low window - a pity given the great view you could have had. Make sure you get a better one!
Review 8:Amazing and remote location, great setting and comfort in an old castle with unbelievable views over Tuscany
Review 9:Occasionally slow service. Because the grounds are large it is not easy for staff to know that guests want service. An electronic communication device for guests to ask for service would improve matters.
Review 10:Magnificent views over the Tuscan hills. Beautiful buildings and furnishings. Great walking country butt beware horseflies! Very good food and wine at reasonable prices.
Review 11:Nothing really!
Review 12:Amazing location and beautifully decorated/restored castle. Everything was very comfortable and impeccably clean but keeping the antique feel to it. The staff was incredibly helpful and made you feel like a valued guest. The fact that the owner went to give us a wine tour, made it feel even more personal and authentic. Loved it!!!
Review 13:The staff was really nice and helpful. The wine tour of the property was very interesting and highly informative. The food at the restaurant was very good. The grounds were fabulous and very relaxing.
Review 14:The most beautiful place we have ever stayed. We extended our stay the first night as we fell so in love with it. Amazing atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and fantastic food made for the most wonderful time in the heart of Tuscany.
Review 15:The sink and bath didn't drain atall well and the bathroom toilet placed in a window didn't have blinds, but that's all!
Review 16:Everything about this place is to like. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The views are the best and they have grounds you can hike around (up to 4.4km). The owner claims he does not want to be an hotel. Instead he wants you to be a guest in his Tuscan house. He sort of achieves this effect, but it is a fine line to tread when you charge top dollar. We think he gets it about right. Raisa, (I don't know her job title but she seemed to take care of everything) was brilliant and helped us through a situation that was difficult for us and the house. Her positive and helpful attitude greatly contributes to making this place special. Breakfast was very good and a very lovely lady running the show... a choice of ...fruits,eggs,cakes etc. etc.. One dinner had to be returned because the meat was tough but they accepted it without argument. Stay here and you will love it!!!
Review 17:The location is to die for! The hotel is on a hillside in the most beautiful spot overlooking Siena and the stunning Tuscan countryside, the staff are so helpful, the wine is delicious and the food and the rooms are amazing, we can't recommend it highly enough!
Review 18:The grounds & building of La Leccia were even more beautiful than photos--it's an incredible place with beautiful views from all directions. The building has been beautifully restored with all the comforts you need in a stay. Staff was super friendly & helpful. It's a very relaxed place to enjoy a few days with wonderful food & good wine!
Review 19:Only could be more persons working in the staff and spacially in the pool. Wifi was not wirking properly.
Review 20:La leccia is a wonderful place, very romantic and with a very nice dinner. The atmosphere is perfect.
Review 21:air in room is unable to be changed we were extremely hot during night and it was uncomfortable.
Review 22:Very thing was above and behond nothing was too difficult. All staff wonderful and happy to help. Treated fed like family from the moment you arrive til you leave. Greeted by man who parked our car later we found out it is the owner! Francesca. Later given a passionate boutique organise winery tour and tasting from him. Dinner was incredible and extremely well priced for a 4 course all wines meal. Highly recommend eating at this restaurant for dinner. Incredible views. Rooms absolutely primo condition and brand new. Great pool. Great idea to put pool towels in bags - free to guests. Extremely comfortable bed. Wonderful stay. Wished we stayed longer. So much history in the Castella dates back to 14 century - so romantic and aw inspiring.
Review 23:Check out was quite early at 10.30, however they team were incredible helpful and found us a room to shower and change in so we could enjoy this wonderful hotel for an hour or two more
Review 24:Everything! This was a little bit of heaven in the Italian countryside. All the staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble, both before we arrived and once were there. The views and scenery were spectacular, watching the sun set from the terrace sampling a glass of wine from their own vineyard. Saving the best for last....the room was devine....beautiful and without a doubt the best place I have ever stayed
Review 25:The staff were superb! They could not be more helpful. Castello LaLeccia, situated on a hilltop, affording 180 degree panoramic views is stunningly beautiful and luxurious. Its contemporary interiors contrast wonderfully with historic architecture and manicured gardens. Breakfast and dinner were wonderful.
Review 26:Not a thing
Review 27:Everything was superb Luxurious hotel , fantastic attention to detail , staff amazing , setting is beautiful beyond belief My favorite vacation ever
Review 28:NOTHING, we were sad we had to leave.
Review 29:Where can I start? The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful, the location was BREATHTAKING, the room was AMAZING, the food was EXQUISITE, really everything about this place is perfect, you won't regret your stay here.
Review 30:From the approach to the sad good-bye, everything was wonderful! Personalized service by a caring staff who could not do more to make our stay sensational.
Review 31:Castello La Lecchia is set in the most beautiful, magical and romantic location. The hotel itself is 7*, the staff are the kind and extremely helpful. The food is absolutely incredible, if you stay you must eat in the restaurant in the evening. The entire hotel inside and out (gardens and pools) is spotless and everything is decorated beautifully. I can't recommend this hotel enough. I can't wait to go back !
Review 32:Everything was excellent perhaps the room was a little small for the price but it made up for it in quality.
Review 33:Great location and a beautiful place to stay.
Review 34:Having to leave
Review 35:This place is truly amazing. It costs a bit but you will never ever feel short changed. The moment you arrive you will realise how incredible LaLeccia is.
Review 36:If the restaurant provides more choices in the menu, it will be perfect!
Review 37:Liked everything...nothing to complain of...hope to stay again in our next trip to Italy. Excellent staff with excellent service, providing so detailed information about Tuscany, activities, etc. Enjoy staying in this hotel for 3 nights...wonderful and pleasant!
Review 38:It is hard to describe the magnificence of this facility which is the result of a 5 year renovation by the owners who have owned it since 1920 thru 3 generations (originally built in the 1300’s as a fortress to defend Florence from Sienna). My wife and I stayed 5 days at the end of a 17 day trip that included Rome and Venice. This was a great wind down after the city experience of those places. The multiple villages within a short driving distance with the breathtaking countryside views were fantastic. A great thanks to Julian (the elder owner), Francesca (his son), Alice (Manager I think), and Josepe (the dining room manager). These people make you feel right at home and are the friendliest people you can possibly meet. We will dream and hope we can afford to travel back to Italy someday so we can stay here again.
Review 39:The room is outstanding. We stayed just one night but we could stay all our trip. Amazing View. Well located if you want to explore the Chianti area. The owner is passioned about producing wine and available to a oriented visit to his winery and tasting. The best Chianti Classico (Grand Selezione) we've ever tried. Would definitely come back.
Review 40:The location is beautiful. The grounds are so well kept and it is breath taking. We arrived and were created and treated to a glass of wine in the garden. We had a wonderful stay. The family and staff are so welcoming. The food in the restaurant was the best we had in our travels throughout Italy.
Review 41:leaving the place.
Review 42:the kindness of the staff, the perfect condition of every single detail (never seen before in Italy), the location on a hill between Siena and Florence, and the good taste of the owner, perpetuating the style of centuries while offering todays standard at the same time.
Review 43:Liked every thing.
Review 44:The location, the history of the Castello, the staff, the food, etc, etc, were exceptional. Francesco and his staff treated us like family. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return. It's a special place.
Review 45:nothing to dislike
Review 46:We like everything: rooms, location, restaurant was fantastic, grounds were beautiful, staff was fantastic, --- we just loved it and will come back. thank you LaLeccia
Review 47:Nothing
Review 48:A spectacular setting over looking the Tuscan vineyards and valley. The staff was beyond accommodation , all spoke English and made u feel at home.
Review 49:None
Review 50:Everything is perfect. Owner and all staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is located on the hill with panoramic view of Tuscany. Everything in the hotel is very beautiful, new and clean. There is a big bottle of wine as a complementary in your room. The hotel restaurant is also very good, food and wine are pretty delicious with reasonable price.
Review 51:It seems mean to criticise anything at this wonderful place, but dinner would have been perfect with freshly-made bread.
Review 52:We're not a young couple, but found Castello La Leccia to be an ideal place for a honeymoon. Staff were wonderful.
Review 53:Leaving
Review 54:Having travelled Italy for more than 15 years we have experienced many fantastic hotels. La Leccia is a standout. The historic castello has been modernized to impeccable standards without destroying the charm and beauty of past generations. The panoramic views are breath taking. The staff are there to please you from the moment of arrival until you depart. Breakfast is abundant, consisting of nearly everything being made in-house or locally sourced. Evening meals are sumptuous. Would I return? In a heartbeat. Would I recommend this property to my dearest of friends. You bet!
Review 55:Castello La Leccia is one of those rare properties you visit in your lifetime that you know you will never forget. A beautifully situated and designed boutique hotel with an exceptional attention to detail - perfectly marrying modern and traditional design elements within the historic castle structure. What makes this property really unique however is its provenance and the owners clear passion to bring the very best of Castello La Leccia, Castellina in Chianti and Tuscany to its guests. The owners who manage the property and its vineyard and their wonderful team strive to make every moment of your stay a pleasure whilst keeping a perfect distance to let you enjoy the serenity of the surroundings. There are many places in the region to dine but make sure you experience dinner on the terrace at Castello La Leccia. The fare is carefully chosen and wonderfully local and your host will match it perfectly with a wine from their own vineyard or further afield. We wished we could have stayed longer at Castello La Leccia but we know we will return.
Review 56:I may try for a hundred years, I won't find anything not to like.
Review 57:A fantastic location in the chianti hills with easy access ( by car ) to Florence, Siena and all the beauties of Tuscany. It is a small castle producing its own wine offering great food and breathtaking views .
Review 58:There is nothing I didn't like. I took a long, accidental detour cross-country when I thought I was on the 4KM hiking trail around Castello La Leccia. But that was my fault and I got additional guidance from the staff for my next try.
Review 59:Castello La Leccia is as beautiful as the photos. Even great photos can't capture the feeling of being there: peaceful, beautiful setting and scenery, elegantly updated. However, what makes it so special is the staff. We were checked in by Laura and she gave us a complete tour of the grounds, the common areas and our beautiful room. I didn't get the names of the other front desk staff--but found them and Laura so friendly and helpful our whole stay with local information. We planned 3 days stay, but after the first night we knew this was not enough. Fortunately, our room was available for 2 additional nights before the next guest and we changed our travel plans to stay longer. Breakfast is beautiful. Fresh fruit, yogurt, cheeses, salumi, fresh juices. Coffee made to order. Dinner on the pea-gravel terrace with the amazing views featured wonderful dishes--all served by Giuseppe. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes and the wine. We did the wine tour one evening before dinner with Salvatore, the owner. I enjoyed his narrative--very humbly describing how he "tries" to make wine. Of course the wine is excellent and well rated. The 2 bottles we took home are a treasure. We had a room with a separate entrance and a private terrace. Very well appointed, elegantly decorated. The pool area is on a lower terrace with spectacular views. Plenty of quality loungers including 2 sets under permanent shade pergolas. I hope to go back someday.
Review 60:It was absolutely faultless! Staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you! The hotel was beautiful and the view was absolutely breathtaking. We eat every night at there restaurant and it was Michelin star standard! Amazing!!
Review 61:Everything, it was beautiful, friendly, luxurious, well decorated, fantastically looked after and clean. Wonderful food, good entertainment and useful information. Could not have been better.
Review 62:Everything about this place is perfection. This was my first time in Tuscany. We were traveling with our two adult daughters, taking them on a special trip before they start post bachelor degree programs. My husband and I have have travelled extensively and stayed in our share of high end hotels. I can say, without a doubt, this is one of our top 2 all-time favorite places. I can not even begin to describe the beauty and serenity offered by Castello Laleccia. Even before we got there, the staff and owner himself catered to our every need. They answered my planning emails promptly and kindly, with grace and efficiency. I already felt like they went above and beyond before we ever got on the plane to Italy! Upon arrival, We were greeted by the most warm and welcoming group of professionals. Francesco himself carried in our luggage, while Alice gave us a tour of all the rooms and facilities, explaining every detail of the property from the owners philosophy toward his guests, to the green features which are so seamlessly employed in every aspect of the running of the property, to the lengthy amenities offered. The ground are stunning. The smells and colors and views and food and staff and atmosphere are second to none. We felt like royalty and truly did not ever want to leave. The only negative was that we were only booked for 2 nights. Next time, I will plan my whole stay here.
Review 63:Nothing really. It would be nice to have the reception open 24 hours a day. What if you get locked out in the middle of the night?
Review 64:Everything was just fantastic! All previous glowing reviews are spot-on!
Review 65:Absolutely heaven. We have nothing but positive things to about this place, the location, its staff, the ambience. It was the highlight of our trip to Italy, and a couple of days we will not forget.

Review 99:My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon here and loved it! The rooms, staff, grounds, food, and location are top notch!
Review 100:Everything
Review 101:Castello La Leccia was amazing. We only stayed one night but should have made it a week. The views are breathtaking, the grounds are pristine and beautiful, the rooms are the perfect blend of modernity meets Renaissance castle. The gracious and attentive staff made our stay even more delightful.
Review 102:Every detail and aspect of Castello La Leccia is beautiful - it's location, the Castello itself, the service, the warm reception, down to the personal notes that welcome you along with a gorgeous bottle of their Chianti. This place is boutique living at its finest. And nothing beats the personal welcome and wine tours by the owner Francesco. We can't recommend this place highly enough as a home base for anyone wishing to tour the Chianti region, learn about wine making and have a stay in the Castello.
Review 103:Beautiful setting. Luxurious rooms with modern contemporary finish. Leisurely breakfast on the patio a highlight of our whole holiday!! Great service, very enjoyable wine trip with Giorgio and cellar tour at the Castle with Francesco. Can't wait to go back!
Review 104:Top Location on a hill near Castellina in Chianti, owner Francesco, Alice, Beatrice and all others are great people and give you a great time. Not to forget the cook Antonio who's is cooking on a star niveau !!! Interesting is also how the rebuild the building with great materials and a lot of passion for beauty and respecting the land. Own winery, olive oil. It makes your stay in Toscany how you would imagine with beautiful landscape, wine and food and friendly people.
Review 105:Only that I didn't manage to spend more time at the Castello La Leccia!
Review 106:The location and the design of the hotel was fantastic. We liked how the hotel was almost brand new (having been recently restored), yet had been with the same family for a few generations. The restoration had obviously been completed very tastefully, with many original features having been retained, yet having discreet modern amenities and eco-friendly features. The property did not feel like a hotel at all - it felt more like a family home, lovingly restored, and open to the discerning public to share. Also, I had arrived very late at the hotel (almost 12 midnight) - yet the staff stayed up to wait for my arrival (normal check in hours were until 7pm I believe), and also called and emailed to make sure that I was safe and could find my way. This was greatly appreciated. I had also the pleasure of meeting the owner of the property - Francesco Daddi. Although my time at the property was too short and my partner and I did not have the privilege of visiting the wine cellars and sharing in the owner's obvious pride in his wines, Mr Daddi was very welcoming in our brief chat with him and we hope to be back in the near future to enjoy the property and to meet the owner again. All in all, an excellent property - we thoroughly enjoyed it, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Review 107:Dinner menu needs a bit of finessing. Maybe we just had bad luck withwhat we ordered, but the dishes were heavy handed and not visually wellpresented. Tomato roses went out of fashion years ago.
Review 108:It does not get better! This is my 35th visit to Italy so I have stayedin many places. Full marks to Francesco and his staff, especiallyBeatrice and Alice. Interior decoration was a perfect complement to the12th century exterior, in classical Italian contemporary. The islocation spectacular. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 109:The property is spectacular. Loved the wine tour and wine and olive oil tasting on site. Swimming pool area so relaxing to enjoy the afternoon sun. Rooms very beautiful with amazing finishings. Bathroom fittings were so classy and elegant. Liked the complimentary bottle of wine, fresh fruits and mineral water. Breakfast in outdoor garden was lovely and the restaurant was very good. Excellent service by everyone. They also managed to book us an amazing private cooking class! Unforgettable experience.
