Reviews for La Caletta
Review 1:The bad creaked
Review 2:Good place, picture landscape, excellent sea and beach (not far from hotel). Beautiful view from window to the sea. Tasty breakfast. No much tourists, gently, quiet town. Friendly, attentive service
Review 3:We loved absolutely everything about this accommodation. Nice, clean and quiet, with a beautiful roof top terrace with a sea view. Fabio is exceptional host and his boat trip is a must.
Review 4:The location has a huge terrace with a splendid sea view. Our comfortable room was silent and we had a big external private bathroom in front of the room. So that was not a problem. You can park the car near the location, but sometimes it was narrow to get in or out. Fabio, the owner, is very friendly, helpful and gave us valuable information for visits nearby. He speaks English fluently. We made also the nice boot trip offered by Fabio. He prepared a rich breakfast for us on the terrace. We could also use the kitchen to prepare fish that we bought in the harbor and with a very good wine supplied by Fabio, we had a great time having dinner on the terrace. We enjoyed our stay very much and we highly recommend it.
Review 5:Just a nice as the first time I stayed a couple of years ago. Fabio helped me find every place I was interested in seeing in Palermo and pointed out new ones as well. Again great location in a beautiful fishing village a short drive or train ride away from the exciting but yet hectic Palermo. Always recommend staying at a location like this.
Review 6:We were told immediately after booking that there's a EUR 15 additional charge for our 2 year old toddler per night although this is not mentioned on the booking.com website. Also there's no air con, breakfast is fairly simple and not served before 8.30 am which is quite inconvenient when you have a small child. It was difficult to find as it's not in Santa Flavia but Santa Elia (at least according to sign posts) and at the point of visiting the roof terrace was refurbished which is obviously just bad luck.
Review 7:Location, beaches nearby, the quiet village atmosphere, owner is very helpful and speaks very good English
Review 8:no worries:)
Review 9:Excellent host, boat trip provided by Fabio needs to be seen. Great roof top for romantic evenings available for all guests. Very close to the sea, you can almost jump from your bed:) Lovely place for a romantic holiday. Thank you, Fabio, for providing all services we needed. No worries:) Colin+Jana
Review 10:Leaving !!!
Review 11:Myself & my wife have just arrived back off our honeymoon, what can I say, we absolutely loved it, I would highly recommend visititing this lovely b&b with roof top terrace where you will have your breakfast looking out at amazing views. Fabio the owner is very helpful, full of facts about Sicily and very proud of his country. He is also very good at speaking English, very friendly & funny. Ether Fabio or Palo will taxi you around for a small fee to local train stations etc etc. Also he owns a boat I would highly recommend you take advantage of this, we swam with fish & also in caves, I can't express how wonderful our time with Fabio & his family was, you will have to experience it yourself, seeing is believing, there are local bars & resuarants which are very reasonably priced, Thank you so much we will be back to visit next year. I would give our holiday experience at la caletta 10/10, Scottie. & Lucy x thank you x
Review 12:Not much opportunities for going to cafe or restaurant
Review 13:Amazing harbour and a roof view
Review 14:Even for downshifters this kind of vacation could seem to be boring, because there is almost nothing to do in Santa Elia expect sunbathing and swimming, unfortunately. And the railway station is located not so close to the hotel. If you going to stay for few weeks you'd better rent a car: taxi prices are pretty high(70 euro to get to the airport,one-way)- having forgotten our drive licenses at home,we spent on transportation there more than we had spent on our flight tickets. As for the hotel, although our impressions were mostly positive,we didn't like some things. Firstly, breakfasts could be more diverse,as somebody here has already noticed not once. Either way,the view from the roof particularly corrects this minus. Secondly, during all 6 days here nobody changed our blankets and towels and, besides, we had to throw our garbage by ourselves.
Review 15:+ To begin with, I travelled with my mum and we were looking for a quiet and not-overcrowded by russian tourists(as Rimini,f.e.) place to cool down from the living in a big city. Well, in Santa Elia we definitely got it, because it is a tiny and nice village, where real Sicilian traditions and life can be found out. That's why I can recommend this place for people looking for quiet, little bit savage, perhaps, vacations. Besides, I could note really awesome nature and the sea. What for "La Calleta", we did like its owners, Fabio and his wife and that excursion organized by Fabio and surely we enjoyed the magnificent view from the roof during breakfasts.
Review 16:Breakfast was very limited to chose from and could be a lot better for the price we paid.
Review 17:The hotel was close by the sea and had a magnificent view from the rooftop. rooms are spacious enough as well.
Review 18:Parking wasn't actually on site, but we weren't adjacent to our room only one night, and only two minute's walk away.
Review 19:Fabio is a wonderful host, room very nice and the rooftop patio wonderful.
Review 20:Bit far out of Palermo, but there is a good cheap rail system not far from the hotel that gets into and back from the city pretty efficiently.
Review 21:The owner is a very friendly, helpful bloke who goes out of his way to make sure you have a good stay. There is a beautiful little rocky inlet 50 Metres from the hotel which would be brilliant place to swim in the warmer months
Review 22:Rocky beach, not the softest for long sunbathing. 2 reastaurants around the area open very late about 7-8 pm.
Review 23:Absolutely beautiful place, quite small village with friendly people. Hotel was clean and nice, Fabio and his wife are hospitable and helpful. Very close to Palermo just 20min by fast train. If you prefer quite places and not touristic spot, La colletta is for you
Review 24:Very kind, helpful and accommodating owners. It is located a short walk from the beach with excellent sea views from the rooftop terrace. The nearby archaeological site of Solunto is also well worth a visit.
Review 25:I would have liked a bit more of a selection at breakfast time
Review 26:The owner, Fabio was so helpful and a great host. He recommended some wonderful restaurants to eat in and directed us to nearby amenities. The B & B was very clean, simple and central.
Review 27:The owners are really lovely family. The restaurant they have recommended to us was one of the best during the whole trip to Sicily. There is also really worth visting archaeological place just upon the town. The breakfast was lovely on the sunny roof terrace accomponied with local fresh fruits and beautiful sea views. We would definetely come back to La Caletta.
Review 28:Thank you, Fabio, it was really great!! We loved our stay in La Caletta. The dinner on a roof prepared by the owner was amazing, with great views and lovely company. Next day Fabio took us snorkling - it was a very nice experience!
Review 29:We stayed for a week at La Caletta. It is an excellent place for a quietholiday, away from the city chaos. 20M to beach (rocky tough), lot ofnice restaurants within a 1km distance.Every morning breakfast on the roof gives you a fresh start of the day. Not to forget freshly baked cakes of Fabio. The place is ideal for people with car, as the nearest station is 2km far. But if one wants to relax, this is a perfect place. For a minimal price you can ask Fabio to prepare dinner for you.... and it will be a great Sicilian experience.
Review 30:Depends on how picky you are (of course). It was pretty quiet normally, unless you count the construction in the driveway 2 floors down from ouropen window that started at 7 am every morning with the cement mixer. The beach was very disappointing, tiny little strip of sand with a fewmajor pieces of plastic garbage floating along the shoreline. Thebreakfast in the morning I had been led to believe was going to besomething fairly exciting, but it was usually some fruit juice out of acarton, a baked loaf of sweet bread with fresh fruit in it, and one ofthe most mediocre cups of coffee I ever had, at least in Europe. We werepolite and said it was good, but it wasn'T. The parking was kind ofa nightmare - absolutely not enough room for all the cars of theneighbors sharing the parking space with the construction workers, though this was probably a one-time difficulty(?). If I were going backto this part of Sicily I would probably stay in Cefalu - our 1-hourdrive there one day was great. This was how I had pictured Santa Flaviaas being, and Santa Flavia was fine, but Cefalu had a wonderful beachand great shopping. Much more to do and more interesting things to see.Not sure how much it costs to stay in Cefalu, though, but assumingit's somewhat more, if you can afford it, I would stay there. But LaCaletta is a very good value.
Review 31:Breathtaking view from the rooftop, day and night. Fabio is veryfriendly and has good ideas of where to go within the 1-2 hourdriving/train ride perimeter of Santa Flavia. (He knows Palermo verywell and the day we spent there was really great). Nice big privatebathroom, though outside of the room with a key (some rooms haveinternal bathrooms, some don't). Generally speaking, we had a verynice time. There is a very nice restaurant within walking distance thathas an extensive menu for anywhere from 6-16 Euros for most dishes, andthe food there was excellent (seafood risotto and pasta with vongolewere great!). I'm glad we rented the car, even though we didn'tuse it a ton, we used it enough and we had a better experience as aresult, I believe. But...
Review 32:Everything about this place is wonderful. The pathway down to your own little rockpool/beach, sunbathing terrace, then walk around the corner for the beach bar.Perfect parking for a motorbike.Very comfy bed. Breakfast on the roof terrace.Give Fabio a days notice and he will cook you a traditonal dinner in his house, Thankyou Fabio it was very tasty.Next time we will stay longer.
Review 33:Small room and separated bathroom... but we know this before so is not really a negative thing...
Review 34:Fabio is super friendly! Thank you for everything. Breakfast on the terrace is amazing.
Review 35:Room was a bit small but OK for the price.
Review 36:Wonderful rooftop terrace with tremendous view.
Review 37:Very kind staff and a wonderful oceanview while having breakfast on the rooftop.
Review 38:The owner was a bit annoying
Review 39:Everything was from good to excellent
Review 40:Clean, very warm owners, a little bit difficult to find
Review 41:good place to visit Palermo without traffic chaos but by train. Trainstation in Santa Flavia.
