Reviews for Masseria Spetterrata

Review 1:The room was very, very dark with a terribly depressing outlook. It was a hot day and the air conditioning wasn't working, no air in room. When I complained I eventually got another too but was made to feel I was making a fuss over nothing.

Review 2:Hotel was situated on a lovely square in front of the sea.

Review 3:The building where the rooms are is far away from the main building ( where the kitchen and the restaurant is). It would be great to have some way to make oneself a cup of coffee/tea back in the room...

Review 4:The only complaint would be the roads of that part of Italy! very rutted and narrow.

Review 5:We can't say enough good things about this farm stay. Pierluigi was a perfect host, went out of his way to make us feel like family. The setting is beautiful, olive trees everywhere. The room very clean and comfortable.

Review 6:No heating (at the beginning of October I was cold in the room but we were given an extra duvet upon request but I was not comfortable at night with the temperature of the air I breathed in), no kettle in the room. Everything was damp. The Hungarian version of this property on Booking.com at the time of booking and up to this moment has described it as a hotel with free wifi. In fact this is a typical Italian agriturismo place with paid for wifi. We weren't charged for wifi when I mentioned this, but I had not been prepared for the lack of facilities and having to drive to another property for breakfast. First experience with a farm type but very classy accommodation leaves us convinced this is not for us but may be just what others want!

Review 7:The patio with the deck chairs. Pool. Good mattress. Nice view. Kind staff. Good breakfast. If you want absolute peace and quiet, this is your place!

Review 8:It was hard to reach by car because of the bad road. There was a limited choice of restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Review 9:Quiet landscape, nice pool and garden. Good food and facilities. Very friendly staff.

Review 10:A delightful, restful stay in an authentic, spotlessly clean, simply converted Italian farmhouse set on a hillside surrounded by a 40 acre olive farm with fabulous view. Clean, simply decorated rooms and good Italian food. Our host Pierluigi was a delight, helpful and hospitable, suggesting places to visit and even taking us to get our car repaired.

Review 11:We loved everything about our stay - the Masseria is so peaceful and the views are stunning. Best sleep in a long time! Pierluigi and Angela gave us plenty of tips to make the best of our two days - which we did. Would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Review 12:Restaurant of the masseria wasn't open at the evening, a big disappointment! No services at the pool. Long distance to the breakfast from the apartment. Not enough sockets for three persons (mobiles!).

Review 13:Very beautiful place with polite and kind service, excellent views, very nice pool, very clean, very quiet. There were nice restaurants at the town, and the owner advised us well about them.

Review 14:No wi-fi inside the private apartment we were upgraded to so that my my pregnant wife didn't have to walk far to the restaurant/breakfast room

Review 15:Perluigi the host was so welcoming and accommodating. Made our brief stay like home from home. Lots of space in the room/suite.

Review 16:Breakfast a little light for central/northern Europeans.

Review 17:Pierluigi is a great host and has the perfect recommendations to explore the surroundings and to dine out. The masseria is surrounded by thousands of olive trees at a stunning location - relaxation guaranteed. Also nice: All rooms have private terraces where you can enjoy an evening drink.

Review 18:Absolutely nothing at all

Review 19:Beautiful setting; well appointed rooms with private terraces; really well run; lovely pool and gardens; peace and quiet in the heart of an area with so much to do and see.

Review 20:It was a walk from our room to the breakfast/dining area. Not a problem but it would be easier closer to eachother. All walls were thick which lead to poor wifi quality inside - outside no problem

Review 21:Clean room with beautiful view over the valley, breakfast more than we expected (taking into account normal Italian breakfast)Very nice people ( in the first place owner Pierluigi) Real good value for money. We had one dinner at the Masseria, the food worth the money.

Review 22:Pierluigi is a wonderful host. Our superior double room was good sized, simply decorated, very clean. The entire facility is lovely. If their restaurant is open when you are there, be sure to take advantage. We had two delicious meals there.

Review 23:Could benefit from tea and coffee facilities in the rooms.

Review 24:Lovely rooms with breathtaking views amongst the olive groves. The food was amazing and the staff incredibly helpful. We enjoyed the short walk to the restaurant, but it might not suit some people.

Review 25:It didn't particularly bother us, but the property is fairly remote and the restaurant is not always open particularly in the evenings - if you want to go out to dinner you will need to drive 10-15 minutes or so to Ostuni or Cisternino.

Review 26:The rooms are located a little way up from reception and the restaurant on the side of a hill in the middle of this olive fadm- our bedroom and adjoining terrace area faced straight out over a superb panorama stretching right down to the sea. The owner Pierluigi was extremely considerate and helpful - happy to talk about the history of the area, recommend local restaurants and sights etc. Sunday lunch in the restaurant is not to be missed - a veritable feast, and excellent value at €25 a head including wine. We only stayed 2 nights but would love to have stayed longer and will certainly be back.

Review 27:nothing

Review 28:the warm and caring attitude of the owner, the beautiful rooms with stunning views over the olivetrees to the sea, a great breakfast buffet, the quietness and our own little terrace

Review 29:we selected this location on availability swimming pool but pool was - since long - not operational

Review 30:brilliant location, fantastic seaview, nice terrace, very good service

Review 31:No one explained that the restaurant would not be open every night. We booked this Masseria because it had a restaurant. It is not close to a major town. We ate at the restaurant our first night. Food was good and we planned to eat there the second night only to find it was closed. We had to quickly go into the little village to find some pizza. The facilities would be much improved with a coffee bar available near the rooms as it is a very long walk, or car ride to the breakfast room. Also, the walking path to the restaurant was not well lit and so we had to use cell phone flashlight when walking to dinner.

Review 32:The location on the hill and view from room terrace was spectacular. The rooms were fresh and updated. The staff was very nice and were attentive to fixing/adjusting the airconditioning when we asked.

Review 33:Difficult to find initially as GPS couldn't locate the property and roads not very well signed or good. Would be nice to have kettle and tea/coffee in room.

Review 34:Owner and staff all very welcoming and helpful.Room comfortable and clean, shower hot.

Review 35:Delightful owner who was most helpful and kind. Beautiful location and lots to visit in the surrounding area. Very good breakfasts and one dinner, in elegant surroundings.

Review 36:An outdoor breakfast opportunity would be appreciated. Walking distance from room to breakfast not insignificant (no disturbance for us, but good to know)

Review 37:Nice and new place with good breakfast and decent free wifi. Very friendly staff

Review 38:The old road going up to the rooms was difficult to navigate- lots of pot holes.

Review 39:The location was great if a little difficult to find at first, Don't rely on gps. Staff were friendly and the massseria has some lovely architectural features. The breakfast was very good.

Review 40:Nothing. The steps from room to breakfast are no problem for healthy people.

Review 41:We felt really welcome and really enjoyed talking to Pierluigi (owner) about the historie of Puglia, olive-farming end so on. Friendlyness and hostmanship all around, also during the superb breakfast from Angela. Diner, served in weekend, is very good and for the other nights Pierluigi can give excellent recommoandations. The view from the terrass and swimmingpool is great! We really enjoyed our 3 night in Masseria Spetterrata.

Review 42:The only minor complaint was the windows of the room we were in didn't have mosquito netting on, so we weren't able to sleep with the window open. Probably not a problem for most but they like me!

Review 43:The location is great, a real sense of being in the middle of nowhere, so quiet. We were upgraded for no extra cost and the owner Pierluigi was very welcoming and helpful. The view from the rooms and the pool are lovely.

Review 44:We booked a room with sea view and did not get it. Dinner was ok, anti pasta was ok but it was a bit disappointing

Review 45:The property is set in a beautiful place. There is a wonderful pool Room is ok. breakfast is excellent

Review 46:Our room was a little small although well furnished and comfortable nonetheless.

Review 47:Pierluigi was a very friendly and helpful host who made our stay an absolute pleasure. We enjoyed the tranquility of the masseria and also it's excellent location for getting to most places of interest in puglia. We also greatly enjoyed the dinners organised by the masseria which were delicious and excellent value.

Review 48:we would have loved to take the breakfast outside.

Review 49:We received a very warm welcome by the host who was always there to help and guide us! We loved the masseria that is very well maintained. Very good breakfast, nice pool with a view, very quiet and excellent location to visit the heart of Puglia.

Review 50:Great welcoming from the English speaking owner at arrival. Nice and shaded area outside the room A lovely pool with stunning view. Very good breakfast!

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:The rooms were very modern and clean and the pool was nice with views of the sea.The breakfast was excellent. The owner , Pierluigi, was very welcoming and informative. We would definitely go back there to stay if we are in that area.

Highly recommended, would love to go back!

Review 70:Everything was perfect!

Review 71:New rooms in nicely arranged, peaceful masseria with beautiful garden and panoramic views. Very friendly people, tasty breakfasts. In close distance (by car) from stunning Ostuni as well as from the beaches.

Review 72:Unfortunately the restaurant was closed so we had to drive into town for dinner.

Review 73:Beautiful grounds and pool. Pierluigi, the owner, was very friendly and gave us many useful infos. Delicious and abundant breakfast served by Angela who was very pleasant. Overall a perfect place for both relaxation and sightseeing

Review 74:We had a lovely week in this wonderful Masseria with a fantastic view of the sea. Great hospitality provided by Pierluigi and Angela, wonderful food, pleasant surroundings and a nice atmosphere.

Review 75:A very warm, welcoming atmosphere awaits you at Masseria Spetterrata. The staff and the owner do their absolute best to make you feel comfortable and at home. It is situated in perfect position for all kind of small excursions, to the beach or to one of the nearby little towns. All worthwhile! The breakfast is abundant and include both homemade treats and bread as yoghurt and coffee. Unfortunately we didn't have the chance to try their homemade dinner which is supposed to be really good!

Review 76:Warm welcome from owner, he was very helpful. Room was very nicely decorated, bathroom facilities good. Great views, good walking & bicycle possibilities. Breakfast was good, eggs offered, which is unusual! Close for trips into Cisternino, Martino Franco, etc. Drive over the hill thru forest very nice!

Review 77:People should just know that the property is large. They are still developing lighted walking paths. I had a great time discovering all the little projects that were underway. This place is going to be even more amazing as each little project gets completed!

Review 78:Rugged beauty! It was so quiet. And no light polution so the night skies were amazing! We travelled for the first time with our 4 year old (big!) dog. The host was extremely accommodating as our dog adjusted to being around so many different people, sights, sounds. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Upon arriving at Masseria Spetterrata, our host greeted us with a nice bottle of red wine. Who wouldn't like that?!
