Reviews for Residence Porto Mannu
Review 1:We went 12th - 26th September 2015 and during our second week the hotel proactively started shutting down, it was noticeable that the cleaning was focused on shutting the hotel for the winter and not general cleaning around. The pool and paved areas around the pool and bar were not cleaned for the 2 weeks we were there. The spa that is prominent in their website had already closed for the winter when we arrived so that was very disappointing As we had only booked residence we didn't get any room cleaning for 2 weeks, but we did get new towels and bed sheets, but we had to change the beds ourselves. Nice beach but you have to pay for the loungers €15 = 2 loungers and an umbrella. no reduction for low season !! Despite my negatives it was good value for money, but the hotel needs to keep an eye on the the details.
Review 2:Loved the location and the staff were very friendly. Room was comfortable with all we needed. we opted for residence only so had a kitchenette and separate bedroom. Bed was comfortable. We had a nice terrace with an lovely view of the bay. Great location for visiting Palau, Cannigione, and boat trips to the Archipelago.
Review 3:Buffet style food Distance from room to facilities too far for elderly grandparents to walk Facilities for 7 okay for short stay but could be cramped if long term
Review 4:Staff nice and helpful lovely location Would return again as a family of five with children aged 12.15 and 16. Comfy beds Lots of personal outdoor space Excellent beach Better than 3 star rating
Review 5:the rooms are very old with poor maintenance. would use serious renovation. the location is a bit hard to find. no wi fi in the rooms.
Review 6:stayed for one night. 5 min' drive from Palau. the price is reasonable, view is fantastic, breakfast is nice and the staff is helpful and welcoming. the beach and pool looks very nice but we didn't had the chance to use them.
Review 7:Simple breakfast - no variety, WLAN doesn't work well in the apartment, small bathroom.
Review 8:Nice view to the beach and to capo d'orso, well maintained garden and beach.
Review 9:However, the apartment looked really old. That was not the impression from the pictures... In all the pictures from Porto Mannu, there is only one picture from one room, which looks correct and NO one single picture of any bathroom. Either we ended in one of their oldest and non renovated ones... The bathroom was really OLD. Internet was only available in reception and only for 30 minutes...!!
Review 10:The beach was really there and the global location was nice. The price was very good... now I understand why. And the staff was very helpful.
Review 11:I was not very happy for the bedbugs in the babybed. Even if they change it the day after an excuse would have been nice. And maybe a free fee for the babybed that night that caused plenty of itches. The distance to the nearest village, Palau, was to long and even the way to the local bus to the village.
Review 12:Fantastic view over the ocean and very Close to the beach! Pretty good breakfast, but the buffé in the evening not quit so good.
Review 13:The wifi was only available on the publc areas and worked on a time basis, the rooms had no internet at all. The resort is reachable mostly by car.
Review 14:The resort facilities included a private beach and a diving school, the lanscaping of the grounds was very well done and the views towards the sea were beautifull. The staff was friendly and helpfull.
Review 15:Wi-Fi was only on reception zone(( Shower is so-so..
Review 16:The place is absolutely beautiful! Nice location! We stayed there for 3 days. small villa had everything - new furnitures, tv, hairdrier, airconditioner, towels were new daily) Breakfasts were quite good. Although there was very poor choice of hot meal.
Review 17:Depending on the appartment you get, the view may be very different. Close to the restaurant, almost no view; on the top of the hill, very good one. Bathroom very old, needs to be refurbished. Beds quite soft. Cleaning not very good. Very small swimming pool for so many people.
Review 18:The hotel is situated in a very nice area
Review 19:Really not what we were expecting- felt more like a Butlins holiday camp than a hotel. Staff were friendly but not much else going for the place other than that. The furniture in the room was tatty and stained, and the bathroom wasn't large enough to swing a cat in. WiFi was non-existent, despite what we were told. The whole place could do with immediate modernisation. Bit of a shame really, given the price.
Review 20:Friendly staff
Review 21:Room was clean and comfortable. Outside seating area was good. Lovely location, but need a car. Staff friendly and helpful. Relaxed family feel to the hotel. Ample choice of food in the buffet
Review 22:Music played out ridiculously loud in common areas most days, breakfast very disappointing, in general food quality quite poor, bedroom quite basic, wifi-very patchy and not working in bedrooms.
Review 23:Beautiful gardens, very well maintained, spectacular sea views, private beach (even though very small and 15 euros a day to rent parasol and loungers!!).
Review 24:Facilities are old-fashioned. Back in 70' Everything is very worn. In the kitchen complete lack of cookware. Kitchenette without electrical teapot. Hmm. Wifi and internet is completely useless. Have tried to connect 5 times - succeed only once with the speed of 28 b/s and ping 800 - "hello dial up" ... Only a few persons from the staff understands English, thankfully all are very polite and sweet. Restaurant is total disaster in terms of national cuisine and not cheap at all. Animation in hotel maybe is funny but ONLY if you are Italian. Swimming pool is useless - too high chlorine level in water feels unpleasant. Our kids didn't want to use at all.
Review 25:Beach is just perfect. Actually the best one in the region. Position of hotel is very good. Palau just 8 min. away by car. Car MUST HAVE
Review 26:1. Ants in the room 2. Poor air conditioning and stove 3. All staff were friendly except one who had no custom oriented mind 4. 7 euro per additional child per night was not mentioned in the booking.com
Review 27:1. Location to the beach 2. Gardening
Review 28:1. Ants in the room 2. All the staff were kind but one 3. Poor air conditiong and stove 4. Unclear and different children policy. 7 euro per additional child per night was not mentioned in the booking.com
Review 29:Many wasps in the restaurant and bar. Diffiucult to eat outside because of that. Far from the nearest supermarket. Expensive With sunbeds on the beach.
Review 30:Very good food at the restaurant. Beautiful surroundings. Nice beach. Peaceful during nighttime.
Review 31:We were very disappointment with the food and the dining accomodation in Porto Mannu. Breakfast is really terrible (you even have to eat with plastic spoons), and dinner is even worse. They serve a buffet style dinner, but it is not fresh at all, and the choice is very limited. We did not even feel to go for a second round...
Review 32:Leaving to somewhere else
Review 33:As for the value for money: it does not worth it, too much money for a place like that, even because you need to pay 20 cents for a shower on the beach!!! :( And then i didn't mention the high rent-price for the sunbeds and the umbrellas :(
Review 34:The hotel itself was perfect, as for the location and the senseful rooms as well. The beach was near to the residence rooms,so were the swimming pools. The staff were able to help us anything we needed. Breakfast was ok.
Review 35:Rooms were old and definitely needed some updating. Looked like grandma's furniture from the 50's painted in green. The bathrooms were not very clean. Did not specify when we booked that it was a self catering apt and there would be no cleaning or linen service. Had to pay extra for more clean towels.
Review 36:Staff was friendly and helpful. Small supervised kids club. Great location on the beach made up for the old depressing rooms.
Review 37:beach service (sunbeds and umbrellas) not included in price, no wifi in app.
Review 38:nice beach on site, good equipped kitchen, nice and spacious appartment for family 2+2
Review 39:The restaurant is way below average. Pizzas must be ordered in advance at the bar, and they taste real salty. Car is absolutely necessary as the nearest shop is several km away.
Review 40:The place is beautiful, has easy access to a nice beach, a decent pool, and bar service with many tables.
Review 41:No sun beds by the pool. Pool closes between 2pm to 4pm. Teflon dishes don't have any teflon left on them. Ants all over the bungalow. Nearest grocery store in Palau (5km).
Review 42:Nice beach.
Review 43:negative points: no wifi in the apartment, no little shop in the resort for basic things like fresh bread in the morning etc. Expensive to rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach. Pool very small and closed in the afternoon. 6 km away from Palau, need a car.
Review 44:Liked the great view over the beach from our apartment far up on the hill, very quiet. Great beach, wonderful water, you do not need to go to Costa Esmeralda, this one is very good. apartment is clean, kitchen utensils very practical, enough dishes
Review 45:Animation on the beach (before noon, approx. 1,5 hour of noisy music) Just next to our apartment was a small place, where young boys used to play football just during the siesta. Management of the hotel should do something against it, as they are very noisy. Approx. 5 km far away from Palau, where shops and restaurants are located. Better to come with own car.
Review 46:Helpful staff, privacy, nice apartments
Review 47:The apartment was "ok" - decor and bathroom tired and outdated...the toilet was located directly in front of the shower, meaning sitting on it sideways ! The BBC channel on the TV rarely worked and the Air Con kept tripping out and never fixed. The very loud music for Zumba and evening dancing was a nusiance. Though it did not go on much past 11pm. The beach was very crowded & the hawkers trying to sell you tat ALL THE TIME were a pain. The ~1.5 hours of very loud water Zumba on the beach was also a surpriise we were not expecting. After the 2nd day on the beach we did not return there and found a small quiet beach with few people, no Zumba or Hawkers the location of which I am going to keep a sectret :-)
Review 48:The apartment location was near to reception, pool and beach meaning the walk to the beach and gardens was easy compared to the first apartment we were offered some way up the hill.
Review 49:You need to drive if You need anything for your basics in case of self catering.
Review 50:Perfect location if You are looking for a nice and relatively quiet place, which is well looked after. Staff is very helpfull and flexible.
Review 51:You have to pay for umbrellas and sunbeds atthe beach. When you book room wih the sea view, you get almost no sea view. Check-out is at 10, but while your are at breakfast (until 9),the room is started to be cleaned with your stuff and all luggage being packed by cleaning ladies (?!) and left outside the room. Wifi does not work at all.
Review 52:The wifi is useless. It should be free via a router not via a website login. Providing free wifi is a no brainer for any hotel. It should not say on the website that free wifi is available.
Review 53:Rancid smell in the apartment. Ants in the kitchen. Hot water lasted for barely one shower. Extremely unhelpful staff. Two single beds together not one double. In need of an update. Beach costs 15€ per day per person ...
Review 54:Only the location.
Review 55:Facilities in the complex are very limited. For food there's justthe fixed-price buffets or (during the day only) slices of pizza and afew other bits from the bar. To stock your self-catering kitchen youneed to drive to Palau and figure out where the supermarket is - notbetween 13.30 and 16.30 when it's closed. There are no provisions onsite. If the weather is bad (it was very windy when we were there)there's absolutely nothing to do, as even the bar area is outsideand exposed. The buffet restaurant seating area feels like a canteen anddoesn't allow you to enjoy the view over the bay while eating.Don't get excited about the presence of flat screen TVs as all thechannels are Italian. Except for bbc world news - the only channel withno sound! For English language reading materials, all we could find wasa handful of books and newspapers in the back of a dusty newsagent 20mins drive away. There was a complete absence of instructions, guide toresort, etc., which would have been really helpful. For example, wecould have done with a map showing us where to put the rubbish, as therooms aren't cleaned. After a week we received a package of freshsheets and towels, but not any service to go with them. Pathway rightoutside apartment meant constant noise from people walking / kidsrunning past and lack of privacy on terrace.
Review 56:Accessibility to beach - for us it was great, but maybe not soconvenient if you get allocated an apartment that's further away.Beds were nice and comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Just as wellas there are no instructions / guide to the resort provided. If youdon't ask, you won't find out! The power sockets don't fitstandard European plugs - you can get an adaptor for free at reception, but you don't know that till you ask! There are some activities -daily aqua-fitness and zumba, for free, but these aren't publicisedunless you take the trouble to seek out the notice board or happen to bein the public area where they take place and find your peace suddenlyand possibly unwelcomely shattered. Food in buffet was plentiful, variedand tasty. Good value at 22 Euros pp for dinner.
Review 57:1) Staff did speak VERY bad english 2) WiFi available only in reception with a need of continious reconnection after 30 minutes 3) Breakfast terrible. 4) Standard room old and chair outside broken.
Review 58:nothing to add
Review 59:Excellent and relaxing. Porto Mannu is a great location if you want to visit the nord side of Sardinia. The rooms are very good and the kitchen fully equipped. Very close the the privat beach. Restaurant buffet had very good food. If you're planning to visit Sardinia its a must to rent a car or a scooter.
Review 60:We spent three nights at Porto Mannu and our appartment didn't get cleaned, nor did we get fresh towels. But overall we were content.
Review 61:Porto Mannu offers spacious appartments with a very nice pool and beach. You do need a car to explore the surroundings. Restaurant Cucumiao, just outside Palau, is worth the drive for an excellent Sardinian meal.
Review 62:Nothing!
Review 63:Located in a fantastic cove with a great sandy beach. Crystal clear water, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Excellent value restaurant with a great choice of food.
Review 64:1. Beach. They have sun beds there and it costs 15 euro per day! You can not lie on the beach before these sun beds (guard ask us to leave) and for normal people there is a small part of the beach available, and as guard said to us they will not help us on that part of the beach, they don't care. At the hotel confirmed it and said we need to buy sun beds. I think its a service2. Appartment was not very clean. Spoons, forks, cups we have to wash before use. 3. Restaurant at hotel was really bad! First of all its expensive, but even at that price food quality was really bad. Will not recommend to eat there.
Review 65:Hotel is nice, everything was as we expected for this price. Of causeyou need a car in this place, we drive from Alghero airport, took us 2hours and without car there is nothing to do in such hotels. Location isperfect, 2 min walk to the beach, 10 min driving to Palau, 25 mindriving to Porto Cervo. Staff was very friendly. No problem with parkingof cars. Pizza in the bar was excellent, if you order it before 14.00you can receive it at 19.00
Review 66:The kitchen was not great. it is a little bit far from Palau. You need a car if you want to go out in Palau for dinner/lunch.
Review 67:the view from the terrace. It has a nice private beach.
Review 68:Expensive meals of average quality. AC only cooling living room, whereas bedrooms got to warm to sleep comfortably. Mosquitos and no protection against bugs. Only single roll of toilet paper given for 4 people, and no extra roll given even at request. Next shopping facility in Palau only in driving distance.
Review 69:Private beach great (though equipment would have to be rented for pay). Friendly staff at reception.
Review 70:You have to pay for the umbrella and matress on the Hotel beach.
Review 71:Location is interesting near Palau where you can take boats to visit Maddalena Archipelago and Capo d'Orso. 30 min drive from other great locations to visit (Costa smeralda, Porto Cervo, Santa Teressa Gallura). Ideal for familly, beach, swimming pool and activities for kids but also a SPA. Spacious appartments well equiped for the kitchen, and nice garden and terrasse with view on the sea. Finally the staff is very friendly and always ready to help you.
Review 72:Remote from main town, car essential.Cold buffet at 22 euros was not very appealing. Most beach space was taken by hotel umbrellas - some free space
Review 73:Location. Very nice views Good organization of the resort. Nice beach.Relaxing, quiet, clean place. Good for families. Bar had a good range offood and drinks.
Review 74:The room service was not included - no cleaning provided for 3 nights stay. We also had to pay for the seats on the beach, which I expected to also be included in the room price.
Review 75:The apartment on the terrace has no privacy. If the neighbors are noisy you can't do much about it.
Review 76:The location and the view from the apartment are very beautiful. The apartment was quite spacious for 3 people.
Review 77:During 2nd week in neighbor apartment was family with 2 boys and Labrador and in the morning it was a bit noisy
Review 78:Perfect place, excellent sea and facilities, car is absolutely mast. Good territory : garden, capo verdure and shores, beaches. Good animation activity for young , very young, and adults.
Review 79:Vacuum cleaner in the apartments and some renovation will make it a 4 star residence.
Review 80:Sea: shallow entrance for small kids. Nice evening animation for all kids irrelevant of their language. WiFi: free around the beach area. Capo d'Orso (Cape of the Bear) heights visit is a must - stunning views. Some tips: Beach (sand): 2 sunbeds and a parasol 15 eur whole day, 8 eur from 13.00; you can use you own parasol and beach towels, but it's busy on weekends. Apartments: well equipped, but I missed a spatula to make pancakes and omelette. Recommend to take with you small necessities as salt and spices; small bottles of dish washing liquid and all-purpose cleaner; kitchen towels, sponge, rubber gloves - enough for your stay and it will all fit in your hand luggage; earplugs, for in case your neighbours are noisy. Don't forget a sweat coat and a raincoat. All the rest (including sun/rain umbrellas) you can buy at EuroSpin, Palau, - it's the cheapest and has a nice choice. Porto Mannu is well located to visit northeast Sardinia by car: we travelled to the neighbouring Santa Tereza Gallura, Porto Rotondo, Porto Cervo, Arzachena, Cannigione, Costa Paradiso. And after visiting all these places all of our group decided that Porto Mannu was the best place to stay. One week in eastnorth is enough: try out Stintino and surroundings even if your airport is Olbia. Olbia-Alghero route is quite relaxed. Orosei Bay (Olbia) has nice beaches, but with deep sea entrance, and the nicest beaches could be mostly reached by buying full-day boat trips, not for small kids.
Review 81:The individual apartment is really nice. It is especially suitable for family and good friends. Nice beach and swimming pool. It is very near to Palau.
Review 82:We visited quite a few places nearby by and around the island. We can tell that it was the best value for money. We would certainly return and would not waste time searching elsewhere.
Review 83:Not much - maybe the beach is too small, but if one has a car, it's manageable...
Review 84:Location Amenities Staff The quality of the grass - children running barefoot all day round...
Review 85:Our apartment did not have really nice view, there was no kettle in the otherwise fully equipped kitchen. The staff of the restaurant was rather unfriendly and was not able to explain why one day it was too early at 7.30PM to order pizza, and why the following day at 8.30PM it was already too late.
Review 86:Very close to the beach. Easy to reach other nice locations, beaches or shops (but only by car!).
Review 87:the complex was surprisingly large. for our place, you needed a car to get back to the beach. but no problem since parking is available. furniture was from the 80s but still ok.
Review 88:real nice and clean private beach with sand and grass, close to 2 pools. brilliant views and good service. restaurant and bar. animation for kids and some sport activities are offered on a daily basis. (in italian). our appartment was large and had a superb view.
Review 89:Apartment is very basic. No kettle, oven, toaster, grill, freezer. Hobs are dodgy and when we requested it to be looked at no one ever came. It's not a great apartment if you suffer with back back etc as it's not very comfy and sofa was just a bed with a few cushions. No windows in the apartment, air flow was only if you had the doors open (not ideal at night) or air con which is only in the living room. No wifi except in reception and only 30 mins free, it's slow! Expensive buffet restaurant which doesn't have much choice and isn't great. Could do with updating the resort generally it's quite shabby. We complained the day after we arrived and our neighbours left the day after arriving....
Review 90:Beach was great and sea was lovely. The resort is clean. Ask for a sea view when booking, it was great from the patio. Fairly good location if flying to/from Olbia and rent a car. Recommend the ferry to Maddelena and drive across bridge to Caprera for good walks. Good places to visit: Porto Cervo and Port Rapheal.
Review 91:- the cooker stove was not working - no provacy on the terrace
Review 92:- spacy apartment, big enough for about 5 people - positioned very well near Palau where from you can take the daily trips by boat to the islands - lot of green and space between the houses - good breakfast and luch
Review 93:Cafe expensive, young lady making coffee overcharged me however what was the point for 50c..however if she did this with every customer she would certainly make a wee profit..
Review 94:Great location, staff professional, family orientated...perfect for long stays...
Review 95:The room is quite old. The wifi connection doesn't arrive to the room
Review 96:It is a quiet and outside of the room the place is nice.
Review 97:Nice place near cape d'orso and at the beach, friendly people at the reception
Review 98:Everything except the beach
Review 99:The beach is very nice
Review 100:- old furniture in rooms - air condition not working properly - ants and other insects
Review 101:- location, - staff at reception - restaurant
Review 102:Nothing that would come into my mind.
Review 103:A lovely grounds in a pleasant location.
Review 104:Noisy water heater in apartment
Review 105:Location and beach
Review 106:The facilities needs updating, the beach could be sandy and with free parasols for the guests.
Review 107:Good location
Review 108:Great helpful and super friendly personnel.
Review 109:WiFi was very very poor and caused me problems when booking next hotel. This needs attention.
Review 110:Location
Review 111:Excellent value for money, very relaxing place by the sea shore. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 112:We live close by see and apartments wad wery wet with bad smelling.
Review 113:The location on a nice beach, well tended gardens, clean, comfortable accommodation, nice food friendly staff.
Review 114:Swimming pool with sea water Kitchen missing clothes and washing liquid
Review 115:The view and environment was beautiful
Review 116:The low pillow
Review 117:Having breakfast in front of the sea, the silence, location in General, the clothes dryer
Review 118:The staffs couldn.t speak english
Review 119:No wifi in the room
Review 120:good location, beach
Review 121:Double bed was uncomfortable (2 twin beds together) Few fruits at breakfast
Review 122:Staff was amazing, specially Fran. Location is perfect for those who rent a car and want to stay out of the fuss in porto cervo/porto rotondo. Really recommend boat trip in il vagabondo
Review 123:There is nothing to do there without car. You can reach Palau only by car - there are no buses or something. Rooms are small, there is not enough plates and dishes. Nobody came to clean our room, they only brought towels. Bad noise insulation: if your flatmates are noisy you'll go crazy
Review 124:Friendly staff, nice territory, good swiming pool. Beach is really very close. Spa center with nice prises
Review 125:Parking is not always close to the apartments and you have to carry yourluggage up the hill and a for a good distance! The rooms are very stuffyand the air-condition is only in the leaving room and does not really domuch. The hotel needs renovation. The decor, bathrooms, etc is old andnot becoming. Its all about "you have pay for this and you have topay for that". This was out 10 min introduction to the hotel. Theycharge par day for a beach towel and this is a beach resort?!! Theycharge the wrong credit card and were not able to correct it. Only thelast transaction can be un-done on their system?!!! You need a car...There is nothing in the immediate surroundings of the hotel. You need anhour from the Olbia airport to they charge €35 for one way / perperson for airport transport.
Review 126:Friendly Staff Nice view from the apartment
Review 127:Lack of good restuarants in walking distance.
Review 128:Attractive view from appartment terrace, convinient and not crowded beach, nice surroundings of Costa Smeralda, a lot of places to visit around by car or scooter.
Review 129:Wi-Fi is not luxury but necessity! It only works around reception?!Very, very expensive sun beds and umbrellas (15 €/day/set).Beach is full of sunbeds and has very limited place to stay withouthiring the beds. There is no beds possibilities around the pool.Personnel has very limited English knowledge. If you are looking forsport activities we advise you to avoid this place as well.
Review 130:If you like sandy beaches, quiet and nice place to stay, Italian food, nice surrounding scenery....this is the place to stay. If you arelooking for night life avoid this place :-). The guests are mostlyItalians, young families and some older people. The staff is helpful. You can arrange your stay even out of check in/out hours (veryuseful if you have late night ferry)....unfortunately we did not knowthat, since on Booking is not mentioned anywhere. Please also correctthe price for Wi-Fi, It costs 10€/week.
Review 131:No supermarket or grocery store nearby (we knew that from before) - 6 kmto nearest. Prices for the sunbeds - € 15 per day for 2 beds + umbrella. We staid 4 people for 10 days and decided to lay on towels on the sandmost of the time! The snack bar at the pool side was a bit shabby, couldhave made it more in line with the rest of hte resort
Review 132:The flat (with washng maschine) and beautiful view from the terrasse. The beach. The resort it self. Gameds like biljard for the kids.
Review 133:Well organized and very pleasant place. It has a nice view from the cafe terrace.
Review 134:Restaurant
Review 135:Location Space
The Fine Print
Please note that the restaurant is open from May until September.Parasols and sun loungers can be rented on the beach at an extra cost.
