Reviews for Hotel Belvedere Di San Leonino
Review 1:Beautiful little hotel with wonderful restaurant and on site parking. Great location to explore the beautiful Chianti area. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Fabulous!
Review 2:Beautiful, old, stone buildings. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Situated in the country, the staff will give you a few options with directions for day trips to San Gimignano, Volterra and Florence.
Review 3:We stayed at room next to the kitchen and dining area. It's a bit noisy during the night. The location is a bit confusing. Definitely should use GPS not google map.
Review 4:Magnificent view. Friendly staff
Review 5:Paying for a towel for the hot tub and use of the hot tub. I felt nickled and dimed on amenities that should be included for the price they are charging.
Review 6:Great location. Wonderful staff. Lots of amenities. We enjoyed getting breakfast and dinner at the hotel for a fee, of course. Close to most of the Chianti Region and Siena.
Review 7:The facilities were shocking - in the bathroom there was a plug socket left exposed with wires hanging out, the room was incredibly old fashioned with very bad lighting and an uncomfortable bed... And the swimming pool is right by the road, with the constant noise of traffic. Also, very chavvy. You have to pay extra to hire pool towels!
Review 8:We only booked to stay 2 days, we will certainly go back
Review 9:Very welcoming staff, the hotel was delightful! Food was excellent, tiramisu was amazing! Room was very comfortable - our favourite hotel of our trip travelling around Tuscany
Review 10:We loved this hotel and wish we would have had more than one night here. It is a 5-10 minute drive from Chianti but we didn't mind that at all. The room was cozy and felt like you were at home and the views were amazing. Staff is very friendly and speaks English very well.
Review 11:ZERO
Review 12:location in the countryside and yet close to the city of Siena, it was so peaceful with the most friendly staff, with food that you wanted to stay in for.
Review 13:Fantastic location, great pool, phenomenal restaurant, brilliant staff... I can't rave enough about this place. Our favourite spot of our entire 2 week trip.
Review 14:We were given a ground floor room which had a lovely view over the back garden but also the restaurant and therefore not a great deal of privacy. There is no wine tasting on the site which was one of the reasons we booked this place.
Review 15:Wonderful scenery and closely located to Siena. We used the swimming pool and also bar and restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was the best we had during our stay in Tuscany. Wifi in the room was great. Room was very spacious and nicely decorated.
Review 16:The property is in a beautiful location and is close to other towns where we could explore the Tuscan countryside. Christine in reception was very helpful in helping us to arrange Vespa rentals and wine tastings. We had fantastic dinners in their restaurant.
Review 17:Loved the authentic Tuscan feel of this rustic former farmhouse with a quaint family feel. Breakfast can be enjoyed on their garden patio and dinner is served at sunset in their romantic terrace garden. Returning from daytrips to the aromas of dinner cooking in the kitchen was welcoming & comforting! The staff was very helpful arranging sightseeing trips for us & recommending surrounding restaurants. Conveniently located between Florence and Siena in the heart of the Chianti Classico region made it easy to visit the many Tuscan medieval villages and wineries and return home to a peaceful retreat!
Review 18:High charge for extra kids bed, extremely slow service at check out, breakfast was not expensive but could have been as nice as the hotel itself.
Review 19:Wonderful location, clean pool, clean rooms, good service.
Review 20:A small pool compare to the size of the hotel and a small road is very close to the pool
Review 21:Nice hotel with a lot of services and a very nice and dedicated staff Inside chianti hills but only 10km from Sienna
Review 22:The Belvedere is a great Hotel in a lovely setting. It is very well run and the staff are friendly and attentive. Our stay was completely relaxing and was topped off with excellent food and a great wine list.
Review 23:Very crowded at the pool area and many children. Hotel situated at the main road. Some 8 km away from Castellina in Chianti. Smell of mould in the bathroom. The rooms are quite dark (one small window)
Review 24:Very kind staff and very service minded!
Review 25:The bed was very uncomfortable. Had back ake every morning which I am totally not used to. Too bad the Hotel is right next to the street.
Review 26:Lovely room. Amazing breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Pool is perfect for kids and adults.
Review 27:The wifi was unnecessarily fussy involving logon via social media, having to "like" the hotel and then entering passwords periodically. There isn't anyone else around for miles so it's OTT. Other than that, perfect.
Review 28:Location was remote but picturesque, staff were very friendly and the food and service was excellent. The dinner service is to die for - sunset across the terrace with first class food and wine. You couldn't do better.
Review 29:The check in staff was excellent and that is putting iti mildly!!! Outstanding in every way!! The restaurant food service and staff excellent !! They went out of their way to take care of us!! I should only wish all of our stays were half as good as this place!! And the room OMG fantastic...this is a must stay and not for just one day...you will love it!!!
Review 30:The rooms were so charming and spacious. After staying in Florence a few nights it was nice to spread out and explore the countryside. The property has all you need and close to our favorite Tuscan village, Castellina in Chianti. Great food and attentive staff. Loved it!
Review 31:Wonderful, quiet place. Comfortable room. Kind service. Beautiful vistas of Tuscany. Very nice swimming pool. Excellent food in restaurant. It is on a main paved road but that is not a complaint.
Review 32:small room. old fishion disign
Review 33:Beautiful place! It was an amazing experience to wake up in the morning and see the beautiful grapevines, and the view. The house is very authentic with flowers all around. Great breakfasted close to Beautiful pool. We had a great time there!
Review 34:Nothing really
Review 35:Breakfast excellent, 9/10, dinner OK 6/10, but the bifsteche Fiorentina was very good indeed. Good base for exploration of Tuscan hill towns.
Review 36:Got lost leaving Florence airport. Gps didn't work properly.Missed 1st night because we didn't want try to find location inthe dark. Rain!!!
Review 37:Food and wine were fantastic. Coundn't ask for a more helpful staff.
Review 38:Beautiful hotel in Toscany countryside. Worth of every Euro we spent there (and I'm talking about reasonable sum in here) so just go and see yourself!
Review 39:Wish we could be here for 1 more night! Word of caution: To get to the hotel using GPS please enter San Leonino & not Castellina in Chianti.
Review 40:Scenic, beautiful, well maintained resort, friendly staff, rooms are furnished with an air of romance(furnishings, toiletries & aromatic scents) and the food! We enjoyed both our dinner & breakfast there
Review 41:A little bit noisy. Nothing too bad, but it could be better
Review 42:The area is beautiful, the staff is really helpful and nice, the restaurant is very good and the hotel is a beautiful building.
Review 43:The atmosphere was incredible, due to the gorgeous location and the incredibly friendly staff. The facilities were spotless and the furniture was comfortable. The Wifi connection was strong as well.
Review 44:Completely charmed by location, atmosphere, authenticity, comfort, brilliant staff. And when you add local food and vine - absolute perfection for all senses...
Review 45:The place was a little difficult to find on day-1 but that was due to the GPS in the car that gave me bad signals and precarious directions. No trouble for subsequent days of stay.
Review 46:Beautiful place in quiet tranquil location. Spacious room with comfy large bed. Good breakfast and dinners with great house brand red wines. Planning revisit in two years. Staff most helpful. Even got a bottle of wine from the hotel mgmt as a departing present. Excellent!
Review 47:A few stink bugs and one spider in the room, but that is too be expected due to the location. I had not problems with this, but the wife was a bit uneasy about it.
Review 48:The hotel was very well presented, and the staff including the manager were superb. They helped us arrange a rental car in Sienna and recommended we upgraded our room for an additional $15.00 per night. The views and landscape were amazing. It is very peaceful. I highly recommend staying here.
Review 49:A hotel with the warmth and charm you normally find with a B and B. Lovely rooms, very friendly and courteous staff. Good sitting area in the courtyard/grassed area/pool, and can only imagine how the view in Spring would be overlooking the vineyards. Dinner at their restaurant was quite good, but we enjoyed the food more at a couple of restaurants in Castellina in Chianti. The common area and bar was great though- very nice place to watch the football in the evening on the big screen with dessert and a glass of wine!
Review 50:This lovely hotel, which felt more like a big Bed & Breakfast, was great! It's located in the heart of Tuscany, not too far from the highway. The staff and food (we had dinner there one night) were wonderful! It even has a pool and jacuzzi.. right next to the vineyards!! Even though I never took advantage of it.. I would have if we were able to spend more time there!
Review 51:Beautiful architecture, very pretty room (ours was a garden room facing to swimming pool), a fabolous landscape (surrounded by amazing vine yards - when under full moon it was beyond what I imagined-)... Every little detail made our stay very romantic and meditative. People are also very kind and professional. Oh, there is a village 2 km away from the hotel. There is a restaurant with great food just in a small plaza. The waiter who looks like Woody Allen was very helpful.
Review 52:Very satisfied with our stay, can't think of something that we didn't like
Review 53:Excellent food, very nice old house and pleasant personnel. Quiet place - if you need to relax, it's great. Yet easy to reach nearby villages and to taste some chianti
Review 54:Absolutely nothing worth mentioning.
Review 55:Could not have been a better experience. Country farmhouse style. Breathtaking location. Beautiful food. Totally relaxing experience. Staff couldn't have been more friendly, helpful or knowledgeable. Will certainly be back!
Review 56:Our second visit to this hotel and we will return next year.A fabulous place to relax and enjoy wonderful food on the terrace if it's warm. The sun was setting as we sat down for our dinner...a sight we will remember for many years to come. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Our room was large and extremely comfortable.Thank you all again.
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:I've stayed in Toscana 4 times and this is the best hotel I've stayed at. Stunning location, gorgeous rooms and brilliant food. All this plus helpful staff make is a must do
Review 59:Nothing!
Review 60:The staff could not have beenire helpful and welcoming. The receptionist spent hours tracking down items we had left in our last lodgings on our trip and sorting carriage for them. The position was idyllic, food exceptional, and overall short stay just lovely.
Review 61:Had to pay for pool towels and use of jacuzzi. Jacuzzi isn't hot by American standards, but that's how they do it Italy.
Review 62:The grounds, room and pool were wonderful - totally met and exceeded our expectations from the online photos. The hotel is a short drive from a small town, so we decided to have dinner at the hotel every night (4) - the food was the best we had in Italy and the wait-staff were perfect. I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. The reception staff were very helpful with directions, recommendations and reservations for nearby activities/sights.
Review 63:Leaving.
Review 64:The staff are fantastic, the best service we received on our entire trip in Italy. The dinner menu selections were good, and affordable compared to other restaurants. The breakfast buffet selection was fantastic. The property itself is very peaceful, enjoyed the pool, and it was a great location for us to see other towns.
Review 65:Close to a road and was woken by local barking dogs in the night so hadto close windows, however we have had this in may parts of rural Italyand would not criticise the hotel for this. Charging separately forbreakfast?? Not sure about this policy. May suit some. Overall verylittle to complain about.
Review 66:This is a very well run hotel in nice Tuscan countryside. Excellentaccommodation, food and pool. Nice big comfy lounge to take drinks, particularly before dinner. Excellent reliable wifi which was alsooperative by the pool. Close to Siena for a visit.
Review 67:No negatives
Review 68:. Location - middle of Tuscany on a hill surrounded by grapevines . Swimming pool with comfortable beach chairs, umbrella etc - lovely views over the countryside . Bedroom had a lovely view .Staff extremely helpful - spoke English well . lovely dinners in outside garden each night . easy access by road to many different places
Review 69:Breakfast not at par with the premises and pool area lacks a thought through concept taking into consideration that the view is splendid, it seems a shame that the pool is just a rectangle filled with water.
Review 70:Beautiful decor, ambience, view. Room very comfortable and garden well done.
Review 71:The only negative is that you do need a car (or visit as part of a cycling holiday!) The hotel is approximately 7 kms from Castellina, so if you wanted to dine out you needed to drive into town. But this is also the reason why Belvedere is so serene!
Review 72:We stayed for 5 nights with friends. It was a perfect base for us - we could explore the Tuscany region, sit on the terraces near the olive trees to relax, sunbathe by the pool, or find a spot just sit and soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful hotel. The breakfast was perfect each morning and the evening meals we had were delicious. The staff is amazing - from the minute we checked in at reception, to the waitstaff at meals and to the wonderful cleaning staff. We also did the free wine tasting of their own wine in Castellina in Chianti. We had room 16 which opened up onto the back lawn and had a place to sit outside the door (many of the other rooms opened off passageways). A perfect way to end our Italian holiday!
Review 73:To finish our stay there!
Review 74:Everything. Breakfeast open air, if you want. Beautiful view to the grapes plantation. The room was like I imaginated, with tipical old furniture. Very, very charming. The dinner was served in the garden with candlelights on the floor! Superb!
Review 75:The hotel was just as I had imagined a Tuscan farmhouse in the countryside to be. The setting was beautiful, the hotel clean and comfortable, the food delicious and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for a lovely few days. Would love to come back.
Review 76:- little bit expensive, above all the cuisine however it was very good
Review 77:- very friendly people, - local Tuscany, very nice place to be, - clean, comfortable and professional service, high quality of everything, - perfect wine, cuisine with Tuscany specialities, served like in heaven, - the atmosphere was beautiful, we have enjoyed our stay on 100 %, - wifi, pool, air-condition, LCD TV, mini bar, parking, local cosmetics, big comfortable double-bet, this all available in superior room
Review 78:Breakfast price not included and poor quality breakfast. Also badly organised at busy times with element of disinterest from staff. Also poor service in bar at lunchtime. Waited 15 minutes to be served and then waitress summoned by cleaning staff. A very lovely hotel in a beautiful location spoiled by feeling that guests were seen as turnover. Bathrooms needed upgrading. No help with luggage either.
Review 79:Beautiful position, great evening meal and very pleasant and helpful restaurant staff. Reception staff very helpful with health issue.
Review 80:The room behind reception with its own little verandah is perfect as you face the vineyard. On site parking. The restaurant is also very very good.
Review 81:Staff very well trained & attentive. customer service 5 star.
Review 82:The staff were all very friendly and personable.
Review 83:Menu could be more varied day to day. Bar staff lacking in knowledge of drinks.
