Reviews for A&O Wien Stadthalle

Review 1:Central heating stopped working at night (New Year's Eve freezing cold night) and there was only one thin blanket, so I got cold :(

Review 2:Nice staff, wifi working well, clean, good location, very close to metro

Review 3:We felt that a little table in the room would have been nice, but this was not a problem.

Review 4:The staff were very pleasant and forthcoming. The room was warm and comfortable. The beds are excellent.

Review 5:Three drunk guys did their check in at 4:00 a.m., they were screaming and people were sleeping in the bedroom. Besides that if you don't have your own sheets you have to pay and extra, including for the bath towel. It would be much better if they guve discount if you bring your own sheets than charging you to take one.

Review 6:It is near the train station, 10 minutes walking.

Review 7:No rack, board for clothes, only one chair for the double room. Defected window, with prohibition note to open.(no ventillation at all.) Bed with plastic cover causing perspiration. etc.

Review 8:Polite staff, offered early check in . Clean room, bathroom. Good travelling connections. Quality breakfast.

Review 9:the size of shower is small but you can definitely go there but I wouldn't say that everyone would fit there nicely :)

Review 10:the size of the bedroom, the internet in the room even being upto 2mb free, the toiletries :)

Review 11:The check-in process is very burocrat the neighborhood is bit recommend if you want to go out at night There wasn´t common room.

Review 12:To be a 300metters from the subway station;

Review 13:Noise from the street. Neighbourhood is slightly gloomy at night. Debit card payment would have counted as credit and it would have cost ridiculously lot extra. Extra cost for sheets.

Review 14:24h reception. Big enough lockers.

Review 15:Bad location. Far from the center, and the closest metro line does not usefull. The staff was not kind, and everything in this hostel cost extra money - even sheets for the bed. The rooms very crowdy.

Review 16:Very very very noise from traffic .just like sleep on the street . and bad sheet neeDS to pay 3.50Euro that I'm really not happy forit.

Review 17:Location is good Very Near Metro station and easy find. price is cheap Wifi is free

Review 18:On arrival the receptionists made a racial comment about us, assumingwe couldn't understand German. It took absolutely ages to checkin because there was one receptionist doing something whilst theothers watched. They charge you for literally everything; bedding (nomention of this beforehand), drinks containers (?!), faster wifi, using card to pay. I've stayed at 5 hostels over 2 weeks now andthis was the worst.

Review 19:It was clean, but the walls are dirty. Some of the stuff was nice and helpful, some didn't make any attempt to help. Location is close to underground which takes you to any corner of the city, but it would be more convenient to stay in down town No AC. We just were there during a heatwave. Busy and corporation like hotel/hostel. Room is tiny.

Review 20:It was ok

Review 21:A bit non-secure location, full of immigrants, would not recommend to ladies. Also it is combined with a hostel, so noise from the backpackers.

Review 22:Cheap for Wien, close to U-Bahn

Review 23:The rate at the beginning wasn't that bad, but you have to pay for the linen, and if you pay by card so at the end it sums up and fot that price I would have chosen a place closer to the center

Review 24:Bathrooms were pretty unclean, smelled like urine in the dorm. I'm a female solo traveller and on 2 nights room was filled with big groups of guys. None of the personal lights on the beds worked

Review 25:Most reasonable price for location. Wifi was good

Review 26:No air con and rooms were far too hot. Cleaning was no where near good enough. With a pair of jeans and a bra being left in our room a few days before our stay (people before us said they were already in the room when they got here too) and they were still there when we left. Needs the decor updating. Light in bathroom was broken and got replaced with a table top lamp. Not great. Just generally felt uncomfortable.

Review 27:Good bar facilities and social area. Close to a nice student bit of the city with nice restaurants. Good transport links. Nice staff.

Review 28:It's not a great area. And check-out is at 10am.

Review 29:The price for the first two nights was pretty good. It's just a block from a U stop. And it's nice having a bar right there in the reception area.

Review 30:The addition cost for the linen and the way the staff dealt with this issue. I wasn't informed of the extra cost for linen but had to pay for it. Okay that was good but at least the conversation didn't have to be that on-way, and 'ask it to booking dot com, not us'..

Review 31:Facility and facilities! Rooms and beds were well maintained and very clean. In general, things were modern and well equipped. I was quite happy about this hostel.

Review 32:The bed was very low to the ground, which was fine for us but might be inconvenient for taller persons.

Review 33:The hotel has a good location, close to a shopping center and with good transportation options to the city. The staff were friendly and the room was nice.

Review 34:I stayed in a 4-bed dorm and two of the beds were basically twin beds right next to each other, which was very very awkward for those sleeping in those beds - basically the same as sharing one large bed! I would not recommend this dormitory room to solo girls travelling. The area is also pretty seedy at night.

Review 35:clean, great bathroom, comfortable beds, friendly staff, laundry (expensive at 7€ but still).

Review 36:A bit strange how it is laid out - one bunk and two single beds pushed up against each other (like a queen bed basically). Creaky beds with rusty frames and thin mattresses and pillows.

Review 37:There is good free wifi. Stayed in a 4 bed dorm. Clean bathroom.

Review 38:location in an ugly quartier, cars noise because of main street location of the hostel, lugagge room low security

Review 39:order, space layout, kindness of personal, cleaness, next to metro

Review 40:Room service is rude , even though we put 'do not disturb ' sign on the door, staff do not bother reading it and jumping in the room. That happened every day and they pretend like it is really normal!

Review 41:They have free luggage storage, and when a problem occurs staff try to fix it. Also location is close to metro station, it takes 10 min to the city center.

Review 42:Nothing big but the aisle was quite noisy because of the school trip.

Review 43:Nice facility. I think it used to be used as hotel before, so I felt like exactly staying in hotel. It was so clean, warm and comfortable. Especially the bathroom was clean and easy to use with 3 people.

Review 44:Room very small especially bath room Housekeeping open door after knock without waiting room guest to response

Review 45:Good location Service good Staff patiently explain to my queries

Review 46:Nothing to complain.

Review 47:I usually stay in this hotel next to Vienna's Westbahnhof. It's a small and affordable hotel, with nice staff and comfortable rooms. I don't want to repeat my former recommendations, so to keep it short: I can really recommend this hotel if you want to stay in central vienna for an reasonable price with comfort. Attention: WiFi is free since JAN '15.

Review 48:Quiet environment despite location near a busy street, friendly staff, good room equipment for a hostel; overall very good price/quality ratio. Usage of cards instead of locks offers more comfort and safety (there are several locked doors on the way from the street to your room, but no need to search for the right key). Good location with all useful facilities incl. a shopping center nearby. Very close to the U-Bahn.

Review 49:the room for 4 people is a little small.

Review 50:the staff here are very kind the atmoshere here is very friendful it is more suitable for young people (under 35) i think

Review 51:POOR Cleanliness, they do it "depending on clean staff judgement" and even if we ask at the reception to clean our room after 3 days (in particular the floor) they didn't do it! Which is terrible, specially if you are paying for a "private Twin room" which are not than big. Staff at the reception should be more kind and speak english. Poor heating system.

Review 52:Close to metro station, you should use it for reach city center.

Review 53:We have stayed only one night. The window of the room could not been closed properly. We were too tired to bother so we did not inform them. In winter it is very problematic.

Review 54:The staff while our check-out was very helpful.

Review 55:The map at the reception desk is free but useless. One night with no warm water in the room and that night it snows outside.

Review 56:The reception desk. Free hot drinking water. Free wifi.

Review 57:Expect extra charges for everything. 13 euros parking lot, wifi is not free, pets are extra charged, you even have to leave a deposit for the beer bottles and other stuff like that. At night it gets really noisy both from the street traffic and from other guests.

Review 58:Close enough to the city center. We walked to reach all major visiting sites, took a tram only to visit the Schonbrunn palace. If you plan to be visiting and spending all you time in the city, it is a great choice because it's relatively cheap. A big plus for the really clean bathrooms.

Review 59:The room was lacking some secondary stuff like clothes hanger and a wardrobe. The wifi is pretty slow, and the room is extremely small. Not recommended if you're traveling with family or group of friends. If you're a couple of young people or a solo traveler who are fine with these then go ahead. Breakfast buffey is not so complete as well. You pay extra 7€/person. Since I got a room on the 4th floor, it sucks that the elevator only goes up till the 2nd floor, and I have go to take the 4 more stairs up. It's fine on a daily basis but it's exhausting when you have a suitcase or big bags.

Review 60:Most of the staff speak English, and that's a good thing since my partner doesn't speak German. They work pretty fast & gets stuff done. The bathroom & room is clean, and relative complete. You get a clean towel, hand soap, and a normal body wash in the shower. Location is near the center, only 10-15 min away. If you don't pay for the breakfast, you could easily buy anything you want outside since the hotel is located near a lot of small shops & a mall near the U-bahn station. Trams also available nearby.

Review 61:Staff over-worked and occasionally irritated when asked for help. Smoking seems a common thing which lower the credibility of the hotel non-smoking policy.

Review 62:A practical and friendly two-star hotel.

Review 63:Cheap and clean! Perfect to stay there for a couple of days if you want to explore the city of Wien. The receptionists speak a lot of languages which made talking and administration really easy.

Review 64:The room given to us had cigarette smoke lingering as we entered the room. Hallways were dirty and smelly and the distinction between te hotel and hostel part is "fluid". Whether you stay in a hotel or hostel in the same room depends if it is one or two persons using that room, according to one of the hotel staff.

Review 65:Position

Review 66:Excellent location, near the metro station and the commercial center. The staff was very kind they let us print our flight reservation on internet for free and gave us a map of Vienna. The room was well heated and the bathroom was clean, with soap and shampoo. The beds are comfortable. Very good value for the money.

Review 67:Chairs in the room were dangerous and unusable. Beds were too low. Lift out of service most of the time. Generally ignored by staff due as we didn't speak German.

Review 68:It would be really useful to provide also a key for the small wardrobe from the room, so that each traveler can keep his/her stuff safe while away from the room. Some of the persons from my room had a lock but I forgot to bring one. I think they could give it to you when you check in and bring it back when you check out.

Review 69:I came there on nov 15 at 9:20 morning time. By the Reception desk, the girl she was talking rude with me and has bad attitude. For my 61 years what I have , I not accept this !

Review 70:Everything except this !

Review 71:The girl who was working at the Reception , on the first day me arrived. Was on 15 nov, 2014 at 9:20 morning. She was rude with me, has attitude . I not accept that for my 61 years old what me I have.

Review 72:Everything !

Review 73:We stayed for 5 days and they cleaned our room only once. If we wanted to change towels we had to pay.

Review 74:The stuff was very informative and helpful. The location is good, next to a metro station. At night it's not a good area cause there's red lights a couple blocks away..

Review 75:no respect of silent hours in the bedroom. breakfast not included and expensive. at night the zone seems unsafe.

Review 76:good price. good transport conection.

Review 77:Light sleepers beware! I myself did not have a problem with the noise, but the doors to the rooms have a strange mechanism that releases the door to bang itself shut, which often happens in the middle of the night when guests are returning from a night out.

Review 78:The location of the hotel is excellent, public transportation is very close by and a walk to the city center takes thirty minutes through pleasant, quiet streets. The area is very lively and in my experience safe after dark. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 79:There are some parking places in the courtyard, but it is necessary to make reservation for the parking place much more in advance then the room. Overnight parking is a big problem in that area of Wien. Price of wi-fi to high - like everywhere else in Austria.

Review 80:Location, friendly staff, price. A&O Graz is much better, but we appreciate A&O standard - we like it.

Review 81:Very small rooms, barely enough space to open a suitcase (and we checked about 4 rooms). No air conditioner, so room can get quite hot.

Review 82:Location is very close to city center, staff was helpful. Bed was comfortable, good shower.

Review 83:Service refused when I asked for a dog water bowl. Noisy during the night (our room was facing the street and even though one would like to keep the window open at night it is really too loud).

Review 84:The room is exactly what you expect from a hostel. Clean space.

Review 85:at switzerland, London etc. I was getting brekfast in same price but here no brekfast was included. But anyways was nice

Review 86:i LIKE overall atmosphere clean, safe descent etc.

Review 87:They put me in a mixed room alone Sitges three more guys two of them Andre living there for 2 weeks already I felt quite in danger.

Review 88:The room facilities where quite new and clean

Review 89:The beds are so Umcomfrtable and you must pay even for the bed sheets. It's expensive for the quality that they offer

Review 90:The location and the good attention of Lars one of the staff in reception

Review 91:Nothing to complain about

Review 92:Good location, right to metro station U6-Stadthalle (one station from Westbahnhof and airport-bus). Not away from city center with tram. Clean, comfortable, nice beds. Great common area, nice staff. Good atmosphere for solo travellers.

Review 93:One receptionist is not enough for such a huge hostel. People usually come in groups, so the hostel is not the best options for solo travellers planning to socialize.

Review 94:Excellent breakfasts, relatively good location, 24-hour reception

Review 95:Keep in mind that the bed linen isn't included in the price, you'll have to pay 3 extra euros for it upon check-in (if you wish of cause)

Review 96:Great hostel, best price-value balance I guess. Rooms are really well equipped - stayed in a room for 4 and we had our own bathroom, that was really convenient, table with 2 chairs, bedside lamp, big mirror with the rack for clothes and even a tv :)

Review 97:They put me to the wrong room - I (a single female) had to stay two nights with 5 other guys in a male dorm room, given that they were all fully booked.

Review 98:Location is very good. Most of the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Review 99:The hotel is located not in the centre of the city, but is very convenient to get in/out by public transport.

Review 100:The heater in my room didn't work at night and my room was cold

Review 101:Well informed staff and quick to react

Review 102:fantastic staff

Review 103:Very nice and comfortable accommodation for reasonable price!

Review 104:wifi didn't work on the first day I came (Christmas day)

Review 105:Good for the price

Review 106:Not very clean but acceptable

Review 107:The location is close to the railway station. Wifi is very fast. Room is big enough.

Review 108:Good location, 30 minutes walk to the center.

Review 109:Everything is amazing

Review 110:Breakfast way too expensive for what it is.

Review 111:Bathrooms and toilets in every rooms.

Review 112:nothing

Review 113:everything

Review 114:room was a bit too small

Review 115:Clean, good location, fair price

Review 116:Nothing, we received very good value for the price.

Review 117:Good location, very clean, nice personal, price-value is perfect.

Review 118:Elevator doesn't work, noisy cold place.

Review 119:At least clean.

Review 120:Dont have phone in room, dont have more staff who clean room

Review 121:I really liked how clean was the room, the tv in the room and quite modern furniture.

Review 122:Dirty, linnen not included, not very friendly

Review 123:superb location near U-bahn & Hip Neubau district

Review 124:The sink clogged.

Review 125:staff is helpful

Review 129:Kitchen has no windows, it was very hot there.

Review 130:Hostel is very close to metro station and the building was very nice.

Review 131:The hostel doen't situate in the real city center but its on a walking distance

Review 132:room was quite clean and the bed as well.

Review 133:-Metro is 3 min. by walking -Clean rooms, baths and WC -Free WiFi didn't worked on my phone and they gave me fast WiFi for free. Kind.
