Review 1：The breakfast was very average. Spa closed on Mondays- take note!

Review 2：Friendly staff. Clean, spacious rooms. Great location. Nice, big and bright breakfast room.

Review 3：Hotel air conditioning had failed for all 3 nights there (apparently after a recent electrical storm). Max daily temp was in high 20s so not too bad at night. Quite noisy with windows open.

Review 5：aircondition was not working during our stay. The bathroom and the room was not live up for a 4 star hotel. Neither for a design hotel... The breakfast service wasn't smooth.

Review 7：Staff at the bar was insulting guests in Italian in front of other guests. Obviously they couldn't imagine that we understood them. The aircondition was out of order. While the elevator was in use water was in the elevator shaft.

Review 12：Our main gripe is that we booked it as a value deal and the way it was advertised was misleading - not sure if that was the fault of the hotel or Booking.com (and we are frequent users of Booking.com). The price paid was about right but it was held out as being at a huge discount and so was misleading and we thought we were getting something much more luxurious

Review 14：Internet didn't work in my room on the 4th floor. I asked to solve the problem about 4-5 times. Didn't happen. We had problem with the shower which was solved very slowly! Steaming also appeared to be a problem to the personnel of hotel. They suggested for ME to go on some other floor and ask the maid to give me the iron! Not everybody speaks proper English. overall I'm very disappointed with the level of service.

Review 16：The wifi doesn't really work in the rooms. To make a Skype or FaceTime call you must come down to reception. I've also expected a little more at breakfast for a boutique and design hotel.

Review 18：The room was rather old, the air-conditioning did not work, they fixed it but in a few hours it was broken again. We managed to use the wi-fi connection only at the lobby, on the second floor we failed to open any web page.

Review 19：The hotel is sutiated in the center of the city so you can easuly reach the old part of the city and the sea side. They have spa and let their gusts to visit it without additional charge. Breakfast was good and they offered a variety of diffenert food.

Review 26：Service could be better. Although staff are all friendly, you need to ask for everything e.g. to get cutlery or coffee for breakfast - we have never been approached by staff themselves. Rooms need some uplift, bathrooms are quite old and no space to hang up anything. Internet in room did not work properly - other guests had the same problem so we had to go to the lobby where it worked fine.

Review 28：Souless place, not welcoming or homely/comfy. Lots of empty spaces and boring bar area. Weedy old patio area. So called newly refurbished rooms are dark brown and dingey and dark. Breakfast uninspiring compared to the other 5 hotels on our tour. I won't stay here next time. I am a regular visitor to Rapallo.

(There is a note on theFacilities of Europa Hotel Design Spa 1877 website section, which states“Private parking is possible at a location nearby (reservation isneeded) and costs eur 10 per day“ but we found this informationincorrect).

Review 44：Great location in the heart of the downtown, easy to find no matter youare coming by a car or by train. The hotel is located just a few stepsaway to the castle on the Ligurian Sea coast at Rapallo. The nice spa inthe hotel was a recreative bonus after a day of exploring thesurroundings, but, please, be aware that there no more than 6 (or 8?)persons can be admitted at the time (that is good, however), so it isonly accessible with appointment. Room was quiet and spacious withcomfortable bed. Good breakfast. Safe (charged) parking place isavailable.

Review 55：The hotel advertises being a design hotel but in spite of the lobby it wasn't designed at all. The rooms have an old smell with outdated furniture. The bathrooms have been probably last refurbished in the last century. The breakfast is not worth to have at all (coffee is more colored water than coffee, the waters are very slow and unfriendly). In case you have to stay in this hotel because you have not found any better it is worth to go to a nice espresso bar instead. Please be also aware that the pool is only accessible with appointment! So no spontaneous visit possible. All in all we did not enjoy this hotel and can certainly not recommend it.

Review 57：the parking tax of 18 euro should be just canceled (free hotel parking). internet couldn't be used from the room, just from the reception area. I recommend to introduce the environment friendly program for laundry, and not to change towels and sheets when not needed.

Review 64：The location was ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and comfortable, with plenty of space for storing clothes and luggage. Good restaurant. Didn't have time to try out the spa facilities as I was too busy exploring the area.

Review 65：after calling the hotel and confirming which room from the pictures I wanted and still receiving an old stinky room, I would've expected that kind of a place to compensate us with something to make us feel a bit better for paying so much on the first night while staying in that room.. surprised me a bit that they didn't even suggest to remove the charges of the parking lot from our bill as a sign for good will.. These kind of places should always send their clients away satisfied and not leave a bitter flavor for errors of such kind.

Review 66：stayed there for 2 nights, first day we arrived we were given an old room and nothing like the pictures on booking.com. make sure when you book a room to request one of the renovated ones (it makes a different that you couldn't even describe) since the hotel was fully booked, they couldn't change our room only on the day after - which kinda ruined our stay, since it was the last hotel we stayed at in our roadtrip to Italy, and we thought we would save the best for last - but it didn't turn out this way after all. After receiving the renovated room our experience of this hotel started to change, the room was clean and well designed, breakfast was good, the spa of the hotel is amazing! Location wise - perfect, the main boulevard is just a minute walk, the ferry to santa margharita and portofino is 3 minutes walk, and all the restaurants are just around the hotel.

Review 67：Dinner buffet on plastic platea and cutlery in a 4* hotel?! The so called fitness room consists of 1 treadmill and 1 bike... To enter the spa you need to have reservation. You cannot just go when you feel like it. Dont choose a room facing the street as it is really loud!
