Reviews for Villa I Barronci
Review 1:Beautiful picturesque villa. Friendly and helpful staff with a great restaurant. Fantastic wine tasting. Would absolutely recommend and stay here again!
Review 2:Wifi did not work on the second floor and not even at breakfast (it worked only in the reception lobby). The breakfast included only salmon. Although that was a pleasant surprise for my wife, for me it was a disappointment.
Review 3:The room and bed were big. The hotel grounds were big and maintained.
Review 4:We stayed here for our honeymoon and were greeted with a beautiful bottle of local red wine and petals (so cute!). The room was beautiful and comfortable. We had hired a car so spent the days exploring all that amazing Tuscany had to offer by day,and drove the short distance into Florence by night. The lovely receptionists assisted us with insider tips for places to visit resulting in the most perfect stay. I cant wait to return!
Review 5:We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment in the city centre. It was very well furnished and comfortable. Great value for money. Staff were also very helpful.
Review 6:Beautiful place to stay however as it was rainy when we were there we were unable to make full use of the beautiful outdoor dining area and pool area. Wifi access is unavailable except for in main reception area.
Review 7:The most beautiful view of Tuscany and a lovely restaurant attached.
Review 8:Restaurant was nice but expensive, Air conditioning in the room wasnt great. Pool not heated and room service not to same standards as restaurant
Review 9:Amazing views and lovely pool area, staff very very friendly and the food in the restaurant was lovely. Excellent breakfast and room was well furnished.
Review 10:Everything was lovely-we were focused on touring the city of Florence, so the "commute" was a bit inconvenient. Otherwise our stay was wonderful!
Review 11:The apartment was big but with nowhere to relax. As the weather was not great there was nowhere to go and relax at the hotel either so we ended up paying for facilities we didn't (or couldn't) used. The apartment is a pleasant town but there is no parking at apartment and you have to take your chance on the roads close by and pay for it. Do bear in mind that you have to carry your luggage to and from and up a flight of stairs. There was no kettle or suitable pan for boiling water just a nesspresso machine and pods were not provide! Also beds were incredibly firm
Review 12:Nice hotel and modern apartment with partially equipped kitchen.
Review 13:Nothing we didnt like but the pool area might be a bit small during high season. Mid september it was good though, but the pool was very cold. Restaurant was a bit expensive but it was possible to buy a bottle of wine and save half for next night.
Review 14:We loved our three day stay at Villa I Barronci. The outdoor restaurant with amazing view over the mountains, the indoor restaurant with fantastic atmosphere and our fabulous room. A very relaxing spot well suited for couples looking for a couples on a romantic weekend.
Review 15:Dinners were good but not as good as on a previous visit.
Review 16:Beautiful location within distance to Florence and many hill towns. Staff are wonderful and willing to please.
Review 17:We were very surprised when we were taken to our room - which turned out to be an apartment off the property in the middle of San Casciano. There was no indication of being totally off of the premises, other than the confirmation email that said we would be staying "in the heart of San Casciano." They provided us with a free car transportation to and from, but it was a hassle and definitely not what we expected.
Review 18:The property was lovely with beautiful views of Tuscany.
Review 19:The location just outside Firenze was very convenient whilst the design / style of the room furnishings was exquisite. The quality of the food and both the staff and their service was exceptional.
Review 20:Lots of Mosquito's around, and no attempt by the hotel to help. Stayed in a property close by a few years ago and they had plug in repellents in every room and we had little problem. Would suggest the hotel apply a similar policy as all my family had several bits which made sleeping at night an uncomfortable experience.
Review 21:Lovely Property, good location, well Maintained. Staff were generally good and service was in the main excellent.
Review 22:Located away from everything, but that's what makes it a quiet and relaxing place. Fortunately, their driver was really nice man, who drove us where we needed (even at silly hours) for a reasonable price. We were not fond of their bathroom, because although it was super clean, pretty and spacious, there was no bath and the shower was unpractical. Plus, the floor in the bathroom was very slippery when wet. Despite those details, we would still recommend that hotel because we had a very nice time and great general impression.
Review 23:Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet, relaxing and extremely well kept room/hotel and garden/pool area. Impressed with how clean it was. Very spacious room.
Review 24:the service, the waiter had an attitude and was not very helpful nor very competent. When my wife asked for a coffee a certain way he said that this was the only way to do it. so unprofessional
Review 25:Location
Review 26:Lots of Mosquitos, including in the middle of the day at the pool. On the last day, either the drains were cleaned or a septic tank was emptied. There were three waves of incredibly pungent gas released, each more revolting than the last. Initial nervous glances at other guest round the pool to try to sluth who had let one go were quickly replaced by dry heaving, panic sweats and cries of "think of the children". A rather fetid blend of digested fillet steak and some very tasty Chianti from weeks of guests I imagine...
Review 27:Staff quick to act when requested to move room due to noise. Fillet steak steak with truffle was very good.
Review 28:Wifi was a bit hit and miss.
Review 29:Location, views, peace and relaxation. All staff very friendly and the quality and cleanliness of the property superb. Nothing too fault at all. Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone.
Review 30:Breakfast was good, but it was exactly the same each morning so we would have got bored if we stayed longer. The wifi is awful not working properly most of the times.
Review 31:Beautiful location with perfect view from the pool and the open air restaurant. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. Food was tasty.
Review 32:The WiFi was difficult to get if you weren't near reception
Review 33:The staff and service was incredible. We did the wine tasting and thoroughly enjoyed it
Review 34:Wifi was terrible. Couldnt connect anywhere in the villa, even in the lobby.
Review 35:Staff are very friendly. Room was good (a bit old). Nice villa with an amazing view. Restaurant food was good. Breakfast was ok.
Review 36:The wi-fi was intermittent and the mini fridge drinks were a bit pricey
Review 37:Fantastic hotel, well maintained, immaculate, great swimming pool and beautiful setting
Review 38:- Not worth its price at all (350 EUR/night).- noise from neighbouring bedroom separated only by a door from our 350 EUR/night "suite" (screaming children, bathroom noises, guests arriving in the middle of the night knocking on the door and trying to open it), keeping us awake several nights. Hotel manager denying the problem by saying nobody had ever complained about this. Friends of ours had the same problem in another room, noise was coming from upper neighbours. - swimming pool liner has a brown border (hasn't been cleaned for ages). According to hotel manager this was due to storm of the week before and usage of sunscreen. Next day, maintenance dept were trying to clean it, however without success. - fridge in hotel room wasn't functioning. Problem was denied by hotel manager and not solved - service in restaurant is way too slow (even with only one other table occupied) so after one try, we went having lunch and dinner elsewhere - We got an 8% (only) discount after complaining about the above but even with that discount, the hotel is totally overpriced.
Review 39:Nice view from the hotel location and its outdoor restaurant. It is apity that breakfast isn't being served there but inside instead
Review 40:The accommodation and the swimming pool were one big disappointment. The rooms are not at all like the pictures show on internet! The bathroom we had was very small and not up to the standard of a 4 star hotel. The shower is extremely narrow -standard of social housing- and no shelve to put your shower gel on. The swimming pool is not at all like it shows in the pictures on internet. It is much smaller than the pictures and there is an old liner in the pool (so no tiles or stone) that has a wide brown dirty border at the water surface. The water is not clear or clean at all. Bad smell round the pool. We stayed there with our best friends and when we arrived, after seeing all this, all we wanted was to leave, it felt like a tourist trap. If it would have been 2 or 3 stars and about 100 euro per night, we could maybe have accepted these defects, but not for a so called '4 stars luxury resort' at 250 euro per room per night. Wifi was not working in our room, only when sitting on the toilet. Airconditioning was not working properly either. We explained our complaints at the check out and they gave us 10% discount, so 225 euro per room per night is still way too much for the quality they offer. After some days my brother and his friends stayed at the hotel and they all had the same comments as we had... Really a pity of the money and the bad experience...
Review 41:The rooms are big. The hotel is clean. The staff is friendly.
Review 42:aircondition blowing a lot of cool air directly on the bed...to much even in lowest setting. The waiters took their time in the restaurant
Review 43:the room, breakfast, pool,, location, friendly staff etc.
Review 44:Mattresses need renewal, wifi not fantastic. Don't use the hotel transport if you don't really need to, they charge double or triple the real price.
Review 45:Lvoely location, great wines, good restaurant
Review 46:The Wifi dipped in and out which was a little frustrating
Review 47:The stunning views, the hotel setting, the staff, Chef Alex and the restaurant there is very little not to like about this lovely hotel.
Review 48:The first room they gave to us was not on the hotel grounds but in the village 5 km away. There was nothing nice to say about this apartment.
Review 49:Beautiful location.
Review 50:Wi-Fi is total bad, actually not operating! Restaurant was disappointing! Restaurant staff not keep smiling Menu never changed Expensive dinnerand drinks at the bar daily Very diferent quality room Breakfast boringCommercial hotel
Review 51:Location, near to Firenze, pool
Review 52:Unfortunately we didn't like our dinner, and it was a bit overpriced.
Review 53:Lovely hotel with great views in a tranquil setting. Lunch was very tasty and highly recommended.
Review 54:Small elevator and then we had to lug our bags down and up some stairs to get to our room.
Review 55:Lovely big room, good staff, great views from the dining area over the valley
Review 56:Leaving
Review 57:Fantastic location, beautiful property, excellent food, and friendly staff. The view from the property is like a postcard. The staff was very helpful in assisting us with bookings, sight seeing and transportation. The restaurant is fantastic and the service was great. Francesco was excellent and the Chef was very fun to talk to!
Review 58:Would have liked to stay not in the village 7 miles away, but at the main property. Without a car, this walk is simply too far to enjoy the amenities of the property. The village is very nice though, so we spent most of our time there. 10€ Extra for Breakfast.
Review 59:Beautiful location, great amenities. Breakfast is also very good. The village apartment was nice, as we were two young married couples staying for 2 nights.
Review 60:There are no other facilties apart from the pool. The spa consists of a sauna (which one may use at a price) and spa treatments. The property lacks some activities which guests spending time at the villa may do while there, eg games area, a bar with some entertainment, etc.
Review 61:The pool area is amazing, a great place to relax. The rooms are big and comfortable. The staff is very welcoming, nice and accommodating.
Review 62:Our master bed was a bit uncomfortable--that would be my only criticism.
Review 63:We loved the quiet environment, the view from the pool and restaurant was spectacular. The food and service were both fantastic. It is a great home base from which to see many surrounding towns. Would definitely return!!
Review 64:The scenery looking out over the pool is spectacular. The reception are extremely helpful & the rooms are lovely. Dinner was superb & the chef often comes out to chat with the guests. A wonderful gem in the Tuscan countryside!
Review 65:The staff at the hotel are amazing, very friendly, they had time to talk and offer advice on how to get to locations, the hotel bathroom was big very clean, the hotel was very clean throughout. Loved our stay thanks
Review 66:The restaurant was good, but our dinner was a little disappointing. May have just been a bad night considering the reviews are quite good all round and the breakfast and lunch was really delicious.
Review 67:The view was beautiful and the outdoor eating area is perfect for a late afternoon aperitif. The location was good, we did a day trip to Florence - only a short 20-30 minute drive.
Review 68:The water temperature of the pool! No problem really. Once you were in it was heaven!
Review 69:Everything! It was one of the most relaxing short stay holidays my wife and I have experienced.
Review 70:room needed more comfort like thicker drapes and headboard not of wrought iron. But these were very minor compared to overall excellent experience
Review 71:Easy to get to Florence, lovely location
Review 72:Nothing to dislike!
Review 73:Very comfortable hotel in a lovely location with beautiful views. Staff, accommodation and food - all fantastic - can definitely recommend this hotel!
Review 74:The room was extremely comfortable for my wife and myself, and was quite large. Cleanliness was superb, and the grounds beautiful and well taken care of. The location was fantastic being central for viewing all of Tuscany. The food in the restaurant was quite good; however, the menu stays static from night to night, and is somewhat limited. All in all great value for the money and highly recommend it for a comfortable stay.
Review 75:Great location and view. Perfect base for travelling around Tuscany and visiting the sites like Pisa and Florence! Staff were helpful and pool was fantastic although a little chilly!!
Review 76:We booked a room in the secondary building, what is NOT indicated on booking.com though, is that this is not on the same location. They expected us to drive 15 minutes every day if we wanted to go to the swimming pool or breakfast. In the end we had to pay extra (+60 EUR) to stay in the location of the villa itself I would suggest searching a bit more for other places. We did a trip of Tuscany, in which we stayed in this type of location, and there are some very nice other locations, that are far superior.
Review 77:The swimming pool, sauna and possibility to rent a ferrari are very nice. The view is breathtaking
Review 78:No Draws in the room, had to live out of the suitcase. Restaurant was disappointing. food was over cooked and no fish just meat. menu never changed, also never had a dish of the day
Review 79:Rooms were as per the pictures and comfortable
Review 80:Only drawback is that you need a car for everything, this can be a problem if you are keen to try the local wines!
Review 81:Fantastic little villa, good restaurant, very friendly staff, great for exploring tuscany!
Review 82:Some persons from staff at reception doesn't speak English at all. Hotel is almost inaccessible without a car.
Review 83:Beautiful territory around, quite romantic place.
Review 84:wifi was weak almost everywhere.
Review 85:We loved the charming building and the pool. Staff was friendly. Breakfast good, especially the salmon. Free bikes to discover the beautiful surrounding hills and valleys.
Review 86:1.at breakfeast getting an egg "as you wish (sunny side up, soft, boiled, etc.)" is an "extra" only one kind of "scrambled" - not usual at this rank of locations and prices. 2. furniture is awaiting replacement for some time already. 3. Wi-Fi actually not operating and if it does only at very low band-width/speed 4. the restaurant not suitable for kids/youngsters: you cannot get a pizza, a hamburger, a schnitzel or even a normal pasta.
Review 87:1. the staff was excellent, friendly and always helpful 2. the location is fantastic in the heart of Toscana with beautiful views 3. the ambiance is very pleasant
Review 88:The wifi connection was unreliable at times and unexpectedly slow. There were good moments, but not consistently.
Review 89:The setting is wonderful, staff are warm and exceptionally helpful.
Review 90:From the moment we arrived we loved Villa I Barronci. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are so very welcoming and the room was luxurious. Definitely the best accommodation we stayed in whilst in Italy. We dined in the restaurant every night as we thoroughly enjoyed not only the food and wine but the interaction with the restaurant staff - they were amazing, extremely knowledgeable and so very welcoming - thank you.
Review 91:Extra bed very poor quality Toilet right next to the shower Shower head high above Clogged shower drain
Review 92:Breakfast King size bed Location/View Staff was kind (except one) Big rooms Kitchen area Interesting floor designs
Review 93:Chef Alex created a special dinner for my husband and I that is definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. We really enjoyed the grounds and the country setting with the beautiful views of vineyards and olive groves.
Review 94:The room has a stove. But there are no utensils. Why this stove? Nothing at all. Electric Kettle does not fit the outlet near the plate and you have to put it on the floor near the door. This luxury hotel - and a kettle on the floor ...... Also heating rumbles fan . If you turn off the fan - heating is also turned off.
Review 95:Very nice view from the window. Perfect cleanliness in the room. Very good breakfast, lots of fruit. The room has the possibility to make tea. Очень красивый вид из окна. Идеальная чистота в номере. Очень хороший завтрак, много фруктов. В номере есть возможность сделать чай.
Review 96:The address on Booking.com could have been more precise, although the reception was very helpful in directing me over the phone.
Review 97:this place is worth each and every penny. Staff, facilities and the room is excellent, although we did not use swimming pool or sauna because we arrived late in the evening and just stayed one night. You can see clearly that this resort is maintained by heart. Nice view, typically Tuscany hospitality.
Review 98:Liked everything!
Review 99:Excellent communication with the hotel before arrival and friendly greeting on arrival. Our room was light and spacious with a good size bathroom and huge shower. Breakfast was great and served well. We ate in the restaurant 3 times in the evening and the food and wine were good quality, again with professional waiters. We didn't use the pool as the weather was starting to cool down but it looked very tempting. The views from the property were over beautiful Tuscan hills. The location of the hotel was handy to the main motorway and we were able to drive to several towns such as Siena & San Gimignano in an hour. You do need a car really for this hotel although there is a taxi van shuttle which you can book to and from Florence and other places. It was a great place to stay with excellent staff. I would really recommend it for a peaceful stay.
Review 100:The room is not as portrayed in pictures. The shower was a bit old. We could hear everything from the floor above. In addition, there were no shutters on our windows (which there were on other rooms).
Review 101:We stayed there for 3 nights. The location is very nice as was the breakfast. We ordered the Tuscan style double room, and were a bit disappointed as the room does not look like the pictures displayed so we even asked if they had confused our booking with the economy room. All in all it is a nice place, but we would not refer to it as "luxury".
Review 102:Massage setup at wellness centre was OK but not great. AC switches on when you are not in the room so the room was freezing on our return. But to be fair it was the time of the year when the outside temperature is switching from cold to hot.
Review 103:Location was very peaceful and beautiful. Staff were extremely polite, responsive and helpful. Restaurant was really good.
Review 104:the shower head is not bolt to the wall , so it is not so comfortoble to take a shower. The WiFi is very poor , not working well at the rooms and very slowly on the lobby.
Review 105:Very relaxing area , big rooms , Satff are very helpfull and provide good guide lines for touring Chianty area !
Review 106:That we had to leave!! Nothing it was all incredible !!
Review 107:We so enjoyed staying here! It was our favorite place! Loved the staff- Daniel and Marco took such great care of us! The entire staff was friendly and made you feel at home.
Review 108:Check the actuality of the information in the reception about places to go and to see (sometimes we were mislead but on the whole a very, very small minus!).
Review 109:Wonderful place! Tranquility in a very well kept hotel with a warmth in all details. We stayed for a week and could have stayed longer.
Review 110:Nothing!
Review 111:The warm, friendly and accommodating service! Beautiful villa, restaurant to die for. The buffet breakfast spread was more than we could ask for and the truffle pasta on the menu was the best I've ever had!
Review 112:There wasn't a thing that we were not pleased with
Review 113:This is a fantastic place from which to explore Tuscany. The staff were amazing, adding to our experience with their attentiveness and personal touch. The villa is itself is lovely and the food and wine were outstanding. Best of all was the view and the Tuscan sunsets! We would definitely come again - I hope we get the opportunity!
Review 114:We spent a wonderful week at Villa I Barronci. It was a fabulous base from which to visit Florence and the surrounding Tuscan hill towns and Chianti region. The staff was very helpful and the food was great for breakfast and dinner. We hope to return some day!
Review 115:No armchair in the room.
Review 116:The staff is excellent and especially restaurant staff didn't spare any effort to make us happy and feeling welcome. The food is excellent! The view from the terrace and garden-wonderful. Room was big enough and bathroom great. Location is stunning, apart from the breathtaking views the absolute peace and serenity was a tonic and it's ideally placed to easily get to the main tourist towns. Pool is big enough and with a bubble area.
Review 117:We loved everything about it
Review 118:We love everything from the hospitality they help at the front desk who is a girl from California that moved here and got married and has two kids to all the other staff and help and advice- it is one of the best days we've had in Italy it's gorgeous luxurious relaxing romantic we upgraded to a little bit bigger room so we had more space are only regret is we wish we could've stayed longer than three days
Review 119:The Villa is more beautiful than the photos. The views, the grounds, room and staff was just great! The staff were always happy to help and make arrangements. The nicest place we stayed on our entire trip to Italy which was 3 weeks. Thankyou so much!
Review 120:A waiter half my age telling me I'm a "good boy" for having read the menu in advance. The wait staff all wear black and there's something about young Italian men in all black that seems to go the their heads and is disturbing. I was expecting Castor oil from a couple of them. So I ate elsewhere.
Review 121:The quiet. Beautiful view of Tuscan hillside. The friendly reception desk and the Italian people of Tuscany in general.
Review 122:Though very spacious and clean- the room was a bit poor in furniture. For instance, no armchair. Bellow the room was the laundry, which we could hear day and night. (Not very loud but unnecessary for a guest).
Review 123:The staff everywhere was excellent! The staff in the restaurant didn't spare any effort to make us happy, especially Marco. Very friendly and calm atmosphere. The food excellent! The view from the terrace and garden-wonderful.
Review 124:No wifi coverage in my room. Only worked for me at the lobby and in the breakfast area
Review 125:Location is great. Super nice employees Free bikes and nice surroundings for bike or walks. The pool area is fantastic with a perfect view of vineyards
Review 126:The thermostat in the room needs to be checked, each time the aircon kicks in, there is a loud noise disrupting sleep. It would be nice to have a proper bedside table instead of a tiny ledge, which I believe is due to the lack of space on that side of the bed that is next to the door. There is a table on the other side of the bed.
Review 127:The staff at villa Barronci was very welcoming and helpful. The view from the swimming pool is simply beautiful, and I think from some rooms too, esp those on the higher floor. The breakfast spread is excellent and high quality with smoked salmon, hams, cheeses, fruits, breads, cakes and pastries. We had an enjoyable dinner in the restaurant with an interesting menu. We also liked the "waterfall" shower!!
Review 128:No chilled fruit juices at breakfast, always at ambient temperature. Scrambled egg was on menu for breakfast but never available pre 8-8.30am even though service started at 7.30am
Review 129:Restaurant meals excellent, with very good service. Having maps and guides to the area at reception meant travelling to nearby cities and attractions very easy.
Review 130:We did have a small problem in finding the hotel even with a GPS. But it may have been our error. But once we got to our destination we were very pleased with our experience.
Review 131:The grounds, rooms, bathrooms were all very spacious and clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast at the hotel. We felt that the food was excellent.
Review 132:The quality of internet connection was poor in our room.
Review 133:The hotel is amazing in a calm area with a beautiful view of the wine yards and olive trees. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is really good (try the cafe latte). We stayed there for one week and it was very relaxing and pleasant.
Review 134:There's no WIFI (it didn't work in our room). Don't choose an economy room if you want a relaxing holiday, privacy is not ensured due to the fact that some room's doors and windows opens to the common places and whole enterieur can be seen by everyone. (this needs to be checked with the hotel itself, can not be seen on booking com)
Review 135:The view from the pool was amazing. The restaurant was excellent with funny and professional staff.
Review 136:Absolutely no downsides
Review 137:The staff were so attentive and even remembered my food allergies, plus friendly and took the trouble to get to know us by name which makes that little bit of difference. Location is stunning, apart from the breathtaking views the absolute peace and serenity was a tonic and it's ideally placed to easily get to the main tourist towns. The room was beautiful, modern, clean, maybe a little small. The reception staff were so helpful even posting my wallet to me urgently when I left it behind in the safe, I had it back within 24 hours! We just love this place and we will definately be returning. Thank you very much team.
The Fine Print
The pool is open from 9 am until 7:30 pm, from April to October. The restaurant is open all year.Due to an interrupted road, the suggested address to locate the villa on your GPS is Via Empolese. Once there you can insert Via Sorripa and get the right directions. Please note that there are no taxis nor public transports linking San Casciano with the hotel. Use of the car is recommended. Please note that only some rooms can accommodate extra beds. Please check in the room description.
