Reviews for Monjusou

Review 1:We went in low season and there are only a few family lives there but I don't know why at least two families from Hong Kong had been assigned to live at the room the most far away. We need to take a long walk whenever we need to travel to hot spring or entrance. I am not sure if it's a good thought from hotel (to let us stay in a quiet part of hotel) or kind of discrimination. I strongly believe most of the other rooms are empty. We didn't take dinner at hotel, however most shops closed at 5pm (in jan). Only two restaurants are open (even we drive around)

Review 2:The design, decoration and hot spring. Location is good. Walking distance from train station and major scenery spot. You don't need to drive. The Japanese garden and hot spring just make you relax.

Review 3:The hotel rooms where we stayed were either engulfed in cigarette smell or had a mouldy smell even though they were non-smoking rooms. Wished that the futons and pillows were a bit thicker.

Review 4:All the hotel staff were very helpful. Sales manager Mr Tadashi Konishi was most helpful and professional.

Review 5:Nothing, it was all good.

Review 6:Everything was a delight, an oasis of cool and calm contrasting with the very hot summer weather. Brilliant location and very helpful staff make us want to return. asap.

Review 7:If anything, it would be that wifi is only available in the common areas which was on the opposite side of the hotel to our room - didn't mind, but some people may.

Review 8:Amazing staff go out of their way to assist in any way they can, gardens were beautiful, our room had a massive window view of the natural bridge where we could watch the boats and the room was large and comfortable. The welcome tea was an added bonus as to the traditional Japanese breakfast included in the room price

Review 9:The whole experience was very peaceful, relaxing and unexpected in a positive way. We embraced the introduction to some lovely Japanese rituals and enjoyed amazing cuisine.

Review 10:Food'd be more delicious if less salty. With same cost of food, could be less portion but higher grade/quality to keep good appetite. Rm 251 roof corner leaked water during a typhoon-like heavy rainstorm . We're moved to Rm 253 , then found a table lamp and the room light not function. A call to front desk, a workman came and changed bulbs in less then 3 minutes , problems fixed. TV relatively small. House Keeping may check electricity appliances or room condition more frequently.

Review 11:If one wants to be relax and enjoy traditional Japanese room with view , meals and hot spring ,but on wheelchair and does't speak Japanese, this hotel will be an excellent choice. Many thanks for the prompt response of Front desk staff Mr Hayashida (林田 法久).He replied email within 3 hours from our booking.com reservation'd made. His arrangements are beyond expectation and clear all our worries to explore a new destination - Amanohashidate天橋立.We really in good hands all the time during the 4-night- stay. All levels of the hotel staff we met are very warm , happy and gentle, very friendly and very eager to serve guests, especially wheelchair users/senior citizens. It's my wife's birthday trip in early April 2014. Hotel gave us a surprise - a beautiful birthday cake after dinner- with candles lit, songs sang in darkness of "black out".Staff took photos, printed them out and sent to room within 20 minutes. Our 2/F rooms ,Rm 251 was bright and quiet, facing the jade-color-cannel along with it's stone path, lines of pine trees on the sand bridge, with different kind of birds singing . A plus in Rm 253 with a cheery blossom tree of the hotel private garden .Very relaxing to read , enjoy tea or take a nap.The in-room-bath (not hot spring) including a tiny bathtub and shower area , 1 Western toilet, 1 Japanese toilet (!) and the wash basin area all independent- very good design if a group of 4 or a family stay in 1 room. Hair dryer and full set of lotion, tonic and bath room amenities.Rooms are bright and spacious (at least 12 tatami excluding bath/WC and entrance ) with big closet. 2 layers of window shade: Japanese paper and wooden board which guarantee darkness to all-you-can-sleep. Coffee and 3 choices of real tea leaf bags. Daily changed Japanese tea snacks .Delicious meals served in room 're different everyday.

Review 12:Japanese style twin rooms are clean and very traditional, facilities are a little older but well maintained. Onsen area is nice, indoor and outdoor pools. Staff are very helpful and go out of the way to assist. Breakfast is fantastic. Dinners are great if you enjoy dishes of crab prepared the traditional Japanese way (I understand Amanohashidate is famous for their crab), however fairly expensive and not necessarily worth the $85AUD per person. Thoroughly recommend Amanohashidate and a visit to nearby Ine. Nice to see smaller Japanese towns. Ryokan is very close to the station and provided shuttle for pickup and drop of from the station.

Review 13:The Onsen(hot spring) pool is relatively too small.

Review 14:Great location with short walking distance to train station and all interesting points. Front desk staff can speak fair English with traditional Japanese hospitality. Seasonal matsui-ba crab dinner is good at taste and value.

Review 15:The staff was so friendly and helpful. The hotel was very charming and the breakfast (japanese style) was made just for you (not buffet style) and they had no problem making it vegetarian for us. A very good place to relax and enjoy yourself.

Review 16:Great location, luxury facilities, flexible staff and a fantastic room.
