Reviews for Relais Poggio Borgoni
Review 1:Lovely place. You can talk to the staff for any info you need. Bit isolated and you need a car to move around. It suited us fine as we were looking for peace and tranquil.
Review 2:Location was a bit weird, you have to do a tricky walking across a freeway and through the train station to get to the downtown area. Of course it wasn't super far, and the owner explained carefully to us how to walk so not a huge deal all things considered. Breakfast was basic. x
Review 3:Good value for money. We had a very large room, comfortable bed. Staff were nice, spoke excellent English, helped park the car.
Review 4:None
Review 5:We had a magical time staying here for three nights. As you see in the photos, the setting was beautiful and peaceful. The staff is personal and helpful. Their own wine and food are also excellent. Thanks to their honest business.
Review 6:Great location to visit Northern Tuscany. Very nice breakfast and the dinners, we enjoyed two, in the restaurant were so good. I didn't anticipate that the food would be so good and it was terrific. The warm raspberry with chantilly cream and pastry was out of this world. The service was delightful.... We enjoyed the pool after a great day sightseeing and watched the sunset from the little barrel tables set up on the patios why we enjoyed a glass of wine. Very relaxing way to end our days. Loved the feel of the property.
Review 7:Beautiful facility with nice clean rooms, beautiful views, great restaurant, great staff, and in a perfect location to visit all of northern Tuscany. I would stay there again if I were to go back.
Review 8:Beautiful, convenient location and makers of wonderful house wines (plural) from their own grapes. Excellent olive oil too, tho 2014 was a bad year--they predict 2015 will be better, whew. Well situated for day trips to Florence (of course),Siena and Arezzo (latter two home to astonishing fresco cycles). Very satisfying in-house restaurant, with an emphasis on the famous Florentine beef. Want to go back, what more could you ask?!?
Review 9:Only downside are the mosquitos and various insects. Although they treat the grounds against them, insects are a risk when surrounded by nature. Be equipped with Autan :)
Review 10:The propertie's location is excellent and you can enjoy a true Tuscan experience. The staff was very professional, friendly and made you feel truly welcome. Both breakfast and restaurant food are very good and true to the local cuisine.
Review 11:The mosquito bites that are inevitable in Tuscany.
Review 12:The way the staff looked after us during our stay - especially Francesco was brilliant. Highly recommended to stay here for a touch of class in Italy.
Review 13:The location with magnificent views of the Tuscan Hills. It is a quiet hotel where you can relax, the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. Internet worked ok and you have a parking space for free.
Review 14:Very friendly and welcoming people, who looked after us really well. Pool, Tuscan restaurant and other facilities were excellent. Easy to get into Florence, down to Siena or into Chianti wines.
Review 15:My daughter and I had a great stay. The hotel is really well located for discovering Tuscany. After a day of exploring it is was lovely to come back to sit by the pool and enjoy the beautiful view. We would also recommend the restaurant for dinner.
Review 16:It was a little hard to find, but definitely worth it.
Review 17:We loved everything about this hotel, the rooms were nice, roomy and clean. The pool was wonderful, we enjoyed ending our afternoons there very much. The dinners were incredible and so nice not to have to drive after eating.
Review 18:Wish we would have gotten a better deal... 160e per night was not a bargain...
Review 19:Welcoming Staff, great food, good location, wonderful pool- we had an amazing short stay at this charming B&B
Review 20:There was nothing I didn't like there, except the sharp right turn into their drive way. ... Look out for the sign on the road a little ahead of your turn as this alerts you in time.
Review 21:I loved the people who were running the Relais as they were very helpful and kind. The red wine they sell for €14 a bottle is exceptionally good and the chef in the restaurant onsite is amazing. I have not ever had such a yummu dessert.
Review 22:Food was excellent. But we went for the fish dinner on a Thursday. We waited 1 1/2 hours before even bread was served. I understand everything is made fresh on site but that is not acceptable. We did not eat dinner there again. Location was beautiful but would not be possible without a car.
Review 23:Beautiful location. Fortunately we had great weather. The office staff were very helpful and eager to assist. Great English.
Review 24:Nothing.
Review 25:We stayed for 5 nights and used it as our base as we toured the Chianti area by car. Our room was large with exposed beams and a view of the valley. The property was on an olive grove and vineyard. We had wonderful breakfasts on the restuarant terrace and ate in their restaurant 2 nights. We arrived late afternoon after a full day of travel. The restaurant was closed but the staff put together a cheese and meat tray for us with wine which made a very nice welcome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back.
Review 28:Price for restaurant a bit expensive but ok
Review 29:All! Friendly staff, room big very clean and comfortable bed, classic furniture very nice, splendid views and delicious breakfast!
Review 30:Nothing to dislike.
Review 31:Wonderful staff, especially Katia who gave excellent recommendations throughout our stay. Very good breakfast. Great coffee/cappuccino. We had two very good dinners at hotel restaurant.
Review 32:When we arrived for breakfast at 9am there was no more bread and with only 2 other rooms occupied we found this strange.
Review 33:Great service, rooms and location, for sure even better during warmer months with the pool open.
Review 34:A beautiful setting but close to all the sights in Tuscany and Florence which is only 20 minutes away. Excellent food/breakfast,excellent service and accommodating staff, ready to assist with info about the area. I Would definitely recommend
Review 35:My wife and I absolutely loved this Hotel! The Staff was friendly, attentive, and they made us feel like we were apart of the family! The Breakfast was excelent! Definitely a value for the price!
Review 36:Wifi connection was poor. The room was well heated when we came in, but the next evening it was off, although the air-conditioner helped.
Review 37:The property and surrounding are really charming. Care and attention to every detail is obvious and amazing; from rooms, house and osteria to the food and how is served. The wines are also good. People are kind and friendly.
Review 38:Wifi was on the blink when we were there and even when working did not reach our room. Not a huge deal as there are several outdoor seating areas from which to work.
Review 39:Very calm and quiete, near the charming town of San Casciano in Val de Pesa. Close enough to Florence to drive in or take the bus for the day. Restaurant on the property is very good as are the wines from the property. Staff are warm, friendly, helpful. Breakfast is an ample buffet including meat, cheese, pastries, fruit, cereal, yogurt. We were in low season so enjoyed a very quiet time, and we enjoyed San Casciano very much. Definitely recomment this hotel for a stay near Florence and to explore the nearby country (San Giminiano, Greve, Siena).
Review 40:It is a pity that the wifi doesn't work, because if you want to research the area online, you can't. This really needs to be sorted.
Review 41:Wonderful 2 nights. The restaurant was superb as well as all the staff. A lovely location, we will definitely stay there again.
Review 42:Absolutely nothing !!!
Review 43:The view was just spectacular!!! The place was so calm and relaxing, would have loved to stay there longer and would definitely go back... The room was great too.. Katia & Francesco from the hotel were extremely helpful and nice. They made sure out stay was really comfortable...
Review 44:n.a.
Review 45:Very friendly staff. Wonderful historic building, located south of Florence, close to the freeway between Florence and Siena. Thus, all points of interest can be accessed easily. Very calm despite short distance to the street. Excellent restaurant, closed only on Wednesday. In summary, Poggio Borgoni is our favourite place to stay in Tuscany.
Review 46:That I had a flat tire while my stay there; but not their fault. :)
Review 47:We loved the staff as soon as we stepped out of our vehicle. So kind and helpful! The hotel is placed in a beautiful setting with amazing scenery. Breakfast was simple, elegant and delicious. Dinner next door and wine was superb! We enjoyed their gift of a bottle of wine! Also, had a flat tire and chef changed it for us while on a wine tour. Also staff transported us to wine tour. So generous!!! Everyone there went above and beyond to help us. Love you all!!
Review 48:The staff was wonderful and the restaurant food and atmosphere was fantastic and very quaint. The location was easy to get too. We used it as a central location and visited the wonderful towns all over Tuscany. I would highly recommend this location it is laid back compared to the larger resorts/villas and the staff and owners were very helpful. (Note: It is its own winery and their wine was paired perfectly with the chefs dinners)
Review 49:Everything was great, there is nothing to not like
Review 50:From the location, to the proximity to Florence, to the food, the wine, the comfort of the room, and the total value - this place has it all. A must stay.
Review 51:Perhaps including some wine glasses and a cork screw in the rooms so people can enjoy the excellent Tuscan wine they purchase! Apart from that nothing!
Review 52:Good location only 5 minutes drive to the main roads that take you between Siena and Florence. Quiet little place tucked into the countryside with great views. We rented the junior suite and this is perfect for autumn/winter time as it has a private sitting room, if going in the summer no.7 has a lovely little seating area outside to enjoy a glass of wine. Breakfast choices were great and ate a couple of times in the restaurant and the quality of food was excellent. The room furnishings are a little dated but it does add to the charm, very clean rooms. On one night had cheese and meats we had purchased from local market while having a glass of wine on the terrace. The restaurant happily obliged with some wine glasses, plates and cutlery whilst we watched the sunset!
Review 53:As with most villa/hotels that we stayed in in Italy, the beds and the comfort of the beds is an afterthought. They can easily spend hundreds of thousands on remodeling an old villa and then only spend $100 on a rock hard bed. I will say though that the bed at Relais was better than most, but not much better than your average college dorm room bed. It's amazing that you can spend $250 a night and sleep on a board. Why don't hotel owners spend $2k and upgrade the bed, they could easily charge extra for it and we would gladly pay to sleep better and the reviews would go up as well. Also the Wi-fi strength needs to be better in each room.
Review 54:We loved the location, the view, the grounds, pool and the food. We can't say enough about the food, it was excellent! The location was a perfect spot for day tripping by car around Tuscany. We would stay again.
Review 55:Only one thing I didn't like was the wifi service was very choppy. Hard to get a good connection.
Review 56:The location and the surroundings were beautiful. Tucked away and very quiet and peaceful. A great outdoor pool also.
Review 57:Not a thing. Everything was great.
Review 58:We had room #3 which is on the corner close to the pool on the top floor. Place is beyond beautiful. Such a relaxing get-away for us and made the trip even better. I would gladly stay here again and hope to come back soon.
Review 59:Not a lot
Review 60:Very friendly and helpful staff and accommodated our daughters family at very reasonable rate when visiting us for one night. Assisted in information of the area for walking and touring. Good food and all a hotel of this type should be
Review 61:The place is not well located on GPS. We got lost but in fact, the place is well indicated by signs so if you don't see the sign, it's that you're not at the right place Nothing wrong about the establishment!
Review 62:- Small hotel, about 10 rooms - Great service : the staff was always nice and ready to help you with anything - Great location : 20 min by car from Florence, 35 from San Gimignano, 50 min to 1h from other great cities like Siena or Volterra, and located in the chianti so also good if you intend to visit other small villages and wineries - We had a perfect room with view on the pool (which is great and the garden is really beautiful and peaceful) - Nice restaurant, with good wine that is produced by the establishment (small menu, but we heard the boss offer to another couple who ate there every night to ask for specifics (fish etc.) that were not on the menu and they could provide for the next days... so again, great service). We would definitely recommend this place
Review 63:Our room (one of the cheapest, outside of the main building) smelled of humidity. No wifi in the room. Just too many mosquitos in August...
Review 64:Very nice location. Good breakfast.
Review 65:The water in the shower went from hot to cold and vice versa but otherwise I would say the fact that we only booked one night!
Review 66:Poggio Borgoni was a last minute booking for us since we were looking for something close to Florence, yet secluded enough to relax and we found it. The landscape is truly beautiful, the staff is lovely, the pool is relaxing and the food is incredible. If we didn't have much more traveling to do we would've taken home a case of their Reserva wine! The rooms are also stocked very well and decorated beautifully. We will definitely be back and refer this gem to our friends.
Review 67:It would have been nice to have some sort of coffee making facilities in the room as the restaurant is only open in the morning and evening so no other options available. Also the wifi was a bit sporadic, but not important to us but may be to others.
Review 68:The location of the hotel is stunning, right in the heart of Chianti. The restaurant offers to most incredible food, both at breakfast and in the evening. There are beautiful terraces to enjoy the Borgoni wine with amazing views. The staff were really friendly and particularly helpfull to us when sorting our cycle routes through the region. I will definitely return.
Review 69:It was a very great hotel with fabulous views around. The hotel staff was very friendly and wait for us to check-in near 11pm. The room was very quiet and the bed was comforable. The breakfast was good. The location was great if you wait the visit the winery around.
Review 70:There was absolutely nothing not to like. It was exceptional!!
Review 71:This little hotel was set in the most idyllic place on earth. The staff were wonderful, friendly and catered to every desire you might have. The scenery was spectacular, what you dream Tuscany is all about, and it was hard not to just stare. The food was incredible, expensive, but worth every penny!! None of us really wanted to leave they all fell in love with the hotel, the kittens, the view, the ambience. We brought home wine from their little vineyard and it will be had with good friends and family when we are telling vacation stories. I would definitely, definitely recommend Relais Poggio Borgoni in a heartbeat!!!! I hope to go back and spend more time in this little piece of heaven!
