Reviews for Villa Il Fedino

Review 1:The room was unbelivable beautiful. Comfortable bed.Good service, fine brakefast. Beautiful garden. Nice staff. The location in San Casciano is very good for traveling in Chianti. Best accomodation experience ever.

Review 2:Alessandra arranged for a car to take us to the airport early on Sunday morning. Her husband recommended a nearby restaurant, Cantinetta Del Nonno, which was excellent. All in all, a great place to stay away from the crowds of Florence.

Review 3:We spent a wonderful time at the Villa il Fedino in which the objects and decorations bring a museum like aspect. The hosts are extremely nice people and they made us feel like we were among friends. The villa has large rooms with beautiful furniture, the bed is large and very comfortable; they helped us with public transport schedule which is the best way to get arround from my point of view; they can also book tickets for the museums in Florence, give useful hints, and arrange visits at the local wine makers. They only serve breakfast, but it is delicious and varied. From their garden you have a wonderful view of the old villas, of the hills with vineyards and olive trees - a typical Tuscan scenery. In the summer one can sunbathe and enjoy the pool. Florence is in the near vicinity - only 20km away, and a bus ride will last approximately 50min. Siena and San Gimignano are also close; we left in the morning from the villa and we visited Siena which is a must see. San Casciano was a pleasant experience. I recommend the Cantinetta del Nonno as the best typical italian restaurant in the area, as we have tried two others, but this one remained our favourite because of the food but especially for the best Tiramisu that i had ever eaten. I hope that in time we will be able to return at the Villa il Fedino.

Review 4:- quite basic room - quite expensive

Review 5:- nice personnel, customer oriented - very good and nice continental breakfast - nice views in a small town near Florence

Review 6:The atmosphere provided by Alessandra is amazing. Super friendly, very helpful and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable. The relaxed setting with stunning views of the countryside is an ideal base to explore the region and is only a short drive from Florence.

Review 7:Nil - just wish we had more time to stay at this lovely hotel.

Review 8:The host was nice and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel has a very nice view of the valley. The breakfast was just amusing - the best we had in Italy. The restaurant nearby was excellent - good was fresh and tasty and value for money.

Review 9:Perfect stay. Everything was so wonderful. The owners of the palace were very nice. We felt very welcomed. The room was very big with historic artistic decorations. There was also anti-mosquito machine in the room. They thought of everything. The room had a beautiful view from the large window. The garden with panorama view was fantastic. Would love to come back for sure! 10++++

Review 10:We had to change a room during our stay after we were given a free upgrade for first two nights. This however was not a problem for us and both rooms were very nice and comfortable. Wifi was ok but sometimes the speed was very slow.

Review 11:Perfect location, easy access by bus from Florence. Beautiful villa, garden with beautiful views perfect to relax. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Several restaurants and small shops within walking distance.

Review 12:The price was a little high. Also they served us a great small lunch in between meals but charged us more than fair price for the meal. Would have liked to know ahead of time what the price would have been and would have chosen another option.

Review 13:The view from the back patio and breakfast location were a Tuscan dream! The breakfast was delicious!

Review 14:we got the small extrior room. the wifi didnt work there

Review 15:very helpfull staff big balcony with a pool and great view rich and tasty breakfest good location near city center free parking

Review 16:We stayed for 3 nights before heading south. The Fedino family were very welcoming and the breakfast was amazing, especially the home grown figs and omelettes. The room was stunning and the views outstanding. I would highly recommend this property.

Review 17:Wifi not working properly, although we did not bother a lot identifying the problem and fixing it

Review 18:Nice garden and view over the vneyards, comfortable room

Review 19:Location was not quite what we expected. Very close to the town and the garden looks over a busy main road.

Review 20:Staff were wonderful, very helpful and friendly.

Review 21:Being in the loft space we missed having a view and the children were not too impressed with the pool which was a shame - more often freestanding plunge pool than one they could play in. They also seemed to think the water tastes strange which put them off a little. More of a good base from which to explore rather than a place to spend lots of time at chilling out

Review 22:Good location close to Florence with incredible views. Lovely sleepy town with some good places to eat with a wide range from pastas pizzas and more regional Tuscan dishes that were really good. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful.

Review 23:Our room was incredible! Huge, regal and extremely comfortable. The hosts could not do enough to ensure we had the best possible stay at their unique and special hotel.

Review 24:We had a room at the top of the building (there is no lift, just stairs). The bathroom was small and a bit outdated. We had a balcony, however we had no view because of a wall. Wi-fi was very poor in our room.

Review 25:Very friendly and helpful staff with the family approach. Parking included. Very good breakfast in the garden with a view over Tuscany. Very good location - near city center, but calm and romantic. Nice garden with a pool.

Review 26:The owners of the hotel are very helpful and very friendly. The environment is very relaxing and the view is absolutely amazing. The 700 year old house is very beautiful and stunning. The whole family (including my 10 year old boy)are very happy about this hotel. I would defiantly recommend this hotel for a lovely holiday in tuscany

Review 27:Ordinary room - although clean and convenient; private balcony invaded by other guests at night

Review 28:Very friendly staff, a nice hotel with lovely views over the hills, good breakfast

Review 29:Wifi didn't reach our room, so we had to check our email outside.

Review 30:We really enjoyed the beautiful garden and view. We were in a small room on the terrace, so spent much time outside. Staff were lovely

Review 31:For us it was like staying with friends. The hotel was in a very calm surrounding and we slept like babies. Every morning breakfast was a discovery as they served different things every day and you could ask for more. The view was also breathtaking from the Breakfast terrace. We will definitely go back.

Review 32:The stunning architecture is just the start to immersing yourself in this historic villa. We advised them we were arriving later in the evening, and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast on the verandah overlooking the chianti region was a show stopper. Convenient for the airport too!

Review 33:Warm and welcoming. Amazing fresh breakfast including eggs and fruit served on terrace. Away from busy city of Florence with easy access to other Tuscany towns.

Review 34:Nothing.

Review 35:Very old, but very comfortable and well equiped villa, that will make you feel like you are in medieval Tuscany. Garden is fabulous, with a view on hills and vineyards of Chianti. We had a ground floor room that was perfectly clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good. It is located in San Casciano which is a perfect spot for visiting Tuscany. From there we went for a ride through small towns of Chianti for one afternoon, then a day trip to Florence (half an hour by bus), day trip to San Gimignano and Siena, another day for Pisa and Lucca. All very convenient. The town itself offers couple of very nice traditional restaurants (we went to Cantinetta del nonno - highly recommended). The hosts - Alessandra and her husband will give their best to make your stay even better. I have to mention also Alessandra's bodyguard, poodle named Gas - the funniest dog ever!

Review 36:I didn't like that I only spent 1 night there. Wish we were there for 2 or 3 nights.

Review 37:We loved the hospitality and kindness shown my the owner and her husband. They offered us a free upgrade to an amazing grande suite. The property was exactly as in the pictures and place was serene with a great view.

Review 38:Nothing, everything was perfect

Review 39:Placed in the historical town, on the top of the hill, villa has stunning views to wake up to in the morning. With a private garden, parking and safety is not a problem, quiet, peaceful sleep is assured. The villa itself is like a medieval palace - tall, church-like ceilings, antique furniture and tapestries on the walls make you feel like you are in a castle. Owner is a wonderful, very friendly lady, who is eager to cater to guest's every need and is always ready to fulfill any demand. Room was very clean, bathroom and shower - modern and new. Breakfast was great, with in-house baked breads and local salumis. Children had great time playing in the garden while parents enjoyed coffee and stunning views. Florence is just 20 minutes drive from the hotel (roads are local, so no heavy traffic). Highly recommended stay!

Review 40:All positive really as owners go out of their way to please.

Review 41:A beautiful old villa in Tuscany with beautiful scenery! Location is ideal as it is close to Florence. It is also fab as it is in a village so you can walk to several restaurants for dinner rather than driving through the dark and winding Tuscan roads at night!!

Review 42:If you like Holiday Inns don't stay here, because this is one of a kind. But if you like something different with character, lovely people, a great location, wonderful views and amazing rooms this is the place. We will be back. Thank you

Review 43:Not a thing

Review 44:This is a great location 20 mins out of Florence in the Tuscany Hills. Short drives to wineries and historical villages. A simple bus trip into Florence or off into the Chainti hills by car. A magnificent Villa huge rooms. big comfortable beds, superb breakfasts. Alessandra and Armat could not have been more helpful.Superb hosts. A family run villa with all the home away from home needs Spent 4 days could have stayed 4 weeks if we had the time. Right in the village of San Casciano absolutely relaxing, fine restaurants ,foods and wine. Truly a Tuscany experience. Will be back.

Review 45:Owners and staff are friendly and did a great job to make our stay memorable. Location of the villa is great to visit Tuscany's villages and cities. Excellent home cooked breakfast. Don't miss it.

Review 46:This was our second trip to this location (and hotel) and the first time ever we stayed at the same location twice. However it was absolutely worth it, as this place makes you feel at home (or even better) and gives you the ideal short break. Lovely location, marvelous hotel with very friendly owners and the best Italian restuarants you can imagine in walking distance. This is a must try!

Review 47:Noisy, contrary to what others have said in their reviews. It was located on a main street in the small town. Also room was very small.

Review 48:Excellent breakfast! Nice patio

Review 49:Does not apply. The place is great

Review 50:My wife and I stayed at the villa for 6 nights on our honeymoon. The staff, rooms, food, location, and ambience were all incredible. It felt like you were a part of the Renaissance. The villa is owned by a great family who couldn't be more welcoming and inviting. The town was quaint, quiet, and beautiful. We loved ever single minute and we most certainly will be coming back!!!

Review 51:busy noisy road nearby. The shower in the en suite was quite weak. Take mosquito repellent, got bitten a lot.

Review 52:the views from the villa were excellent, and the village nearby was lovely. 2 very good restaurants. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 53:That we couldn't stay longer.

Review 54:The villa has been in Alessandra's family for generations and she and her family take great pride in making guests welcome and comfortable. The furnishing were lovely and well cared for. The home was immaculately clean and comfortable. The grounds were spacious with spectacular vistas and even a pool. They also served the best breakfast we had in our two week stay in Italy. The family is knowledgable about the surrounding area as only a lifelong resident can be and Lorenzo is an expert on the wines of the Chianti region. We are planning on returning.

Review 55:The only problem was the wifi connection was not very strong, but put the phone away and take in the views!

Review 56:We only stayed for two nights as a stop over but the villa was gorgeous and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Amazing breakfast, fantastic views, and the perfect yard to relax in - pool, hammocks, sun beds. The staff were absolutely wonderful, they were so very helpful, they even did our washing for us! Highly recommend it.

Review 57:No taxis in area - they have to come down from Firenze €50.

Review 58:Family run hotel. Could not do enough for us. Walking distance to San Casciano. Big rooms, high ceilings, comfortable bed.

Review 59:nothing to say.

Review 60:Wonderfull breakfast in the garden with spectacular views and very quite place. The owners very polite. and the room fantastic. I went 4 days with my family and it was great.

Review 61:Bring bug spray in summer. Traffic noise from the road running below hotel was modest, but interrupted the peaceful setting of the hotel.

Review 62:The owners made our stay outstanding. Very helpful serving us and in recommending restaurants and things to do/see. Location was superb in the middle of the Chianti region. Small town of San Casciano was excellent place to unwind and explore. View overlooking the valley with vineyards, olive trees and hills was delightful. The kids loved the swimming pool.

Review 63:A bit hard to find, but it's worth the search.

Review 64:Il Fedino is a beautifully restored villa with a view of the Tuscan hillsides that is magnificent. The owner and staff are wonderful and the breakfast is perfect. Our room was huge, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We hope to be able to visit it again.

Review 65:Bit far from the action although you come to a place like this for peace and quiet which is definitely there!

Review 66:Amazing views, staff very helpful and great home made breakfast. The lovely couple make you feel at home and the garden with hammocks is a perfect place to relax.

Review 67:Mosquitos! Not the fault of the hotel just be prepared. My daughter's back was cov ered in bites over one night.

Review 68:Sitting having breakfast on the garden terrace looking at the beautiful scenery was a highlight.

Review 69:Just back from Italy. Stayed two nights in Villa Il Fedino with 2 tennage children. Had a large suite on top floor with two separate bedrooms and a sitting area. Very welcoming hosts and air conditioning and fridge were great! Lovely house and great location on outskirts of the village. We tried two resturants and they were both good.

Review 70:Alessandra and her husband, the hosts, were very nice and because they were not full, they gave us a choice of one of several guest rooms, which were all beautifully appointed and very clean. They provided a local town map and recommended shops and restaurants, which were within easy walking distance.

Review 71:Very friendly and helpful staff; Located within old town close to bars, restaurants and shops; Beautiful garden with swimming pool; Delicious breakfast included in room price.

Review 72:We were given a room (s)that we did not book. It was on the top floor. ( 3 flights of stairs) It was dreary a little too dark and depressing. Even though it consisted of two rooms. I knew our booked room was given to someone else. We were staying 4nights and this was unacceptable. We had a restless nights sleep but after asking, we were moved the next day. Email a few days before arriving to confirm the room you booked. Do not take the room on top. Sorry Allessandra, but it is not pleasant. Wifi is in reception only. Bring a lot of mosquito spray!

Review 73:We first stayed at Castillo di Monterone, in Perugia, which was beautiful. Our daughters had always had their own room throughout our 2month trip. We booked the villa for the experience & walking proximity to town. We drove to the Villa, it's just that-a family Villa! We booked a year in advance to get the large room downstairs that had one queen bed and two twins, with a beautiful view & its own patio. We were greeted by Allessandra and her husband warmly, in the Italian way! We were moved the next day, & enjoyed 4 nights of blissful sleep. The room is on the left side (facing) the reception desk. The breakfast is on the terrace, and served with a smile. Ask for eggs if you want them otherwise you are served fruit, bread and cheese, and sometimes various meats. The view is relaxing, & spectacular. My husband & I used the dry cleaners in town, which was excellent. The restaurants are good. There is one pizza place that is popular w/ the locals, fun, inexpensive, and good. I recommend staying at the Villa for a unique experience. Bus to Florence is easy & recommended. We did not use our car for 4 days! Thank you so much.

Review 74:Struggled with the wifi, had hoped for dinner on site, and would have preferred a more Tuscan countryside location.

Review 75:The room was beautiful, classic, and decorated with antiques. The breakfast was quite nice both outside on the terrace and in the wine cellar. Very close to Firenze.
