Reviews for Hotel L'Approdo
Review 1:The bed was uncomfortable which was a shame because the room was fabulous in every other way.
Review 2:Great location with magnificent views. Between Rapallo and Santa Margherita.
Review 3:Wifi was not very good. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 4:The room, breakfast and bar/lounge area were attractive and modern. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 5:Parking was extra and expensive.
Review 6:The room was nice and AC worked great. Breakfast was excellent. WiFi was weak at times. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 7:The staff are second to none, the girls on reception were just lovely & could not do enough for us. Recommend this hotel to anyone. Really good base for Portofino & Cinque Terre.
Review 8:Considering this was a 3 Star hotel there was a lack of facilities such as a fridge in the bedroom and an iron. The lack of iron was particularly inconvenient as we were there for a wedding and needed to iron our outfits. There was also a local Church bell which rang at unusual times and for unusual length(I stopped counting after 23 rings!)
Review 9:The location was convenient with bus stops very close by. It was a clean hotel and the staff were friendly.
Review 10:The extremely steep drive is a hazard to anyone not in the peak of health and fitness or with young children. More steps and a handrail for the whole of the drive are essential to make this accesible to everyone. The bus stops outside which is good as there is no footpath in one direction making walking dangerous.
Review 11:Great view, friendly and helpful staff, Marta, Francesca and Cinzia were all wonderful and gave us lots of advice. A very relaxed atmosphere. Good to have a terrace to sit and look at the sea. Excellent breakfasts.
Review 12:We had a relaxing stay at Hotel L'Approdo. Delicious buffet breakfast in a garden setting. Our room had a balcony. Veiws of Rapallo, the bay. Comfortable bed. Helpful staff at reception. Advice about how to walk to Santa Margherita to the marina and restaurants.
Review 13:Slow wifi, but worked ;)
Review 14:Flexible & helpful staff, who provide all info you need very quickly by e-mail and also in person. We loved the breakfast on the terrace and the beautiful view from the superior room, very clean hotel for good value. It has a pleasant atmosphere, we also liked the style, the colors & decoration, ideal for young couples. 5 stars ;)
Review 15:Parking should be booked but at 15euros per day it aint cheap but there is no other parking anywhere.
Review 16:Hotel is excellent as are breakfast and our view on 3rd floor. 10min walk to restaurants nearest at San Michele di Pagana or 20min to Santa Margherita.
Review 17:The mattress was rock hard, but the staff stepped up and not only put a soft bed pad but noted our need for future stays. They remembered us from our stay last year, too. Nice breakfast as well.
Review 18:We found the location a little of an issue in that there is no pavement on the road for a large section if you wish to walk to Santa Margharita. But for the lack of pavement the location would have been fine.
Review 19:We liked the cleanliness and good state of repair all too often missing in Italian hotels
Review 20:Whilst the location relative to nearby towns is great, the 150m walk immediately out of the hotel before reaching a pavement is really not great. For that reason I'd suggest older travellers or young families would always need to use a car.
Review 21:The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly; there were no hidden costs and there was a plentiful supply at breakfast every day. We were also lucky to have first floor rooms with a larger balcony and sun loungers.
Review 22:A bit of confusion while checking in, but successfully completed. Lack of restaurants nearby
Review 23:Clean mordern beautiful sea-view from top floor. Short walk to the center of SMLigure but away from crowds and traffic.
Review 24:If you want to go to the center you can walk from the hotel (10 min). There is 150m of unpaved road that seems quite dangerous. I would not recomend to walk there by night. During our first breakfast, we were trying to eat outside, but it was impossible because of the bees. Even inside we were being "attacked". Anyway, the breakfast was really good in both quality and quantity.
Review 25:At the reception, the ladies were realy helpful. The room was realy nice.Very nice pizzeria near the hotel. The breakfast is buffet with a great varieaty of food.
Review 26:No pavement on the very busy road when walking to S. Margherita ligure. WiFi very slow
Review 27:Location, view from our balcony. Close to the sea. Good breakfast
Review 28:Noisy location (although the room is relatively quiet). Busy road in front of hotel. Parking very limited (read - try to find street parking). Wifi is the slowest ever experienced and only free for one device. A second device will cost 5 euro for the stay. No facilities at the hotel. Breakfast is OK.
Review 29:The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and bright but small. Large balcony with view from top-floor room (46). Location of the hotel is good for visits to Portofino and coast.
Review 30:The breakfast was nice enough but would have liked more variety (was exactly the same every day). Other reviews we read mentioned the walk on the road but we walked into Santa Margherita and back twice a day for a week and had no issues at all. All the drivers seemed very considerate and well aware that there may be pedestrians on the road. A little pricey for what it is though.
Review 31:The reception staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping standards were very high and the rooms comfortable. The terrace was particularly good with a stunning view (top floor). We would stay again.
Review 32:The hotel and location was exactly as desribed on the website. All the Staff were very friendly and receptionists polite, good fun and extremely helpful.
Review 33:Walking to Santa M is a little difficult as section of very busy road has no pavement. However, bus stop outside hotel for both directions and Portofino.
Review 34:Well located (but note comment about lack of footpath), especially into Santa Margherita. Comfortable, clean, good balcony and, given amount of traffic on main road, quiet as set back in its own grounds. Friendly and helpful reception staff.
Review 35:The Wi-Fi was very inconsistent. The beds were very firm. The walk to SML was harrowing.
Review 36:The staff, Marta in particular, were friendly and eager to help.
Review 37:Cabs are soooo expensive. A taxi to nearby Santa Margherita (10-20 min walk) was 20 euros and a cab back, after midnight was 35! No complaints about the actual hotel though.
Review 38:The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. We were given the opportunity to upgrade our room to one with a terrace and sea view when we arrived. It is really close to the sea and a ten min walk to Santa Margherita.
Review 39:This is a lovely hotel with nice, big rooms. The staff is very, very nice and extremely helpful. When our son wasn't feeling very well they called us a doctor to the hotel. Fantastic continental breakfast. Great location - close to a beach and easy to get round. We had a fantastic time.
Review 40:To get there, from train station, with luggage, even though just"600m", definitely required a taxi ride (Euro 20! - fixedprice), as it was far longer, around twisty hilly roads & near hotelno footpath. This latter makes doing anything by foot dangerous, sowhile we liked the hotel, it is really best for those with a car (thenwould be good, though limited parking).
Review 41:Pleasant modern(ish) hotel, staff friendly, helpful, good breakfast, room reasonable sized plus great balcony (we were upgraded), not noisy, some view.
Review 42:Quite a difficult walk into town on a very busy road, however did get used to it after a few days.
Review 43:Friendly and helpful staff, breakfast plentiful with lots of fresh fruit.
Review 44:Although hotel is on bus route to Rapallo and Santa Margarita di Ligure, there was no stop close by, and the first part of the road to Santa M is steep, busy but lacks a pavement. Although there is a good inexpensive ristorante/pizza nearby, plus a satisfactory one overlooking the sea,, there is no restaurant in the hotel. Onsite parking for 15 euros a night is limited to seven cars and awkward. There is also some on street parking nearby
Review 45:Bedroom with balcony overlooking sea - lovely view Visits to Portofino, Camogli and nearby Santa Margarita di Ligure Helpful and friendly staff Nearby free, public, scenic pebbly beaches with coastal walkway and lovely views Availability of parking, but note provisosp
Review 46:Location of the Hotel. there is a Church nearby... so be prepared to hear the sound of the bells every hour. I think it starts at 5 am
Review 47:Cinzia is a star. Nice breakfast, rooms are big, spacious, light. Clean bathrooms.
Review 48:Only issue was if you wanted to walk into St. Margherita, there was at least 100m where there was no sidewalk available and you had to walk amongst heavy traffic that was constantly speeding by on very hilly, twisty & narrow roads.
Review 49:Wonderful staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast!!
Review 50:Extraordinary friendly and helpful staff! Great view and comfy clean room with very nice breakfast buffet. The location is great and affordable to visit several other villages on the Ligurian Coast. Parking reservation is a good offer.
Review 51:Excellent location close to santa margharita ligure, but in the quiter spot of San Michele di pagana. Excellent, friendly, helpful and genuinely lovely staff who speak excellent english and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Simple, clean, tasteful, comfortable rooms with great views. Plus, there are pristine beaches that are close by for swimming. It's a wonderful place to relax or to base yourself for exploring the surrounding areas, which are all easily accessible by train or bus or on foot. Thanks cinzia, Marta and Francesca for a lovely stay!
Review 52:Would have been nice if they provided a simple evening menu . After a long drive did not feel like finding a restaurant to have a simple meal . Even something simple like an antipasti plate of cold meats , cheese and bread . Same sort of choice at breakfast , no cooking involved.
Review 53:The views , location ,staff , cleanliness.
Review 54:very steep walk to town, car recommended. Wifi painfully slow, to being unusefull and had to pay extra for extra devices.
Review 55:Hotel is very nice, and very relaxed atmosphere. rooms very new and clean and 24h reception and bar.
Review 56:The girls on the font desk are charming and very helpful. Thank you to Marta, Francesca and Cinzia for making us very welcome and doing everything they could to make our stay more enjoyable. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the facilities are those expected of a 3* hotel.
Review 57:Everything. From the warmest welcome from Marta on the phone when we got a bit lost to our superb breakfast. The interiors are so beautifully executed and our view breathtaking.
Review 58:The rooms were furnished with simplicity and good taste. The hotel is well maintained and very clean. It is a few minutes' walk from the sea and a small beach; away from the bustle of Rapallo but only 10 minutes' away from Sta Margarita and its shops and restaurants. The staff were not only professional and helpful, they were genuinly friendly. Our special thanks go to Francesca.
Review 59:No kettle in room. Written "rules" were a bit annoying.
Review 60:Good location, very clean and spacious room. Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfast menu. Quiet.
Review 61:Nothing
Review 62:Fabulous location and sea view. The hotel was very, very clean. Reception girls were more then excellent - very professional, helpful and very friendly. The breakfast had a lots of choice, something for everyone. After 2 weeks in this hotel I definitely recommended it to anyone.
Review 63:Some vegetables for breakfast would be really good as there is nothing. Not even cucumber or tomatoes. Otherwise the selection is ok for a 3-star hotel.
Review 64:As many others stated, staff at the reception is simply amazing. They surely get the same questions thousand times a week and yet they remain friendly and patient and can give you good recommendations even if you come unprepared. Location of the hotel between Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure couldn't be better with amazing views over the bay. We had a room on the 2nd floor and the view from our balcony was superb. (First floor might be little problematic because of the trees but those rooms have a bigger balcony with more furniture.) You can easily walk to both Rapallo and SML, we even hiked to Portofino which is 4 km away. We had a very pleasant stay and hope we will go back there again. The busy road that was described by many reviewers is really a bit scary but it is really just for 150 metres upwards from the hotel where there is no sidewalk. SML train station only a 15-minute walk away with good connections to Cinque Terre. Don't expect much from the room itself, as it's just a 3-star hotel, it really looks a bit like a hospital, but who cares when you have the beautiful view from your balcony!
Review 65:Its a steep hill from the road up to the hotel No pavement for first 300m towards St Margherita (didn't have car)
Review 66:Staff excellent Good breakfast comfortable room Reasonably fast WiFi Bar prices OK
Review 67:No negatives. If you are not into walking, (lazy person) you may find the location not so convenient.
Review 68:Room fresh and clean, Bathroom well layout and heaps of towels. Internet actually worked. Staff really friendly. Breakfast very good. Easy to find and in walking distance of most facilities.
Review 69:Very helpful and friendly staff who were happy to recommend places to eat and drink and excursions. Amazing location with beautiful views from the balcony, within easy walking distance from Santa Margherita Ligure and a small local beach. The room was very clean and decorated minimally, quite a difference from a lot of similar-priced hotels in that part of Europe! They also make an amazing Aperol spritz!
Review 70:There was only one thing that in the end turned out to be a non-issue. As an American I find the beds in Italy to be much too firm or downright hard. The mattress was a bit too firm but somehow I managed to sleep ok. When we checked out we mentioned this little detail to the front desk staff. They told us that they do have spare mattress pads that you can request. I admit I've been stupid all this time since I've never thought about asking for one. Good to know there's that option.
Review 71:We liked everything about this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The entire hotel was very clean. Their continental breakfast was very good. One detail I've never seen before is that they had an egg boiling station so you could make your own hard or soft boiled eggs. The small lounge area was comfortable with books in various languages for guests to read. We loved how quiet it was at night. Since it's situated between Rapallo and Santa Margherita there weren't people walking on the street making noise at all hours of the night. All in all, it was a great hotel experience and we will absolutely stay there again.
Review 72:Small hotel within walking distance of Santa Margherita in idyllic location directly across the road from a small but perfectly formed pebble beach of San Michelle. Quiet, clean, minimalist hotel with boutique feel. Bus stop directly outside hotel. A must stay for anyone visiting Santa Margherita or those travelling further to Portofino, Cinque Terre...
Review 73:Hotel parking space at 16 euros fee per day in an area with no alternative cost free appropriate parking possibilities around.. just unneccessarily expensive. Breakfast is OK but the choice of products offered does not fully match the altogether high level of the hotel. WiFi was very weak.
Review 74:The hotel is located on a hill between rapallo and santa margherita with a breathtaking seaside view. Both cities and three nice little beaches are within walking distance. Rooms are rather small but nice, clean and well equipped. Hotel interior is very modern. Reception staff is extremely friendly, patient and helpful with sightseeing advise and local event recommendations - mille grazie!
Review 75:The bathroom although is really clean could need a renovation.
Review 76:The view!! If travel to L'Approdo ask for rooms in the upper levels. The breakfast is really nice !
Review 77:The triple room in which we were accommodated was very small. Breakfast is monotonous. Wi-fi is very bad. Parking is a problem. There are only 7 parking places for 32 rooms. Overall - not bad hotel, but in any case not for the money we payed.
Review 78:Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Special thanks to Francesca, who knows everything and gives us valuable tips for our stay in the area. Very nice view from the terrace. Cleanliness is good.
Review 79:The hotel wAs on a very busy road with no pavement near the hotel so couldn't walk into Sta. Margarita Ligure.
Review 80:It was in a very good location with on site car parking. The breakfasts were good with a good choices. Staff very helpful. Views were great from balcony. Would recommend to friends.
Review 81:Wifi in room not very good
Review 82:- Modern, stylish rooms - Large balcony - Friendly, helpful staff - Buffet breakfast with large range of different foods - Great location - walking distance to both Rapallo and Santa Margherita - Close to lovely, small beach
Review 83:The walk into town is a little perilous as there is no pedestrian path and it's narrow so be prepared for a duel with the traffic.
Review 84:The hotel is very clean and efficiently run by personable staff who are all multi-lingual.
Review 85:The housekeepers shoved all of our belongings to one corner. We were told that they only did their job. No other hotel has this kind of "housekeeping". We asked for 30min late checkout but it wasn't possible although their checkin time is 15:00.
Review 86:Great location and friendly staff. Hotel is short walk from the centre of Santa Margarita and equally to Rapallo. We upgraded to a superior room with fantastic view. Breakfast is good with great variety of fruits, pastries, juices and coffees.
Review 87:Location was perfect, only 10 mins walkj from train station (you don't need a taxi). And just 500 metres from a beautiful natural beach on one side of the church and the other a lovely restaurant, right on the sea front...perfect
Review 88:Wonderful views from a lovely balcony
Review 89:Staff was really friendly and helpful.
Review 90:parking on the street not as convenient as in the hotel, but it is minor issue
Review 91:nice and modern hotel which is rare in italy
Review 92:The service was excellent and the value was beyond compare.
Review 93:Instant breakfest, missing local food Slow wifi - back to 90´s Thin walls, you hear more than you want
Review 94:The staff, especially Francesca. Location, rooms, terraces.
Review 95:Very slow internet
