Reviews for Obeid's Bedouin Life Camp
Review 1:Obeid's family are very friendly and hospitality oriented. Guests are their main focus. It is a family run business they pay attention to every aspect so that the guest needs are satisfied. We have been pickedup at the Amman Airport by Obeid's son and dropped us at the Camp. When we reached the camp everything was ready and our care has been taken over by Obeid's second son. The refreshments and Dinner was excellent and so the tents. Next day the breakfast was ready as per the agreed time and they drove us back to where we wanted. Property listed on Booking.com is exactly the same on ground. I would go here again.
Review 2:It is a really special experience to camp in Wadi Rum and everyone should try it while traveling in Jordan. Obeid's camp made the experience all the more special, or I should say, his sons did. Obeid was out of the country, but his sons did an amazing job hosting us. We did not even realize Obeid was out of the country until we got to the camp, because he was so amazing about keeping in touch with us through WhatsApp to get our arrival time correct so that his son was there to meet us. During our two night stay there was a constant supply of wonderful Bedouin tea and conversation. Their cousins stopped by at one point and we were able to learn more about Jordan and Bedouin life. The food in the evening was fantastic. The first night it was the typical food cooked underground. Our second night, since at that point we were the only ones at the camp, Obeid's son also made a great chicken and rice dinner with a salad. We were more than well fed and it was delicious. The mattresses are on the floor in the tents, which I was initially worried about for some reason, but actually quite enjoyed. It added to the atmosphere and coziness of the room. The bathrooms are a 30 second walk away from the tent area and were quite clean. They seemed fairly new to me. The location of the camp was great with amazing views right behind it. There is also a large rock that was fun to climb and sit atop to read a book or just enjoy the scenery. On our first night there was another couple there and we had a really nice time learning about them and their country. If you are lucky and the right people are there, it is a great atmosphere to get to know other travelers. I really cannot recommend Obeid's camp enough. His sons really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and happy.
Review 3:I went on a trip to Jordan for a few days with my wife, and this was definitely the best part. Nail, the owners's son, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He provided amazing service (and great food) and made sure that we had a great time. He picked us up, dropped at the border (sorry about the police ticket you've got) and helped us find other activities to do in the area. Our New Year's Eve in Wadi Rum Protected Area was a night I will never forget. Highly Recommended!!!
Review 4:Amazing place in desert, smaller camp, family atmosphere. Fantastic local food and specialities. We really enjoyed desert thanks fantastic trip arranged by staff. Fully recommended to all travellers who are looking for personalised approach.
Review 5:nothing
Review 6:It is a real pleasure to write my review. I spent a day and a night there. It was simply perfect. The big tour in 4x4 was incredible, the sunset tour (camel ride) was worth it and breathtaking. The view from the camp is great. The food was delicious. The bathrooms are incredible for the place (clean toilets, hot shower, seriously ?). Salem, one of the sons of the owner took good care of me and the other 3 tourists in a very simple, diligent, careful and gentle way. Making sure everything was ok, taking care of transportation, bus connection etc... Just simply a great person to share moments with (after all this is what travelling is all about isn't it ?). If i sit now and think about my best moments in Jordan i see this camp by the cliff and the great moments spent there. Just go there ! Thank you Salem, you are a perfect host !
Review 7:The to and fro from Aqaba at 30 JD a piece was expensive. Also, 40 JD for jeep tour was unimpressive.
Review 8:I loved the staff. Very friendly. Very helpful. Very customer oriented.
Review 9:This is a family run camp, and offers a personalised service. It was lovely to watch the stars around the fire and then sleep in a tent. Also the bathroom facilities were excellant
Review 10:Obeid was very communicative prior to our arrival to arrange the meet-up and the activities (camel ride, hiking/jeep, etc) that we were interested in, which was helpful to plan the trip and understand the costs. His three sons made us feel at home, cooking for us and singing songs under the stars around the campfire. And we certainly did not expect to find such nice bathrooms in the middle of the desert!
Review 11:Obeid and his son's are wonderfully delightful and will make sure you have a unique stay. Definitely go on a 4x4 tour! Also, you can sleep out under the desert stars at night if you choose which was great!
Review 12:I have stayed at three camps in Wadi Rum, and this one was by far my favorite. Obeid and his sons really went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay with them, and the food and location were excellent as well.
Review 13:Staff consisted of a 12 year old boy and his older brother. The 12 year old was the one doing most of the work. The older brother was nice but didn't really care to be there. There were only 2 of us in the camp that evening. The older brother (our guide) was mainly texting while at dinner and didn't explain too much on the full day tour. Lunch - canned tuna lunch is unacceptable. They have refrigeration since both the vegetables and water were chilled. Serving canned tuna for 7 JD was a sad ending to the trip.
Review 14:The location was good. Toilet and showers were very clean. Full day tour - mediocre. Bedouin dinner - mediocre. Staff - a 12 year old boy and his older brother. Scenery - stunning but this had nothing to do with the camp itself. Note: The rest of the family lives in a village nearby.
Review 15:As a single, female, traveler I was very concerned about finding the right camp. I could NOT have chosen a better camp. Obeid and his sons were extremely kind, knowledgeable and flexible. Their camp is beautiful and the services they offer are top notch.
Review 16:None at all.
Review 17:Nial was the ultimate host - we even got invited to his cousin's wedding! The location was stunning, food the best of our trip and the tent deliciously cool but cosy after the scorching heat of the day.
Review 18:The tent was cold, especially after the rain, so sleeping even in the tent, you had to keep all limbs under the provided blankets, which as a couple was a bit challenging. If you're coming in a rainy or cold season, I advise you to sleep in warm undershirts. The experience is authentic, but I longed for hot coals nearby.
Review 19:Bedouins are known for their hospitality, and this camp didn't disappoint. Although it is in Disi, not Wadi Rum, the desert experience felt very authentic. The jeep trips were great and I got to climb some mountains, even try snowboarding on the sand! The camel rides were magical, and I would highly recommend viewing both the sunsets and sunrises. Oh, and the starry sky is magnificent at night! I stayed outside the tent for a good long while, and I think I even caught a shooting star!
Review 20:The food was overpriced and bad. The staff was always absent-minded, playing with their phones rather than talking with the guests. Stars weren't as good as expected, Utah's night sky was ten times better, or just any remote village would be as good if not far better.
Review 21:Good location, very pretty. The toilet facilities were clean and plenty of privacy. Tents are pretty cozy, considering you are out in the desert, you cannot ask for complete comfort (so, stay one night when possible, don't go beyond two nights, you will hate it). Tea was good. The cats were cute. Plenty of guests all the time so you could make friends.
Review 22:Thicker mattresses would be a plus
Review 23:Family run camp, excellent location, clean tents and bathrooms, plentiful food. Overall a great experience for me and my family visiting from the states.
Review 24:not too much as living in a tent in the dessert, you won't expect much.
Review 25:the service & the dinner & the jeep tour & the camel riding & the stars at night
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:Very pleasant location in the middle of the reserve, staff helpfull and nice. They contacted us after booking and explained the tours offered, lunch, dinner, etc giving us also prices, so we could organized our arrival and stay in the reserve. The company was very nice and interesting.
Review 28:Nayil and Salim, Obeid son's run the camp in a wonderful, welcoming and friendly way. Highly recommended for an authentic desert experience. The location is better than in the proper wadi Rum canyon (as I expected from the location listed). Next time in Jordan this will be my first stop.
Review 29:+ Proactive communication regarding pick up and planning the trip + Very friendly family run camp + Amazing food + Great facilities + Really put in the extra effort to make sure you have the full Wadi Rum experience + Took us to a local camel race which was great fun!
Review 30:This was my second time staying at this camp. Each time has been excellent- Obeid and his sons are extremely welcoming, the meal is delicious, and accommodations are rustic, of course, but comfortable. I highly recommend a stay.
Review 31:Nothing about the actual stay itself. However, was saddened by the fact that due to unrest/noise in the neighbouring countries the number of tourists visiting I understood had dropped. I can assure you that during my two weeks travelling as a single female I never once felt unsafe anywhere. Jordan still remains the safest country in the Middle-East!
Review 32:It was no easy task choosing between the camps... I was trying to find one which was near enough as genuine as possible - and got lucky! From the moment I made the reservation I was e-mailing questions regarding, tours, camel riding and transport to and from the camp with Obeid. I don't drive myself but this was easily arranged as Nayel, Obeid's son, picked me up from and dropped me off in Aqaba. Spent a few lovely days touring in Wadi Rum and saw both (!) Lawrence houses, mushroom stones, natural bridges etc. After dinner the entertainment was both singing and dancing Beduoin style and tea drinking by the camp fire, as well as star gazing! I must commend Obeid on having such fantastic sons and nephews taking care of us visitors, they were such gentlemen and I really felt at home in the desert
Review 33:Everything,Nayel and Salem was really helpful(the guys who have the camping),the make u feeling comfortable from the first moment,wc was clean , the tents was really nice
Review 34:Nothing...
Review 35:We were 2 girls travelling and we felt confortable and safe at Obeid camp. Obeid's sons organized an excellent jeep tour in the desert and camel ride at sunset, which was amazing!!! They organized a traditional dinner and it was perfect. Tents are confortable ! Thanks a lot to the Obeid's family for this wonderful stay in Wadi Rum!!! We fully recommend this place. Emilie and Dora
Review 36:The trustworthiness and kindness of the local people who went out of their way to help us to get to the camp at night. Wonderful hospitality the staff at the camp. Delicious genuine Bedouin food. Adventurous camel ride. Exhilarating jeep tour of the sites in Wadi Rum. Overall a highly recommended and unforgettable experience that my children can't stop talking about.
Review 37:This is a beautiful camp set out in the desert and generally the staff (Nail and Salem at the time) are really nice people. They went out of their way to make us comfortable, were very chatty and friendly, and we had a vote of confidence for this camp from another family who had visited them a whooping 10 times. Sleeping out under the stars was an amazing experience. The camp is clean, well-kept and the lodging was an enjoyable experience. There was a vantage point which you can clamber up to watch the sunset and get a panoramic view of the surrounding desert. At the time there were some disputes between the local tribes which means that any tours you do with them won't actually cover the main sites in Wadi Rum, but rather locations in the Disi desert - which is also beautiful, but not what we expected. Overall I would still recommend this camp. Honest people who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
Review 38:The owner was away and his two sons did a rather indifferent job. I had looked forward to a traditional meal cooked in an underground oven but because there was only my husband and myself and a young woman from the UK apparently it was too much trouble to do. Instead we waited until 9pm for over-cooked dried out chicken done I presume in a fring pan. The floor of the tent was sloping so all night we scrambled back up the mattress. In the morning because we had opted to get the early local bus our breakfast consisted of some flatbread and cheese in a black plastic bag. BTW we had to wake the young man whose phone alarm had gone through endless cycles or we would have missed our bus. Just a hit cup of tea would have been nice.
Review 39:The location is awesome. It's hard to be otherwise in the Wadi Rum area.
Review 40:Nothing worth to mention. Of course a desert-camp is not a 5-star hotel, but the camp had everything you need.
Review 41:Booked our stay one day in advance and got immediate response from Obeid to arrange the pick up at the visitor center. Obeid and his sons did everything to make our stay a gread experience! (3 hours jeep tour in the hot afternoon sun, despite Ramadan) Barbecue dinner was delicious. The shared restroom facilities (toilets, shower) were clean. Perfect place for all who like to get an authentic experience in a small family-run camp.
Review 42:Good location, good diner\breakfast, very friendly and hospitable people.
Review 43:Scenery, beauty, landscaping
Review 44:Great experience. The obeid's family are really cool people.
Review 45:It's a family run business and salm Looked after us,he cooked us delicious dinner and sang bedioun song , his voice is great.
Review 46:Great experience, great place, great hospitality
Review 47:The place was great and Obeid and his sons were very friendly and helpfull. We felt very comfortable and the camel tour was amazing.
Review 48:Very friendly, good value for money. Dinner was great and the driving tour was really cool.
Review 49:Nothing bad to say
Review 50:Staff very friendly Jeep tours at sunset Excellent food and entertainment
Review 51:The family are astonishing. Simply cannot be bettered
Review 52:The guys who looked after us did everything they could for us. Great experience would fully recommend
Review 53:nice staff who picked me at the road to the desert, fantastic traditional bedouin underground cook. Everything is unforgettable.
Review 54:The helpfulness of the staff
Review 55:We went on the full day jeep ride with Niel, Obied's son, and he was a great guide. We stopped at many desert attractions and at lots of his friends tents for tea.The camp is small and intimate which makes it very personal and our time there was one of our favorite parts of our Jordanian adventure.
Review 56:None
Review 57:Its a fqmily run business... obeid is extremely cooperative and makes a point to ensure that his guests arw getting the best possible service. Highly recommended to ant one who wishes to experience the true bedouin life in a desert.
Review 58:We arrived at lunchtime on a hot day. Wish we arrived later (3:00PM) instead to avoid mid day heat and unnecessary 3 hour wait in hot weather for afternoon excursion.
Review 59:Got warm welcome and personal pick up at the Wadi Rum visitor center by Obeid’s son on his 4WD. Very friendly staff offers picturesque tailor made excursion of Wadi Rum, tasty Bedouin dinner, delicious mint tea and Bedouin songs in the evening offering unpolluted views of sky full of bright stars. We appreciated private family style attention we received during our stay.
Review 60:The best part of my Jordan trip! Amazing place, amazing atmosphere, amazing people. It's not a hotel, it's a real beduin camp that you want to experience. Mr Obeid, his son Nayel, and all his brothers and cousins are amazing people. I would definitely come back.
Review 61:Staff is very kind, friendly and helpful! Location is good, good! Facility is not big, but...that is why you can be relaxed. Guests can spend silent time in desert! Especially, you can get great view from the rock hill (which is also used for Bedouin people's facility...!).
Review 62:We had a great time, Obeid's family was huge everyone very kind and polite. We had the most authentic experience with them. the tour in the desert was great, we'd suggest the 4 hours one. Great time in the night as well with songs and dances.
Review 63:Nothing, actually. Maybe the prices for the 4x4 jeep tour are a tiny bit high, but if you compare that to the price for one night, its fine.
Review 64:Very nice place and I guess this is as authentic as it comes. Obeid's son, nephew and uncle are great people that showed us the desert, which was breathtaking. Definitely don't go for those loud, fake big camps and go for this small one.
Review 65:Campsite location: Beautiful scenery Activities: jeep tour of the desert, sand boarding (snowboard on sand), stargazing at night, climbing nearby rock formations Food: Very good especially the dinner Sleeping: large tent, mattress to sleep on and many blankets available to keep warm. Bathroom: Clean. American style toilets Other: the owner was very helpful in arranging transport and accommodation in Aqaba for us. He and his family were friendly and happily shared information with us about Wadi Rum and Jordan culture. Our camping experience in Jordan was one of the highlights of our trip.
Review 66:I spent a day and night in Obeid´s camp and for me it was one of the best experience I had during my stay in Jordan Obeid and his sons Nail and Salim were perfect hosts. The camp is in a great location inside the protected area), the excursions were great, and the food was delicious. The private tents were spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms had hot water and flush toilets. We immediately started the jeep tour, which was fantastic. Then we arrived back at sunset to take a camel ride After the tour the dinner was ready and then we sat by the fire while they sang songs. I highly recommend Bedouin Life Camp to everyone.
Review 67:I had a super night in Wadi Rum at Obeid's camp. You will be treated to the absolute best the desert has to offer and shown it all by very special people. Thanks again Obeid, Salim, Nayel (AND family!!!) for giving a very memorable and enjoyable experience! I will definitely see you again! Obeid and his family are lovely, kind and generous it was nice to spend time with them. The desert jeep tour was a lot of fun, Nayel was a brilliant tour guide. The food at the camp was very good, thanks to Salem who is not only a talented cook but also a very talented drummer and singer. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I am sure you'll also have a memorable experience. Obeid will pick you up at Petra, Aqaba, Dead Sea or Amman. A stay in his camp is an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life!! Clean tents and linen, nice and clean shower as well. Otherwise perfect bedouin atmosphere. Don't miss it.
