Reviews for Calanica Resort
Review 1:Poor wifi and very limited cooking facilities
Review 2:Stunning private, quiet beach, great for snorkelling and very friendly staff - and freshly squeezed OJ for breakfast
Review 3:you have to be fit there - it's located on the cliff - every day you go up and down. consider it coming with advanced pregnancy or just being older.
Review 4:cases and cases of local oranges to make your perfect juice (filtered or with fiber) by your self during the breakfast. even top spa location do not offer this simple option. the rest of breakfast is still healthy and wealthy but boring. perfect views, very nice staff
Review 5:Fantastic resort... Relaxed atmosphere, really friendly and helpful staff, good food, outstanding views over the sea. Great for an escape where you can sit on the private beach and do nothing all day or sight-see beautiful Sicily. The bungalows are comfortable, private and well equipped. The resort is very well maintained and tranquil. Loved every minute and will definitely go back again.
Review 6:To move around you need a car, but they also can rent a bicycle. Lots of families with kids.
Review 7:Stunning setting with beautiful views. Bungalows give enough privacy, so you can relax. Very good service, friendly and willing to go extra mile to make you happy.
Review 8:The only complain I would have is the stability of the WiFi
Review 9:Location, all bungalow's have a great view and a great deal of privacy. They use every square foot very efficiently. The staff was super friendly.
Review 10:no wifi in rooms, was cold windy weather and had to walk mostly outside to get to room, reception, and restaurant
Review 11:beautiful location with rugged coastline and beach area, unique round hut rooms with modern interior, friendly staff, good choice for breakfast, 30 min walk to town but pleasant scenic path to get there
Review 12:Cleaning and maintenance could be improved - room cleaning is basic, the towels weren't changed and the in-room kitchen wasn't cleaned (if you provide a kitchen, either provide cleaning products together with it, or include it in the daily cleaning routine)
Review 13:We got to Calanica after touring the south of Italy for about 10 days and loved it - the resort is calm and beautiful. There's a private beach, the water was great, and the beach facilities were also good. Also, it's close to the city (10min drive) if you want to visit Cefalu.
Review 14:This resort was Excellent, the place and all the staff. They are friendly and helpful. The room was are factastic with amazing views! All the need in the room including cooking facilies. Parking is safe. Safe for Children too. There is nothing more relaxing and you can hear the birds. We were family with 3 young children. When we arrive my kids ran to see everything. It is amizing place. Lovely pool and beach to swim. I cannot explain in more word how nice it was. I went for 1 night and we stay all the time in resort. The breakfast was as we eat in our country. It was like lunch with all the breakfast to choose, also fruits, cakes and allkinds of drinks. There is a restaurant near the pool where you can eat. Day after we went to Cefalu. The Cefalu town it not far away with car 5 mins. It is nice place to visit. And easy to park. When you go to Cefalu book here it is Excellent resort. I will go back for sure. Staff helpful for direction and where you need to go. Thanks
Review 15:Room was smelly and musty on arrival Large spotlight/floodlight right in front of our bungalow No information on mini bar (prices) Beach was filthy and not as shown in pictures
Review 16:Large, spacious and modern room Beautiful views Quiet resort Good breakfast
Review 17:This hotel was wonderful, from the location to the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms are gorgeous with amazing views! There is nothing more relaxing than falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. We were on our honeymoon and enjoyed the tranquility of the resort as well as its proximity to town. It's about a 30 minute walk into town but if you have a car, you can be there in 5 minutes and we always found plenty of parking lungomare. Also note that there are a lot of stairs to get anywhere in the resort. We didn't mind, it made us feel less guilty about all the wonderful food we were eating!!! Don't hesitate to book this hotel, we would have stayed longer if we could and would love to go back!
Review 18:You pay top dollar for the location. There is no bar scene, you have to walk 25 minutes to the town, etc. It's all about the location overlooking the sea.
Review 19:Calancia resort is essentially a collection of modern huts built into the side of a cliff overlooking the north coast of Sicily - you pay top dollar but if your looking to treat yourself for 1 or 2 nights you can't do better
Review 20:Standard of restaurant food could be more interesting and higher quality.
Review 21:The beach - the view - the nice and quiet location - abt 2 km from city centre.
Review 22:It's a slight trek to centre of town (40 mins) but a nice walk withpit stops (beach side bars) along the way. Taxi back 10 euro. Ourbungaow was a bit too close to the train line and the room was quitelight so didn't sleep as well as I could've done
Review 23:Beautiful location, built in to the cliff (sensitively), with balconylooking out over the sea. Rooms were brilliantly designed squeezing alot in to a small space (without it feeling small). Staff reallyfriendly and helpful, particularly on reception. Great facilitiesincluding choice of pool or beach with bars and restaurants or site or acouple of externals close by, we loved it
Review 24:air conditioning was not working properly. To fix it, it started making a recurrent buzz which made sleeping impossible. The bathroom had a very bad smell. Maybe it is just room 13...
Review 25:Disappointing restaurant. Bathroom in bungalow seemed to smell. Would be useful to put a blind or curtain on the window next to the door to the bungalow - it's frosty glass so you can't see in but there is a very bright light outside (we draped something over to make it dark so it didn't disturb us)
Review 26:Very friendly and helpful manager. Liked the bungalows, good bed, great storage, fantastic view from bungalow and whole resort. Loved hearing the sound of the sea at night. Preferred staying here to in town as it was quiet - cefalu seemed busy.
Review 27:Beds were a little too hard
Review 28:This was a great place to stay and very different from other places. The beach was supurb, the huts fitted with everything you need and great breakfast and dinner, we just needed more time.
Review 29:While the location was beautiful as other reviewers have mentioned....It really was not easily walkable to the city center of Cefalu. So beprepared to use a taxi for 10 euros each way. Also, depending on theroom you get, the resort has a great many stairs and ramps to getwhere you need to go...it's a workout! While breakfast was good Iwas not overly impressed with the restaurant for dinner and foundbetter in the city.
Review 30:The location was just beautiful and the "bungalow" was a likea modern large hotel suite with fantastic huge private terrace with abreathtaking view. The staff were a fantastic group of guys that were sonice and personable. They were helpful in anything that we required.
Review 31:A bit too long to the pool if you have small kids and forget something in the bungalow - or they want to go to the toilet. A bit too poor equipment at the kitchen in the bungalows; no wine glasses, chef knives (not even for bread), frying pan nor corkscrew. Tiny tables, only space for two people eating at the same time. Expensive restaurant with terrible food connected to the resort.
Review 32:Beautiful place perfect places next to Cefalú - if you have a car. Really close to the beach with small stones and perfect for snorkling for children 8 years and up; several big rocks to swim to and find fishes nearby. A cute strand bar there, with sales of cold drinks/soda and ice cream, and quite a lot amount of sun beds - never a problem to get one. Nice people working there, and good service.
Review 33:Loved the view and sound of sea being very close
Review 34:poor kitchen equipment
Review 35:Seaview; good breakfast; big swimming pool; clean room; nice restaurants in Cefalu
Review 36:No in room tea or coffee making facilities
Review 37:Location
Review 38:I didn't stay long enough to enjoy it more
Review 39:The Location. The bungalows. The view. The staff The breakfast. Etc etc
Review 40:Toilet is small and shower cubicle leaks. Food is acceptable.
Review 41:location is excellent for relaxing, staff very friendly.
Review 42:Beautiful small resort, good facilities, nice buffet breakfast. Very child friendly.
Review 43:That we couldn' stay longer
Review 44:Very nice staff, nice location, very quiet, nice rooms.
Review 45:Very nice, friendly staffs!
Review 46:kitchen
Review 47:Excellent position and beautiful location, staff is engaged, friendly and professional.
Review 48:Beautiful view, clean and quiet right on the shore.
Review 49:Nothing to dislike!
Review 50:Fabulous location, different experience, we were given a really nice position. It was our anniversary and a bottle of bubbly was left in our room. Staff really helpful.
Review 51:Sadly, the beach was composed of large stones and very tricky to navigate. Facilities such as fences, decks and paths looked tired and require repairing and updating.
Review 52:Stunning location with very friendly and helpful staff. The cabins were very well designed to maximise the use of the space and the bed was among the most comfortable we have ever experienced.
Review 53:Wifi was slow and seemed to fail at least once a day. Breakfast was ok, coffee was out of self-serve machines which really didn't fit with the caliber of the resort (or the fact we were in Sicily).
Review 54:Wonderful, private location just a few minutes down the road from historic Cefalu. The individual bungalows were recently renovated and had a clean, modern design. Staff was friendly and helpful. The beach area was great--first in Italy where we didn't have to contend with people selling us stuff. Be aware though it is rocky, so we spend most of the time on a raised deck that had beach chairs, umbrellas, and a bar/food stand.
Review 55:Poor WiFi reception in the rooms.
Review 56:Domenico was very helpful in planning our trip. He answered emails promptly and courteously even though I probably got a little anal at times. I tend to over engineer everything. Salvatore was always at the ready for anything we needed. Sara and Mauro were equally helpful at the restaurant. The food was good and the service was excellent. We dumped most of our other dining plans to eat at Calanica most often. What a view! We loved the view from our bungalow as well and fell asleep each night lulled by the lapping sea at our doorstep. It’s a 20 minute walk or a 10 € cab ride to Cefalu and a 1 hour car ride to Palermo or Parco delle Madonie. On a two-week, five-city holiday, Calanica was not the fanciest hotel of several that we have highly rated but it was the best location and the most fun, even when compared to much more expensive accommodations. It made us want to live in Sicily. Thank you Calanica – the crown jewel of our holiday.
Review 57:We had some problems with the internet connection in our bungalow on and off but it was always working in the main reception but the staff tried very hard to solve the local problem at that time. Thank you.
Review 58:The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The view from the restaurant and bungalow was overwhelming. cefalu is a very beautiful spot and very picturesque. The National Park nearby is a wonderful area for walk during spring time . I can highly recommend this place for culture good food excellent wine and relaxation. From the resort is a lovely walk along the seaside to the town of Cefalu. It takes 15 - 20 min. Because we had a problem with the WiFi in our bungalow due to local problems on and off the director of the resort invited us to a fantastic 4 course meal and a excellent bottle of local wine fir free. We can highly recommend this place for travellers who like a lovely but quiet place with lots of places to discover surrounded in an area of very friendly people.
Review 59:WOW what a wonderful place to stay. All the staff was SUPER. Great location, comfy beds. Loved the bungalow style accomadations Would I go back? You betcha
Review 60:The warm water was used up very soon, so no long showers were possible.
Review 61:Stunning location. The bungalow was (or at least seemed) new. It was enough for two persons. The breakfast was good with nice extra local cheese. The food at dinner was quite good.
Review 62:Not always enough space for all the cars of the hotel guests.
Review 63:Great location and views. Good service from the staff and pretty large breakfast. The beach is very nice but is a rocky one + the hotel is on a steep hill so I would not recommend with young child or for people with walking difficulties.
Review 64:Nothing...but do watch restaurant & bar bills - quickly mount up.
Review 65:Very peaceful, staff very friendly & helpful, but not intrusive. Standard of finishings inside the huts extremely good, clean & neat, but also very functional with good air-con and a useable kitchen. Lovely little cove for swimming/snorkelling, but ideally tak swimming shoes to enable easier access across pebbles.
Review 66:Perfect place to relax while the kids can splash in the sea or the swimming pool. The staff and the neighbours made sure everybody had a great time. And it is really close to Cefalu'.
Review 67:The breakfast was poor, the beach in front of the hotel was a bit uncomfortable
Review 68:The bungalows are great and renovated with nice materials and good taste
Review 69:The price was a little high.
Review 70:Fascinating location straight on the cliffs. Felt like staying in a lighthouse (one of the top bungalows). Very service-minded and nice staff. Best breakfast we experienced during this trip, including four hotels.
Review 71:The food at the restaurant could improve. Portions are small. However, restaurants in Cefalu are really good.
Review 72:Amazing view from the cottage and very friendly staff. Best check-in in Sicily. Own beach was a plus even though it consisted of small stones. One if the best locations for jogging/running in Sicily.
Review 73:Its not sand beach but if you don't mind the rock beach then your good. My kids are older so the rock beach was not a problem.
Review 74:Great customer service and the room was newly renovated so everything was amazing even the bed we slept on. In the past I have complained about the mattresses in other hotels/resorts. Breakfast was great too no pancakes or bacon but hard boiled eggs, bread, yogurd, cereal, coffee, juice...exc...
Review 75:Pool closed at the beginning of April.... and the food (lunch and dinner) can definetely improve for half/full board customer. The choices are not very good, and I would say pretty small. With a view like the restaurant have, people will be happy to spend a bit more and get better food choice !
Review 76:Probably the most friendly reception / bar staff I have met in the whole 10 days trip in Sicily. The bungalows have also just been refurbished ! Absolutely lovely ... The location is perfect, especially in the summer (warmer) month !
Review 77:Not the best airflow in the room.
Review 78:View is stunning, hotel team are helpful and nice. Football and tennis court is a plus for family with young kids
Review 79:Should improve the restaurant with more addition of fresh seafood
Review 80:Service and location
Review 81:Nothing
Review 82:everything
Review 83:Great location and beautiful scenery. Fantastic service, very nice people
Review 84:Everything was really good, super friendly staff, very clean great view...
Review 85:The food
Review 86:Perfect location
Review 87:poor breakfast, wi-fi working only in the reception.
Review 88:nice sea views, friendly staff, privacy because of separate bungalows.
Review 89:- volledig vernieuwde, moderne en slim ingerichte kamers/hutten. - uitstekende ligging
