Reviews for Hotel Riviera

Review 1:Very dated hotel without many amenities- the Internet was poor and they didn't have any irons to lend out. No shower screen in the shower so if you didn't want to flood the bathroom you had to sit in the bath. Very dated hotel that could do with total renovation

Review 2:Staff were amazing and location was great

Review 3:The breakfast could offer more variety (there was only white bread). Because of the heat (we travelled in the end of September, but it was still around 24-25 degrees), we had to keep the window open. However, the hotel is located next to a very noisy street and it was hard to sleep.

Review 4:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was nice and clean.

Review 5:The shower was a bit difficult to manage. It was low and sprayed a lot of water on the floor, but still usable and had a tub if people prefer that

Review 6:View was right on the water. The junior suite was very spacious. Nice breakfast available.

Review 7:The location can only be described as fabulous. We upgraded to a sea view after initially booking a 'partial sea view' room. We were so pleased we had. Just wished we'd done it sooner so we could have had a balcony. We definitely want to return. Thank you so much to the owners and staff.

Review 8:It's a very basic hotel and nothing special. Do not be misled by 'a room with a limited sea view'. You have to have a long neck and peek out of the window to see the sea.

Review 9:The location is great and the staff are very helpful and nice.

Review 10:'Shower- power' let quality of the room down. You need good showers in that part of Italy when it is so hot.

Review 11:Central location Lorenzo, [Asst Manager?] was first rate - interested, knowledgeable and helpful

Review 12:Wonderful stay - felt like we were staying amongst friends. Very happy to have stayed here. Great location - one couple went to portofino , the other to cinque terre. Easy .

Review 13:I liked everything. No complaints.

Review 14:The location was right in the center of town and on the water. Owners were very helpful and the restaurant attached to the hotel lobby was great too.

Review 15:All the nicer beaches are private leaving few public areas which are rocky and dangerous getting into the sea. No tea and coffee facilities in the hotel room.

Review 16:Being centralised to all amenities. Found Rapallo a very clean place with loads of lovely restaurants. Lovely warm climate. Nice friendly and clean hotel.

Review 17:Room was excellent with sea view and friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. When we return to this area we will choose this hotel again for our stay.

Review 18:The bed was a little bit hard.

Review 19:The staff was really friendliness and the chef of the house gave us nice recommendations about what to do around Rapallo. We went on a trip with the boat to neighboring towns of Santa Margherita Ligure, beautiful and famous Portofino as well as the tiny place of San Fruttuoso, which is also cute. The house is kept in good shape and we had a big comfortable room for the three of us with two different separate bed rooms and a specious bathroom with shower. There is a nice big roof terrace that we could access from one of the bed rooms; gives a nice view towards the sea :)

Review 20:The safe was not attached to the closet. The bathroom has a tub, no shower attached to the wall, that makes it for a bit of an uncomfortable shower.

Review 21:Great location, large room with king size bed, a large closet and desk, friendly staff, nice breakfast. The hotel's restaurant is amazing for dinner. A great place to stay.

Review 22:Hotel took 12 euros for private parking per day and it was only in front of the hotel! The sink in the bathroom was broken and they didn't fix it on our stay.

Review 23:Location was nice.

Review 24:Perfetto! Excellent location just few steps to Lungomare. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with side see view. The breakfast was ok. Free parking was available near by (200 meters from hotel). Very good value for money we paid.

Review 25:Not secure and undercover parking.

Review 26:Location to sea, Portofino and Highway. Good Italian breakfast. Beautiful views. Modern and fresh bed- and bathroom. Lift - convenient for heavy luggage.

Review 27:Everything else is soo 80th-) And noise from the street. The hotel faces street first and the sea second.

Review 28:Restaurant. Location - not far from the sea. Marina with yachts is just 5 min walk away.

Review 29:The hotel has 2 parking places, but there is a bigger parking park in front of the hotel, where it is a bit easier to park, because there are more places and it is the same price. We couldn't use our kettle, and hairdryer, because there are not the same plugs. It works for the chargers.

Review 30:Location was perfect. It is in the heart of the city, in front of the see, 5 min. walk to the train station. We had a room with see view and it was a good decision.

Review 31:Breakfast only continental and being in the centre of town a little noisy.

Review 32:Staff are polite and attentive. Rooms are comfortable. It's in an excellent location for the town.

Review 33:Very slow WiFi

Review 34:Very happy to see that this hotel was right on the seafront, with an outdoor terrace for drinks and breakfast. Bed very comfortable, quiet and spacious room and public areas, helpful staff and easy parking. Would definitely return.

Review 35:Did not like our room at all, very small room and really oldish. Breakfast is only until 10 am. Wifi is very poor, almost no connection at all.

Review 36:It is run by a very nice family. The hotel is very close to everything (shops, beach, etc.).

Review 37:No free Wifi Beds very hard (although this seems normal in Europe) Nocoffee facilities in the room

Review 38:Staff were very friendly Central location Beautiful views Large roomsGood advise from reception Brilliant boat trip to Portofino Wide rangeof good quality restaurants Easy parking even in August Lovely breakfast

Review 39:Perfect Location.Duble room very large and comfortable. Aile için iki odakı daire şahane.Rapollo çok şirin bir sayfiye ve Santa Margeritha ve Portofino'ya çok yakın ve çok daha uygun fiyatlı

Review 40:Nothing I didn't like.

Review 41:Amazing stay. The staff were friendly and super helpful. Clean rooms, sheets and bathroom. Breakfast is better than some neighbour hotels. We loved the place and will stay again any day!

Review 42:The wifi connection was weak. It only seemed to work on the balcony.

Review 43:The perfect location in Rapallo! The staff was most cordial, and the food in the restauranr was excellent. It turned out that we had booked to stay there during the last day of the town's major celebration, and we could see the procession throught the streets of the twon and the amazing fireworks right from our balcony. Amazing!

Review 44:I think the beds could be more comfortable - but not to prevent me from returning - I like it very much

Review 45:Our room was on the first floor - 1 apartment with 2 rooms and we also got a great balcony, which eveyonw enjoyed. The location is excellent and breakfast was great too. The family was helpful on a situario we had there. Excellent choice.

Review 46:Great Room Great Location

Review 47:Bathroom could be improved. Brekfast is not at the height of the stars the hotel has.

Review 48:Great bed. Nice view.Friendly personnel.

Review 49:Great location Nothing special about Hotel, Staff or Amenities

Review 50:Beautiful rooms on top floor

Review 51:Old furniture in the rooms, wifi not working in the room, noisy traffic.

Review 52:Located close to the city center, with a nice view to the sea side.

Review 53:The hotel it was made a long years ago... The personal the same..but very kind. The turist the same... I'm back to time.

Review 54:Noisy and air conditioning not working enought and no tea and coffee facilities in the room

Review 55:Comfortable location in the centre

Review 56:Room was not so luxury, as they try to present hotel on photos...

Review 57:Location, Rapallo is very nice place. Good bed, breakfast was OK

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:Lovely place to visit

Review 60:Noisy road and woken early by road cleaners...difficult car parking.

Review 61:Central location...great view of the sea front...great rooms...superb breakfast.

Review 62:Tricky to find

Review 63:Homely feel Friendly staff Great views Food home quality Italian

Review 64:Traffic noise at night

Review 65:Friendly staff, nice breakfast, good wifi

Review 66:Everything

Review 67:The friendliness of the staff, the comfort and its location - perfect!

Review 68:Less parkingplace

Review 69:Noisy road - if you're used to silence!

Review 70:Great location, comfortable beds, friendly staff.

Review 71:Poor breakfast, owner is not so friendly. During the breakfast staff withdrew the bread and food.

Review 72:Localization and bed confort.

Review 73:Good location, staff friendly and helpful.

Review 74:Restaurant

Review 75:Great location.

Review 76:This was a beautiful hotel and we enjoyed our stay. We were five adults (family). They were very helpful with directions and we enjoyed breakfast.

Review 77:Wi-fi doesn't work properly in the rooms, the hotel doesn't worth the price, breakfast is very poor

Review 78:Location

Review 79:Very clean hotel. Staff were very polite and helpful. We loved the location

Review 80:Hotel was excellently positioned close to the bay and transport links. The patron and staff could not have been more helpful.

Review 81:Excellent location

Review 82:The staff were friendly and helpful, especially as we did not speak Italian. The location was great, walking distance from the train station and just across the road from the beach.

Review 83:Shower in bathroom is 4' high. I'm 6'3"

Review 84:Location Great center for Portofino, Cinque Terre, Genoa. All easily reached by bus/train. Breakfast,WiFi included.

Review 85:Breakfast was average but room was great.

Review 86:We had a fantastic view of the bay with two balconies off the bedroom & even one off the bathroom. Room was large and good value for money. Lovely area to explore.

Review 87:We were given helpful tips on fun nature walks in the Portofino Nationale Parco by the staff, maps and happy Italian lessons and general cheerful manner by all staff.

Review 88:Restaurant too expensive.

Review 89:The hotel was in an excellent position on the seafront with a friendly and helpful staff. Clean but basic rooms, could have done with tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. Some moped noise at night but minimal if you close the windows and put air con on, also no insect bites then!

Review 90:Add little variety to the breakfast and the hotel could be easily a solid 4-stars.

Review 91:A solid hotel, very good value for money. Location - superb; interior design - nothing fancy but solid, spacious rooms, wooden floor, etc. View from seaside window - spectacular.

Review 92:Internet was not working properly which was a problem as my husbandrequired it for business purposes. The restaurant was a littledisappointing and expensive.

Review 93:Great location. Close to harbour

Review 94:- Having the full amount deducted from my credit card when i booked, 2 months prior to arrival - Free WiFi was for one device only and for 6 hours only - then you pay. Fortunately we found a cafe with free wifi - The traffic noise unbearable - hot, no air conditioning and too noisy to open window

Review 95:Not Much

Review 96:Breakfast was good but not great.

Review 97:Great hotel and excellent value for money, especially the junior suites with sensational view of the harbour and balcony. Great restaurant downstairs. Great access to Portofino and Cinque Terre at about half the room rates of those places.

Review 98:We found Hotel Riviera the perfect place to rest and enjoy our short stay in Rapallo. Perfect location, elegant and comfortable interior and room. The hotel is quiet and clean, and the staff was very helpful.

Review 99:Much older crowds in the vicinity so best for a more relaxing holiday.

Review 100:Great location and had a wonderful stay. Train nearby so as to travel to other parts of the Riviera. Staff very helpful and friendly. Wonderful restaurants nearby. Very happy with the stay

Review 101:- Parking is quite difficult but we had some luck and found one directly in front of the hotel- Sea View (sidewards) means that you have to open the window and lean yourself out of it to see the sea :)))

Review 102:- We were travelling with two bikes on our car and the guys from the hotel adivsed us to leave them in the hotel. So they put them into the lobby to ensure that nothings happens - thank you!- Breakfast is quite good - of course, it´s not a huge hotel but for a good start into the day sufficient.

Review 103:The first thing that you feel when you arrive is so welcome. The hotel was decked out with Christmas decorations and the whole place looked really tasteful. The room was comfortable clean and everything was beautifull laid out. Claudio the owner is very friendly and so helpful. This hotel desrves 10 and we will definitely be going again!

Review 104:That we could not stay longer.

Review 105:This is a 3 star hotel with 5 star service and a 9 star location. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels but value for money thisbeats them all.

Review 106:Location was great for moving around the region ( easy walk to trains and buses). The staff and owner were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The restaurant at the hotel was an added bonus where we enjoyed two delicious meals! The hotel was clean and an enjoyable place to spend four nights!

Review 107:Where do I begin - the owner, Mr. Gambero, was crooked. When we checked in, he tried to give us a lesser room saying it was all that was open. When I showed him my confirmation, he gave us the type of room we had requested. Our second day there, we had no hot water in the morning. It had been turned off. Every day we were there, we told him the A/C was not working. He kept telling us it would be fine later. On our last day, when my husband asked him to come to our room to show him, Mr. Gambero said to go and check it again - that it was working. As soon as my husband turned to go to the room, Mr. Gambero went and flipped a switch to turn on the A/C. My friend and I both saw him do it. He had deliberately had it turned off to save money. The breakfast (provided with the room) was minimal, and they actually charged extra if you wanted eggs. Then as a final slap, when we checked in we were told by Mr. Gambero that the public parking across the street was 12 Euros per day, but that he had two spaces for 5 Euros. We parked in his space. When we checked out, he charged 12 Euros per day and he denied telling us otherwise. I would avoid this hotel at all costs.

Review 108:Central location in a busy town means it's not quiet - can't have everything.

Review 109:The staff were very friendly and helpful, a well run family business. Very central for all Riviera activities, ie Cinque Terre Walks and also Portofino park area.

Review 110:1) Not informed you had to ask to have air-conditioning "turned on" - had to call desk as manual setting did not work; they have to turn it on for the room. 2) Air conditioning shut down (even tho asked to have it on) when called desk @ 230am, was informed "it was broken" (hmmm!!) 3) Bathing: tub w/ hand-shower & no glass partician to retain water spray as such water every where! And very low so difficult to hold hand shower head shampoo/ rinse hair. 4) no hot water in morning to shower - minimally luke-warm (therefore very quick shower) and had to use liquid soap to make it easier to rinse. 5) Very noisey- shudders open for air but can hear everything; plus no screens - thus bugs (mosquitos) do enter (scratch/ scratch!!)

Review 111:Good location is 1+ block away from bay-sidewalk & many restaraunts.Good size room w/ terrazzo flooring. Helpful w/ parking but it is verylimited locally. Comfortable bed. Did not eat at restaraunt - minimalpeople there at dinner ?? quality. Would not recommend hotel.

Review 112:If you come on a saturday, as we did, be aware that it will be dificult to find parking.

Review 113:We liked the location i the center of the town. The room had enough space for two adults and two children. The staff and hosts were warm and pleasent. The reastaurant had superb food and wine. To bad we wasted two nights in the restaurant a long the seaside.

Review 114:Wrong information about the sea view: room with"partial sea view " hasno sea view. Wifi doesn't work in the rooms and the big tall guy at thereception oblige you to pay for it! The day shift big tall man at thereception: very bad temper and not welcoming at all, not to say more....Very poor breakfast

Review 115:Rude employees. Did not operate lounge during our stay. It was closedand you had to sit in the restaurant to have a cocktail so we had to goto another hotel to have cocktails.

Review 116:Location and view.

Review 117:As I said previously the views from the Riveria are lovely and it is very well placed for those, however, it is situated at a very busy junction with constant traffic from as early as 7am to after 8pm at nigfht. As you would obviously want to have the balcony doors open most of the time to appreciate the views & for air, you then need to put up with the racket from the hundreds (and I do mean HUNDREDS!) of mopeds that pass in front of the hotel on there way to gawd knows where! This totally spoiled our appreciation of the views. The town councils really need to address this as there are back roads that can be used instead and it really spoils the ambience of the seafront. On speaking to the owner he said that there was a new Mayor & they were hoping that he would bring something into place to prevent them coming down the front road. Have to say that unless this was done I would not be returning to the Riviera or any other seafront hotel in Rapallo. Far too noisy for me.

Review 118:Lovely hotel with very bright room tastefully decorated. There is a fridge in the room which was very much appreciated. We didn't need to use the air con as weather pretty mixed while we were there in early June, we just had windows open. The family who own the hotel were all very pleasant & very helpful in finding space for car parking and advising on other areas to visit close by & how to get there by train or bus etc. We were looking for free parking if possible so left our car keys with the owners who moved the car about and in the end we were only charged for 4 days parking out of 8 so were happy enough with that. The views from the hotel are beautiful and Rapallo is very well situated for visiting Porofino and Camogli both of which are very picturesque.

Review 119:We liked everything, maybe a cappuciono and a pastry included in theprice would be nice, but that is no problem at all. We loved it

Review 120:Excelent Hotel Very confortable and close to everything. Owner andStaff very friendly and helpfull. We are planning to go back and hopeit is soon!

Review 121:There was nothing that I did not like - only comment, is that I wouldhave preferred a shower cubicle to a bath.

Review 122:Loved the Hotel, location was ideal for our needs. The staff were verynice and extremely helpful. Would book it again.

Review 123:The WiFi was quite unreliable

Review 124:Great location and a easy hotel from which to base ourselves. The rooms a very simple but fine for a short stay.
