Reviews for Bedouin Expedition Camp
Review 1:Without wood, long winter evenings can become very cold. Without water cleaning can become an issue. The toilet facilities were not in good condition.
Review 2:good location good food good price nice staff
Review 3:Staff was super friendly and helpful, the camp is located in wonderful area with amazing view, food was good and the overall experience was excellent.
Review 4:Toilets could have been cleaner...
Review 5:Staff is incredibly helpful and they really want you to learn about the Bedouin culture. Make sure you take the bed out and watch the beautiful starry sky at night!
Review 6:We didn't understand how the price and jeep tour worked at first, but in the end it all worked out fine. They package the jeep ride/ tour, food and lodging all together as you arrive. Try to get this clear before you arrive if you can. And try and get the your the next morning if you can, it worked out better for us that way.
Review 7:The dinner, breakfast and tour were all excellent value for the price. The location of the tents was also perfect, deep in Wadi Rum. Mohammed, our guide was really kind, good knowledge. It turned out to be a. Dry memorable and fun trip
Review 8:The camp provided transfer to/fro Rum Village. Although it was low season, the camp owner didn't charge us extra and was open to negotiation on the combo tour. We had the camp all to ourselves (just me and my mate) but felt very safe throughout our stay. Highly recommended stay!
Review 9:Other camps were visible which makes the place less authentic. Staff seemed hardly interested. Entertainment was literally just 1 minute of violin tuneup and then another minute of violin play. Don't expect much from about this camp.
Review 10:The actual surrounding was good surrounded by mountains.
Review 11:Nothing big, it's the desert, so you should be realistic in your expectations. One night, when it was a bit busier (20 people), we didn't have hot water.
Review 12:Location is amazing! Perfect place to watch the sunset. The diner was really tasty, and it's nice to see their traditional way of cooking it. The people are really friendly and want to share their culture with you, so you can definitely experience the bedouin way of life. It's a permanent camp, so they have a sanitary building, it's even tiled and they have electricity in their tents.
Review 13:The showers were a bit scary at night, as several of the lightbulbs were out. We were also a little disappointed that our jeep tour was in an enclosed vehicle rather than an open-air one, and that our tour guide didn't tell us much history about the sites we visited. Other than that, things were great!
Review 14:We had a wonderful time at the Bedouin Expedition Camp! Eghab arranged for us to be picked up at the Village Entrance, where we then left our car and hopped into the open-air truck for our long ride into the middle of nowhere. During our drive to the camp, we were astounded by the vast desert and rocky landscape, and the roaming desert camels! Everyone, staff and guests, was kind and welcoming at the camp. We enjoyed watching the sun set behind the rocks, and then eating a deliciously cooked Bedouin dinner. After dinner, we all sat around the fire and Eghab talked to us about life in Jordan. When he left us his father, Zidane, came and continued the evening with us. While the tents were comfortable, we asked Zidane if we could sleep under the stars, to which he responded that that was his favorite place to sleep. So we pulled out mattresses and blankets and slept under a sky of a million stars. The breakfast the next morning was delicious, and we ended our Bedouin experience with an enjoyable jeep tour and camel ride. Wonderful camp. Highly recommended.
Review 15:Bed sheets didn't seem to be clean, blankets are dirty, so bring bed sheets with u !
Review 16:Amazing view and location , definitely something worth doing, delicious dinner. Shower and toilet are good
Review 17:the package includes 3 meals, camel riding, jeep safari and a night stay in camp. more than worth the money. staff is warm and efficient. the lunch box is a surprise coz it turn out to be a picnic at the depth of a desert. so cool. the traditional dinner is one of the best of our whole journey.
Review 18:The Bedouin experience was amazing: the alluring desert and stone formations, the beautiful starry sky, and the cultural dining and camping experience. Eghab and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We booked the jeep and camel rides upon arrival without a problem and when we forgot to book a cab, Eghab helped us get to our next destination. A highly recommended way to fully experience Wadi Rum.
Review 19:We had a wonderful time! The staff were very attentive and made us feel so welcome. Our tent was well kept and very clean. We enjoyed spending time in the main tent as well. The dinner and breakfast included were great. At night we had a wonderful time lying outside watching the stars. I have traveled all over the world and consider this one of the most, if not the most, beautiful places in the world. Everything was great and I highly recommend everyone book here! As two single young women we really appreciated how comfortable we felt staying here.
Review 20:Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice views.
Review 21:The Best host ever :-) Thank you very much for every think :-) we will Come back. Great jeep desery trip definitly recomended :-) Szukre.
Review 22:The staff are probably the nicest people I have ever met ! Went out their way to make me happy. Going that extra mile makes a huge difference !
Review 23:Great experience in the desert, camel and jeep ride, very confortable tents.
Review 24:Pillows, quilts, sheets, all too dirty, even disgusting, can not sleep, the tents can be small, the bed can be hard, but please keep them clean. We are not complaining about the sand, we complaining about cleannessand disorder.Your team are very kind and nice! The tour provides a driver but not a guide. When we arrived at the camp, we had to wait 3-4 hours for our private tent. So, after long ride in the desert, we did not have own private corner where you could have a rest. And we must to sit in big family tent... with other travelers and kittens that are running everywhere..
Review 25:The Desert is perfect place, the camp is in the excellent location forsunset and sunrise. The dinner experience was nice. It was really easy to meet other travelers. Kind and friendly staff. That's it, everything else could be cleaner and more organized.
Review 26:Pillows, quilts, sheets, all too dirty, even disgusting, can not sleep, the tents can be small, the bed can be hard, but please keep them clean.
Review 27:Good location!Wonderful sunset, Nice staff,Delicious food,Amazing jeep tour,Cheap price.
Review 28:Extremely friendly people, desert, mountains. Great food, journeys with Jeep, journeys with camels e.t.c. Best place on the world to have Birthday party!!! Words on sand “Happy Birthday” I and Antra will remember forever!!!
Review 29:The behavior of the manager in the place was very bad. When I arrived it felt like he was angry that I had come. When I asked to join a jeep tour with one of the groups there he was angry at me because he wanted me to pay on a whole tour by my self even though the groups didn't mind that I'll join them.
Review 30:Eghab and his team were very welcoming, arranging both a jeep tour and camel ride at short notice. We enjoyed the Bedouin experience, gaining an insight into their culture, traditions and way of life.
Review 31:Apparently this is Bedouin Meditation camp now...or the two have merged. I don't really understand, and no one seemed to explain what was going on (from the bus the drop you off at wadi rum village, and you sit there waiting with no explanation and then they get you all in a jeep...) I loved my time there, but it did not meet my expectations. Also, all those activities (camel rides etc) are available from the wadi rum village, not this camp and they only do one trip into the village in the morning. Overall, it seemed geared to people doing one night (Not the two I did).
Review 32:The organized a bus to pick me up from my hotel in Wadi Musa. Nice staff, good traditional food. Wadi Rum is AWESOME.
Review 33:If there was Sisha or some Arabic music after the dinner, the desert experience would be much better. Be careful about the whether. Check before deciding which day you go to Wadi Rum. We were so unlucky that the day we stayed in Wadi Rum was rainy, cloudy: so we could not see the stars.
Review 34:The staff was so friendly and easy to talk to because of their good English and friendy attitude. The prices are good. One of the campers who has been in Wadi Rum for a year told us during our stay that this camp is known to be one the eldest and best camp in Wadi Rum. Tents were comfortable, toilets were not so clean but the expectations should be managed in this type of accommodations. The dinner was good. The tours in the dessert can be shared with other tourists, so it gets cheaper and funnier.
Review 35:It was cold (4 degrees) in December so make sure you bring you bring enough warm clothes.
Review 36:Beautiful landscape. Nice location. Staff was very warm and friendly. Clean site and tents. Earth oven. Our camp had 20-30 people only.
Review 37:No information given after being transported to the camp . I felt as a solo traveler, I did not interest the staff. It was my last day after 12 days of drive as a solo woman traveler around Jordan, not much money left hence I declined the 67 jod jeep drive .. About 80 Italians arrived before sunset, asked twice for my tent, being brushed off twice and told to wait inside the main tent....waited for over 2 hours by temps close to zero surrounded by the 80 Italians , one Canadian couple, one solo Japanese , and 3 Asian men.... By the way , thought I had booked Bedouin expeditation camp but locals share the business and I was in meditation Bedouin camp.....well apparently, they all pretty standard ..
Review 38:The location Amazing view Best stargazing view
Review 39:The tents may be small, dusty and hot but hey, you're in the desert! :) What makes this place worth going to is brilliant people and amazing experience of Wadi Rum thanks to Zedane, Eghab and Muhammad! The camp has all the necessary facilities and the location is beautiful for both sunset and sunrise. And just wait for the stars and you'd rather sleep outside :) Taking a jeep tour is the best way to see Wadi Rum as the distances between places of interest are big. If you already have a plan in mind like we did, speak to the owners and you'll get good advice. Other than that just chill, drink amazing Bedouin tea, enjoy fabulous dinner cooked in a traditional way and all the surroundings... Time goes differently at Wadi Rum and you can really connect to the elements
Review 40:The tour provides a driver but not a guide. Bring a guidebook to explain the sites in more detail to fully appreciate them. There was plenty of food but none of it blew us away. Lunch is cheap but very bare bones so bring granola bars. There is also no hot water for the showers and bring your own towel (but it's a camping site and the shower was not gross like everyone complained about). The bathroom stalls are a bit dark.
Review 41:Agab. The main guy. Is the best. We didn't have enough cash on us to pay for the night (there are no ATMs at Wadi Rum Visitor Center/Village) and Agab went out of his way to find a solution for us to pay when we made it back to Petra. He never made us feel bad about it and was extremely hospitable. The tent was far from all the other camps so you could really experience the incredible surroundings. We didn't do this but he allowed other people to bring mattresses out on the sand and sleep under the stars. The dinner experience was nice and it was really easy to meet other travelers. The tents were warm and supplied with plenty of blankets. Don't forget to bring a headlamp. His tour was fine and we had a great time.
Review 42:Like everything here! We chose the one day "jeep+camel riding + 3 meals" tour, and stay in the camp during the night. In daytime, they brought us to several interesting places in desert, you can climb up some of the hills if you want. The camp toilet is a surprise, the natual rock was built into its wall. It has several water closets and 3 shower rooms. Food here are cooked in Bedouin way, we had chicken, vegetable salad, roast potatoes, roast onions, cheese, bread, black tea, etc. I swear you would like the food here! It was the best chicken I have ever had.
Review 43:Bedouin Expedition Camp was a real highlight of our trip to Jordan. Theexperience that Eghab and his family gave to us was one that will staywith me for the rest of my life. Eghab was incredibly open, friendly andI learnt a lot from him about the Bedouin way of life. He really madethe stay so memorable. The camp was very comfortable but as expected itsfacilities were basic (if you are expecting luxury go to the dead sea.)Wadi Rum is a truly mesmorising place and to experience it at its bestget in touch with Eghab at Bedouin Expedition, you won't bedissapointed.
Review 44:- Interesting and friendly hosts (you could talk hours to them) - Great Bedouin dinner - Possibility of sleeping under the stars I would also recommend the 1-day camel+jeep tour around Wadi Rum that they run alongside the camp. Great value for money.
Review 45:Was a little random meeting up, and it will be great when the main bathroom is finished and updated (which it probably is by now)
Review 46:Great location, great staff, definitely worth the trip!
Review 47:When we arrived at Rum Village with the owner he then disappeared and wehad to wait at least 1/2 hour at his "house" while adriver came to bring us to the camp. We were afraid we would miss sunsetso asked them to hurry a bit. Then we arrived at the camp and no onegreeted us or said a thing. All our stuff was piled there and we askedabout which tent was ours and the kid who drove us said it was not readyyet!!? It was 7pm and we had a reservation! So we watched sunset andthen got into our big family tent with the kids in the almost totaldarkness. The tent was not very clean and previous guest's rubbish, bottles, papers, etc. was still around. There is no way they clean thebedding which is used repeatedly by campers so bring a sleeping bag orsleep-sheet if possible. It is just refolded and stuck on the cots.Kittens were running in and out of the tent. We like kittens sodidn't mind too much but they startled us. I had done lots ofresearch on the different camps around and expected better conditionsbased on the very recent 'excellent' reviews. There was no musicwhich it seems all the camps have. That was very disappointing. Also, there was lots of construction around and guys working after 10pm makinglots of noise. Breakfast is too basic. There was only pita, tea and somebeans and jam. One needs something more substantial before heading outinto the desert heat for hours on end. Even some boiled eggs would havebeen great. And there was only one flush toilet [no paper] and 2 floor-toilets which is not a lot when there were at least 15-20 guests there. They were pretty stinky. We didn't even look at the showers as wewere headed to the beach afterwards. I was really excited for thisadventure and just wish is was a little cleaner and more organized.Luckily the kids enjoyed it. We definitely recommend Wadi Rum but youmay want to look for a different camp.
Review 48:When we arrived at Rum Village we immediately were greeted by someonewho called Bedouin Ex for us so we didn't have to wonder where to goor who to find. The camp area in Wadi Rum is beautiful and quitesecluded. It took at least 20 minutes from the Rum Village to get there. Some of the guys were very nice and helped my kids build a bon-fire.There are no real rules so there is lots of freedom for everyone towander and enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the desert. We alsoenjoyed the dinner, while very basic, was cooked underground. We wishedthere was some fruit or something else besides tea to add to the meal.We were happy we brought our own wine and snacks. My husband and kidsslept under the stars so they loved that and awoke to camels besidesthere beds.
Review 49:Toilets were a bit shabby.
Review 50:The hospitalityof our hosts! Really felt welcome and were included in discussions after a wonderful dinner. The 4X4 tour was great. Wadi Rum is a must see. The tents were comfortable and it was nice to live without electricity even for only one day.
Review 51:Nothing. You need to be able to embrace camping
Review 52:The camp was fantastic. Great location in the middle of the desert . Food was great and they can organise camel rides, jeep safari and lots more. Great value for money
Review 53:Very considered, humorous and helpful people. They offer what they promise: A great trip around Wadi Rum and an awesome stay in the desert. Plus kudos for the driver who drove extra careful for my girlfriend who has some back issues.
Review 54:I expected basic facilities but wasn't prepared for how dirty someof them were. Toilets were badly soiled below the water line and therewere two cigarette butts in the very dirty shower block sink for morethan 24 hours. The shower block floors were covered with a thick layerof sand. I know its in the desert but it doesn't take much to keepthe facilities reasonably clean. Three of the showers were either brokenor unusable - basic maintenance was clearly lacking. The only beddingprovided was a cushion, blanket to sleep on and a duvet type cover -there were no sheets or pillow cases and it was obvious that otherpeople had previously slept in what was provided. Trips were fine butthese were provided by off site specialists so don't form part ofthis review.
Review 55:Great location in the heart of Wadi Rum. Food was plentiful and therewas a nice friendly atmosphere in the main communal tent.
Review 56:trying very hard to think, but none !
Review 57:excellent services,Great food, good price, the owner and staff are very kind and helpful, location good too,it located at a stuning beautiful area of the park. we enjoy our stay very much... they are the real great Bedouin people...will stay with them again.
Review 58:It's a tent, so the comfort of the beds might be unusual - you have to get used to it :-) We didn't knew the price of the barbecue, so it was 10 JD per person, it would be better if they would have spoken more with their guests.(in general!) We did our trip in the desert self-organised, so they were a little bit unhappy, it seemed... We didn't knew where to pay, and how is responsible for what, till the end. In the end everything was very fine.
Review 59:Barbecue at night was very special - they have an excellent chef! Same at breakfast. The view was very good, by sunset and by sunrise! For that price (20JD 3 Persons, breakfast included) it was very good!
Review 60:The camp was very difficult to find, the booking.com instructions were insufficient, I needed to make an expensive phone call to get there. The shower facilities are too basic : no separation for men and women, and very very basic.
Review 61:The dinner and lunch were good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location in the desert makes this a unique experience. The Camel and Jeep excursions were very nice and we could do them at our own pace. The children loved it too !! Value for money is good, but off course you need to accept some disconfort.
Review 62:Nothing..
Review 63:It was a wonderful stay in Wadi Rum with the great people of Bedouin Expedition. Everybody is so kind, makes you feel like home, the food is very good, the place is awesome! Everything is done to make you spend a very special moment. Thanks a lot to everybody. It was perfect.
Review 64:Everything is perfect, especially the bedouin food is very delicious and the staff is very nice to arrange the jeep tour and camel tour. The jeep tour is great, valued to try.
Review 65:There were no lights or candles in the tents. I had a flashlight and aheadlamp so no worries for myself, but I can imagine a lot of peoplewon't have such things with them. I was also unclear on the showerfacilities.......signs would help.
Review 66:Staff were friendly and spoke decent English. Facilities werecomfortable enough, and the staff was accommodating. Views of the sunsetand sunrise from the rocks next to camp were stunning.
Review 67:The facilities at the camp are basic but as long as you are prepared they are fine. Bring a sleeping bag liner and torch and a warm fleece.
Review 68:The whole experience was amazing from the moment we arrived. The charming bedouin guide, excellent programme, camel riding, exploring, rock climbing, picnic lunch, stunning scenery and surroundings, convivial evening with fellow travellers, good food, wonderful sunset and fantastic star gazing. Our kids absolutely loved every minute and Mohammed our guide was brilliant with them.
Review 69:We booked accomodation for cca $10 per person, but after arrival we weretold we have to take a package - including accomodation, 3-hours tour inthe desert, transport to the camp, dinner and breakfast, altogether for35 jod per person ($50!). We were cornered a bit, as we were not offeredother options and it was not clear that if in case we would have chosena tour in the village (which were waaay cheaper) they would havetransported us to the camp anyway. They told us it was our fault becausewe didn't check their webpage, but I think I just booked anaccomodation (as well as in other 4 hotels in Jordan) and I simplydidn't have time to check the web sites of them. After they saw wewere hesitating, they lowered the price to 30 jod per person (180 jod intotal), which was still hugely overpriced, as standard prices for the3-hours desert trips were around 70 jod per jeep (and as mentioned, accomodationn for 6 people should be around $60). In the end they gaveus price 25 jod per person (150 jod in total), but they arrived withvery old car in a bad shape and gave us a tour of only 2 hours insteadof 3, so we felt pretty much ripped off. After checking out they also told us that they had cancelled our booking at booking.com, but I wasn't able to understand what was the reason (probably not to pay provision?). To warp it up, this camp is largely overrated and if you can avoid it, I really recommend you to do so. There is no big difference between services provided by this camp and other camps.
Review 70:Free transportation out to the camp only provided once a day after 3pm.
Review 71:The warm welcome from the staff. They catered to each individuals needs. Offered good advise about things to do in Wadi Rum. Good value for money. Couldn't do enough to help me when I injured my ankle. Great atmosphere at the camp.
Review 72:We arrived at 3:00 and dinner was not until 9:30 that evening because a big group arrived later so we were starving! It was good food in the end though
Review 73:Amazing location, great value, cool rooms
Review 74:First, the location is perfect, the campsite is in a remote part of Wadi Rum. The staff was very friendly, our tent was big enough. The breakfast (buffee) was nice. The dinner was very tasty. They offered a lot of tasty dishes including chicken cooked under the sand.
Review 75:Nothing, loved it! However would recommend bringing some of your own kit to make stay more comfortable: Sleeping bag/sheet. Wet wipes as hot water can be limited. Torch. A few extra snacks - good shop in Wadi Rum Head scarf or hat/sunscreen Cash - don't think there is an ATM nearby.
Review 76:Had a fantastic stay in Wadi Rum in a truely remote and beautiful part of the world. All the staff were friendly and helpful making our stay very relaxing and comfortable. Arranged 4x4 tour and camel ride at the camp easily and the team pick you up and drop you back to the village. Amazing full moon whilst we were there, but stars still bright. Fun evening camp fire and music, plus met some great fellow travellers. Recommend staying for at least 2 nights too really enjoy the remoteness and desert atmosphere.
Review 77:The simplicity of our host Eghab for one. It is very rare to meet such adown to earth person. He was very honest about what he was offering andmade no false promises. He went out of way to make our stay ascomfortable as possible.
Review 78:Nothing.
Review 79:Sadly did not allow enough time at Wadi Rum. Bedouin Expeditions were awesome. They offer full packages at very reasonable prices. Their location of their camp is fantastic. The sleeping tents are absolutely fine and dinner and breakfast is Bedouin style which is great.
Review 80:There were a few niggling things which could really improve the camp...IAsked about the shuttle 3 times before we left the uk - both in theoriginal booking and also via email but received no reply so when wearrived we weren't sure where to go/what to do/where topark. After speaking to the guys at the visitors' centre, we gotpicked up from Rum Village but the guy never confirmed anything becausehe didn't speak English and I'm not sure whether people need topay entry fees - they sort of forgot ours, I think. Then when we arrivedat the camp, that was kinda it. I was a bit confused as to what we weresupposed to be doing (it was 8pm and pitch black) and nobody showed usto our tent or anything. We went inside the main building and they did alovely tea and music session, but they appeared really offended when wesaid we'd eaten at Petra and didn't need the foil covered left-overs. Eventually, someone showed us to our tent but I would haveappreciated going there when we first arrived to freshen up and also itwould have been really nice just to have two flat sheets because our bedwas really, really sandy. The toilets are basic, as expected but a handtowel and some toilet paper would be lovely. Then in the morning we wereready by about 7.30 and took some photos, when we went into havebreakfast (which was bread and shop-bought jam) we were told everyonewas waiting for us in the truck so we never got it! Nobody told us theplans and we didn't realise checkout was so early. We then arrivedat a random building where apparently we were to wait for a bus to Petra- but we needed to go back to our car! The guys were nice, but it justfelt as if there was a serious lack of communication. They also asked usto leave a review - which always really, really annoys me! Anotherlittle improvement would be numbers on the tent - they all look the samewhen you arrive after dark!
Review 81:We did enjoy our stay and slept surprisingly well. The trip to the campwas almost better than our paid desert safari! The music around the firewas lovely and very atmospheric. The tea served was really sweet andjust how I like it. Amazing setting and, as always in the desert, thesky is incredibly beautiful...Tents are also really sturdy - it was verywindy when we stayed and they didn't move or shake at all. Alsoliked the price and the fact you can do this online - tours would chargea fortune for a similar experience!
Review 82:Thank you for tree wonderfull days in the dessert of Wadi-Rum, thank youfor the hospitalaty. Mister cook thank you for your lovely meals, thethea the hot water for the Wiener Melange coffee. Review 83:We spent 2 days in Wadi Rum at Bedouin Expedition, and had a fantastic time. Eghab and his brother Mohamed ensured we saw lots of the area and were well fed and cared for - all at a very reasonable price! Sabre the cook made delicious meals. I hadn't planned much ahead, but everything fell into place upon my arrival and I appreciated the flexibility. We enjoyed experiencing the best of the Bedouin hospitality!
Review 84:none!
Review 85:Absolutely love here, many thanks to Eghab and his brother! Dinner and lunch were really delicious, tour was very relaxing with a lot of interesting stories. If you really want to learn some bedouin culture and hope ur host can treat you as friend, this is definitely a perfect place to stay!

Review 87:Location was great, the truck day tour takes you you lots of places.Ahgab the owner is a good guy with a sense of humor. Food was very nice.
Review 88:A bit disorganized/chaotic at times - some people had a hard time figuring out what was going on. Other tour/camp operators in the village were trying to convince us to go with them.
Review 89:Beautiful scenery, friendly people, wonderful place to explore. Food was great and very veggie friendly. Great value!
Review 90:Staff ever so nice, definitely would recommend it
