Reviews for Hotel Centrale Byron
Review 1:None.
Review 2:Great hotel location at the center. Well layed-out taking into consideration the restrictions imposed by the fact that the building is old (historic). A great room for 3 people (two double beds). Good breakfast. Good price for the location and the quality (note: a bit off-season, end of October)
Review 3:The rooms are very small, so it is perhaps not a good choice if you want to spend a lot of time in them, working etc, and the bathroom is so tiny that it could be a problem for someone very large - although my son is 6'2" and said it was fine.
Review 4:Ideal location - I have stayed here a number of times. The owner and staff are extremely nice, friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and unpretentious, but perfectly adequate. The breakfast is nice, caters to all tastes and the breakfast room is pleasant.
Review 5:A bit run down, but it felt like old times, charming really.
Review 6:Excellent location in the town center, easy walk around the heritage sites. 10-15min walk to train station. Friendly service, good value for money
Review 7:We were able to walk to the places we most wanted to see in Ravenna, such as San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Gallia Placida and the church of St Apollinare Nuovo, and get a local bus to St Apollinare de Classe. The staff were friendly and provided helpful information.
Review 8:The location to Florence was within easy walking distance, there were plenty of good restaurants close by and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 9:As a solo traveller it makes a difference when staff are supportive, volunteer help and more than willing to answer questions. The staff at Hotel Centrale Byron did all of this for me and it was much appreciated.
Review 10:The room and bathroom is really small, and the wardrobe has been placed in a way that it is almost impossible to approach or put the clothes in it. I assume there are bigger rooms as well.
Review 11:Location cannot be more central, few steps from main square and all the main sights are within 10 mins walk. Staff is kind, breakfast is fine.
Review 12:The breakfast and breakfast staff was excellent. Although parking was not on site, we were able to park on street in special spots for a 2 euro donation vis-a-vi the hotel. 2 euros total for the 7 days. We never had to park further than 5 minutes walk away. Location was awesome; couldn't ask for a more central spot in relation to restaurants, shopping and, of course, Gelato...coffee shops, etc--it's all there! The bed was firm but we like firm mattresses. Only thing lacking was a fitness room. Marco at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Next year, we will be coming back to Ravenna for another 7 days, and we will definitely stay at the Centrale Byron.
Review 13:Excellent location. Most friendly and helpful staff on reception.Very good breakfast in choice and quantity. Parking safe place is near the hotel (13 eur /per night). We would like to stay at this hotel again in future. Thanks.
Review 14:The train rides could get long, hot, and often without air conditioning, which often became practically suffocating...You'd be best to try all the cars before deciding on where to sit....seriously.:)
Review 15:The view from my balcony window gave me an "insider's look" at the lives and activities of the Italians, minus the tourist hype and promos...it was an unforgettable experience to see them interacting with each other daily, and a great comparison between how they, and Americans, live their life stlye and treat each other in the process. Kudos to them, they are actually civilized and respectful of each other, regardless of race, color, gender or whatever.. it restored my faith in the true goodness of humanity, and the Christian ideals of loving your neighbor as you would yourself......A word to the wise if you're planning to visit...:)
Review 16:Small facilities ("tight space, especially in bathroom).
Review 17:Service & Attitude of staff (great! both the evening, night and day staff). Functionality (aircon providing what it should even during peak of hot period of year)
Review 18:Great location. All staff were very friendly and as helpful as they could possibly be. Very good breakfast in choice and quantity. Spotlessly clean. Room adequate size with comfortable bed and AC. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 19:Our only negative comment was that the pillows were very hard, but that is personal taste.
Review 20:The location could not have been better, and the parking, as well as being very cheap was very close. Staff were all very friendly. We would stay at this hotel again.
Review 21:Bed was a little on the hard side and the shower was extremely hard to turn around in (even for Italy!!!).
Review 22:Location was just perfect for exploring Ravenna. The breakfast was really lovely.
Review 23:Not good sound isolation (you hear your neighbors). And small bathroom (like in all hotel in center...)
Review 24:Very good location - almost in Piazza deal Poppolo, the heart of the city. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Staff is very nice
Review 25:Loud and unprofessional breakfast team, could do with some basic training.
Review 26:From here you can easily access all the major historical attractions containing unique works of art, very friendly and helpful reception staff. Excellent cappuccino.
Review 27:With the windows open, it was a trifle noisy since it was on a pedestrian street and we were there on a weekend.
Review 28:Location, staff and parking availability/cost were great. Very nice little hotel that is a great value. Room was comfortable if a trifle small but that was our choice.
Review 29:I really liked the hotel. The room was quite hot at night.
Review 30:An ideal location if you arrive by train or bus. This is a comfortable hotel for bed and breakfast, with good restaurants nearby. Central location for access by foot between viewing mosaics and shopping, and evenings out.
Review 31:Room was warm, and unit disliked cooling the room in November.
Review 32:Location, staff that assists with a smile, firm mattress, solid WiFi connection and an envelope when you need it. Someone at the top sends the right message.
Review 33:shower too small, no soap dish in shower, heat & AC hard to control, noise is an issue if you leave the window open
Review 34:location, friendly staff, generous breakfast
Review 35:Bedrooms fine bathrooms good, but baths and showers rather small
Review 36:Great location,in the centre, 10 mins. walk from railway station, all churches easily walked to. Great resteraunts and shopping on the doorstep.
Review 37:A shower curtain rather than a door which made the shower very small and consequently we kept knocking the shower controls.
Review 38:The staff were particularly courteous and helpful. The hotel is very well placed to explore the town. The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed our stay
Review 39:The breakfast waitress was replaced on one day by an unsmiling scolding woman who clearly did not enjoy her job.
Review 40:There was some confusion on arrival about a bathtub which was quickly sorted out. FYI a bath in the bathroom is a 'vasca da bagno'. The reception staff are helpful & the hotels map is very useful. The usual breakfast waitress is very friendly and is happy to make second cups of the very good cappuchinos. The younger reception staff are really helpful and seem to understand people on holiday want to see smiling faces & receive friendly greetings. The porter was very pleasant too.
Review 41:I had a double room for a single person which looked over a deep well between the buildings; it was rather dark and noise echoed up into the room. It would have made more sense for the bathroom door to be hung the other way as it opened against the room and was a bit of a nuisance.
Review 42:Wonderful location, right in the heart of things. Decent breakfast. Friendly staff.
Review 43:Although, not the hotel's fault, our room was at the back and overlooked a street with a very noisy late-night bar several doors away. Kept us awake till about 2 am.
Review 44:Very nice, comfortable quad room that was actually permanently set up for 4 people -- not just extra cots stuffed in a double room as we experienced in Venice. Fully renovated large bathroom. Lovely free breakfast in the hotel restaurant - many choices of meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurts, breads, etc. Staff friendly and helpful. Price was very good. Terrific gelato place across the street from the main entrance and lots of shops on the streets both front and back of the hotel. Perfectly centrally located for walking to the UNESCO sites.
Review 45:Great breakfast. Excellent location, near to all the sites; were able to go back to our room frequently in between visiting the different mosaic sites.
Review 46:Can't think of a thing
Review 47:Recently stayed at the Byron while in Ravenna to compete at a worldathletic competition. My team-mates and I found the staff to beincredibly friendly and helpful from the time the desk clerk (havinggiven us directions by phone to walk there) greeted us outside the frontdoor to the breakfast staff (Natasha in particular) teaching us Italian, keeping the wonderful coffee coming and baking meringues for us to takewhen we left Ravenna- all was great. Location was superb- walkingdistance to most sights in Ravenna. Rooms were clean, spacious (byEuropean standards) and quiet. Best gelato place right across the road.Breakfast was filling and a good variety of foods. Price was veryreasonable
Review 48:Use of long-life milk in coffee -- a bad habit in Italy and elsewhere inEurope but it meant I had to pay for my morning coffee in a cafe
Review 49:Location, room, breakfast buffet, staff
Review 50:The hotel was centrally located and you can walk easily to all the historic sites, restaurants, shops etc. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful about where to park the car. The hotel is well signposted as you drive in. The breakfasts had a good variety and supplies were constantly replenished. Our room had a balcony where we could sit and watch the evening promenade. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Review 51:Coffe was not the best for the breakfast.
Review 52:Just in the middle of the city. Couldnt be mo central. Staff aranged parking in the city in few minuttes. Breakfast was ok.
Review 53:Italian pillows are always too flat and too hard. The hallway to my room unremarkable.
Review 54:Location was excellent--easy to find from the train station. Reception was quick and courteous. Breakfast was exceptionally good, better than I had at more expensive hotels. Cappucino was perfect start to my day. As a single woman, I was teated well by staff, and felt safe in the hotel and in my room--which had a lovely street view.
Review 55:No dislikes.
Review 56:The hotel is located right in the heart of the city. It is an older facility, but everything is tip top: accommodations, staff, food. We loved it!
Review 57:Staff very friendly and helpful which made a weary traveller happy to have a warm welcome! Grazie Mille Marco! :) The location is perfect, it i right in the centre of the city and so close to everything. My room was facing a busy street below but I couldn't hear a thing as it's sound proof! A/C worked wonderfully! All round great stay and the Ravenna has so much history!
Review 58:Lacks character! But this is what I expected. The cheap option, especially for a solo traveller usually does lack any character. The room was clean, safe and functional. Exactly what you expect.
Review 59:Excellent central location. Room clean and functional. Air conditioning was greatly appreciated! Friendly staff. Good value room.
Review 60:Breakfast a little on the low side eg ran out of eggs
Review 61:Staff helpful. We unloaded outside the hotel, and then an assistant accompanied us to the car park behind San Vitale, and walked us back. Also helped with taking bags up to the room. Really well located beside central square; lots of places to eat
