Reviews for Art Hotel Color Aomori
Review 1:A slight walk from Aomori station, perhaps about 20 minutes on a heavy backpack and snowy ground.
Review 2:- Good service. We arrived early and was able to leave our luggages there while checking in at the same time. By the time we came back at night, our luggages were already in the room. Something which pleasantly surprised us! No hotel has done this before in our 3 weeks stay in Hokkaido. - Along the main street with a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. - Feels homely and cozy.
Review 3:The hotel is clean, friendly and a little artsy as the name implies. The buffet breakfast, included in the reasonable cost of the room, was amazing. I really appreciated how they included local Aomori ingredients and specialties, and everything was delicious. I also liked the free oden in the lobby at night.
Review 4:Pornographic material in the room(tv guide pamphlet--hotel knew my 9 year old child was a guest). No use for the tv.
Review 5:Peaceful and beautiful hotel, attentive staff, great location and affordable. Mini fridge in room, breakfast menu was delicious and room felt like home. Lots of places to go and see within walking distance. Small Daiso nearby!! For american-card users, there's a SevenEleven nearby with an ATM for yen!
Review 6:Limited English, but it is Aomori so..I guess that is normal.WiFi was not very stable. For the rest a good place to be at.
Review 7:The location is very good, about 5-10 min walking distance from the train station. It is clean and you have washing facilities and WiFi. All the touristy things are walking distance and a lot of supermarkets in the vicinity
Review 8:The location of the hotel is very accessible to all the hotspots and the Aomori Train station. We especially liked that the room is very cosy and comfortable ~ nice bed enough for us (a couple), a desk, hairdryer, all the bathing ammenties. It has all that we needed and the lobby has hot water, tea and a microwave where we used to heat up some food for our breakfast. The staff are all very friendly and kind!
Review 9:wi-fi that was allowed only in lobby.
Review 10:I like the service. Sometime they didn't help much, but they show their service mind that they try very much to help
Review 11:very strict in terms of check-in time. Not even 10 min early!
Review 12:room was clean. There was complimentary food and tea all day. Location was good but close to 10 min from the station.
Review 13:There was just too many staff and guests moving about in confined spaces. The lift is small and takes ages for one to make way up to the higher floors. Overall, the hotel room has a jaded feel - eg cracks in the bathroom.
Review 14:I suppose the price is attractive and given the space constraints, the staff has kept the rooms clean enough.
Review 15:- The room was even a little smaller than the average, but still OK. - The bathroom had the typical water tap which supplies water either to the sink or to the shower. But that's just a small detail. - If you use Google Maps to locate the hotel, it will lead you to the back door. The hotel should correct this on Maps. - If you keep on walking on the opposite direction to the train station, the street starts looking like a red-light district.
Review 16:- Located on a nice commercial main street, not far from the JR station and close to nice only-Japanese-speaking restaurants - Nice staff at the front desk. - Very nice price/quality relationship. - Tidy room, comfortable bed. Nice heating.
Review 17:Everything about this hotel was excellent! The room was clean and spacious; the beds were actually softer than previous nights at other hotels. The breakfast was awesome - great variety of items offered. It is a nice easy ten minute walk to the station. We would definitely stay at the hotel again!
Review 18:The front desk is on the 3rd floor and it was a bit of a pain to stop there and drop off the key when we left, so we just didn't. Oops.
Review 19:Just down the street from the station with lots of restaurants around. It was in the heart of the city but still quiet. They have a lan internet connection, but also have small wi-fi routers you can borrow.
Review 20:Aomori itself is a really boring city.
Review 21:It's cheap, clean and the rooms are quite up to date. Free parking. Central. If you for some reason can't avoid to stay the night in Aomori, spend your cash wisely at this hotel and you'll get good value.
Review 22:Just a few blocks away, 8-10mins walk to/from Aomori Station. Easy to remember, walk straight on the main road on the right side. Won't missed it.
Review 23:Can't control the room temperature, so it's rather hot!
Review 24:Clean, has everything needed, include wifi, centrally located and convenient. Great value for money.
Review 25:Very efficient. A small room but it had everything I could ask for and the staff were friendly as I checked in close to midnight. Everything was so simple, I wish it was always this wonderful and easy.
Review 26:The hotel starts from the 3rd floor. Because I came in from the back door, I had a sudden panic because it looked dingy.
Review 27:I love its location. It is located in the center of the city where you can find most of the attractions and good restaurants. Plenty of convenience stores to choose from and coffee shops.
Review 28:Breakfast wasn't great, but it was free so can't complain too much about that. Hotel seemed a bit unclean, as we got out of the elevator we had to manovour past the cleaners bags of trash (3pm). Carpets could use a good extraction clean
Review 29:6 min walk from the station, value for money for the 2 nights we stayed
Review 30:The hotel could use a little updating.
Review 31:The person at reception desk was very kind and accommodating. He helped me with getting to the Sannai ruins. The breakfast which was included with the room rate was really good. I was surprised since there's so much to choose.
Review 32:The bathroom was quite old and had some stains and mold. The only elevator can take a very long time when several people are trying to use it.
Review 33:Directly in Aomori's main shopping street and a 10 minute walk to JR Aomori station. Offers a very good Japanese style breakfast with regional products and a wide range of foods to choose from. Very good value for money.
Review 34:No complaints.
Review 35:Great location, just a short walk from the main JR station. The common areas are presented nicely. The rooms are standard business hotel rooms, no complaints. Staff speak good enough English too.
Review 36:I've got a smoking room, didn't like the smell
Review 37:Good Location, about 10 minutes from JR station. Super breakfast buffet included, with a lot of choices!
Review 38:Room and particularly the bath were tiny, not rely for two people, but that matched the price. No rely complaint, but customer should be aware.
Review 39:This was really inexpensive, yet had a very nice breakfast, surprising value for money. Not too far from station and mostly under arcades. Nothing much in town.
Review 40:- Location along the main street, next to a park and a shrine - Amazing breakfast selection with local juices, good seafood, and nice desserts - Fairly big room for the price - Nice decor - Free plasters
Review 41:Not overly soundproof, highlighting the unusual choice for a lot of cleaning noises and banging at 9am on a Sunday morning even though checkout wasn't until 10. The bedcovers did not reach beyond the end of the mattress; this is fine in summer but would be very cold in Winter, especially for tall people like myself where the cover wasn't long enough. Only one VERY slow lift.
Review 42:The location on Amenity street was appropriate, it was the main street in town so close to everything. Staff were lovely, the room was clean and fresh. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and am actually returning to this hotel on my way back to Tokyo.
Review 43:Easy to reach from the JR station, about 10 min walk. Comfortable room, clean and spacious. Breakfast was a mix of western with Japanese, and it was OK. Staff was very helpful (we needed to call to our next hotel to reserve an extra bed, and the guy from reception was very kind to call and talk to the hotel owner himself to help us out).
Review 44:Unfortunately, it seems that the air-con was not working well, it was quite stuffy in the evening and I woke up because of it. There were only a few buttons controlling the level of wind but the wind was hot...
Review 45:The hotel is on a main pedestrian way, 10 min by walking from the JR station, with several restaurants and convenient stores around. Staff were nice with smiles, they also had a map about where to eat. The room was small but well-equipped; to access wifi, please get a small router from the front desk.
Review 46:A little noisy at night from corridor noise as door not quite to floor but otherwise nothing.
Review 47:Very easy to find. Central location. Clean. Pleasant helpful staff. Excellent breakfast
Review 48:The hotel is fairly far away from the JR station. The entrance of the hotel is also quite shabby.
Review 49:The breakfast is good, with many locally made juices and drinks.
Review 50:Art Hotel Color is easily accessible from the Aomori Station by foot, guests basically just keep to the right side of 'Amenities Street' and go straight past a few traffic lights and you're there! It is also walking distance to a few tourist attractions, such as the famed fish market. Around the hotel, there are a lot of restaurants and bars - most of them serve up a local affair.
Review 51:Nice room kinda small but its ok They got Wifi for the guest just ask the reception becuase they giving you your own small router for your room. The reception knew english
Review 52:The bed was awful. Tiny, cramped against wall maybe 120-130 cm wide, but matress very uncomfortable and sagged at sides. Woke up very sore, both mornings. Gap under window allowed street noise in and breeze. Cheap but not worth the tiny bathroom and room and awful bed for couple. Perhaps other rooms better?
Review 53:it was central
Review 54:We accidentally booked a smoking room which wasn't great. Be clear about which type of room you are getting.
Review 55:Nice location about a 10 minute walk up the main street from the train station. Plenty of dinner options nearby. Skipped the breakfast buffet in favor of the fish market in the Auga building - excellent! Also, they gave us a wifi router for our room (no extra charge) so we had good internet. Simple, clean, and a good value.
Review 56:The room and in particular bathroom seemed small - even by Japanese business hotel standards. Price however compensated for this.
Review 57:Staff were very kind.
Review 58:The front entrance should be shown in directions, not the back ally entrance. Also, a smoking area or room should be made away from the entrance because we did not like walking through a lot of smoke. The bathrooms are too small and do not allow enough room for comfort.
Review 59:We enjoyed the free wi fi and the comfortable beds. The rooms had plenty of space and we felt comfortable. The reception was very helpful with everything including setting up the wi fi. The place was very modern and clean and well lit.
Review 60:-wifi needs to use the usb dongle(its actually a router). need to plug to LAN port(english manual misses this,or i misread the manual; but i figured out in the end) -nothing else
Review 61:+near to Aomori Stn (few minutes walk) n attractions at the bay. +near to Konbini +Staff speak english +self laundry area, and can borrow hangers +breakfast combo:variety of food to eat +clean room Recommended
Review 62:Nothing
Review 63:- Free WIFI router - Amenities & Facilities - Easy to access (just head straight from the station) - Nice super single bed - Alarm clock!
Review 64:There is nothing to complain about.
Review 65:The staff was very helpful and friendly. This hotel is directly in the middle of the Aomori shopping and restaurant district.
Review 66:Nothing! We didn't get the opportunity to enjoy Aomori; as were only there for one night each time, in transit to and from Hakkoda. Would love to visit again, this time for longer.
Review 67:Great location, excellent value, good breakfast, comfy bed, helpful staff.Definitely recommend this Hotel.
Review 68:I wrote in to say that I will be arriving late, and they could accommodate to that. It is very near to the station, and most of the attraction so it is very convenient
Review 69:Nothing to complain.
Review 70:Easy to arrive from the station. Room and bathroom are very small but it was not a problem for me since I was only looking for a cheap place to sleep and it totally worths it. The place is clean and non-smoking rooms do not smell tobacco.
Review 71:It's a little bit far from the train station, about 10-15 minutes, and that sucks if you have to drag your suitcase through ice and snow.
Review 72:The staff, even though they don't speak much English, understood everything and were very polite. The room was small but it served its purpose. It was better than we had expected for how cheap it was. Would recommend.
Review 73:Only thing is the Wi-Fi, connection was poor sometimes. But internet is not the most important thing for me.
Review 74:The staff was always friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable and the room was so clean! Compared to Europe, this hotel gives you so much more value for money.
Review 75:google instruction that took us down back ally entrance when front entrance was on the Main street.
Review 76:Easy flat walk from station in the middle of main street so close to banks and shops.clean and comfortable and easy walk to interesting sights. Im in my late 50s and was travelling with my 25yr old daughter. We enjoyed safe flat walking around at night to see the bridge and info centre beautifully lit up. Went around in the day to see it again in the daylight. Excellent info centre with craft making on display. Did a tour of the rail ferry museum on the ship.
Review 77:the parking is full when we arrived and we need to park the car in another parking area which is a few blocks next to the hotel
Review 78:the breakfast is excellent and the space of room is good
Review 79:Advertised as a 4-min walk from Aomori Station but it is more like 10 mins. However, it was not difficult to find the hotel as it is along the main road.
Review 80:I paid <4,000 yen for a night here (single room) and the room was better than an almost-7,000 yen-a-night single room I stayed in in another big city in Japan. Stayed 3 nights here. Single bed was quite roomy. Room is clean and cleaning staff tidies your room (the bed and bathroom) everyday. Compact room, but not too small as to feel really restricted in movement. Plus point for females: the room has a good hairdryer and full-length mirror! Wired lan cable in room; borrow a device from front desk to plug in for Wi-Fi. Yukata, slippers, basic toiletries, towels and even anti-odor spray (for clothes/room) are provided. Friendly staff, but speaks only a little English. I think front desk is 24/7 as I checked in after midnight.
Review 81:Hotel not very well signed and not on the ground floor. Fortunately we had directions from the Tourist Information Office.
Review 82:We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Hokkaido. We were pleased with the efficient, friendly staff who spoke a little English. A staff member accompanied us to our room, installed a wi-fi adapter so we had access to wi-fi in our room and showed us how to operate the TV. The hotel was about 10 mins walk from the station, on the main street with reception on the 3rd floor, accessible by lift. Our room was a bit old fashioned but spacious and clean and had the basics including a fridge. The price was very reasonable and this hotel is recommended for those who aren't too fussy about their accommodation.
Review 83:For the price I paid, it was so much more than I expected. The room and bathroom/toilet was clean and the location of the hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the Aomori train station, which made it very convenient for me since I needed to take the first train at about 5:45am. The room is small but more than what I needed, and it came with wifi connection.
Review 84:They don´t have beer coming out of the taps? Just kidding! Enjoy this very good place.
Review 85:The room is small, but so confortable. You´ll be in the best location, a few blocks from JR Station and the things to see/to do in Aomori.
Review 86:It is actually a little far from the train station, need to walk around 10-15 minutes. Room is small of course, the double bed is however also very small, barely not enough for an average size Asian couple. Worst thing is that the exhaust fan in the bathroom is unable to turn off, so it humming all night and make you cannot sleep well.
Review 87:Stay in the hotel for one night during the train trip from Tokyo to Hakodate. Room is clean and provide reliable Internet connection. Price is quite budget.
Review 88:location is acceptable but still a bit far from JR station
Review 89:The staff are helpful with good attitude. Room is spacious which is unexpected, I never stay in such large room with this price in Japan.
Review 90:Rooms were big enough, Staff tried to answer our questions. Great breakfast.
Review 91:internet was too slow
Review 92:good value
Review 93:Very nice location, near the train station for easy access to Hakodate. Near restaurants and convenience stores.
Review 94:Unfortunately the breakfast left a lot to be desired.
Review 95:Good breakfast spread, Nice friendly staff and Best value for money
Review 96:Parking was 3 blocks away.

Review 110:None
Review 111:Very good breakfast
Review 112:No wi-fi on the 8th floor. Dont know why, there was a router near the lifts, but no wi-fi in the room.
Review 113:Breakfast is great.
Review 114:no english, cannot control room temperature
Review 115:kind personnel, clean and cozy room, nice breakfast
