Review 1：I was charged a double room rate even though I had booked single occupancy. My friend paid much less for the same room she had booked directly through the hotel. The wall unit hairdrier in my bathroom was useless--probably a 1960s model!!

Review 2：The spacious bedrooms with sea view and balcony. The staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful. The fact that it is a smaller, family-run hotel in a beautiful location.

Review 8：Surprisingly the hotels' manager, Mario Castiglia was difficulty to deal with and since he was the main person behind the desk he made my stay most unpleasant. He was frequently rude,dismissive and when he chose to treat other guests graciously in my presence it made my stay very uncomfortable. This behavior in my mind is unacceptable for a hotel's manager and I will not be a "guest" at the Riva del Sole any time in the future.

Review 9：The supportive staff were so kind,considerate and went out of their way to make me feel welcomed. Loved my balcony and the view it afforded of Cefalu. The daily breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious.

Also there were some small charges that just seemed cheap to us. 5 euros for a beach towel. 2 euros to use their computer and printer, except there was no toner so we couldn't print. We still got charged though!?!

Review 19：The location was wonderful. Our room had a balcony overlooking the sea. Just beautiful. The food at the restaurant was great. Arturo is a great host. The breakfast was lovely. And Cefalu is a really beautiful former fishing town with lots to do and see.

Review 35：I wish they would offer a better choice for breakfast, only one sort of cheese and ham is strange for Italy. Omelette costs extra. Plenty of fruit and bakery was also good, but I am not such a bread eater, so for me the choice was limited. The other strange thing was that the coffee was made by the automated machine, not per hand as everywhere else in Italy, was therefore not that great. Tea they brew with salty water.

Review 103：There was nothing we didn't like. Gusippee, the host-b-fast waiter, will do anything to make your stay an enjoyable experience. He takes care of your bags, points out places to see and dine(this time of the year their restaurant is only open for b-fast). The location is wonderful, right on the beachfront with mountains to the left and the town of Cefalu on the right. Arriving in the beginning go March was a godsend. It was before the tourist season started so we had on site parking, no crowds, and several great eateries within walking distance. We were booked for one nite, but when we saw the location and the facilities, we quickly decided to stay an additional nite and enjoyed every minute of the day!

Review 121：Don’t expect a cheerful, helpful, friendly check-in person – unless you’re luckier than us. Don’t expect to be able to get more than one key per room, irrespective of the number of people in the room. Expect Reception to demand that you hand your key in to them each time you leave the hotel. Don’t expect much English language from management, nor a room with enough light to read with at night in bed (or elsewhere in the room except the toilet). Rooms have air conditioning, but it’s underpowered so makes little impact on temperature – problematic on hot days. The bed was barely long enough for my 5’11” / 178cm height. Don't expect tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Expect authoritarian hotel’s rules, such as “It is strictly forbidden to bring food or drinks into the rooms”. Whilst some staff are friendly, expect some of the others to take visible delight when confirming the absence of a service you expect in a hotel at this price level. So, two takeaways: 1. this will be the closest you’ll probably ever get to a true-life Fawlty Towers experience, & 2. this is a tourist hotel in a high tourist location, gets lots of business, & doesn’t try to be customer oriented. You can find many better places than it.

Review 122：You can do better than stay at this hotel, which superficially looks good. It’s furnished in a bright, very modern style, is located on the sea front (so the beach is across the road from you), & it’s close to lots of restaurants & a little supermarket. There’s a pleasant beach view if you get a Double Room with Sea View & Balcony, that room has enough coat hangers (but no drawers for clothes, so you’ll store most clothing in your suitcases), the room is well insulated against the road & outside noises, but you hear lots of noise from chairs & furniture in the room above you. Our room was clean & well maintained. Yes, it has a flat screen TV, but it’s a tiny 18 inch screen that's too small for you to see from bed, & there are no English language channels. The room is said to be 35m square by Booking.com, & maybe it is, but it doesn’t feel spacious because of space used by the windowless hallway. Wifi is free, but tragically slow (1/2 to 2 Mbs/sec), & doesn’t reach many parts of the hotel, including your room.
