Reviews for Hotel Astoria

Review 1:_the bathroom was a little bit small

Review 2:_Perfect position (only 700m away from city centre) _Very kindly staff _Big Breakfast _Free Park in front of the hotel

Review 3:We didn't like the quality of the breakfast (cheap, untasty products) and we were desturbed in our room at 10.30 (half an hour till checking off). And WI-FI doesn't work AT ALL!!!

Review 4:We liked nice personel.

Review 5:The street noise was fairly great at times

Review 6:The nearness to the town centre and ease to reach it was a good drawcard. The front of desk staff were always helpful.

Review 7:wifi reception was bad in our room, it was best just outside our room in the hallway.

Review 8:Friendly staff, nice family room. Not too far from the centre and the train station, we walked both within 15 mins. There are bikes to borrow as well (we couldn't as one of our kids was too small).

Review 9:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was simple, comfortable and clean with WIFI. The breakfast was fine and the whole package was excellent value for money .

Review 10:bottled water in fridge is not free but it is not indicated but when we drank it we were surprised that we had to pay for it! should be written clearly for the customer that water costs 1Euro a bottle so visitors will know

Review 11:excellent breakfast with lots of choice of meats fruit and cakes decor is nice and close to railway station

Review 12:Nothing.

Review 13:Close to the town, very clean, with a hospitable, helpful and communicative staff. Just 10 minutes walking from train station, the same from old downtown and its attractions. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had in Italy. Very good relation quality-price.

Review 14:Average breakfast, room noisy ( facing to street. You can hear also ewrithing on the hol and stairs. Avoid room nr 104

Review 15:The hotel is not far from autostrada and 15 min walk to the city center. Safe areea. Parking in front of the hotel free of charge.medium breakfast.

Review 16:new bathroom had no shelves for toilet articles and no toilet paper holder.

Review 17:English/German-speaking reception, new room, good bed, room safe, good lighting, convenient air conditioning and wifi, free on-site parking, fresh fruit for breakfast.

Review 18:the reception staff were friendly and efficient but, as one person was sometimes running the bar and covering reception at the same time at times, there was sometimes a wait at reception

Review 19:very helpful staff good range of good quality breakfast food

Review 20:The staff was quite helpful and attentive to our needs. The breakfast buffet was excellent. There was something for everyone. The room was clean and the air conditioner worked perfectly.

Review 21:The airco didn't function properly, it took a lot of time to cool the room, it seemed as if not working. The shower cabin was very narrow.

Review 22:Easy parking, the room was spacious and the bathroom big. The room was clean. Breakfast was quite nice.

Review 23:very thin walls. first night we hardly slept because of crying child in an adjacent room. bad wifi

Review 24:friendly staff very nice and clean room good breakfast free parking place

Review 25:Shower is a little too small. Refrigrater has no freezer but you can ask the front to keep your stuff in theirs. Ravenna is a small rural town. Downtown, close to St Vitale, is a little far from the hotel. No mini super or kiosk near the hotel.

Review 26:Friendy staff. Good parking space free. Free bicycle rental service. You can visit all sights in town by bicyle. Breakfast is good to average for this budget.

Review 27:TV did not work....manager did not offer another room. WiFi had high signal, but slow download, so I could not use YouTube. Essentially, just a clean place to sleep.

Review 28:Clean bed and A/C, price

Review 29:Walking distance from the lovely Ravenna. We had a lovely, unexpected surprise to discover an opera show in one of Ravenna's squares,San Francisco square,by the „I mimi dell'opera”.

Review 30:There was a serious lack of sockets for plugging in any kind of electronic equipment, none next to the bed.

Review 31:Fantastic location for visiting Ravenna, with the extra bonus of free parking and free bikes... cycling around the town was PERFECT. It's just outside the city centre. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was great. The room was very quiet, facing the back.

Review 32:Just a one-night stop over for us but a very enjoyable one. The hotel is well placed for a walk in to the historical city centre and the staff are excellent. They made us most welcome and gave us good advice about where to eat and the most important places to visit etc. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast was superb. Good parking places at the front of the hotel plus some space at the side and rear. The complimentary drink was a nice surprise as we were very hot and thirsty when we arrived......thank you.

Review 33:The WiFi didn't work great as we were on the top floor but it wasn't a problem for us.

Review 34:A great hotel to stay when visiting Ravenna, great, helpful staff, free bike rental, modern, comfortable rooms and a delicious breakfast! Also an easy walk into town. We were really happy with the hotel :) And free parking at hotel.

Review 35:it was still a bit of a walk to the attractions, (15-20min) The air conditioner didn't work very well and it was very hot outside.

Review 36:Nice room, one very nice staff person, fairly close to old town, delicious breakfast

Review 37:We were pausing for two nights in Ravenna, admiring the wonderfull mosaics from Justinian era. You can also spend some leisure time at the seaside just 12 km far, at lido adriano, swimming in the adriatic see.

Review 38:No Wine glasses in the room plus no iron and a working bar fridge would be great plus a bed that has a decent mattress protector to cover the gap. The shower is rediculous, can't even lift your arms to wash your hair.

Review 39:Although it is a sort of forbidden, sometimes on breakfast we prepare small snacks for children because half an hour after breakfast they are hungry and during the breakfast they do not eat much. Lady in the hotel made a big fuss regarding this, and at check-out she charged 5 eur for that. It was really embarrassing and unusual. Such thing had never happened before. Instead, she could have quietly asked not to do that. To charge this was ridiculous.

Review 40:Completely new room, nice and quite. Hotel is near Ravenna city center. Parking in front of the hotel.

Review 41:Parking is tight in their small lot, especially for a large vehicle.

Review 42:I'd made a mistake when booking three rooms for our party and needed an extra bed. Even though the hotel was fully booked, the receptionist juggled things around and all seven of us were accommodated. The breakfast was the best we had in Italy, beautifully presented and frequently replenished.

Review 43:The staff of Hotel Astoria was friendly and helpful. Ravenna is a little jewel, a city dipped in an astonishing past written in its mosaics. Its historical centre is also very compact and easy to visit and navigate. Very good typical and fusion cuisine.

Review 44:Computer available for guests to use internet. As I can't email on my phone it was handy while it lasted. Unfortunately after a couple of days it broke down.

Review 45:A good selection at breakfast, for a range of tastes - boiled eggs and toast, meats and cheese, croissants, breads, cake, fruit, fresh and stewed fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee.

Review 46:Nothing to do with the hotel but very disappointed with Ravenna. Once you've seen the main mosaic building, nothing really else and the square is overpriced!!!!!!

Review 47:very relaxed hotel in a good spot. Nothing a bother to the staff.

Review 48:It is on a main road so the site itself is not that appealing

Review 49:This hotel is well located in Ravenna just outside the historic centre and was good value.

Review 50:TV small and tempremental

Review 51:Staff very helpful - good knowledge of English Overall great value for money Fantastic breakfast location good. free parking Bed comfortable

Review 52:Ideal location with parking at the door and just outside the restricted vehicle area of this amazing city. The staff all went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable.

Review 53:Street noise - close to a major road into and out of the town. Neighbors can be too. Ear plugs would be helpful. Location - it is on the edge of the city centre so it takes 20-30 minutes to the key sights (except Theodoric mausoleum) and about 20 minutes to the train station.

Review 54:we booked a double and got assigned a room with a double bed and two single beds. We liked the extra space. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Wifi worked fine and the breakfast was good.

Review 55:Wifi not great in room but good in lobby/ bar etc. Couldn't get sky to work (but admittedly we didn't bother telling reception to give them the opportunity to try and fix it.

Review 56:Great base for Venice and San Marino / Rimini

Review 57:There was a construction in the hotel which started at around 9 am. The time wasnt much of a problem but it was very uncomfortable to wake up with construction noise which was continuous. And also they dont refill the breakfast materials which means you cant get the good stuff after 10 am.

Review 58:Everything was alright until the morning waking up with noise. But other than that we got a parking spot, a nice clean room and bathroom, a breakfast in the morning and bikes even after we checked out.

Review 59:The hotel debited 1 night in my card, before I checked in. The window is a bit noise with hard wind.

Review 60:Breaksfast is very good. The cleaning is made daily and it is very good. The staff is very helpful.

Review 61:The shower is fixed with no moveable shower head within a tiny cubicle so you have to either let the water leak onto the floor or get into position and suffer the shock of initially very cold, and possibly subsequently scalding, water on your head whether or not you were planning on washing your hair. Some noise from within the hotel during the night.

Review 62:The staff were very accommodating. Good breakfast. Extremely clean.

Review 63:Overall I must say that it was definitely worth every cent and I would be willing to pay more, next time I go there. Staff is amazing! Breakfast to! Clean and on a good spot.

Review 64:Only one thing might give some travellers trouble: the hotel is about a mile away from the main UNESCO sites. If you had mobility issues and were travelling without a car, then you might wish to book accommodation nearer to the monuments.

Review 65:This is a very pleasant hotel. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The staff were warm and friendly and very helpful on all matters. Breakfast buffet was sumptuous; on quiet days, the hosts offered free double espressos from their bar. One of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in Italy, and unbeatable value.

Review 66:Wide variation in rooms. While my daughters' room was spacious on the main level, my husband and I had a really tiny room on the 4th floor with a little skylight window and one wall light. It was really dark! There was a nightstand lamp, but the switch didn't work - it had to be operated by plugging and unplugging.

Review 67:Staff was helpful, and the breakfast was very nice. The barhrooms were also nice.

Review 68:-

Review 69:The hotel is very nice, located 10 minutes walking from the city center. We really appreciate the free carpark next to the hotel. The room was big and well equipped, even though the furniture was a bit old. The wi-fi was perfeclty working and we had a good breakfast (mainly pastries). The reception is available even at night. Great price/quality ratio

Review 70:Nothing

Review 71:Great position, great staff, big and intercontinental breakfast, the hotel gave us bikes for free and the room was very clean and good smelling

Review 72:The hotel Astoria is on a busy street but only 10 minutes walk to the old town. Despite its location the good sized rooms are quiet and the free on site parking is a big bonus. Breakfast is varied and good. The desk staff are charming and informative.

Review 73:The way the male rceptionist ignored us on our check in but was breathing on our neck durong breakfast, actually watching every single item and watching over everyone as if waiting for them to leave the room. He was also very abrupt before we left. He also did not wear a uniform.

Review 74:The way the female receptionist made her best to make us feel at home

Review 75:our room was in the basement and this was not made clear when we made our reservation

Review 76:Very clean room. secure parking for our car. very helpful staff with dinner recommendations and sightseeing maps.

Review 77:Breakfast not too perfect - unless your into cakes.

Review 78:You get want you pay for, and this room was not expensive. Small, but clean and sufficient room with ajustable heating (November).

Review 79:The lady at the recption did not agree to cancel the second room, booked by mistake. We should pay the double amount for the stay; but on the other hand they did not agree to hand over to us the key for the second room.... The refrigerator was our of order The heating did not work, it was cold in the room located directly below the roof. The lavaratry lid was damaged.

Review 80:Great value for the money!staff very pleasant and helpful! Excellent breakfast. Easy to walk anywhere in the center of Ravenna from the hotel! Would definitely recommend.

Review 81:Very plain dreary room, but then it didn't cost a fortune. Air con didn't work.

Review 82:Very helpful girl at reception spoiled by indifferent male at reception at checkout. Good parking which was free and appreciated. WiFi free and good speed.

Review 83:I paid for two nights (and two breakfasts) but enjoyed only one. Not Astoria's fault - I was stranded in Arezzo by the train strike that day. Like many tourists, I was charged a night's lodging by two businesses, in two different towns. Hotel businesses clearly benefit from Italy's train strikes. What I did NOT like (and consider extremely tacky) was that having been charged for two nights, and NOT getting two breakfasts, the Astoria staff asked me if I'd enjoyed the water left in my room's refrigerator - and then charged me for it. I am certain that the frequency of train strikes offers the hotels of Italy an opportunity to be gracious to tourists who've lost out. We already feel frustrated for the inconvenience and financial losses we've experienced. How difficult would it be to AVOID rubbing it in?

Review 84:The breakfast was superb. In my travels in Italy I found that only family-run, small B&B's have offered better. Excellence in freshness, variety, and quality of food and beverage items. Table supervised carefully and replenished immediately by attentive staff.

Review 85:No comment

Review 86:Very friendly staff, location quite close to the railway station, breakfast pretty good, very clean room/bathroom with free toiletries. Generally, very good impression and our advise is to book this location for your journey to Ravenna.

Review 87:There is some traffic noise, but tolerable.

Review 88:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free WiFi internet worked very well. Good location for those visiting by car. All the sights are within easy walking distance (10min walking to Ravenna´s city centre). The breakfast buffet was nice.

Review 89:The room was small, but the bathroom was microscopic! The shower measured 2' by 2' at best so it was really a challenge to shower! The room was acceptable but I would not recommend staying here to family...

Review 90:Staff and owner was very friendly.

Review 91:Luxurious towels in a large, well-lighted bath, large quiet room, good shower, excellent double bed, closet space, welcome drink and fruit bowl, simple wifi, friendly helpful personnel, good breakfast with fresh fruit salad.

Review 92:The air conditioning was a little bit overwhelmed, but fair. More non-sweet food in the breakfast menu

Review 93:Conveniently located close to the town center and in the same time offers easy exit by car towards the seaside. The room was cozy; they managed to install an extra bed for our daughter and there was still room to move around. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The breakfast was delicious, though fit for someone enjoying mostly sweets. Some salami and cheese was the only salty alternative. But there were plenty of tasty fruits, delicious homemade cakes and good coffee. The staff is helpful (especially Raoul, he gave us all the directions we needed) and recommended us a great small restaurant The hotel’s parking lot was small and they did their best to fit us also; but for those wanting more space, there is a public parking lot close to the hotel.

Review 94:The room seemed small even when compared with similar budget hotels in Italy. Undrinkable coffee

Review 95:Location walking distance to Ravenna's city centre

Review 96:Upon arrival we left our passports with the receptionist to record the information. When we returned about 10 minutes later we saw our passports on the desk with no one from the hotel in sight. We had to find the receptionist in another room, not sure if she was eating, socializing or what. When she got to the desk she still had to record the information. This is not secure or safe for any guest. Not sure where the "cozy" description comes from in other reviews. The place feels more like a hostel.

Review 97:Our room was very clean - cleaner than the breakfast room where the gentleman (manager, I think) was brushing crumbs to the floor in order to clean the tables for the next people. The bathroom was very large - bigger than the room.

Review 98:This hotel is in a great location with short wald to the UNESCO attractions. We had the best breakfast here in our 5 weeks of travelling in Italy. Free parking was a bonus.

Review 99:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 100:Easy walk from rail station and historic center. Very friendly and helpful staff' Very good breakfast with many options. Excellent value for price.

Review 101:Location next to very busy road. If you want like silence in the night better ask for the room on the quiet side of the building.

Review 102:Friendly personnel. Rooms basic but clean and good enough. 10 min walk to historic center of the city. Breakfast OK.

Review 103:Directions to get to the hotel from the train station would be useful.

Review 104:Very helpful staff and having a bike was an excellent way to see the city. Excellent breakfast, with fruit, yoghurt etc as well as the usual. Small but excellent rooms. Ravenna is a wonderful town

Review 105:Loved the FREE bicycles. The location was great and the staff were very helpful.

Review 106:Kindness of the staff Great value for the money Possibility to park inside

Review 107:Friendly staff, very good location to explore city, very good breakfast, parking...

Review 108:The suite was clean and spacious and the breakfasts were superb. Free parking was available out the front, or behind the building.

Review 109:They have an incredible breakfast buffet!

Review 110:Very nice and clean place. No problems here! Thanks!

Review 111:Security; Breakfast

Review 112:Room was small and Internet s little on the, slow side

Review 113:Very friendly staff. Free use of bicycles to get around the city. Nice breakfast - good value.

Review 114:Everything! Was awesome!

Review 115:Room clean Location is good Breakfast is good

Review 116:Close to the railway station and not far from the centre of town. Excellent buffet breakfast. English speaking friendly and helpful staff.

Review 117:Best and most informative greeting of the 11 places we stayed. Room was excellent, spacious, clean and comfortable.

Review 118:noisy location, tiny room, poor breakfast,

Review 119:wifi

Review 120:Nothing much

Review 121:Good location on edge of historic centre

Review 122:The wi fi was really poor in our room, but this seems to be a problem in all of Italy...

Review 123:Everything - location, service, room, breakfast.

Review 124:Clean, nice, near to the city center.
