Reviews for Grand Hotel Bristol Resort & Spa
Review 1:At the reception they are little bit cold. Wifi: works only at lobby. You have to take a code which is only valid 2 hours. We are in 21st century, wifi has to be better than that and not that you have to type a code every time and take a paper with a code, what a waste of paper!
Review 2:Very nice people working in the restaurant/breakfast. What a view!!! Nice hotel and very romantic atmosphere. Very nice room.
Review 3:The hotel was in the perfect location for us as we were going to a party nearby. The only downside was there is building work going on to a neighbouring property so there is a crane. Restaurant on the roof fab, breakfast wonderful, pool area great and rooms really lovely.
Review 4:Only a small thing but for a classy property plastic drinking glasses in the room was very odd...and no wine glasses. Free Wifi access in the room would have been appreciated
Review 5:Swimming pool was excellent
Review 6:Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in room Balcony too small - no seat Not great choice of fish/vegetarian options but quality of food excellent Pricey taxi journey to and from Rapallo town centre! staff not particularly friendly; polite and helpful on request but a bit too formal and impersonal
Review 7:Lovely building, beautiful public areas (modern decor), excellent bar, Junior Suite very spacious and comfortable, lovely pool of decent size (though shallow end quite deep), tasteful and relaxing (musical) entertainment, pretty garden, nice views
Review 8:The noise of the construction site in the vicinity The access to the swimming pool is not in conformity with safety standards
Review 9:The swimming pool The nice & helpfull staff
Review 10:The wifi must be free of charge and everywhere in the hotel. The alley to the pool and reception and the driveway shoud be done nicely. Please use glas instead of plastic cups.
Review 11:The restaurant on the top floor.
Review 12:This hotel could be outstanding. It has all the ingredients but the staff let it down. Invariably unsmiling, unwelcoming and, in some cases, downright unhelpful, they gave an impression that the guests were rather an inconvenience. The air-conditioning is controlled centrally (although they didn't tell us) and we spent one uncomfortable night in very cold conditions. We had to change the room, which was done grudgingly. The procedure for obtaining a new wi-fi code every day was cumbersome and irritating.
Review 13:The location and view are outstanding. The bus stops conveniently at the hotel for trips to Rapallo, Sta. Margherita and Portofino. The spa looks good, although we didn't use it. Parking facilities are excellent. The roof-top restaurant has a lovely view over the bay and served an excellent and tasty dinner.
Review 14:Having booked a table, I do not expect to queue for both breakfast andevening dinner. I understand the hotel was busy, but this is notacceptable. The food however was very good. Parking and WiFi an chargedextra. Room service was ok. Bedroom could do with painting and décor alittle tired.
Review 15:Good atmosphere, staff in general very helpful and friendly. Spa andSauna facilities and location good.
Review 16:Paolo, the general manager, decided that $1000 could be exchanged only if an outrageous $250 house fee was deducted first, off the top. No misunderstanding here. I refused.
Review 17:The restaurant was very good, and most of the staff were accommodating.
Review 18:Wifi is not free of charge, in particular 7 euros per day. Parking costs 10 euros per day.
Review 19:The place ,where the hotel is situated, is rather qiute and picturesque. We lived on the forth floor so the sea view was really pleasant. The suite was comfortable, the bathroom was qiute large and convenient. The variety of food during breakfast time was wide. And, of course, we were really pleased to visit spa and wellness area in the hotel.
Review 20:We enjoyed the beautiful sea view while having the breakfast (which was rich enough), swimming in the big pool. The location is not exactly in the center of Rapollo (3-5 min by car), but it is very pleasant. If you have a car, it is easy to reach all point of interests; Portofino, Sestri Levante, etc. The rooms are well decorated (not too big), but the bathroom is big and we liked the materials they used; elegant, good taste.
Review 21:Everything is extra and need to pay (ex: wifi, parking, ...), not just next to the center.
Review 22:Nice staff, very nice view from the hotel and some of its rooms. The breakfast is really good and the decoration nice. I ended up arriving very late but they were more than arranging.
Review 23:Having reserved a suite with a sea view for a Saturday night, I was informed on arrival that there were "plumbing problems with my room that could not be fixed until Monday" and that I had been rebooked elsewhere in a hotel on a side street. However, the presence of two coaches in the car park strongly suggested overbooking. Deeply disappointed.
Review 24:The restaurant on the top floor is beautiful and the staff are very professional. The food is excellent. We were given a free room upgrade since the hotel was not full, that was very kind. All the staff were lovely. The gym and wellness centre is a bonus too. I loved the pool and got plenty of lengths in. We met some nice people in the bar and the hotel has a very relaxing atmosphere.
Review 25:Room wasn't the one we booked. Manager lied to us. Room service didn't have a menu and was very inflexible. Drinks were very expensive.
Review 26:View from the room.
Review 27:the rooms were a bit old fashion... could use a bit of renovation plus a small table with chairs on the balcony so as to be able to enjoy the amazing view would have been nice!
Review 28:the view was great
Review 29:The staff were so friendly and helpful, the rooms were beautiful and clean. Pool and chill out area is great with a stunning view. Breakfast is really good! Fantastic location and great ambiance.
Review 30:No ear buds, cotton wool or moisturiser in bathroom No mirror in bedroom Taxi prices - hotel tells you one price taxi driver 20% more!
Review 31:View from pool, restaurant and bar area Nice swimming pool Lovely building
Review 32:Service, food, price/quality are bad. The hotel - and especially the management - needs maintenance. The airco was not working.
Review 33:The location is quite good
Review 36:The shower in our standard room was tiny.
Review 37:Lovely terrace for breakfast and pool area with fantastic view of ravello. Reception staff extremely helpful with advice of what to do and where to go.
Review 38:The hotel was generally in very poor shape, and none of the rooms were up to anywhere near the expected level. It was poorly maintained, not clean and the beds awful. We decided to check out before spending the first full night there.
Review 39:Absolutely nothing.
Review 40:Upgraded & we stayed longer. Staff are great. Restaurant excellent.
Review 41:Hotel also does functions Impossible to sleep if your stay coincide with that
Review 42:The hotel is very nice, we had a beautifull view, the staff was very nice. It's not in downtown Rapallo, but I recommend it!!
Review 43:The view was partly blocked by building cranes. To far away to walk to town
Review 44:Rooms were nice.
Review 45:Every thing else was poor, espicaaly staff and service
Review 46:Room size, housekeeping and the view
Review 47:No free wifi in rooms seems a petty economy for a luxury hotel
Review 48:The overall ambience the spa and pool the excellent restaurant and the staff
Review 49:Fantastic pool, we've got Un upgrade to the presidential suite which was fantastic !
Review 50:The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. The wifi is really bad unless you pay for 24 hour.
Review 51:Location and pool area
Review 52:The beds where terrible!!! We couldn't slep 2 hours straight
Review 53:The view
Review 54:The viene and the suite and the breakfast
Review 55:Hotel room Bed construction outside my window nosey blocked view.
Review 56:The area in italy was perfect.
Review 57:cold water in the pool and not enough pillows in the bed...but we would certainly come back anytine
Review 58:perfect location...beautifull building
Review 59:The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was lovely with a stunning view. Excellent outdoor pool, views from restaurants were amazing.
Review 60:The Cupola restaurant was superb.
Review 61:Very friendly staff and excellent cuisine at the Hotel restaurant with superb view.
Review 62:Hotel facilities, Breakfast, Beautifull View, Parking facilities
Review 63:A/C not working, but didn't really need it .
Review 64:Easy walk into town Great restaurant Excellent view (sea view rooms)
Review 65:Very small room, bed small for a double and very hard mattress.Noisy with dogs barking very early and constant.
Review 66:The staff and hotel were excellent. The view stunning.
Review 67:Small children are not welcomed at the pool area.
Review 68:Facilities, quality of the hotel
Review 69:The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the restaurants etc. Has good parking facilities and great views.
Review 70:Restaurant very expensive and limited menu. Twin bed matresses were hard and uncomfortable.
Review 71:Views from main foyer were spectacular. Walks between town and hotel were pleasant (took 20-30 minutes)
Review 72:The room fine generally, we only stayed for one night, but the shower was extremely tired and very small. Very expensive at Euros 310 per night compared with other hotels we stayed at on this trip.
Review 73:The view from the terrace is fantastic - elevated across the bay.
Review 74:Little bit of road noise by the pool and the food at the hotel, although good, wasn't as nice as some of the restaurants in the harbour. I would still give it 9.99!
Review 75:The hotel was stunning! A three night stay just on the outskirt of Rapallo - a fifteen minute walk to the main promenade. Our stylish sea-view room, overlooked the bay. The staff were efficient and very professional. A fab weekend - Portofino was everything I hoped it would be. Journey by train from Genoa station to Rapallo quick and easy on the train €3. Need a taxi to get up the hill with luggage 15€; Not too bad. Need more than two days to see all of the Cinque Terre.
Review 76:Extra internet charges in the rooms and not able to access wi-fi everywhere in the hotel - especially in rooms. Only after paying extra which i strongly refuse as this should be included in the room charge
Review 77:Location, view, facilities and comfort
Review 78:Good was the excellent location of the hotel towards the lungomare, the very professional staff and the view from both the hotel and the restaurant Le Cupole
Review 79:Shower stall was very small, had to go in sideways, couldn't bend down to pick up soap! A minor complaint!
Review 80:Breathtaking views of Rapallo coast from balcony of room! Staff was very friendly and helpful! Good breakfast in the morning! Very special place for a special time in your life!
Review 81:Wifi was not free, no tea and coffee facilities in room. Breakfast selection not great. Spa prices same as if you were a visitor and food poisoning after eating in the restaurant
Review 82:Great view from the Hotel of Rapallo
Review 83:The fact we couldn't stay longer, but that was our fault...
Review 84:Everything, from people at the reception, Julio and the French speaking lady, to the 3 young people at the restaurant. The massage given by Marilyn is the best we ever had.....
Review 85:We purchased a villa 4 km away from the hotel and had the intention of returning multiple times over the next two years while renovations were being done. The staff ruined this plan! Very rude. Especially the woman at the front desk.
Review 86:The staff here were so helpful. The baggage did not arrive on my flight and the staff on reception gave me lots of the basic toiletries. They were constantly on the telephone casing to see when the baggage would be delivered to the hotel. I ate one night in the restaurant and it was amazing, each course I could not fault. I would certainly stay here again
Review 87:the hotel is a bit far (20 min walk) from center and walking there is dangerous as sidewalk is a mere 30cm wide...
Review 88:The room, the king size bed, the view over the bay, the pool, the rooftop restaurant, the cleanness, the price/quality ratio
Review 89:Had to pay for the safe. Wifi was very expensive at 9 euros a day. Room was shabby and not too clean. At over 200Euros a night it was overpriced. A disappointment. Had a bureau de change but it would not change Stirling!
Review 90:Good leisure facilities. Quiet room. Breakfast was very good and on a lovely terrace.
Review 91:The wellness centre is awful and needs a total renovation. Thejacuzzi was broken and the sauna and steam rooms too cold. Apparentlythe temperatures are set by law but other hotel spas are much hotter. It is far out from Rapallo and would take a good 30 mins to walk onsteep roads.
Review 92:We had a junior suite which was a good size. The pool is large with afair amount of sun beds.
Review 93:Very expensive - pay for the location and not the room. Room needs updating to match the price.
Review 94:Excellent meal on the top floor of the hotel - very attentive staff. Staff were all lovely - especially the bar man.
Review 95:I stayed in the room 510. The room was terrible, almost everything was broken, even the shower and the bathroom doors. Poor breakfast.
Review 96:I stayed in the room 510. The room was terrible.
Review 97:The walls in the rooms needed a fresh coat of paint. I left my chargerin my room and when I contacted the hotel and asked them to send it backto me they asked for my credit card number. I found that a little cheapconsidering we had spend over 1000 € for our stay there.
Review 98:The view was fantastic. The restaurant was amazing. The sauna and hammanwere very relaxing. Breakfast was delicious.
Review 99:No free wi-fi.For a four star quality hotel it is petty to charge for wi-fi and should be included. If not in the entire hotel then at least in rooms or the hotel communal lobby.
Review 100:Very expensive for the standard of rooms on offer, the bathroom inparticular is very small and the shower cubical is just big enough toget in. Internet should be free in hotels today and a Eur 15 charge fora very limited room service is excessive
Review 101:Location was very good, restaurant was excellent.
Review 102:Nice hotel near centre of Rapallo. Great outdoor pool which you can relax with stunning views. Service in hotel is good. At your disposal. The rooms could be updated specially for the price as the hotel is renovated in modern design. Overall good stay and relaxing
Review 103:The distance to the center of town - not advisable to walk due to theunfriendly/dangerous road - and lack of suitable transport.
Review 104:Public spaces like Bar, Terraces very comfortable and very good garage(good access and space)
Review 105:The fact to leave that fantastic place...
Review 106:Fantastic hotel, fantastic restaurant, very confortable rooms, everything is ultra clean, nice and free spa/fitness center, large and good breakfast very kind people...10/10
Review 107:The request made at time of booking to provide soya milk, was ignored, and even on the second day, eventhough it was acknowledge we had requested, soya milk was not provided. Breakfast choice was not really satisfactory. Hotel was running on skeleton staff, so spa area was not properly attended and in the restaurant, resistance to soe requests was shown.
Review 108:Friendly and helpful reception staff, fantastic room, good quality standard Wellness and Spa area, breathtaking see and coast views from rooms, reastaurant and pool area.
Review 109:Due to being "modernized" it lacks the "Grand Hotel Epoque" atmosphere which some of the other Grand Hotels in area have. Breakfast was not up to Grand Hotel Standards.
Review 110:Excellent location, nice view, modern rooms.
Review 111:The welcome from the Manager is great - she offered us a welcome drink and a tour of the facilities which are very good. The pool terrace overlooking the bay of Portofino is superb - a really decent sized pool with loungers, palm tree shade and bar. Our room on the fourth floor had a tiny balcony with a dizzyingly beautiful view across the bay. If you stay here, visit the lovely town of Rapallo with its market, best freshly made pasta shop (take a ticket for your turn) and fish restaurants. The hotel restaurant on the roof terrace is very good - be sure to book a table.
Review 112:Very good staff, always helpful. Was upgraded on arrival by hotel manager which was very nice. Pool area and Spa are excellent and the restaurant food is very good.
Review 113:Surprised to know the spa is not opened during the day (because theweather is nice), so we had to insist on them opening it for us. Theydid, and it was good. Staff not very attentive although they tried. Haddifficulty to get them to bring an extra bed for the children at 11pm.
Review 114:Great pool for lounging and lap swimming. Cannot say enough good thingsabout their reception manager, extremely helpful, with a greatwillingness to go out of her way to guide and help.
Review 115:A little bit far from the Rapallo port where we find boats that goes to the islands and other ports such as Portofino...but it is a nice walk...
Review 116:Perfect service, very friendly staff and specially hotel that takes care of small details. Wonderfull holidays.
Review 117:Hotel was a 25 minute walk into Rapello which in the heat of the day wasa bit of a drag as taxis few and far between. No mention either of thetrain line which was about 300 metres from hotel and had very frequenttrains. Breakfast only average and little choice for a hotel rated at 5stars. Always a pain having to pay 17 Euros per day for wi-fi. Thinkthat the Excelsior Palace has better overall location.
Review 118:Room (suite) was well appointed and had great views. Relaxed atmospherein the hotel and staff helpful.
Review 119:Free wifi is a "must-have" in 2012 especially at such a price/4-starhotel. The balcony is very small and there are not chairs.
Review 120:A fantastic view from the room over the sea. A big swimmingpool and goodpool facilities. Restaurant at the top with a wonderful view.
Review 121:The worst hotel staff I've ever experienced in my life, and I've stayed at the colonial Inn (Dubbo, Australia) at least they listened.
Review 122:Absolutely terrible.
Review 123:The room was in a very bad condition: big stains on the carpet, window was not clean (and was not cleaned even on request), air conditioning did not work in spite of high outer temperatures (end of May). The hallway just outside the room was covered with plastic foil and noisy repairs were being done to a hole in the hallway ceiling (!). When coming back from dinner, we were informed that water supply was interrupted. The only reaction of the management was a shoulder-shrugging (no water in bottles offered or anything). - Breakfast is poor for a hotel of this standard, even more is the willingness of the personnel to react to obvious difficulties with the technical equipment. - Very loud because of ocean drive directly before the hotel. - We left after one night (not without a bigger discussion with the so-called vice manager) instead of staying for 3 nights as we had planned.
Review 124:Only the seaside view was according to the expectations.
Review 125:From the window in our room we could just watch the parking space instead of the announced garden view. To use the spa, one has first to go to the reception in the lobby to get a wardrobe key. Inside the wardrobe, you will find a towel as well as bath foam and another bathrobe (just perfect!) but if you just need a towel without wardrobe utensils there is no chance to find one. As there is no explanation in the room how to use the spa, we first had to find out. It is a nice hammam and sauna but the yacuzzi has to serve as a cooling down pool for the sauna as well, so it is not too warm and people keep waiting. We met a few towels from the previous day. But on balance, it is a very nice spa that is worth to be taken advantage of.
Review 126:It was a great stay in an beautiful and elegant hotel. We could use the spa after having checked out when we came back from an excursion. Bathrobes are offered. The hammam and the sauna are very nice. In the lobby, we enjoyed an afternoon coffee/tea offered by the hotel. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast in an elegant ambience and, maybe because of Sunday, even with a glass of spumante (not very sparkling however) on the buffet. The sea view was amazing. The hotel is just a ten to fifteen minutes walk far from town center. We loved to stay there!
