Reviews for Captains Desert Camp

Review 1:For JD50, we think they must include dinner too in the package since the tent facilities is minimal, so too overpriced.

Review 2:The rare experience sleeping under the Bedouin's tent

Review 3:Due to weather conditions, the fire pit (which is quite large and fun to sit around) wasn't lit and the electricity was turned off after midnight so the water ended up being very cold.

Review 4:We were the only people in the camp. It had rained the night before so we were upgraded to deluxe tents (the fanciest) with no extra charge. The mosquito nets were great and the personal, in-tent bathrooms are wonderful.

Review 5:many mosquitos.bring protection

Review 6:The camp seems to be much better than the others around.but you have to take a tent with private bathroom. the bedouin dinner is awesome.

Review 7:I would not recommend to stay here!Their mission states:To offer a true Arabian Bedouin experience to the visitor of Wadi Rum and ensuring a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.Well, they did give me and my friend a once-in-a-lifetime experience; a horrible one!I heard nothing but great reviews about this camp and a few bad ones. But what hotel or camp doesn't have a few bad reviews, you can't make everyone happy, right? I made this booking online through booking.com for three people. It was pricy, but we wanted to treat ourselves, after all, we are on vacation. As soon as I made the reservation, I had put in a request to the camp through booking, com to have them prepare mansaf (a traditional Jordanian dish). I received an e-mail from booking.com and it was confirmed that the request was sent to Captain's Desert Camp and that the camp will e-mail me with confirmation. This confirmation never came.As my friends and I arrived at the camp, we were escorted to the desk and greeted by a man with a huge moustache and silver hair. He then informed us of the price of our stay and that the dinner would cost extra, since we made a Bed and Breakfast reservation. The man claimed that when a booking is made through booking.com, it only allows Bed and Breakfast and that dinner would be extra. My friend and I told that man behind the desk that we had no idea that dinner was extra because it said nothing of the sort while we booked it. WE WERE BOTH SHOCKED BECAUSE EVERY CAMP THAT I HAVE STAYED AT INCLUDES DINNER, AND I'VE BEEN TO A LOT OF CAMPS. I explained to this man behind the desk in a calm way, we were not yelling, although a bit bothered and we were just trying to understand what was going on.We tried to work around it so that we can have dinner and no breakfast and eventually we were resolved to pay extra, because we were tired and hungry, but the man behind the desk just got irritated and shouted to the OWNER about us.

Review 8:Being greeted by a staff member who had just woken up. It was in Ramadan however.

Review 9:A fantastic afternoon jeep ride through Wadi Rum. Followed by an amazing feast - so much food! And then dancing to some authentic Jordanian music.

Review 10:One of the sheets was stained.

Review 11:Staff really looked after us after we ran the Wadi Rum Full Moon Marathon. They dropped us off at the marathon base and picked us up at the end of the Marathon , and didn't charge us for it. They also really looked after us with lovely food and drink when we returned and again didn't charge us extra for some soda drinks they gave us on the night of the run.

Review 12:The welcoming staff wasn't particularly friendly and seemed inconvenienced by our arrival.

Review 13:This is the third time we have stayed in the camp. It's a lovely setting, easy to get to. The entertainment that night was exceptional, perhaps because there were so many guests (we have been once when there was no live music, dancing, etc.). Our kids and visitors had a great time. They arranged a 4x4 trip through the desert which was wonderful.

Review 14:Could have done with being able to get breakfast before 7am if needed.

Review 15:The quiet The staff were helpful but gave us space 4x4 trip out into the desert was fascinating. The food was local, not English! The way in which the staff kept their daily worship routine yet looked after us was somehow very attractive.

Review 16:No major dislikes although I prefer if the camp is located somewhat deeper in the desert.

Review 17:Friendly & helpful staff and they did their best to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable, especially with young children.

Review 18:The tents could be better organized, taking into consideration the proximity to the town. We received the wrong time for the sunrise camel ride by the manager, just only leaving the camp when the sun has risen already. The main road is to close, thus we heard cars driving past during the night, not really having the desert experience.

Review 19:The camel ride was ok, the staff working were friendly and helpful.

Review 20:very short singing and dancing session in the evening after dinner. Power was off in the morning and so the credit card machine could not be used. Loud music from another nearby camp till 11 pm.

Review 21:Good basic breakfast. Room and bathroom were clean. Friendly staff. Price is reasonable. Beautiful scenery.

Review 22:Lack of hygiene (sanitaries and bed sheets stained).

Review 23:Geographic environment and human relations quality.

Review 24:Dinner was outstanding

Review 25:Breakfast could be improved slightly. For example, the option of a boiled egg would be good.

Review 26:Staff is extremely helpful. The camp was situated in a good place. I drove my car right up to the camp. The food was tasty and it was the best meal we had in Jordan. Overall, the one night stay was incredible. The Wadi Rum is a must see place and Captains Desert Camp will make you feel comfortable. They offer different styles of tents.

Review 27:Breakfast is a bit expensive.

Review 28:We have now stayed at Captain's twice, and both times were very good. After arriving late to this camp and subsequently missing dinner, the staff kindly prepared us a meal, followed by arguilleh and chai by the fire. The camp is peaceful and clean, and the rooms were quite warm despite the cold temperature. The stars and views were beautiful.

Review 29:Bedding was poor - cold at night (in Nov), sheets too short for mattress, bed bugs. Dinners very expensive and there wears no alternative available.

Review 30:Hot water for showers was a pleasant surprise at a campsite. Friendly staff.

Review 31:The dinner was good but not enough good for 12 jd budget. Lower theprice or add some stuff as lamb for the barbecue. In any restaurant ofJordan, this dinner is under 10 jd. I would n´t recommend to have adinner there.

Review 32:The service and staff

Review 33:The breakfast was dreadful. No fruit juice or other fruits. Whilst we do like to try local food at every meal, the boys are more conservative and some choice is needed. Dinner at 15jod was seriously overpriced. No water was offered free with the meal and soft drinks were also charged for. It was cheaper to eat at the 5 star movenpick Dead Sea resort! No fruit was on offer at the dinner and food was removed a little too quickly so seconds were not really possible. In Dubai, a little more effort was made to entertain travellers during dinner. For 150 jod, the four of us in dubai had an exciting 4wd trip, huge dinner with all the soft drinks we needed, henna tattoos for those who wanted one, short camel rides for all and a proper performance of dancers and musicians. Air con in one tent did not take the temperature down and it was actually cooler outside. The toilet in that tent was dirty. No bottled water was given to us in the tent to clean our teeth. I assume we could have bought water for this if we had wanted but for the price, I would have expected some bottled water to be free.

Review 34:Location to wadi rum, arrangements made by the organisation to pick us up and get us to the balloon flight, kindly upgrading the boys to a better tent. We were surprised that the tent had electricity Sockets. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The camp was tidy and the beds were comfortable even when you can't sleep because of the heat.

Review 35:The staff were amazing. Always friendly and willing to assist you at any time. The location was beautiful, the camel ride to see the sun rise was memorable. The food was amazing. The evening sitting around the fire, having tea, and dancing was fun. I would go there again if I get another chance.

Review 36:Great service and superb location. The facilities were clean. Don't expect a lot, you will be staying at a beduin camp. Hasan and the team provided us with everything we requested.

Review 37:The tent could not be closed properly and therefore not secure. It was very dark inside but electricity was only available between 6pm and 9pm, not even in the morning before breakfast. During the night a dog almost incessantly howled from 1:30am to 4:30am helped by the cats caterwauling in between, the mosquitoes biting despite a net, and trains roaring by in the early hours - did not add up to a restful night. The toilet/shower facilities were so basic some cubicles did not have doors! Most of the staff do not stay overnight and did not seem concerned. The place needs a good clean - EVERYWHERE!! Don't peep into empty tents as you will see the state of the unused mattresses and pillows.

Review 38:Not much - the trip into the Wadi was good and the driver friendly and helpful.

Review 39:Staff Food provided Cleanliness Location In one word - Everything

Review 40:Excellent and friendly staff Environmentally conscientious and considerate of wildlife Willing to aid any questions/issues

Review 41:Oud playing by the fire. Camel riding Friendly staff Sleeping in a tent Good food

Review 42:bathrooms could be cleaner

Review 43:the people were very friendly, food was good, and location was amazing
