Reviews for Hotel dei Duchi
Review 1:There was nothing - we loved it! Will definitely be back.
Review 2:The hotel was located in a great place near everything. The rooms were large and comfortable and the breakfast room had a gorgeous view of the valley. The staff was wonderful, especially David who saw to our needs at breakfast.
Review 3:The hotel is in a very convenient location with a nice terrace and the room was very clean, comfortable and with a very nice view. The breakfast was really good, it includes eggs, bacon, fruits, prosciutto, good cheeses.... We love it.
Review 4:Fantastic breakfast included in the price. Location was perfect for exploring the best part of Spoleto (Old Town). We really appreciated being upgraded to a suite with a balcony on the 3rd floor. Beautiful views over the countryside.
Review 5:Nothing special about this hotel. The Beauty Kit in the bathroom contained a small regular cake of soap and a shoe shine sponge. Clearly somebody must have a sense of humour.
Review 6:Conveniently situated
Review 7:Really lovely, conveniently located hotel. Most helpful reception staff. Patrizia went out of her way to locate my property which I had left at a wedding reception some miles away from the hotel. She was outstanding!
Review 8:We had a problem with the shower in the bathroom - this was dealt with effectively, and effusive apologies were made. It was all handled extremely well.
Review 9:The breakfast was very basic, although it was quite nice and delicious, you can't help wishing to have more. Although for me personally that was not a big problem.
Review 10:Great location, very nice and cosy building with a stunning view form whichever window, amazing spacious room, very clean and looking new. My windows were looking at the Teatro Romano - ancient Roman theatre and as it was during Spoleto festival, you could hear the music coming from the performances held there - the windows have a very good sound isolation though, so if you don't feel like listening to any classical music, you can just close them and stay in complete silence.
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:Lovely hotel in a great location. Well presented, spotlessly clean, great wi fi, we had a spCious room with amazing views - most importantly we were treated like special guests by the staff.
Review 13:In this day and age its unforgivable to have wi-fi infrastructure that does not deliver to the room of one's guests. They tried. The modem was reset and the front desk person came to my room but was unable to get on-line. I was offered a drink if I choose to work from their lobby. I accepted. Found the connection to be OK, but not good enough to support a Skype video call.
Review 14:Great location with free parking. Rooms are large, although mine was noisy. I was in the front. I would rate this hotel a 3.5. Once the Internet issue is resolved it would be a 8.
Review 15:No negatives
Review 16:I stay at this hotel everytime I come to Italy. It is perfectly situated right off the highway but on a lovely tree lined street around the corner from a central piazza. Extremely well managed, spotlessly clean with many rooms overlooking interesting views - some rooms have terraces. Great, typically Italian breakfast in a large sunny breakfast room. I would not stay anywhere else in Spoleto.
Review 17:The barking dog in the next room very early in the morning! But the reception staff were fantastic and we never heard it again!
Review 18:The staff went out of their way to help us with numerous problems we had (like we needed to find an optometrist urgently and they set it all up very fast). The hotel was in a gorgeous location overlooking the valley, very nice amenities, good hot water and Beds with ample breakfast and good service. We would go back any day.
Review 19:The location is almost at the heart of the town and yet it has a feeling of peace and tranquility. Pleasant rooms and reasonably priced restaurant along with its own car park made this an ideal place to stop for those motoring in Italy.
Review 20:ONE English TV channel (BBC). About 40 Italian shopping channels. Not an acceptable choice of international TV channels for a hotel of this grade and expense.
Review 21:Booked better room with nice balcony and great view. Breakfast included was very good. Attentive staff. Good restaurant choices close by.
Review 22:Arrival was difficult as there were no taxis at the railway station, and no reply from the "call a taxi facility". It was NOT the hotel's fault but transport from the railway station on a Monday out-of-season is problematical. The hotel arranged for a taxi but they had to call several firms and eventually found one from Foligno, some distance away.
Review 23:Very friendly, helpful staff, who went the extra mile to assist our local transport difficulties.. Location in the town is excellent (Spoleto is extremely beautiful), close to dining and other facilities, such as the Duomo.
Review 24:- junior suite didn't have easy chairs and did not meet expectations from photo on web site
Review 25:- accessibility from main road - parking - proximity to historic centre - view/small balcony
Review 26:Nothing.
Review 27:Great location with free car parking in forecourt - although it gets a bit tight. Spotlessly clean hotel and staff were friendly and efficient. Comfortable quiet room. Breakfast was very good and comes with a great view!
Review 28:We liked everything , no negatives at all.
Review 29:The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent and the views were wonderful. The staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. We would be happy to stay again and will recommend the Hotel to others. Thanks for make our stay so enjoyable.
Review 30:The location was very convenient for the buses from the station as well as for the shops and the restaurants. My room was spacious and very comfortable with plenty of hanging space and an excellent bathroom
Review 31:Very convenient and easy to find. Comfortable and welcoming. We arrived late and hungry, and they found a restaurant that was open nearby. Very good breakfast.
Review 32:Nothing -everything was to our satisfaction.
Review 33:The staff, the facilities, and the location. Free parking is a bonus too. The breakfast is varied and plentiful.
Review 34:Parking spaces were limited and sometimes we had to park in front of another car but the staff were helpful with moving our vehicle when needed.
Review 35:The staff where very helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations.
Review 36:nothing.
Review 37:The good location in town. The big, clean room with airco. Frendly staff and the parking in front of the hotel. The breakfast was varieted and good.
Review 38:Ideally located in the centre of Spoleto but still with lovely views from our room across the valley to the hills. Clean, comfortable, quiet hotel with excellent staff.
Review 39:The breakfast offering was lacking in variety and the serving staff wasn't very attentive.
Review 40:The location was very convenient to the city center and the view from our balcony was beautiful. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and clean.
Review 41:We were very happy with all this hotel had to offer: For once, tiles, not carpets, cleanliness guaranteed and cool in th summer. Furthermore, excellent beds, quiet room, sublimely slent airco, and an incredibly beautiful breakfast included in the price. Excellent location as well. To be recommended !
Review 42:The tub shower combination doesn't have a curtain and it was very hard to shower without getting water all over the plae.
Review 43:Nice large room with balcony and view. Variety breakfast buffet.
Review 44:The location of the hotel,
Review 45:Great location, large comfortable rooms, in excellent condition.
Review 46:Excellent location. Gorgeous views. Simple, but elegant, modern Italian design.
Review 47:Most comfortable beds we have had in Europe ever. Thus an excellent night of sleep when combined with very dark room.
Review 48:Good breakfast buffet. Free wifi. Excellent location with free parking. Good restaurant. Helpful staff. Good value.
Review 49:Great location, beautiful views, very comfortable, excellent room, terrific restaurant
Review 50:Location - close to main attraction sites
Review 51:wooden floors above lead to loud footsteps if other guests wear high heels.
Review 52:the location, modern and quiet.
Review 53:none.
Review 54:Location and The Parking.
Review 55:Great position
Review 56:Everything
Review 57:Works on progress, but the management was helpful.
Review 58:Location, cleanness, breakfast.
Review 59:Walking distance to most sites Spacious modern room Good breakfast Parking in front of hotel Good WI-fi
Review 60:the location, staff very helpful, friendly attitude, good access on foot to the old city in walking distance , convenient parking,
Review 61:Staff assistance especially from Patricia
Review 62:Extremely helpful front desk personnel. Lovely room.
Review 63:Very helpful staff, large clean rooms. Great location in Spoleto, just outside the ZTL.
Review 64:Great location, excellent breakfast, friendly, helpful staff, free parking
Review 65:excellent position near bus stop and central square. Informative staff. Privately owned.
Review 66:nothing
Review 67:My entire stay was a pleasure
Review 68:Nothing much
Review 69:Great location, right in the historical centre. Lobby is beautifully decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is quite good.
Review 70:The hotel was functional and efficient rather than welcoming; for example, we were never asked if everything was ok or if we had enjoyed our stay when we checked out. The breakfast was reasonable (neither the best or worst I've had in Italy) but the coffee was abysmal, possibly the worst I've had in an Italian hotel. The loungers on the sun terrace were covered in bird droppings and consequently we would not use them. This was surprising considering how clean the rest of the place was. There were, however, chairs which were free of bird droppings. A parasol up there would have been good as it was very hot when we visited. The air conditioning didn't seem very efficient during the night. I thought this may just have been us but we went on to other accommodation in a different part of the country after the Dei Duchi and that air conditioning worked well day and night. The only other downside was the in-room safe, which you could actually lift out of the wardrobe. Not much use for securing your valuables really!
Review 71:The hotel is very clean and has a good location near the top of the old town, within easy walking distance of decent restaurants. Room was large and comfortable, with a great view of the surrounding countryside. We always look for a hotel with outside space when staying somewhere for more than a couple of days and the Dei Duchi has a sun terrace (overlooking the Roman theatre) and some garden seating. Wi-fi was free, you didn't need a password and we never had any problems connecting.
Review 72:Wifi a bit slow. English was a bit of a struggle for some staff on erection but we managed to chat OK.
Review 73:The hotel was very well appointed and the rooms were clean bright and spacious.
Review 74:Small parking area means you can be blocked in by other vehicles.
Review 75:Onsite parking. Walking distance to all the old historic parts. Fast free internet. Very good restaurant
Review 76:Size and comfort of room and bed. Friendly and efficient staff.Car parking available. Location is very good with easy access to town itself.Internet description and photos are precise and accurate( what you see is what you get). 2nd visit and would happily return.
Review 77:Great location in Spoleto. Excellent restaurants within in a close walk. Very comfortable room with good wifi. Free parking. Nice breakfast included in the room rate.
Review 78:I want to especially thank Gherardo Mugnoz for all his help while we were visiting...a very knowledgeable and able person. Also Nadia for serving us so late and being so very pleasant. ..a big thanks to them both. They are a credit to your hotel. I have already recommended you to my friends.
Review 79:Nothing much. Perhaps the noise from some guests in the room above getting up early which woke us up.
Review 80:Everything. Really great staff, a fine room with stunning view which we were upgraded to plus an excellent breakfast made the stay most memorable.
Review 81:Staff was friendly and welcoming. Location is perfect as the hotel was easy to reach by car but also near all the sights of Spoleto. The on site parking was free and convenient. Room was more than ample for two people.
Review 82:Nothing!
Review 83:The hotel was easy to reach by car in the old part of Spoleto and the parking was free. Big room with balcony and wonderful view. The staff was very helpful.Good value for the price.
Review 84:The hotel is on the edge of the city centre next to the Roman Theatre , in summer part of the famous festival. The hotel is overlooking a small valley and is very quiet. There is a private car park which may fill up quickly. My room was nice with a desk, flat screen TV and a clean bathroom with a shower.. Free WiFi internet worked well with sufficient speed for streaming media. The breakfast buffet was typical Italian with lots of sweets and pastries but also some bread, ham, cheese, yogurt, etc. Coffee is made to order. The view from the breakfast room over the valley is nice.
Review 85:Not a real problem, but the parking outside the hotel is small.
Review 86:The location is great. The breakfast was ok.. Bread, cakes, yoghurt, fruit, cereals etc.
Review 87:We used Hotel dei Duchi as our base to visit the Cinque Terre. You will need a car to access the train station at Levanto about 10km away. The establishment itself is fantastic in quiet surroundings. the facilities are very clean and the room and bathroom were very well appointed. The owner/people running the establishment are very helpful and friendly. A most enjoyable and comfortable stay.
Review 88:Absolutely nothing.
Review 89:Immediate access to the old town & good restaurants. Lovely outlook over the Umbrian hills from our room. Staff really helpful. Room had been refurbished really well.
Review 90:We cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Spoleto but at the dei Duchi. It was wonderful from the moment we drove up to the off street private parking area. The hotel is modern but reflects the traditional architecture and decor of the area. All staff were efficient and friendly. We received an excellent room, the most comfortable of our long journey. There is a lift. The breakfast is generous and there is a wide selection in a room overlooking an attractive rural area. It is possible that this hotel would be a good base for touring beyond Spoleto. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
Review 91:The only dislike was the delay in shuffling around in the car park, which was often over-full in September 2013. on previous trips this had not been a problem.
Review 92:Location, friendly & helpful staff. Rooms are comfortable and cheerful. Food is good and plentiful. A first rate hotel for a reasonable price.
Review 93:I think it is a great location and a most interesting part of Umbria. It also has good walks and a great history. It is also off the beaten track which has an appeal. The hotel had fabulous views over the countryside.
Review 94:That I had to leave... :)
Review 95:This place was perfect. I loved every minute of my stay. The bestsurprise when I arrived...I Had paid for what I thought was the cheapestroom and it came with a balcony and a breathtaking view. It does turnout that there are some cheaper rooms downstairs in the'basement' (it is not really a basement as it is notunderground); these have windows but no balcony. There also do not seemto be very many rooms with balconies, but there is a terrace accessedfrom the first floor (That is the second floor to Americans). It has afantastic location for exploring this lovely hilltop town of Spoleto. Itis right next door to a Roman amphitheater and a park. At night, thepark was playing a movie. It was lovely. (Btw, I left my balcony doorsopen several nights and it was perfectly quiet enough to sleep later atnight. I also closed them a few nights and I couldn't hear anythingoutside.) Just a few steps away is the post office and a few more stepsto Piazza della Liberta. In Piazza della Liberta, you will find a couplelittle cafes and a tourist office with very helpful people. Really, everything in Spoleto is within walking distance from the hotel. If youdon't feel like walking, though, the hotel has two great pluses: 1)it has its own parking lot, and 2) there is a bus stop just a few stepsaway. I didn't have a car during my stay. I only used the bus twice,to and from the train station. It was very easy and convenient. Theentire staff was friendly and helpful. There was one technical problemwith the toilet one day that was fixed immediately. The room was keptspotless by the lovely cleaning ladies. The people at the desk werealways helpful when asked any questions. As with most places, the peoplemake the biggest difference. The food was fantastic from the includedamazing breakfast in the dining room overlooking the beautiful hills tothe lunch and dinner I enjoyed in the garden. I would definitely eat atthe restaurant again.
Review 96:A very comfortable room overlooking the hills around Spolleto. The breakfast was a treat of varied and good quality food in a comfortable room with great views.
Review 97:Perfect location and especially for us as the Mille Miglia went past the afternoon of our arrival. Just next door was the Roma Teatro and an easy walk to the Duomo and other places of interest. The staff was well trained, friendly and helpful!
Review 98:The location was excellent with lovely views from our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was excellent value for money and the restaurant had lovely food.
Review 99:The location is very convenient, close to the historic center ofSpoleto. The room is nice, very clean and very quiet.Breakfast is tastyand the staff is always willingly helpfull.
Review 100:Need to post driving directions on the website. It was not were my Smart phone or GPS unit thought it was.
Review 101:The location is ideal for Siena, espcially since you can drive and park at the hotel while most hotels you cannot. The front desk clerk was exceptional. He was helpful beyond any expectation. I asked for an Irish coffee after a cold walk around Siena, but he didn't know how to make it. After listening and finding the correct makings, he did his best! He also guided us to a great resturant and some of the sights to see.
Review 102:Great location, car parking and excellent views over the Umbrian hills. Lovely breakfast overlooking the countryside but only a minute into the wonderful town of Spoleto. Helpful and pleasant staff hope to return soon.
Review 103:We stayed in the hotel for one night (on 21 July, 2012), and it turned out to be the only hotel during our two-week holiday in Italy where we faced very unfriendly and impolite staff (a receptionist). First, we were asked to hand in our car keys, and as we denied it, we were informed that we did not park our car the right way, the right place etc. When I asked for the reason, the receptionist could not give a sensible answer and gave it up and the car remained on the same place. My Italian knowledge (that is "good enough" for me to give lectures on several universities throughout Italy) turned out to be insufficient in the hotel, because the receptionist wanted to practice her very basic English. (It was ridiculous when she said so.) Finally, on the day of our leaving when settling the bill there was a "connection error" with the bank, thus the receptionist credited the amount twice from my card. Fortunately, the second charge was cancelled by the bank soon .
Review 104:The location of the hotel is perfect for sightseeing.
Review 105:We stayed in the 2 room suite of rooms 201 & 202. a pleasant surprise ofan upgrade to a living room & bedroom combo. Great location in the heartof old Spoleto. We'll definitely stay here again.
Review 106:I liked everything about this hotel. The location was perfect for attending all the events of the Festival dei Due Mondi. The staff were friendly and helpful, as well as doing their jobs extremely well, and told me that my Italian language had improved immensely during my stay of three weeks. For a 4-star hotel, the rates were extremely fair, and the final bill was less than I was expecting. I would recommend this hotel to whomever went to Spoleto for whatever reason.
Review 107:Hotel dei Duchi was the finest hotel we stayed at during our 2 weeks inTuscany. The staff was welcoming, the views from the dining room and ourroom were beautiful. The decor was warm and pleasant, more trendy thanany other, and quite pleasant. Our room was large and comfortable. Iwish we had booked more days and stayed in Spoleto longer!
Review 108:This hotel was excellent in every sense for us. W e had a very largeroom with stunning views of the hills. The location is ideal, next door the Roman amphitheatre and adjacent to tthe old city wall. The hotel provides excellent value and the staff are really friendly Bratislava is a gem of a find and off the busy tourist radar
