Reviews for Giumbabulla Luxury House
Review 1:After shower a big part if the bathroom floor was wet.
Review 2:Lovely host, extremely good location to visit both Ragusa and Ragusa Ibla, wonderful breakfast on our own balcony. Beautifully refurbished rooms! Comfortable bed. Could not ask for more!
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Very nice people running the B&B. Breakfast is brought to your room at a time which you prefer. Nice location to visit Ragusa Ibla and public parking available nearby. Room we had was quite large and had a very nice bed, a well-equipped bathroom and a bamboo floor, which we really liked.
Review 5:A bit hard to find, although all effort was made by the owners toaccommodate you. Everything has a bit the impression of being old, alsoit's not that clean. It's overall clean, but in some corners andthe jacuzzi E.G. you notice signs of wear and tear.
Review 6:Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful! Provided with little tapasand drinks. The room is big with a 'flying bed' and a jacuzzi. The bathroom is sufficient and breakfast is personal as you like at whattime you like. Ok price quality.
Review 7:Situated right next to the steps which go down to Ragusa Ibla. Parking is free at the recommended location which is about 100m away but owners helped with luggage.
Review 8:Daniela and Giovanni were perfect hosts for the 4 nights we spent in their lovely B&B. It's an interesting property, more like staying in a typical Sicilian house as it is located away from the main roads in a residential part of town down a pedestrianised side street. It's worth noting that the car parking is a hundred metres or so from the property, the Piazza Carmine next to the church being the recommended free-parking area. This caused us some confusion when we arrived as we had programmed the sat-nav with the address not realising we could not drive up to the door. Daniela had apparently given this detail to us via an e-mail facility on the Booking.com website but it never arrived - best to double check with her via your own e-mail/telephone if that's your booking method. Daniela and Giovanni guided us to the correct spot, Giovanni has a tradition of carrying guests' suitcases to the rooms so don't even think of arguing if he offers !We had the Arabesque room which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable with a bedroom and separate sitting room plus a good-sized shower in the bathroom. A balcony view over the rooftops to the valley below was a good way to welcome each morning. Daniela's breakfasts are brought directly to your room by Giovanni and comprise a delicious array of pastries plus either home-made pizza or a savoury ham salad croissant (alternating days) as well as yoghurts, juices and coffee/tea. Along with the daily replenished fruit basket this was more than enough to set us up for the day. There is a handy little convenience store about 20 metres over the road for any other bits and pieces you may need.
Review 9:Breakfast is fine if you like traditional Italian fare - mostly pastries, and some filled with cream. We would have preferred more fruit, and some fruit juice, but a few oranges and apples were provided. We are touring and expect a surfeit of pastry in the morning, but we find some places get the balance a bit better on the healthy side. However, everything was fresh and there was plenty of it. We were staying only two nights. If we had stayed longer I am sure Daniella would have obliged and provided something more to our liking, had we asked.
Review 10:We arrived at the square and were met promptly by Daniella and her husband who helped us to park and with our bags a short distance to Giumbabulla. We were in the Mondrian room. Very comfortable and quiet. Great location for both Ibla and Superiore.
Review 11:no complaints.
Review 12:location was perfect for visiting both the new and old parts of the city. Our hosts did a great job communicating with us since we do not speak Italian. They spoiled us with pastries and blood orange juice.
Review 13:Everything was wonderful.
Review 14:Daniela, one of the owners, is one of warmest, most caring people we've met. She helped us call our previous B&B to give them our credit card, deal with reporting an accident, arrange arrange cabs for us for a special dinner and then she drove down to Ragusa Ibla to pick us up in the rain the next day when a cab would have taken 40 minutes.
Review 15:There was nothing we did not like about this place. We loved it.
Review 16:Our Mondrian themed room was excellent with everything we needed and the breakfasts delivered to our room were most delicious. Daniella and Giovanni's attention to detail and the extra help they extended to us was most appreciated. We would recommend Giumbabulla to anyone visiting Ragusa.
Review 17:Nothing.
Review 18:The Arabesque suite we stayed in was comfortable, atmospheric and luxurious. Very romantic and special room. Very comfy bed and quiet at night. This little boutique hotel seems as much a labour of love as a business for owners Daniella and Giovanni. It is decorated with thought and lovely little touches in room like chest of tea selection and fruit basket. Lovely bathroon, shower and toiletries. They were so considerate - enquiring about dietary requirements for example and preparing one of us a lovely gluten free breakfast as requested. Breakfast was very generous and delicious. A very special place - ideal romantic haven for couples.
Review 19:Very litle but a small table and chairs on the balcony would have been good.
Review 20:Danielle and Jonny were wonderfully kind and efficient. The apartment is very stylish, it was like living inside a Mondrian painting! Super location for going down the steps to Ibla. Really good value restaurants nearby.
Review 21:We stayed in the Mondrian suite, where the owner Danielle had creatively designed the interior. Cool! Danielle is fantastic, very helpful and even serves breakfast in your room. Highly recommended!
Review 22:mosquitoes up the hill from Ibala no luxury here
Review 23:It was great thanks!!! Aga i Tomek
Review 24:3 rd floor and no elevator.
Review 25:Excellent host and hostess. Easy to find. Great breakfast. Small apt.
Review 26:We liked the romantic ambiance, the beautiful themed rooms (we stayed in 2 different rooms!) cool bathrooms and breakfast is brought to you to eat in your own private ante room. The lovely hosts Daniela and Giovanni did all they could to make our stay as perfect as possible, Giovanni even helped carry our paddle boards into a storage area!!.
Review 27:I could've used another wall hook or two to hang our towels, butthat's really it.
Review 28:Daniela and Giovanni were wonderful hosts. Our decision to stay inRagusa wasn't planned and we felt lucky to get a room at the lastminute. I only had internet access and no phone service, but Daniela wasextremely responsive to emails and seamlessly booked our reservation. Not only was Giumbabulla a fantastic price, but Daniela provided many great recommendations for restaurants and helpful directions to get us there. Everything from the gourmet breakfast to the personalized service was top notch. We felt completely at home and taken care of. I'd definitely come back to Ragusa and look forward to staying in one of the other designer-themed rooms.
Review 29:A night the rooms are lacking sufficient lighting.
Review 30:Charming B&B. The hosts were extraordinarily accomodating and attentive. The breakfast was excellent and customized to your wishes. The a/c worked well and my room was very quiet. But the top floor might be disturbing by the birds landing and walking on the roof. Ragusa is wonderful to visit. There's a lot of climbing steps to reach town historic center, however certainly worth the effort.
Review 31:Big hassle about payment thru Booking.com - bring your receipts and proof of payment to keep things simple. Seems like Bookings.com is not very diligent about paying the owner of the B&B - we ran into this problem with all 3 properties booked thru Booking.com, even though we had booked and payed 60 days in advance.
Review 32:Great place to walk from and see the sights, felt like a "native" the whole time.
Review 33:This has to be one of the best places I have stayed in. The main reason is the owner - Daniella. Daniella spoilt us. She met us from the nearby square where it was safe to park. She and her daughter carried our luggage all the way to our wonderful top floor rooms. She brought us breakfast to our room and what a breakfast - everything - and more - wonderful. The rooms were like an apartment with balcony on the top floor with an incredible view over Ragusa Ibla (the lower and more interesting part). The B&B is right on the edge of Ragusa superior but not far from its Cathedral and main square. There was a lovely bedroom with very comfortable 4 poster bed. There was also another nice room with a sofa and kettle and teapot and many sachets of tea - also a bowl of fruit which was refilled each day. There was also a music centre. The shower room was very modern. It has all been recently done. It is a perfect place to stay to visit Ragusa. The steps that take you down to Ragusa Ibla (with the cathedral and square used in filming Montalbano ) start just down from the B&B and I will never forget my first sight of it and the continuing views as we walked down. The Wi-Fi was excellent. I would highly recommend anyone to go
Review 34:Daniella and her husband are the consummate hostess and host. Arrived late in evening and were met in piazza carmine by Daniella and John who insisted on taking our bags two blocks to our room- entered to find a warm bath ready along with prosecco and snacks. These folks really work for their guests and all advice and suggestions were "spot on"- will highly recommend to all travelers- PS - excellent value as well
Review 35:We had the pleasure of being lucky guests of Daniella and Giovanni at this charming B&B. We stayed in the Arabian room which was spacious and quiet. The bedding is beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. An elaborate delicious breakfast of pastries, pizza, juice and coffee was delivered to our room each morning. Daniella made wonderful restaurant suggestions and even brought us a bottle of Grillo after our first day of sightseeing. Be sure to make arrangements to meet Daniella at Piazza Carmine as the house is on a “street” that you cannot drive to. This is a lovely and safe B&B and we would highly recommend staying with Danielle and Giovanni!
Review 36:Very nice B&B in the heart of the center. Arrived at the front of the building, you will never expect that you will enter in a palace. The owners are taking care of the guests with the typical Sicilian warmth. Giving good advice to discover the city, and providing the right addresses for a nice lunch or dinner. Spent only one night but will definitely go back.
Review 37:We stayed in the Mondrian "suite" --cool concept--but room for dining not very functional. Table too small for the breakfast brought to room.
Review 38:Ragusa Ibla is well worth visiting. Giumbabulla is at the nexus of Ragusa and Ragusa Ibla. The staff tries to be helpful. Mondrian concept carried out well in bedroom, bath, and small dining area.
Review 39:nothing at all
Review 40:This b & b was absolutely charming and luxurious, full of character. The owner's attention to every detail was superb. SHe couldn't have done more to make our stay a joy, including meeting us on arrival to help us park the car and take us to the rooms. A wonderful breakfast was served in our room each morning. This b and b was an absolute delight and extraordinarily good value. The location, right between the old and new towns, was very convenient.
Review 41:Keep in mind Stairs to apartment however owner helped carry luggage up. Internet only available at reception area due to lack of coverage in Ragusa.
Review 42:Owners very helpful and served lovely Sicilian appertivo and wine for our 2nd night. Very clean and spacious rooms. Great breakfast and modern facilities in this beautiful old town.
Review 43:Nothing, I recommend to stay at Giumbabulla!
Review 44:Everything, starting form nice reception by Danniela and her husband, design of the suite, location between two historical centers of Ragusa, free bottle of wine for welcome, great breakfast served to the room.
Review 45:The personal service provided by Daniela and Giovanni was outstanding. They couldn't have done more for us and made our stay in the Arabian suite really special. The suite was beautiful with great attention to detail. Gabriela provided wonderful breakfasts to our suite and also a couple of delicious dinners when my husband wasn't feeling well. We could walk to shops and restaurants and Ragusa Ibla was also within walking distance although we did drive to it instead.
Review 46:The rooms are very unique and wonderfully decorated. Daniela and her partner are excellent hosts and the breakfast is simply amazing - highly recommended!!
Review 47:The staff drove out to meet us on the outskirts of Ragusa and led us right to the B&B, which was extremely nice and helpful. The B&B is in a perfect location to explore both the upper and lower towns. The breakfast was excellent (brought to the room) and the old town of Ragusa is spectacular.
Review 48:It's a great location if you want to see both the baroque areas of Ragusa as well as Ragusa Ibla. Parking was easy for us (Daniela will meet you if you haven't been to Ragusa before). This was a very unique place to stay- a small apartment in a traditional house which we very much enjoyed (very modern bathroom, view from balcony window and no outside noise at all). My husband said Daniela offered the best hospitality in the whole of our trip in Sicily (we were given a 'welcome' bottle of local wine along with a tray full of traditional appetizers & a huge breakfast with many selections).
Review 49:Upper Ragusa is excellent
Review 50:Staff were excellent - location was good, and ferry to and from the station was excellent
Review 51:Stayed only one night
Review 52:Daniella and Giovanni
Review 53:Personal attention and location
Review 54:Great hospitality, great location which can oversea Ragusa old city from new part of town.
Review 55:staff very helpful, plenty for breakfast, lovely balcony.
Review 56:Wonderful place, the owners were really helpful and the breakfast was to die for!!!!!!
Review 57:Lovely themed rooms with luxurious appointments. A charming hostess very attentive to all details.
Review 58:Lovely breakfast Cool modern decor Wonderful bed linen & bed Great shower Lovely hosts Quiet location
