Reviews for Iroha Ryokan

Review 1:Friendly greeting upon arrival. Clean room with snacks and hot water for tea (or ramen, if you arrive really late like I did and did not want to venture out into the cold again). Comfortable futon in cozy room.

Review 2:The 'Oyasan' is very kind, hospitable, friendly and warm. Even the room is very small, and should be stoop to take the kimono and the towel, but we are happy to stay in traditional japanese room with tatami. The location very close to the JR station and harbour bridge.

Review 3:The host welcomed us in such a way that we felt like going home. She explained every little thing in details, gave some advices and prepared delicious breakfast for us. The location is just 2 minutes walking from Aomori JR station.

Review 4:The place was a little small with only one bathroom for must be at least 8-10 rooms.

Review 5:Very near the train station (5 minutes walk). Host was a very kind and smiley old lady who cooked us a great traditional Japanese breakfast. She also made some good recommendation of restaurants in the area - 10/10 for her recommendations.

Review 6:NA

Review 7:Convenient location, only 3 minutes walk from Aomori train station. Value for money with wifi and heater but shared clean bathing and toilet facilities. Owner very helpful though can get by with little spoken english. Recommend to try the fresh seafood sashimi breakfast in the nearby morning market at around ¥ 1000 only.

Review 8:Other guests didn't keep the toilet clean.

Review 9:We love the service very much. The owner carried all of our stuff to our room when were out exploring the city. The ryokan provides enough amenities and the location is very near the station. We love this small town a lot.

Review 10:I stayed only one night so didn't even have time to dislike anything. Just the facilities are a bit old but no big issues.

Review 11:Friendly staff, perfect location - just a minute from the railway station and a minute to the maybe not main but big street where you can find a lot of places to eat and the mall with the 100YEN shop there.

Review 12:An excellent 101% overall experience. Lady boss was so hospitable, theonly hostel in our 20days to offer us free welcome drink and chocolates!Tatami flooring and Futon beds were so comfy, even had a tv in our room, nice japanese sleeping gowns. Will surely return to stay here whentravelling from Sapporo to Tokyo in the future.

Review 13:Nothing. English level of staff is low, but we survived just fine!

Review 14:A great stopover point in Aomori. The staff was so kind, even though we spoke very little Japanese. She gave us some famous Aomori apple juice and pointed out good (and bad) places to eat. Definitely stay here! We wished we could have stayed longer :)

Review 15:Made to feel very welcome by the very friendly owner, clean Japanese room with towels, fridge and TV. Good breakfast and a nice chat with the owner, great stay :)

Review 16:Toilet and shower area too small or not as clean looking as most of such public facilities in Japan

Review 17:The owner is hospitable and the mattress on the floor is quite comfy

Review 18:The sound proof of the doors is not working that well. I can hear the kids screaming next door during 730am in the morning.

Review 19:Welcoming staff Clean room and daily cleaning room service Convenience to JR station

Review 20:Our room at 2nd floor. The only bathroom is on the ground floor....

Review 21:Room is very big and convinence. Location is super closed to JR Aomori station. Very near to all store and located in the city centre. Owner very friendly and nice. She also warn and show us on expensive restaurant and not to go there because very expensive.

Review 22:My experience was great overall. First off, the JR Aomori station is pretty much visible Iroha Ryokan. Once I got checked in the owner showed me where the best restaurants were and what to do on a map. She was really helpful with all my questions and made for great company while eating the delicious Japanese breakfast. I was speaking in intermediate Japanese. She didn't speak a lot of English but did her best.

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:The landlady is very sweet and helpful. The ryokan is just 5 minutes from Aomori station, very easy to find. There are many nice restautant nearby.

Review 25:No curtain to prevent morning sunlight streaming into the room.

Review 26:Very near to JR railway station. Simple but comfortable room. Home cooked breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 27:The couple running this Ryokan are a most wonderful and warm-hearted pair of people. They shared their private time, meals and conversation with me during my stay as well as helping me out with directions and suggestions. Their rooms and facilities are kept clean and the food was delicious. Next trip, I might go out of my way to get to Aomori again_because_ of these people.

Review 28:The owner of the Ryokan is a kind and warm man who never falters in making clear that he is there to make your stay a as pleasant and comfortable as is possible. The Ryokan is a modern building, 10 minutes from the station, and the rooms are clean and feature a separate shower and bathroom.

Review 29:Location. I arrived at 8pm in a blizzard, with ~4ft of snow already onthe ground. If you don't get lost, it's <100 yards from thestation. Room was excellent - if you aren't sure how you will likeryokans, don't worry, it's fine. The owners were very friendly!

Review 30:Friendly owner, good location clean rooms up a side street adjacent to the Aomori station. Be careful not to get off at the Shin Aomori! It's at Aomori station which is more centrally located near restaurants etc.

Review 31:- I didn't personally use the bathrooms during my stay, but it did seem like it could get potentially a little crowded if everyone was the type to take a shower in the morning, due to there being only one shared bathroom for showering. This is not a problem for the toilets though. If your group has a mixture of morning and evening showering type people, it shouldn't be a problem. - I rated the Kitchen facilities as only good because I did not use them personally (I wasn't aware they were even an opinion), but when I peeked at it, it seemed clean and open.

Review 32:- Location was excellent, less than five minutes away from Aomori Station by foot, with free parking also available. - Futons were incredibly comfortable, and the room had a very traditional Japanese feel to it. - The bathroom looks very clean and was in a Japanese style of a sitting shower plus bathtub. - Also close to many points of interest such as museums, shopping, and dining. - Staff was friendly, helpful, and very kind. They anticipated our needs before we even thought to ask them.

Review 33:Smoking in ryokans and inns is still permitted in Japan, and it is hard to find a traditional place that is non-smoking so even if you don't smoke, you'll still get a lingering smell.

Review 34:The innkeeper was amazingly helpful and welcoming, and very very sweet. The ryokan was close to the station, and easy to find. My husband and I had a very good night's rest here, and a delicious traditional breakfast in the morning. The bathroom is shared, so the innkeeper let us know when it was available by telephone, and when I thought I had left my passport in the room, she rushed back upstairs to find it. Value for money was amazing, especially if you are after the home experience!

Review 35:Maybe the neighbours next door talked a bit too loud at 22:30. It isn't very sound proof.

Review 36:The landlady made a remarkable effort to communicate in English. The ryokan was heart warming after a long journey, especially when I arrived in the snow. The location is excellent-- 3 minutes from the jr station and easy to find. Breakfast was delicious and copious. Bed is traditional and very comfortable. I even took a bath after a shower.

Review 37:Very nice hostess. Treated us like we were returning home rather than like customers. Close to JR Aomori station Comfy tatami style room. **just be sure to note that this is the Aomori station and NOT Shin Aomori ( shinkansen sation) but only few minutes by train.

Review 38:Just 1 shared bath so long wait if someone takes a long soak in the hot bath, and of course Japanese loved hot baths. The lady in charge was most apologetic for our long wait.

Review 39:Very nice and accommodating lady welcomed us and store our bags till check in time. Local maps and info was available. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 40:There is only one bathroom in ryokan and only one toilet for each floor.

Review 41:The owner is an excellent woman. She arranged breakfast for me as I requested.

Review 42:Awesome place, the two girls from the place despite not speaking english did all in their hands to comunicate. Extremelly clean place and the place was 100% Japanese. Just a Japanese bath would have been perfect after a day of travelling stress.

She also was veryinsistent I take a bath that she had prepared, and it was very relaxing. The internet also works like a charm, and it's great to be able towatch Japanese tv in your room.

Review 89:It wasn't a problem for me, but the 11:00pm curfew might be an issueif you want a night out.

Review 90:Fantastic location, one minute from the station and information office, but on a little side street so pretty quiet. It's close to thewaterfront, the shops and the ferry quay for Shimokita. The lady incharge happily gave me recommendations for sushi restaurants and driedall my washing for me.
