Reviews for Toyama Manten Hotel

Review 1:The male and female baths were very different. Women only have one small bathing pool whereas men have three, including one open air. The access to these should be swapped over.

Review 2:The location is good and easy to access from the train station. The breakfast buffet was good value and tasty.

Review 3:Everything, japanese onsen bath at terrace is top quality, also breakfast, both places you can see the snowy mountains. I can´t believe I got that quality for only 45 dollars. Out of 11 hotels I have been in Japan this is the best. Best hotel ever!

Review 4:Onsen with view is only available to male visitors and not female.

Review 5:The breakfast has good variety. Wifi signal is strong too ! Onsen with view of the mountain is great !

Review 6:Some rooms were too hot due to being on the sunny side of the hotel.

Review 7:Great location near a tram stop. The hotel has free tram tickets for international visitors.

Review 8:The baggage forwarding service to Shinano Omachi. The onsen on the top floor of the hotel with a nice view. Close proximity to Toyama train station via tram.

Review 9:Reception staff looked harried due to the number of guests and were unnecessarily officious and cold.

Review 10:Wasn't too far from the train station. Room was quiet and serviceable.

Review 11:None at all

Review 12:The onsen opens out to the mountain ranges - you can just soak in the bath while admiring the alps. Fantastic. The hotel is also located near the main train station, so there are a lot of good eats around that area.

Review 13:Several authentic Japanese restaurants are located at the Manten Tower next to the hotel with quite good quality. Free parking. Breakfast was good and served at top floor of the hotel with nice view.

Review 14:Although we booked a non-smoking room, somebody in the same floor was smoking and the fume came into our room.

Review 15:It's conveniently located within walking distance of Toyama station. Breakfast buffet was awesome, they served hearty local food including seafood. An onsen bath was located on the top which comes with a mountain view. The room was clean and quiet.

Review 16:A 10 min walk from station - if with luggages need to take a taxi or a tram - hotel gives every guest two vouchers for tram The room was toooooo small even for a solo traveler

Review 17:Well maintained property, nice onsen, friendly staff, you can deliver the luggage from 信濃大町 before your tateyama trip

Review 18:The room was a little awkward for us to keep a stroller in, but otherwise was pretty reasonable. A bit further from the station than other hotels but not terribly far. Probably more of a business hote.

Review 19:Good breakfast and bath, wifi in the room worked pretty well.

Review 20:The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Toyama station, but you can get free team tickets at the front desk so it's not a big deal.

Review 21:The staff was all very helpful and friendly. The lens from my glasses fell out, but the front desk had a screwdriver I could use. They were always prepared and ready to help.

Review 22:Women's bath at the top of the building was a bit disappointing. Little space for big luggage pieces.

Review 23:Centrally located, clean and cozy rooms, kind and helpful staff.

Review 24:We arrived in the last 15 minutes of breakfast and were kicked out on the dot of end of breakfast (maybe just Japanese efficiency...)

Review 25:Friendly, clean and cost effective.

Review 26:Was not easy to find from Toyama Station, trolley drivers hardly speak any English.

Review 27:The river that was next to hotel, relaxing to stroll next to it. The Onsen & breakfast were wonderful,

Review 28:I requested upper-storey room and mountain view, but what I got is the room on the 4th floor and pipes view! I try to understand that it's a Saturday-night stay so there were not much rooms available but I've been disappointed anyway.

Review 29:Onzen.

Review 30:The room is a bit too small.

Review 31:Location is so convenient with a tram station right in front of hotel. The hotel is just 2 stops from Toyama station. Moreover there is an onsen on level 11 for guests to relax.

Review 32:Onsen at hotel is very excellent place and friendly environment. I really enjoy with Onsen when I feel relaxed more and get stress off from exhausting of travelling around a lot..

Review 33:It's a business hotel with free hot spring service, the location is 15 mins from JR Toyama, you need to take a tram to the hotel, cost 200yen/round/person. Not far from dining places, 5 mins walk.

Review 34:The staff in the reception was not good at english, so there was some trouble to communicate. The hair dryer in the room is not good enough. And there was no heating, so it was somewhat cold in the night.

Review 35:The facilities were clean over all, and staffs are kind. The public bath was not that large, but good. Free-Wifi was very convenient to use, because there is no disconnection during phone lock.

Review 36:Nothing in particular, room was a little small compared to some Western hotels but that is standard in Japan

Review 37:convenient, comfortable, excellent spa bath. staff were helpful and contrary to another review did in fact speak some English

Review 38:Female spa no Alpine view and only have 1 type of hotbath, while males spa have Alpine view and different hot/cold bath plus sauna

Review 39:Comfy bed Security access to female spa Excellent breakfast, fresh and good spread of foods Attentive Receptions

Review 40:Nothing.

Review 41:The location was great for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Rooms were spacious and clean and the big onsen with the indoor pool, outdoor pool, sauna room and outdoor cold tub was definitely first class. The delicious and generous dinner and breakfast buffets were a bonus. High recommend.

Review 42:breakfast was good, but nothing special. no sports room, no room to sit for a while outside the bed room. the room of the restaurant is closed after official opening hours, so not usable.

Review 43:hot spring is great! it's on the top floor with view over the city. comfortable bed central location.

Review 44:Hotel was located near the Toyama Castle. We opted to leave our luggage in the train station, visit Toyama and then check in. We enjoyed taking a stroll to Toyama Castle and find delicious restaurants north of that location. Staff was very friendly and eager to help. They handled our luggage wonderfully and made sure it could be delivered to the hotel we booked in Omachi (the other side of the Tateyama Alpine Route). Public hot bath at the end of the way was a treat. Beautiful view from the hot bath.

Review 45:The only reason why I don't give it a 10 score is that the place for hanging clothes in the single room is too small.

Review 46:First and most important: everything unbelievably clean! Excellent facilities!you can enjoy the Onsen on the top floor! After that you can watch TV and drink some beer or milk there! The staff (including cleaning staff) are suuuuuper kind and helpful although their English are not perfect. Single room is small but acceptable.

Review 47:Another non tattoo friendly public bath :(

Review 48:Was en route to the Alpen Route but the transportation to Hotel Tateyama stops at 17:30. Found this spot on Booking.com and decided to spend the night and continue my journey across the mountains in the morning. Friendly staff, clean, non-smoking rooms, breakfast on the top floor, trolley back to Toyama Station within minutes makes this a great stopover whether you're planning on one or in a pinch!

Review 49:Step up into bathroom slightly awkward, soundproofing from other rooms not great, didn't find too many dining options around nearby

Review 50:Fair price, cleanliness good, not too far from JR station, on the tram route

Review 51:The price was to high for what you get.

Review 52:Everything was average. Toyama is business city with not very interesting sites. It's the starting or finishing point of the very nice Japan Alps Route. The price for the room was quite expensive for what you get.

Review 53:cigarette smoking from the restaurant by the lobby; bathroom faucet and window needs to be upgraded;

Review 54:-public bath on top floor -staff -shower water pressure -access to computer and printer/copier/scanner -free wifi and TV

Review 55:Not many shops or facilities adjacent. Poor level of English, but they tried.

Review 56:The Manten was a pretty stock standard Japanese business hotel a short tram ride from Toyama station. The top level spa was large and had a number of features. Also there are some reasonably priced eateries adjacent.

Review 57:Room is typical small Japanese room

Review 58:Shared bath, good location

Review 59:NIce staff at counter check-in, clean room, The restuarants in the building beside the hotel are great as well.
