Reviews for Hotel Villa Carlotta

Review 1:Strangely enough, the hotel climate seemed to be a few degrees colder weather and occasional cloud and rain that were not experienced everywhere else. As we drive out of the area where the hotel is situated, we noticed the temperature and the sun increase! A strange thing that the staff put down to the hotel being in a hilly area. Southern Sicily is very poor and run down with lots of derelict buildings of what once were farms, factories and houses. In some areas it looks like a war torn country as though people have just locked up and left the country, which may be true. This made it difficult to find places to eat out, which is something we enjoy doing on holiday. The further north you go however things start to improve as there is more money, more tourism, more places to eat out, and generally more going on. Would suggest staying north in Palermo perhaps rather than South.

Review 2:The hotel is an ideal base for going out and about and exploring by car, which is what we did. For example, we visited Modica, Catania, and did a tour up Mount Etna (definitely to be recommended as this was the highlight of the trip, a fantastic experience). The hotel has a Michelin star restaurant which is excellent, we are there twice, once as a couple and the other time as a special meal for my parents wedding anniversiary who were staying 40 mins away in the very cute coastal town of Punta Secca (worth a visit there). As the hotel is fairly small, the staff are able to provide a fairly personal touch, which was appreciated, for example, they helped us with a problem we had with our hire car and also helped us with directions and information for various excursions we arranged for ourselves.

Review 3:The feeling was that the hotel was not full speed. Eg. the swimming pool had a large bar that was not open.

Review 4:The whole hotel is new, modern and fancy. The bathroom was sufficient but I missed a bathtub. The decoration was simple but smart. The swimming pool and the area around it was wonderful. Very tiny gym. Good Italian like breakfast, no eggs or warm dishes. Nice staff. We did not tried the restaurant but we could see the people enjoying the dishes at dinner. The location was very well signaled when leaving the main roads.

Review 5:We initially booked a junior suite with the bedroom upstairs under the rafters however as aircon is downstairs the cool air just doesn't go up making it way too hot in summer. We. Asked to be moved to a standard room an the hotel was happy to do this - but still charged us for the junior suite! The shower grout needs a good clean and dose of mould killer and the pillows are very average. Some areas of the hotel are looking a little tired - the timber floors need sanding and polishing and the pool decking needs to be replaced. There are no other restaurants, bars or cafes nearby so you need to drive everywhere and parking can be a real challenge in the towns.

Review 6:Modern hotel with charming elements of the original farm buildings incorporated which give warmth and a sense of history. The hotel is located in the not-so-pretty outskirts of Ragusa, but is well placed so that you look out onto grass and olive trees - the location is great for parking (easy and on-site) and is a good base for exploring Ragusa, Ibla and the surrounding towns. The pool is great for a dip and a rest on a hot day and the lovely young lady who looks after the pool service is exceptional and a real asset to the hotel. Wonderful restaurant (La Fenice) on site with some of the best food we have eaten anywhere at very reasonable prices - highly recommended.

Review 7:The staff were welcoming and went above and beyond. The food was absolutely delicious and served with a flourish and the story behind it. A great welcome to Sicily.

Review 8:In the junior suite with split level it can be a bit warm in summer, as the bedroom is underneath the roof. Air condition is cooling the lower level only. But no problem at all during spring and autumn.

Review 9:Modern design, pool area, auiet area, safe and no cost parking, close to major attractions, very good breakfast. Excellent restaurant for dinner ( unless you prefer to dine out in the old town Ragusa Ibla, next to the Dome area)

Review 10:There was an unannounced wedding the night of our stay, right in front of our room, at the pool area. It would have been nice to have been informed about this loud event up front.

Review 11:A very nice and quiet hotel with a large pool in a garden setting. A delicious breakfast and large, clean rooms. Certainly a place to recommend !

Review 12:Super location on the edge of Ragusa (but felt like the countryside once there) and only 30 mins from Comiso airport. Lovely spacious room. Excellent Michelin star restaurant for dinner (welcome relief from Pizza!), great breakfast and lunch too. Fab pool and v kind staff allowed us to enjoy the pool long after our checkout, so that we had a leisurely day before over evening height home.

Review 13:We had a fabulous stay here. The hotel had a quiet, reserved atmosphere, great for chilling out. The rooms were lovely, modern and very spacious. And the staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant was one of the things that attracted us to the hotel and we weren't disappointed, it was really first class. The fish taster menu is not to be missed.

Review 14:nothing to say

Review 15:Quiet, nice pool area with fresh water. Big and modern rooms with lot of space, clean. Nice an big bathroom. Very friendly staff. Excellent restaurant.

Review 16:Location was really off the grid. Kinda cool but also disconnected. Pool area was not really open during my stay. It was available but it seemed a bit run down. Weather was not so good so I imagine on a really hot sunny day, it wouldn't matter.

Review 17:The room I was in was absolutely great. Huge and thoughtful and very comfortable. Door opening onto grassy pool area yard is a nice touch. Very very helpful staff. Breakfast in the morning was the best if had in two weeks. VERY GOOD FOOD. Hotel was pretty empty during my stay so it was very quiet.

Review 18:Difficult to find.....at least with the 2 sat-navs I used!

Review 19:Friendly welcome even though we arrived late. Fantastic dinner in the restaurant.

Review 24:very good quiet area with a very high quality restaurant and good wine list

Review 25:location

Review 26:The hotel restaurant is very high class and perhaps a bit more expensive than some would wish every evening. But the staff directed us to a cheaper restaurant nearby, so there is always the option to eat out.

Review 27:This is an excellent hotel and very good value for money. It has a pleasant location on the edge of town, secluded and quiet; the staff could not have been more helpful ,the hotel building was first rate and the room was comfortable and very modern in its furnishings. We were sorry to leave as it had all been a splendid experience.

Review 28:Terrible wi-fi, lack lustre breakfast, twins beds pushed together with very little room. The hotel felt a bit tired, the ground needed more maintenance.

Review 29:The overall design of the hotel is nice. Modern, lots of glass, nice decor. Designated car park.

Review 30:Since we ate at the restaurant and told them to put bill on our room, we do not know how much food and wine items cost per Se.

Review 31:Staff very friendly. Breakfast good. Restaurant excellent.

Review 32:The fitness room fell very short of my expectations.Very limited equipment not properly maintained-one treadmill was broken the stationary bike was rusty and the foot strap of one pedal was off the pin of the weights machine kept gettingstuck and no mats

Review 37:room was very pretty, excellent breakfast, nice grounds, out of city so easy to get to.

Review 38:In juniorsuite it was a little bit difficult to adjust the air-condition so, that downstairs and upstairs were in balance, but we managed it

Review 39:Everything: at the breakfast they served meny kind of omelettes, selfmade applejam, perfect croissants etc., juniorsuite was clean and smart, the pool was nice

Review 40:Perfect hotel for visiting Ragusa and surroundings. Very professionalstaff, very welcoming. Rooms are very comfortable, quiet, clean and nicedesign. Very good swimming pool, fantastic breakfast.

Review 41:We were greeted by the friendly and helpful reception staff. After a very long day we needed a drink and were recommended the perfect wine by the exceptional head waiter, this arrived with tasty appetisers.Dinner on both nights was superb and to a very high standard. The gourmet Chefs selection that we enjoyed on our second night was one of the finest meals we have had anywhere and we are very experienced world travellers both on business and pleasure.

Review 42:We spent 2 nights in Hotel Villa Carlotta the hotel is very clean, the staff very helpful and friendly. It is very relaxing being there as it is very peaceful. The structure of the building is modern and feels like being home. keep it up we hope to return in the near future :)

Review 43:Receptionist was not that welcome when we came in and did not seem to be bothered to salute when we were going out for dinner in the evening. On the other hand the breakfast waitress was very kind.
