Reviews for Macquarie University Village
Review 1:The is not marked from culloden Road. I was driven around the village until I meet another traveller who was also looking for the reception there weren't any signs. I wouldn't want to be arriving in the dark.
Review 2:It suited my needs. I had a full day at a conference and just wanted a clean bed and meal which was conveniently located across the road.
Review 3:Inconvenient location. There are stairs so solo travelers with huge and heavy luggage like me may need to think twice.
Review 4:Everything except location & stairs.
Review 5:Kitchen plates and cutlery weren't clean...our only complaint
Review 6:Fantastic accommodation for larger families. Staff were friendly especially as we got lost and required repeated directions
Review 7:After ours assistance was difficult to get a hold of (6pm and onwards). No air conditioning, no ironing board (in room, took to days for reception to get me one), dim room light, a few of the problems.
Review 8:Large common area facilities such as kitchen, dining and living rooms.
Review 9:This was a perfectly adequate place to stay - it has a bed, a shower, and even a desk that you can use so long as your room is in full sunlight. But that's it, and for this money, I feel like you could go somewhere with a few more creature comforts..
Review 10:noise from traffic as the room windows open to the road, hot during the day at summer - no fan on the room though i made a request for one. As a short term guest i would expect dish washing detergent supplied for the first time a new guest moved in.
Review 11:proximity to the Uni, bus stops, cleanlines
Review 12:* Reception poorly signposted * No indication on booking re recept. * Floors were dirty (not vacuumed) * I didn't realise 5 rooms in t/house * No TV in room * No bedside light * Rubbish smell (bins not emptied)
Review 13:* Location and access * Low Price / Cost (still poor value) * Walking distance to Macq Shops
Review 14:The wrong side of the Uni from the train station/shops Room smelled like bad drains, had to leave the window open during the day Spartan, no effort has been put into the accommodation at all No free internet access, and does not get eduroam from campus (charge for internet is $15/week, reasonable but better if it was included) Taxi drivers can't find it
Review 15:Close to Macquarie Uni Cheap, but not cheap enough to be worth it
Review 16:Difficulty finding reception, more signs needed. Room was located in unit with shared lounge/kitchen. As a single lady felt uncomfortable, would have liked more info on layout & location of unit, also parking/walking to unit, prefer front unit. Bathroom cleanliness could be improved & matress very basic!
Review 17:Location, close to Macquarie Hospital and reception staff were very nice. Parking close to unit
Review 18:Couldn't find the reception at all.
Review 19:No internet access included in the price, far away from the city.
Review 20:My privacy.
Review 21:No air conditioning.extremely hot!!!
Review 22:Near campus hub
Review 23:Parking difficult More specific signage needed
Review 24:Friendly Perfect location Basic and functional Cost
Review 25:Not enough cooking utensils and pots
Review 26:Friendly staff
Review 27:Location
Review 28:There was a full kitchen available but no coffee cups or teabags etc . So take your own:)
Review 29:Price and location
Review 30:Floor fan in bedroom was quite dusty and mould in shower
Review 31:Location and fact it had window that opens
Review 32:No enough towels. No aircondition. Share kitchen with 4 other rooms.
Review 33:good receiptor.
Review 34:Location and bedroom with ensuite.
Review 35:I like the private ensuit
Review 36:Lack of any cooking utensils
Review 37:Very easy access to function I attended
Review 38:Common areas of Kitchen, Dining room and Living room were literally stinking and I felt like vomiting.. Can be better maintained...
Review 39:No complaints
Review 40:quite impressed
Review 41:Uncleaned room and bathroom. Dirty and used bedding.
Review 42:Nice location Good size kitchen
Review 43:Nothing that I didn't like...for a campus kind of living, this meets expectations.
Review 44:The proximity to Macquarie University. Ideally suited location-wise for parents who wish to meet up and spend a few days with their children studying in the university or those who are looking for a simple, clean, quiet accommodation far away from the city hub. The room cleaning is done thrice a week, The maintenance staff is efficient. The linen provided is clean and the beds are fairly comfortable. Kitchen facilities are available - a cooking gas stove with 4 burners with a conventional electric oven below, toaster, electric kettle, a refrigerator, microwave oven, some crockery and cutlery. Cooking utensils are also available in some rooms. Feels somewhat like home as there is a dining table with 6 chairs and a lounge area with a TV on which local channels are available. An ironing board and an iron, a pedestal fan are also provided. There is a bus stop (for M41) near by on Waterloo Road which stops near the Macquarie Uni Station and the Shopping Centre. Internet service is available in the room at an extra cost and the connectivity is reasonably good most of the time.
Review 45:After hours check in was v diffucult. If a passing student hadn't taken pity on me and given me contact details for duty tutor, I would probably have spent the first night sleeping under a bush.
Review 46:Asked for a room with 2 single beds, was given a room with a double. They did fix this and gave us an extra room - just lucky one wasavailable in the same unit. Was not made aware that we would be sharingin a unit with other people! The kitchen was disgusting and there was notea or coffee provided - which is usually standard in a room of thisprice. Very expensive for what it was. More info needs to be given onthe type of accommodation that it is. The students in nearby unitspartied loudly very late into the night. Would never had stayed there ifI had known all of this info. Also, I have since found out that I couldhave gotten a nice comfy private properly serviced room at the nearbyTravelodge for $10 cheaper per night!
Review 47:The apartment was not clean and the cleaning staff were not keeping up the standards required. As this was booked through booking.com it should have been a hotel standard. It also was far too noisy.
Review 48:The staff were excellent and very helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. Proximity to the University was perfect.
Review 49:Bathroom floor tiles looked old and the spaces between tiles were a darkgrey - a good scrub would have improved the appearance and cleanlinessof the apartment. We arrived at night and had a lot of trouble findingreception. We tried to call with my mobile but my call was not answered. Also, the price originally was, I thought, $100., but we ended up payingover $120. - not explained. The beds were single beds, though we hadbooked a double room. A second single bed was brought in from anotherroom and it was some 6!" lower than the other.
Review 50:We enjoyed the surroundings - lots of trees which could be seen from ourbedroom window. Also, a good feeling of being connected with auniversity I worked in as a tutor for 7 years.
Review 51:If you do not have a car, you should be updated with the timetable of buses and trains ruining from the village to Sydney. in public holidays and summer less buses run from there. have your sport shoes for an unexpected distance walking from train station to the village, especially after midnight!
Review 52:nice view of nature and new houses, modern apartment with a shared kitchen between 5 rooms. cooking facilities were provided thoughtfully.
Review 53:Crudity of accommodations. Had to ask for towels, no hangers were supplied. Bus service was unreliable. OK in the mornings, unavailable in the evening. Long walk across campus to train into town. Granted, my stay was over a holiday, still there should have been more info about the situation when I booked. Arrival with rolling bags was rescued by security officer who gave me a lift. Otherwise I'd have been completely lost.
Review 54:Rural setting is good.
Review 55:I found return transport after 9pm on the buses somewhat confusing. The only bus to go past our village/reception was the 292. Even the driver was unsure. There was a 293 from somewhere.Having a schedule bus route/timetable would be helpful. Maybe better to get bus home from Epping than Macquarrie centre.
Review 56:After hours staff were tremendous.
Review 57:Hello Booking - very much stress with the booking at the Macquarie University ... but finally no problem with check-in, very helpful majordomo and reception staff, the room suits also my taste ! My annotation : - The reception is hidden in the village ( different from the destination address and no any information about it ) -you have to much traveller experience to find it - The payment option another one as in description - How ever good ending :-D
Review 58:Nice place
Review 59:Tiny bit of mould in the bathroom, but really not a great concern.
Review 60:The view from the room was fabulous - trees and greenery. Also the room was good, and opened onto a shared TV room and kitchen - excellent design. Also closeness to shops and Uni, as well as extra pillows and duvet were great.
Review 61:Was freezing cold overnight as I only had a sheet and cover on the bed and no heating. Ended up sleeping with clothes also, including jacket and hat! More blankets please! Would also have been nice to have a kettle and some crockery/utensils in kitchen so guests could make drinks and food for breakfast.
Review 62:Secure rooms, own bathroom and safe environment to walk at night.
Review 63:The reception is closed on saturday and sundays (you should warn before of your arrival) but on the reservation receipt it's written is open every day from 14:00 to 18:00
Review 64:The room was very clean and furnished
Review 65:No heating!!! I would have brought a heater if I'd known! No lightover the study area to do your work. The shower door was broken anddidn't slide open. The bearing in the bathroom exhaust fan wasbroken and was extremely noisy. I left it off as I feared I would awakethe guests in the ajoining rooms.
Review 66:My course was at the uni and therefore very handy. Also the staffletting me park there until my course was over in the afternoon wasfantastic. Much better than leaving the course at inappropriate times toget a ticket.
Review 67:Relatively expensive for temporary accommodation. I found a dead roach in my bed after discovering a series of bites on my leg. The room was extremely cold at night.
Review 68:It was near Macquarie University, and so good location while I looked for more permanent accommodation. The staff was extremely helpful in extending my stay when I took longer to find permanent accommodation than expected
Review 69:The bathroom was not the cleanest I woke up cold in the night thendiscovered the quilt in the cupboard, I thought it should have been onthe bed to start with
Review 70:Location as it was close to the university
Review 71:Far away from attractions and central Sydney.
Review 72:Reasonable budget student accommodation, single bed tidy and clean. Stayed for 5 nights and not bad. Gas stove, microwave and refrigerator are provided to share with others in same unit with you. I believe for short stay they'll provide units which closer to the reception.
Review 73:The lounge room was in need of a vacuum, the garbage was overflowing; there was no soap. An extra blanket is needed; I was cold. Also the site said that there were cooking facilities; however there were no cups to make a coffee, nor any plates. The fridge had leftovers from the last visitor and there was no knob on the back door.
Review 74:excellent location re hospital; free parking car off the street. The bedroom was clean.
Review 75:Shame there wasn't more utensils provided Sign posting to the village was poor. Had to ask people.
Review 76:Access to a kitchen and internet Ensuite shower Room was decent size
Review 77:The downside of a low price is: - the location: 35 minutes on the train from central Sydney and then a 20 minute walk (or take the bus). But the train service is good and reasonably cheap) - a basic room: this is a University room and so don't expect any luxuries. However access to a kitchen was useful. Towels, toiletries and bedding were provided
Review 78:The price - a very good price for Sydney and especially over the New Year weekend when accommodation prices were exorbitant elsewhere.
Review 79:I was not told that the room had no heating. Insufficient bedding wasprovided for the winter period, so I froze all night! No towels wereprovided. Your information did not tell me where to find reception, Ihad to call security to find out where that was.
Review 80:Convenience to Macquarie University.
Review 81:Pretty spartan, and could be very hot on a bad day.
Review 82:Value. There is very little in this price range. Clean, with kitchen facilities.
Review 83:Did not clarify that full amount would be taken by credit card prior to arrival!!!!!!!!!!
Review 84:Took forever to finalise payment on departure
Review 85:All hour book-in
Review 86:Great location for when I need to stay in Sydney on business.
Review 87:Cleaning staff didn't knock
Review 88:Administrative staff were very helpful
Review 89:Bath towel was not changed in whole week. Dietary supplement of soap etcwas not provided either.
Review 90:Price is low for student
Review 91:Had no issue, only stayed 1 night ,tks
Review 92:On Arrival made feel very welcome.Great customer service .friendly.
Review 93:Limited parking spots.
Review 94:Great price Close to work great for business trip. Quiet during the day ( working nights sleeping during the day.)
Review 95:would have liked at bin in my room would have liked a bedside lamp
Review 96:location handy for me cheap accommodation private/own bathroom parking
Review 97:Shower , only 1 blanket they provide in this cold weather,no 1 clean room
Review 98:Cheap good location
Review 99:No aircon, no proper linen
Review 100:very strong smoke smell. broken chair. 1 very small blanket only. all taps dripped. very dingey.
Review 101:price
Review 102:the cleanliness of the unit and facilities, the contstant noise
Review 103:close to the Uni, friendly RA.
