Reviews for Albergo Villa Nencini
Review 1:Everything was great, as always.
Review 2:We often go to the hotel because we feel genuinely welcomed. The staff are fabulous and the hotel comfortable; a home-from-home experience.
Review 3:Very pleasant place, friendly people, close to the city centre, nice view, great pool. I can recommand it as a basis for a longer Tuscany-descovering holiday.
Review 4:Didn't realise the basic double room we booked didn't have air con so it was very hot Tiny bathroom, more like a wet-room with a make-it-yourself shower cubicle Staff not particularly friendly or welcoming Paying for WiFi that didn't work well anyway
Review 5:Close location to Volterra town (up a steep hill) Beautiful setting with lovely views around valleys Lovely pool area Free parking
Review 6:Fascinating view from the window. Nice bedroom, clean bathroom. Only a few hundred meters far from the old town. Easy to reach the best tuscan cities.
Review 7:WiFi was spotty; it worked on one side of the room but not the other.
Review 8:When we were not in the pool we sat on the pool deck overlooking the Tuscan countryside.
Review 9:Not smoke free, poor breakfast, wifi is 5€ extra, the bathroom was very out dated and the room had carpet.
Review 10:Pool area was nice and near the cozy village of Volterra and still quiet and nice
Review 11:Very squeaky bed. Wi-fi and pool towels at extra cost; this is poor.
Review 12:Lovely pool and shady garden area, yet a short walk (uphill) to an interesting town.
Review 13:Nothing to dislike.
Review 14:The staff are fantastic, as is the restaurant - wonderful, home-cooked Tuscan food. The position; quiet and with amazing views but very close to the town centre. The availability of free parking. The look of the hotel and its grounds.
Review 15:staff is not really helpful and friendly. Hotel is a bit out of date, our bathroom was falling apart. The restaurant is situated in a large concrete basement, not very cosy.
Review 16:hotel is close to the old centre of Volterra and has a free parking. If the weather is ok you can take a swim!
Review 17:Bathroom was small and dated with a pull out shower screen which had to be stowed before the toilet could be used agin. Water pressure was very variable in both the shower and toilet. Needs refreshing to match the bedroom.
Review 18:The view from the bedroom. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Close position to the centre of Volterra. Free Parking available nearby. Good supply of tourist information in the hotel. The owner and staff were charming.
Review 19:No restaurants open anywhere in town and restaurant not open in hotel. Freezing cold in room. Towels were closer to napkins than towels. An uncomfortable experience and too expensive for such a dated hotel.
Review 20:Great blue heron nesting in the courtyard
Review 21:wiFi 5 Euro every 3 hours. It's reported by hotel before booking, but in 2014 it is unacceptable pay for internet... Bathroom not completely clean, expecially the shower.
Review 22:good position very close to Volterra. Employees nice. Breakfast acceptable
Review 23:The hacking cough of the breakfast server which hacked into and around the breakfast food and the fact that one of the eggs that my friend opened was putrid and rotten.
Review 24:Excellent dining recommendation (Ristorante Enoteca Del Duca) from the night staff.
Review 25:Small bathroom with dated fixtures.
Review 26:The on site restaurant was fabulous for dinner and the breakfast was quite good. We especially liked the view from our room and the back patio.
Review 27:All staff speak little or no English. They are pleasant, but there is a notable lack of enthusiasm for the job in hand.
Review 28:Pleasant views from superior rooms. Proximity to city; (though it is a very steep climb if on foot.)
Review 29:The internet is available for €2 an hour, this is a very outdated view of the world now. None available free even in the lounge and other common areas.
Review 30:Nice pool Helpful staff, they even gave us a lift to the bus which would have been like climbing a mineshaft. Nice breakfast Good town advice. From the bus station it's about 900 meters but all down hill. Without bags the walk back up the hill is ok.
Review 31:The hotel is dated and needs a makeover. The breakfast room is not inviting. The espresso machine there is a surprise for Italy. You can get a better espresso at the bar upstairs.
Review 32:The exterior and the grounds are beautiful. The staff was very accommodating. The view is wonderful. The location us very convenient.
Review 33:Albergo Villa Nencina is a wonderful mountain respite high above the Tuscan valley. The panoramic view of the valley below and cloud formations at eye level from my balcony were especially beautiful and worthy of an extended stay. It is located within an easy walk to an ancient 2000+ Entrucan town of Volterra and an avenue to both significant historical Italia and relaxation combined. A wonderful family, couple or single person environment, there is something for everyone. A quiet yet active environment where many enjoy the pool and sun. Feragosto was celebrated during my stay and for a reasonable price a beautiful BBQ with various meats, grilled vegetables and many salads, wines and deserts were offered...as well as live music. The owner was the grill master on this occsssion which lent for a feeling of family tradition. Breakfast provided daily was substantial and staff were kind, welcoming and helpful. Overall, I would love to return same place, same time!
Review 34:The shower door was difficult to swing it opened. A curtain would be easier.
Review 35:The hotel is nicely located on the mountain with great view of Volterra. It is away from the plaza area and very relaxing. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent with quality food and superb wine. Although one waitress was working, it was worth to wait. Staff was friendly and helpful
Review 36:Free parking within walking distance of old walls was great. Staff was very helpful with directions for rest of our trip. Breakfast included lots of wonderful choices.
Review 37:There is nothing we could or would complain about, or that we didn't like.
Review 38:A fantastic position and views; close enough to the town centre for easy access but far enough away for peace at night. Excellent restaurant and efficient, friendly service everywhere in the hotel. Our friends who met us there were so impressed they booked a room. Good breakfast, wine cellar and free parking readily available. A real home from home and we can't wait to go back.
Review 39:The room is not air conditioned, although it did cool off in the evening. The room we had was in the older part of the hotel and needed renovation. The bathroom/shower room was especially poor; extremely small. The electrical outlet had a broken cover and we had to cover it with plastic wrap because the shower was approximately 30 centimeters away and didn't want to take a chance or electrocution. The shower had just a curtain. Remove the beday; there isn't room for it. The price should be much lower for this accommodation.
Review 40:Although it is located outside the town, the walk uphill is fine to Volterra. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.
Review 41:Hasn't been updated since the 60's; television was old as the hills and so tiny you could barely see it and reception on most channels was poor. Carpet was very worn, bathroom was very tiny. Our friends (a couple) in room 18 were very disappointed in their room it was a family room with a set of bunks and quite old and ugly in general. Admittedly we booked very late but had two doubles confirmed but that was not delivered. No view from their room at all. Wifi was not working at all.
Review 42:Location was good; the building itself and the pool area was good. View from room 11 was good. It wouldn't take much to upgrade this into a nice hotel with some lovely furnishings
Review 43:Fabulous spot in beautiful Volterra - we returned for our Silver wedding celebration, having honeymooned in the very same Hotel - everything was perfect - there was even Prosecco waiting in our room for us. The staff were really lovely & couldn't have been kinder, the views of the Tuscan Hills wondrous, room clean and well appointed - even Flecchia the dog made us welcome!
Review 44:Bed hard and rooms very noisy. Breakfast and coffee terrible. Never so bad in hotel.
Review 45:View and location
Review 46:Wonderful place, great pool, amazing view! Nice dinner in the garden.
Review 47:Location, spacius, view, we like volterra, easy access and parking, helppfull stadd
Review 48:Not even ceiling fans! Decor needs an update. Breakfast average.
Review 49:Swimming pool fantastic. Location super. Parking next to hotel.
Review 50:We like the very pleasant atmosphere
Review 51:Ideal for a short stay in Volterra and exploring the local area.
Review 52:Taxi service seemed not quite honest and was taking the long way around. I guess they thought this was the way to make a living.
Review 53:You had to pay 5€ for 3 hours of WiFi. The WiFi was slow. Only place we have stayed without free WiFi.
Review 54:Great breakfast, nice staff. Great value.
Review 55:WiFi was down but used to that Iiving in rural area

Review 70:Hotel was old -fashioned, room was too little for three people.
Review 71:good location
Review 72:The shower compartment really needs up dating. The doors were pretty feeble.
Review 73:The pool was fantastic! Breakfast was very good, lots of choices. Our room was good size
Review 74:The bathrooms were a little dated, but still a good powerful shower.
Review 75:Perfect location just outside the city walls of Voltera, great breakfast (with lots of gluten free options) as well as lovely freshly baked breads and cakes. A lovely smell to wake you up in the morning. Fantastic views of the rolling Tuscan hills and lovely swimming pool.
Review 76:Everything was great!
Review 77:Staff were friendly, courteous and understanding. Location was outside of the walls, but an easy (though uphill) walk to the center of town. Lovely location and very peaceful and restorative surroundings
Review 78:Did not get a fridge in the room asked for one and was told that we had booked the cheap booking . Com room! No fridge, confirmation said we get a fridge. We had two rooms booked were given the handy capped room which had no shower curtain and a small! room on top floor no fridge and bathroom ceiling sloped so low I had to sit on toilet in order not to hit my head and shower was 5 ft 8 inches from floor to ceiling not a good room at all.
Review 79:Shower stall leaked, had some mildew. Very steep driveway, not walkable to city centre if you have mobility issues (but underground city parking was quite reasonable for sightseeing).
Review 80:Wonderful view from our room, lovely gardens & pool. Free parking adjacent to hotel appreciated. Good signage to hotel, sometimes missing in other hilltop towns! City map provided.
Review 81:The shower wasn't the most comfortable one, and in my room there was little useful space. However, there were other rooms quite spacious. Thin walls.
Review 82:The staff was really nice and helpful. Wonderful views, good breakfast and closeness to the city walls.
Review 83:The hotel was very difficult to find at night and we had a navigation device. There was a restaurant advertised, but it was closed so we had to go out to find another one. This actually turned out well as that restaurant was absolutely wonderful, but we found it more or less by accident.
Review 84:The breakfast was good. The bed was also good. The man at the reception desk was very friendly, but he did not speak English as described in the hotel advertisement.
Review 85:Hotel staff were OK-didn't seem to go out of their way to communicate with us.
Review 86:great location- easy walking into the town of Volterra and beautiful view over the valley.
Review 87:The only comment I would make is this is not a hotel for people with walking difficulties as the walk into volterra is quite a steep incline.
Review 88:The location was great with wonderful views. Breakfast was very good The staff were very accomodating as we changed rooms. I do speak a little italian which helped as some of the receptionists did not understand english, but they were very friendly.
Review 89:niente!
Review 90:The Albergo Villa Nencini is very comfortable and generously proportioned hotel. If you want an experience of Italian hospitality in a traditional style this is a great place to stay. The view is great. The hotel has good access to the old town. The pool area is a great place to relax in the hot weather.
Review 91:Uphill street to the center of the city.
Review 92:Decent hotel, 5 minutes by walk to the city walls (and 5 minutes more to the city center),stunning view from the terrace at the countryside and nice swimming pool.
Review 93:Location just outside the city walls. Nice pool but wasn't open in April. Good buffet breakfast
Review 94:Room was cold and moist. Shower door was broken.
Review 95:Breakfast was mundain
Review 96:Breakfast was appalling. Decor drab. Bed rock hard.
Review 97:Location, swimming pool and garden. The prints throughout the hotel.
