Reviews for Casa Cleo

Review 1:None.

Review 2:The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Also very reliable and informative about how to get around rome and important places to visit. Location was very close to metro, very easy to get around rome. Room was clean, and there were some extra blankets and pillows provided in the room.

Review 3:The staff spoke to us mostly in Italian which made communication a bit difficult.

Review 4:The hotel was in a very good location, very close to the Colosseum and from there the rest of the city centre. The staff gave us each a map and showed us the best and quickest routes to see all the sites.

Review 5:There is nothing I can think of.

Review 6:We had excellent landlady and landlord. They went out of their way to cater to our small need in a big way. Very warm family. Location was excellent.

Review 7:The steps to go up to the hostel with my bags was not comfortable..... the stairwell and the building is not quite the best ... but once you get in to the room everything is perfect. further the wifi was not detectable during my stay.

Review 8:The location was great, just in the middle of the main railway/metro station and the Colosseum so its easy both ways.

Review 9:Wonderful location, just few minutes from coliseum; helpful staff, gave us all the directions, offered to drive to the airport; Good value for money

Review 10:Staff English wasn't great so was rather hard to understand but he tried very hard which we thank him for. Have to pay 5c for the lift each time.

Review 11:Great location, plenty of good and well priced restaurants and bars nearby. 10 minute walk to the Colosseum and Romes other amazing attractions. Lift access is great. Good wifi. Free crosiant and coffee/juice at the cafe downstairs. Also 10% off at a nearby restaurant.

Review 12:not very easy to find. the reception is located on the 3rd floor and it would be better to find it according to the street's name and no.

Review 13:staff is good. great location.

Review 14:If you needed to contact the hosts, because they weren´t always there: you had to make an international phone call to their mobile phones! Too many stairs to climb; the lift that was in service was antiquated and dubious.

Review 15:Noisy neighbours made our stay unpleasant, however the hosts were very helpful in helping solve the problem.

Review 16:Old house. It's a bit tricky to get inside (4 keys needed). You need 5 eurocent coins to start the lift (but they are available in your room).

Review 17:It's only a B&B facility, don't expect any more. Air conditioner and TV in the room, Map of Rome is available. Good breakfast (cofee and croissant) included.

Review 18:Staff not always on reception (only when we arrived), so if you have any questions/problems it's not easy to get an answer/resolve. Breakfast is in a cafe not part of the building, a few doors down, that's quite nice, but there's no choice - cornetto and coffee. For this this is good, but maybe not for everyone

Review 19:Casa Cleo was in the perfect location. Staff we arrived were very helpful - limited English, but with my limited Italian we got by! Room/bathroom very clean and comfortable. Good value for money.

Review 20:We had to keep asking for small change during the day so that we can use the small coins for the lifts.

Review 21:Bathroom in our room was close to new or it was newly renovated which was great. Bed was comfortable.

Review 22:Too much noise, from the office. Our room was in front of the office. We had to wait for the owner to come when we arrived. "Breakfast" is a joke

Review 23:Location

Review 24:Nice room, cleaning everyday, good restaurants around and very good location for sightseeing in Rome. The owners let us leave the luggage in their office because we had a late train.

Review 25:There was a big confusion over the early check in we had requested. Instead of just apologising for the mix up and telling us the earliest time we could come back to check in, they went on and on about it and talked as if we were making it up and it was all our fault. It was a very frustrating experience. Despite telling a staff member the night before that we wanted to leave at 11 the next day and leave our bags to be picked up later, and him saying that there would be someone there from 9:30, when we tried to leave at 11 there was no one there, and the reception area was locked. We had to leave our suitcases in the hallway outside our room and hope that someone would be there to let us in when we came back for them. The door to the bathroom didnt close completely, so if someone was using the toilet, someone sitting on the bed would be able to see them! The room was quite cold. There is a lift, but you have to pay 5 cents to use it which is a bit of a hassle, and you have to go up a flight of stairs to get to it anyways.

Review 26:The room was clean, had a safe, was a good size. Wifi worked fine. Good value for money.

Review 27:- Owner talks only Italian language, but everything is manageable as he tries his best to get everyone on board.

Review 28:- Everything room was very nice and clean -Location was outstanding in the center of Rome

Review 29:No 24h reception, thus you have to call for someone to come to open the outside door hand out keys. Elevator only starts at 2nd floor, first 2 high stairs.

Review 30:Nice clean and safe double room with balcony (looking at courtyard, sometimes noisy) in normal appartment building. Walking distance (10 min) from Termini station. Friendly helpfull staff (speaks only Italian). On departure day I could leave luggage and pick up on agreed time.

Review 31:The stairs. 2 1/2 flights to stagger up before you reach the elevator. Makes sure you've got your key to open it & 3 seconds to put your nickel in & quickly press 3 for your floor. Ha ! Great location.Really.

Review 32:The eccentric elevator. Coins and key to operated.

Review 33:The place is very near to all tourist's attractions of Rome. I love the place, clean, safe and in the center. Special thanks to Marta, her husband and her brother in law. Highly recommended. <3

Review 34:Elevator was on second floor so you have to carry luggage up to elevator. That's the only thing negative.

Review 35:I chose this hotel , was half way between the train station and main sites. The manager drew out a great walking tour, we saw all the sites we wanted. Very good chinese restaurant and ATM a couple doors down. Good size room, free internet.

Review 36:Really convenient place in the city, the area is great. Room are clean and service is really good as well. Augusto is really friendly and flexible, I would recommand the stay!

Review 37:No sign outside the place saying it was it accept for a piece of paper the size of a sticky note with its name on it. Breakfast only included a cup of coffee and a croissant 2 doors up the road. It's a good location but after walking around Rome all day you reall don't need to come back and then walk 2 flights of stairs to get to the lift but coming down you have to pay five cents "Which were gladly provided by the owner" to get back down in the lift. I will leave others to make their own decisions.

Review 38:A decent shower and a decent bed.

Review 39:Need to pay coins to start the lift, breakfast is outside in a bar , the coupon does not have any indication, it is not easy yo guess which bar is their contracted one.

Review 40:Very Good tourists information, well located near subway stations, confortable bed and clean. Elevator on the second floor witch needs coins to function, but they gave us the coins. Breakfast included in a coffee-Shop very close. Delicious croissant!

Review 41:This place was situated in easy walking distance to most sites and 10 mins from main train station. If you want a great meal try restaurant opposite no extra charges.

Review 42:Lots of stairs! Be prepared to climb.

Review 43:The location was perfect - just down the road from Termini (transfer to airport from here) and further along was the Colisseum! Nearby some great winebars and cute shops. Clean bathroom and fully functioning AC :)

Review 44:It's a bed and breakfast, not a hotel, so if you book last minute the owner may not be there when you show up, as was the case for us (due to reasons beyond our control, we booked just 90 minutes before arriving). Luckily, after a phone call it only took about 10 minutes for the owner to show up and let us in, so this is a minor gripe. The only other thing is that the lift is coin operated (5 cents) so you have to make sure you always have some small coins on you, or walk up 4 floors. However, the owner gave us a handful of 5 cent coins the first night, so again, not a big deal.

Review 45:Location is excellent as it's just a block to the nearest metro (Cavour), and a 10 minute walk to either the main metro station (Termini) or the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The outside doesn't look like much, but don't be fooled; the inside feels brand new with nice beds, a spacious and updated bathroom, good wi-fi and ice cold air conditioning. Best of all was the owner (whose name I didn't catch), who went out of his way to provide us with whatever we needed. He even spent 10+ minutes scrawling on a map of Rome, not only telling us where we should go, but also drawing the best routes to take along the way. Overall, I couldn't be happier with Casa Cleo and if I'm ever in Rome again, this is where I'm staying.

Review 46:We didn't like the stairs because they are too steep and you can't take a lift from up the stairs to the ground floor. Also breakfast was not good at all. Only 1 croissant and cappuccino and it was so bad for our children who liked hot drinking chocolate.

Review 47:The hotel is very close to the city central station, the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica and the colloseum..

Review 48:The hotel is hided in a building with just a little sign outside the door, that makes you hard to find if you are first time to come. The facilities are just fine and are a little bit old. The breakfast is too little and is just better than nothing.

Review 49:The location is fine and it's just need 10 mins to walk from the roma termeni. It also takes 15 minutes to walk to the colosseum.

Review 50:Casa Cleo is located on the 4th floor but the floors 0 thru 2 are dimly lit and on the dirty side. However, once you get to the 4th floor (floor 3) everything is clean and newly refurbished. No complaints at all.

Review 51:Clean and recently refurbished room, great housekeeping each day. Friendly people at the breakfast bar.

Review 52:Make sure you email your time of arrival, because the staff is not always present. The water in the bathroom drained extremely slow.

Review 53:Dont be fooled by the outside appearence of this building, because inside is beautiful. Good location for walking to most sites. I only used the metro once, which is also close, to go to st. Peters. The bed was ridiculously comfortable: The best sleep I have had in a while.

Review 54:The main complaint was how hard it was to find Casa Cleo from the street, since it is located like an older apartment that you buzz into instead of a sign outside. Otherwise we didn't have a problem using the stairs since we traveled lightly, but some people might - the elevator cost a few cents.

Review 55:The family that runs the bed and breakfast was very helpful. The wifi connection was also one of the stronger ones we had while traveling around Europe. Overall the place was excellent and very homey feeling, with a good location and safe setting.

Review 56:Our double bed was 2 beds pushed together. Not really a big deal though just would have bee nicer to have a double.

Review 57:Location was amazing. So close to everything. The property is very quiet at night. There was no noise from outside at all. Augusta was excellent and extremely helpful.

Review 58:Bathroom: are very small but clean Breakfast: just a croissant and capucinno...should be considerably more

Review 59:Location: excellent....close the Roma Termini (just 10 minutes walk) but not too close because the area around the station is not very safe at night. Ideally located to visit all the key sites by foot...u can even walk to Vatican in about 45-50 min. Rooms: are basic but clean.

Review 60:Bedroom walls were a bit thin, I was woken up by a noisy neighbour one night. Didn't bother me enough to cause a problem though.

Review 61:Excellent location being a short walk to the metro B line, Termini (for airport trains or crossing onto the metro A line), and the ancient part of the city. I could get everywhere I wanted quite easily. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast (served in a bar a couple of doors further up the street) wasn't large but was tasty - I'm now a chocolate croissant addict! No noise from the street or surrounding area outside the B&B. Being given keys to all doors so I could come and go at my leisure was appreciated.

Review 62:toilet smelt

Review 63:great customer service. hospitality

Review 64:All the dingy stairs, glass door to the bathroom

Review 65:Location was good, bed was comfortable, there was a safe.

Review 66:Central and near train station.

Review 67:Breakfast is not suitable. Elevator with coins. Carrying my bag two floors to reach to the elevator.

Review 68:Very good location, clean room and bathroom and very friendly staff.

Review 69:Bathroom&WC has curtain instead of a door.

Review 70:lift work only on coins

Review 71:close to the center

Review 72:No tea/coffee making equipment in room.

Review 73:Location and lift to 3rd floor, our friends were on the 5th floor in an apartment without a lift.

Review 74:Breakfast wasn't up to expectations. Not full

Review 75:Everything

Review 76:We could leave our luggage in the room before check-in and enjoyed traveling to Napoli.

Review 77:50 steps to the elevator. No staff on duty except for a few hours. Internet did not work at all one day of the stay.

Review 78:Great location. Clean room.

Review 79:Staff not exist

Review 80:Internet excellent location near line red and blu excellenet

Review 81:Not ease to find.

Review 82:The room was clean. The location was perfect. Surprisingly it was not noisy so we could sleep well. Price was reasonable.

Review 83:Ideal location. Augusto is a pleasant and helpful host.

Review 84:Finding our room was difficult. Elevator and hallways not pleasant.

Review 85:Room was adequate.

Review 86:Nice location, close to Colosseum and Termini station. Frendly owner, always there to help. Recommend for all young travelers.

Review 87:It didn't look like much from the outside but the room was very comfortable, clean and located close to the colosseum.

Review 88:Kahvaltisi berbat.

Review 89:Otelin konumu ve odalar cok guzel.

Review 90:The breakfast was poor. Just one croissant and a coffee.

Review 91:Good location, clean rooms.

Review 92:There is NO written sign on the street which directs you to CASA CLEO. We had difficulty in finding the place. Had to ask people around, rang the bell and wait outside because the door was closed. They should put a small but visible hoarding outside the building which can hold the name (CASA CLEO) and contact numbers.

Review 93:Staff, Value for Money, Cleanliness, and the location is also not too far.

Review 94:Lack of light in the room. People who work in this B&B are rarely there so we had to call them by phone and wait 15-20 min for someone to arrive.

Review 95:The location is excellent, rooms are quiet

Review 96:One elevator trip will cost you 5 cents (hostel is on the 3 floor), only one 5-cent coin can be accepted; Reception is not open all the time, however, staff can be reached by phone (for me it was not a problem, I didn't have any special issues); Staff speaks English not excellent but understandable enough

Review 97:Very friendly and helpful staff; Clean and cosy room and bathroom; Breakfast in an Italian cafe downstairs (coffee with croissant); Perfect value for money accommodation; Location close to subway station Cavour, 15-20 minutes walk from Colosseum and Termini station. I would be happy to stay at Casa Cleo again. The hostel is highly recommended.

Review 98:Entrance and stairways in serious need of refurbishment. Bathroom separated from bedroom only by a curtain - ok if travelling with a VERY close friend.

Review 99:Great location for access to major sites, the managers welcome was great, very clean bathroom and room,

Review 100:There was no fridge in the room, and that can be a bit of a problem especially if you bring food from home or if you buy something from Rome. (There is a possibility to keep food in the fridge from the bar where breakfast is served but I did not ask there to see if it is true). Breakfast is only a croissant and a cup of coffee. Would have loved something more consistent. ;)

Review 101:The staff is very friendly and gave us some tips on which attractions to visit. The location is excellent. Situated on via Cavour, at 10 minutes walk from Termini station. It is close to the Colosseum (10 mins walk) and Foro Imperiali and Piazza Venezia. Via Cavour is a big street, well lighted at night, felt safe returning at Casa Cleo at 11pm. The room, situated at the 3rd floor, was clean and comfy. It had TV, free Wifi, clean towels, hair dryer, safe. The building has an elevator (each ride costs 5 euro cents - the staff gave us a few coins when we checked in - but it works with any coin that has the same size). There was no carpet in the room (easier to clean and disinfect) :)

Review 102:The bathroom has specific smell. But it's common to old Roma buildings I guess. However it didn't annoyed me much.

Review 103:Small, compact, everything you need. It is not as clean as a hotel, but my level of comfort was met. Very helpful staff - you can ask anything you need, and if your flight is in the evening - they will let you put a luggage and even take few minutes in your old room for refreshing before the flight - that was really thoughtful. The location is neither very good nor bad. If you want to travel by metro - it's super close located to metro station (1-2 minutes). termini is like 5 minutes walk. Trastevere is like 20-30 minutes walk. Roman Forums is 10 minutes walk.

Review 104:No reception which is not great when arriving late etc. Breakfast is at the café next door which only offers croissants of very average quality and no much other options.

Review 105:Great location. 10 min from Colisseum with plenty of good restaurants around the area. Walk-able distance from all strategic sites. Room and bathroom extremely clean. Good beds.

Review 106:You have to pay for elevator(5 cents), but the guy will give you some coins to use it. In the last day when we were leaving early in the morning the elevator was not working since another coin jammed the input!! we had to come down by stairs with suitcases. The room was big enough but the bathroom was small.

Review 107:We asked the guy for an electrical kettle and he agve us one. The breakfast is coffee with a cake(typical Italian). The location is good, close to termini train station and coloseum.

Review 108:Paying for a lift that only goes from the 2nd floor,so you have to walk up a lot of steps to start with. Bad news with suitcases. No door on bathroom, only a curtain. Very poor as bathroom opens directly into bedroom. Strong smell of cigarette smoke outside our room especially in the morning. Yuk. Breakfast pathetic. One coffee and one criossant only and the coffee was not hot. No juice or fruit.

Review 109:Location. Size of room. Clean.

Review 110:I had red the reviews, so knew what to expect, so no unpleasant surprises.

Review 111:Good location. Not that close to the main objects (but still very walkable), but really close to Termini station. Very good mattress. Wasn't noisy , despite windw facing the street.

Review 112:not easy to find the entrance to the building, than the apartment is on the third floor, the elevator demands payment of 5 cents (but the staff will give you the coins). the hot water is not too hot

Review 113:the location, which is very close to Termini central station, walking distance from the Coliseum, and the staff. strong WI FI. Apartments usually don't give you breakfast, here you get coffee + cake

Review 114:the inside of the apartment building (outside of the bnb) is quite eerie, although once you are inside the bnb, it feels like home.

Review 115:we arrived on the location on a low season, the building was very easy to find, if you already have a map, on a bog street, but don't expect a hotel that is seen from the street. it is an apartment building. there is an elevator, although you need 5 cents every time you get on it. the room is so beautiful, clean, and the staff upgraded us for free to a room with a bathroom inside.

Review 116:the TV wasnt working in our room and i told them about it but it was never fixed.

Review 117:when we first arrive we thought to leave as it looked weird from outside, old building etc.. but the room was big, newly renovated, bathroom was nice, very clean, comfortable bed. location is Great! so dont worry when you reach there, room itself is very nice :)

Review 118:Perfect location, in the very center of Rome, very clean room and bathroom. The WiFi works really fast. For that price, Casa Cleo was the best choice, and we got a little breakfast, too. Thank you!

Review 119:There is no fridge, neither in the room nor at reception. The rooms are located on the 3rd floor of a conversion building and there is no clear sign at the entrance. Look for the street number on the door.

Review 120:The location was quite good within easy reach of Termini station and tourist attractions.

Review 121:The bathroom had no door just a curtain. So the air in the room was humid after having a shower. It's not good if it is too cold to open the window.

Review 122:Good location for this price.

Review 123:Breakfast is served in a different place. Here are just a croissant and tea or coffee. Also bad service.

Review 124:The business owner Mr. Augustus sympathetic and helpful. Comfortable bed. Clean room and bathroom. Near the city center.

Review 125:The lights in the bedroom weren't too bright. The first impression of the building is not good.

Review 126:The bathroom is great, super clean and comfortable.

Review 127:Neighbours were noisy but not much you can do about that. They quietened down pretty early.

Review 128:Great location and only a 10 minute walk to the Colosseum or hop on/hop off bus stop. Lots of restaurants and shops on the street. Breakfast was an amazing croissant and a coffee. The croissants we had were filled with nutella :)

Review 129:1) The long flights of stairs2) The fact that I had to call the host in order to come and let us in! 3) No 24h reception 4) The elevator in which we had to put a 5 cent coin in order to use it! 5) The horrible condition of the apartment building.

Review 130:The room was great. Really clean and simple.

Review 131:The hotel doen't have the right number at the door or even a sign. I was lost a little while and then I had to go up 4 floors with my luggage cause you couldn't use the elevator until they gave me a key, but it was uncomfortable. The shower was tricky but nothing major.

Review 132:Location is fantastic! The metro station is 5 minutes away, you have a bus station very close also and if you walk about 10 minutes you will see the Coliseum and then you can walk around everywhere to see the beautiful places in Rome. The room was very spacious.

Review 133:breakfast was ok but could be improved, noise of building very loud, earplugs were necessary

Review 134:staff were great, location brilliant, room was fine and clean, hasslefree checking in and out
