Reviews for Hotel Molino D'Era

Review 1:Convenient location, but a little noisy. Poor wifi connections if any, but a nice clean room with minimal staffing...good food services and excellent breakfast.

Review 2:Location on a busy road and a bit tricky to find. Bridge over the river is a good landmark only 200 metres away.

Review 3:Family owned, superb food and lovely grounds.

Review 4:Wifi leaves something to be desired, but that's not uncommon in smaller B&B's in Italia. It was better than our last 3 hotels though....so.

Review 5:Fantastic rooms and bed. Bathroom was well equipped and just as pictured. Staff was amazing and courteous. The hotel is about 20 minutes from downtown by bus, but there are many, many lines intersecting nearby. Great restaurants in the neighborhood, and the breakfast is served by a small coffee shop just next door (except Sunday when it's another around the corner).

Review 6:no air conditioner, no WI-FI

Review 7:this hotel suggests the most tasty & rich breakfast we've had in I taly, great & helpful staff, big & comfortable rooms.

Review 8:The owner is a wonderful, vibrant and charming lady. The staff are excellent. The restaurant is fabulous, we ended up eating there both evenings of our stay. Highly recommend staying here and close to Volterra

Review 9:The air conditioning wasn't working at night. We were very uncomfortable during the night. We didn't complain the next morning because we only stayed one night.

Review 10:The place was nice and easy to find. Dinner at night was delicious though a bit expensive.

Review 11:My dinner choice was disappointing. But the restaurant was beautifully decorated. Very romantic.

Review 12:Easy drive from Pisa and my first Tuscany country house experience. I was overjoyed by the garden, the large room and rural setting. Quiet room facing the garden. It is about 6 miles from Volterra on pretty meandering road. Breakfast had great variety and yummy fresh strawberries.

Review 13:Rooms were clean and well equipped, you even got tea making facilities. The restaurant is one of the best I have been in and the wine list is good. Breakfast was superb. 10 mins drive to Volterra and free parking.

Review 14:I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Molino d’Era…for several different reasons.Let me explain my perspective, and perhaps it will comport with what you look for in a country hotel, too…Location: I enjoy visiting cities when I’m on holiday, but when given the chance, I usually prefer to find a place to stay outside the urban area or in the countryside, but within striking distance of area points of interest. Molina d’Era is situated in perfect proximity to many of the area’s attractions…San Gimignano, Volterra, the Abbey at San Galgano, the Chianti region, even Massa Marittima (which I would heartily recommend to visit). All these places are from less than an hour’s drive to maybe 90 minutes through the beautiful Tuscan countryside, on nice, well-paved secondary roads.Beautiful, peaceful, comfortable surroundings: The hotel has a large, complimentary parking lot and extensive gardens with outdoor seating and tables. One really gets the feeling of spaciousness, not only outside but inside the buildings as well. All the public spaces are extremely open and airy with immensely high ceilings. My guest room was very large, with more than adequate storage space; the bathroom was spacious and had up-to-date fittings. The huge windows in the room had shutters and opened onto a view of the gardens. When I arrived at Molina d’Era, I was actually offered several room keys and invited to visit the rooms and make a choice. For me, that was a bit of a throw-back to the way it used to be, and I appreciated the gesture very much.Amazing restaurant: The breakfast which was included in my tariff was extensive, combining both the traditional sweet Italian morning meal and the meats, cheeses, and eggs one might expect to find in northern Europe or North America. Lots of choices, even in coffee, where you could have as much drip (American style) coffee as you wished or you could order espresso-based beverages.I also took several evening meals at the hotel’s restaurant.

Review 15:I have read a lot of very good comments regarding the restaurant. But we were very disappointed with the quality of the meal We were also disappointed by the room it was close to the road so it was very noisy with the cars driving besides... and the room was for disabled person so the bathroom was like an hospital bathroom...

Review 16:The staff was very friendly and available the breakfast was very good and a lot of choices

Review 17:Difficult to locate, although we did see some signs on the road. Once there, no negatives.

Review 18:Nice facilities on expansive grounds. Large, comfortable, and quiet rooms. Good value, and good breakfast.

Review 19:The property was fine except limited hours for front desk service and only the staff at the front desk were not that nice. Excellent service in the restaurant and the food was lovely.

Review 20:Friendly staff, perfect situated near Volterra, excellent restaurant

Review 21:Country road can be noisy at times

Review 22:Central location. Exellent food, local specialities from local produce. Exellent service.

Review 23:bit hard to find with gps, but than its just too easy

Review 24:Best stuff, great owners, great restaurant, highly recommended!!

Review 25:Good food at the restaurant!

Review 26:Nothing.

Review 27:Everything.

Review 28:Very helpful and friendly staff, restaurant was good, nice outlook. Room was spacious and clean. Wifi worked.

Review 29:An excellent dinner and a comfortable night.

Review 30:very noisy rooms overlooking the street

Review 31:breakfast excellent

Review 32:The menu for dinner could be simplified and reduced in choice, but food excellent

Review 33:Terrific breakfast, better than most

Review 34:Bedroom near road

Review 35:The hotel has a beautiful garden. Restaurant is very good. Very quiet and well located if you travel by car.

Review 36:Wonderful restaurant, great location

Review 37:Poor wifi, rooms bit dark

Review 38:Friendly people, good food good atmosphere

Review 39:Location, relaxation space in garden, really good restaurant

Review 40:One of the most hospitable and friendly hotels that we have ever stayed at. The restaurant is extremely good value and the food was excellent.

Review 41:All member of the staff was very kind, we vere really enjoyed these days in the hotel.

Review 42:Not really a negative comment, more a word of advice as this was completely MY FAULT and not the hotel's!....the restaurant is shut on a Tuesday and there's nowhere else around to get food unless you want to drive into Volterra. I had so looked forward to my meal after an excellent one there on my previous visit which I thought had also been on a Tuesday but in fact was on a Monday!

Review 43:This was my second stay at Hotel Molino d'Era, mainly chosen because of its location; it's about a 40 minute drive from Pisa airport, giving you enough time to get used to a hire car and giving you an excellent starting off point for visiting southern Tuscany. Although on the main road, it's in a lovely peaceful spot close to the river. It has a very good restaurant and also serves an excellent breakfast spread. I would certainly visit again but make sure I've checked the restaurant opening times.....

Review 44:Warm service, family friendly, fantastic courtyard restaurant, lovely grounds / picnic areas. Ideal location for exploring Volterra and San Gigimagno, and also close to Pisa... we flew into Pisa, stayed here for 2 nights, then continued on to Chianti. Excellent value. We had breakfast-included and it was really great -- the best included-breakfast option we had in our 2 weeks in Tuscany.

Review 45:There was no heat an it was very chilly. The elevator did not work. The wifi internet connection did not work in the rooms most of the time.

Review 46:Exellent location in the Tuscan countryside. Very friendly staff, willing to help. Excellent restaurant with superb food. Availability of parking.

Review 47:I didn't like having to leave! :-)

Review 48:Very friendly and accommodating staff. My husband forgot his computer cord and needed to submit an assignment for an online course. They graciously allowed him to use the desk computer. Dinner In The restaurant was delicious. Breakfast hearty and equally yummy. I loved this hotel.

Review 49:This hotel is build right next to a very busy road.If you are looking for a quite Tuscan retreat please do not stay here. The noise is disturbing. The hotel is in dire need of restoration and leadership.

Review 50:It is a bit far from Volterra. This is offset by the huge parking site.

Review 51:the staff was very helpful when we had trouble finding the hotel. Their restaurant is a relaxing and pretty setting. Also, you can have drinks, coffee, etc in the garden.

Review 52:We had a great time at Hotel Molino D Era. Irma and her staff were excellent. We were made to feel very welcome. The food is excellent and of high standard. It's a great location for exploring the area, especially if you are riding motor bikes as we were, Irma was very helpful in the organising of the transport of one of our bikes to Pisa, as it had died, made it so much easier for us

Review 53:Restaurant was closed the nite we stayed and we had read such great reviews, so were disappointed. Very difficult to find.

Review 54:Rooms clean and helpful staff

Review 55:The lobby could use a decorating makeover.

Review 56:Seemed to be family run. Nicely off the beat and path. Clean with anexcellent restaurant that had outside patio seating and live music. Thebest breakfast we ate are two weeks in Italy! Perfectly priced.

Review 57:Nice hotel with a nice restaurant, fairly close to Voltera and the countryside of Tuskany. The staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast was very rich and complete.

Review 58:Once again another lovely evening meal, bed and breakfast all presented and served by the wonderful staff at the hotel. We have stayed on three occasions and will definitely return again.

Review 59:Beautiful place in quite area near Volterra. Clean rooms, good breakfasts which you can enjoy in the garden and really good and not expensive dinners. Also you have to love their handmade menus and keychains!

Review 60:The highway noise was a bit loud--I slept with earplugs in. Also, the bathroom door did not close properly and the lock stuck--I was trapped for a time until I could coax it to unlock again.

Review 61:Our room was comfortable and unique; the food was wonderful and wine available by the glass; there was a trampoline and a Jack Russell puppy! I got to practice my German with the other guests.

Review 62:Air conditioning was quite loud so not ideal for a light sleeper

Review 63:Lovely location. Nice people. English spoken. Incredible food with very generous portions!

Review 64:Everything was wonderful. The friendly staff was also helpful in recommending nearby sites to see and activities to do. It was very clean and our room was quaint as well as comfortable. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, the menu elaborate and it was not expensive. We enjoyed our dinner and the ambiance was quite lovely (good service). The breakfast was a very elaborate spread which included just about everything....eggs, pastries, fruits (& fruit salad), International cheeses, cold cuts, variety of: cereals/breads/jam/yogurts/ juices/bottled water/delicious coffee, etc....wonderful way to start the day.....Good location in Tuscany. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to Tuscany. Mr. & Mrs. Conte/Florida/USA

Review 65:The shower in the room is leaking badly when you shower. It doesn't dry over night which is annoying. We really didn't like an idea of stepping into a puddle in the middle of the night. We stayed two nights and ate at the restaurant. Food and service were very nice the first night but the second night they had an event going on and the service was terrible, food was below average ( although we were told they had a different chef that night). We didn't enjoy our meal at all and had to send one dish back which came back pretty much the same. Also food overall is extremely oily but some people prefer it that way, we are more of a healthy style.

Review 66:This hotel is not in Volterra, it's about 20min drive from Volterra which is not a problem if you have a car. It has a nice garden to relax and a playground for kids. Hotel staff are very nice although because they run a restaurant they are always busy and no one is ever at the reception. They are very helpful. Breakfast is very nice.

Review 67:We stayed three nights in May at the Hotel Molino D'Era and loved everything about the hotel. It was our favorite during our month long tour in Italy. Our room and bathroom were spacious, immaculate and comfortable. The hotel has an extensive garden area and a beautiful patio with lounge chairs. The parking area is huge. Breakfasts and dinners at the hotel were superb and the restaurant is popular with guests and locals alike. We were absolutely thrilled with every meal as were all the other guests with whom we spoke. Irma and her staff are friendly and helpful offering advice on the hotel and sites to see in the immediate area. We of course visited nearby Volterra and San Gimignano and also went to Certaldo Alto, recommended by Irma, and we enjoyed it very much. We highly recommend Hotel Molino to people with a car driving through beautiful Tuscany.

Review 68:The hotel is located next to a large street (however the room itself was quiet). It didn't appeal to us because it was rather big and not very cozy (it looked a bit like a retirement home).

Review 69:There was a beautifull garden. The rooms were spacious and clean.

Review 70:My partner is disabled and the bathroom facilities were not brilliant although Irma provided a stool for the shower. There needed to be grab handles on the walls.

Review 71:All the family were most welcming and Irma was most solicitous to our needs. We went in April which was a lovely time to go.

Review 72:Beautiful setting with nice outdoor sitting area. Excellent breakfast and dinners. Helpful staff.

Review 73:Very clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast, lovely gardens and very fine restaurant.

Review 74:The restaurant served beautiful evening meals and the breakfast offered a good selection. The room was big and comfortable.

Review 82:Very friendly family run hotel in a great country setting. Good breakfast.

Review 83:The staff and the food, really excellent?

Review 84:I didn't like anything! Especially I did not like the bad smell inside and the poor breakfast.

Review 85:Only the garden!
