Reviews for Pension Riedl

Review 1:The bathroom had a problem with the drain which made us feel uneasy about taking a shower. The bed sheets were not very clean, or I should say old and damaged. The breakfast is not included in the price.

Review 2:The staff was very helpful and Always smiling, making you feel welcome. The hotel is easy to reach with public transport. The room was tidy and cute, with a high ceiling since the hotel is placed in a beautiful 19th century building. There was free wifi. They'd placed chocolate waffles and candies in our room , plus a set of hot beverages which we appreciated a lot. Over all , it was a nice spot to stay for a weekend.

Review 3:The pension is not well marked and one needs to really be sure of the address.

Review 4:Located within the old city in one of the old buildings, the entrance hallway is quite exquisite. Finding the hotel is a problem. The rooms are not too spacious, however clean.

Review 5:The room wasn't small but it was full of furniture. It's like an apartment and there is no staff at night.

Review 6:It was pretty clean, the staff was polite and let us leave the luggage until late at night. It had a nice table with coffee, tea and an electric kettle.

Review 7:Nothing to dislike.

Review 8:Very central, beautiful building. They did not have single beds but made up the bed settees without complaint. Slept like a log. Staff spoke perfect English, always a bonus. The Underground garage so convenient and Pension Riedl has special rate for this. Really good restaurants within 5-10 mins walking distance, always a good thing after a day siteseeing. Highly recommended Griechenbeisl, Fleischmarkt 11, but book unless you want to queue!

Review 9:Sharing a loo was a pain as it was across reception. The shower cubicle was welcome in the room, but it was very easy to flood the floor!

Review 10:Very helpful staff, tiny but spotless room with decent facilities. Location is brilliant, on the inner ring and near the start of the tram tour for the ring.

Review 11:lack of hospitality and friendliness. not even a smile when we arrived...

Review 12:centrally located in a very nice building, easy to access, clean and proper, large room

Review 13:We were not sure how to enter the hotel. It is in a locked down building on the 4th floor and no way to contact the reception desk. A person who lived there came out and let us in and told us how to get to the 4th floor. Without her help we would still be outside now. We received an outside door code and then it was fine. Staff is not around in the afternoon and that is when we arrived. Better signage should be displayed on the outside of the building with information etc.

Review 14:Location was good..close to a major hop-on-hop-off tour terminal and sites. It was clean. The breakfast was adequate. Staff was very helpful.

Review 15:Vienna weather was hot and there was neither air conditioner nor fan in room.

Review 16:Hotel reception was on break but they gave me door code on phone and my keys were on reception desk.

Review 17:Reception staff returns his home at 20:00. So In case you arrive at Vienna after 20:00, It is difficult to open Entrance door at ground floor. I stayed 2 night, but it did not clean room and not change towels.

Review 18:Staff answered me kindly, when I asked some questions and requests.

Review 19:no Aircond, I am not sure that will be comfortable during summer time

Review 20:the staffs are VERY helpful, they did send me email prior my arrival to check time for me to check in, i arrived earlier and the room is available

Review 21:Expensive parking. Small bathroom, the sink is in the room, not in the bathroom. If the elevator is broken you have to climb the stairs until the 4th floor.

Review 22:Good location. Nice personel.

Review 23:just make sure you take note of the check-in hours. I missed those details and had to wait an hour to be checked in. but it's a gorgeous city and location to relax and wait in :)

Review 24:spacious room. clean and safe. great value for money, especially given the location and close proximity to everything, including public transport. there are trams and trains within 5-10min walk. post office 5mins walk away, and a few bakeries and other delights nearby also. would stay here again.

Review 25:On booking it says the place has parking. After confirmation it says it's a paid parking nearby, that cost 21 Eu a day. On exit it was 35Eu. External toilet is on other side of the facility, which was a inconvenient.

Review 26:Location was excellent, room was very comfortable and clean, staff was friendly and helpful

Review 27:hotel and room are old and poor. wifi connection was not working well. we heard the noise in canalisation each time other room use water. I'd say it's 2 stars hotel more than 3 stars.

Review 28:location is good. close to 2 subway station.

Review 29:The pension is in a grand building but the interior decor was disappointing especially in dining room.

Review 30:Staff were very friendly and helpful Great location for visiting sites in Vienna Comfortable Good breakfasts

Review 31:the building itself is a little bit hard to find also not very easy to access, but over its okay

Review 32:very nice room, friendly staff, simple check in and out process, while the location is good enough (10 mins walk to St Stephen cathedral aka city centre)

Review 33:The owner does not like to be there, doesn't like guests and showed it!! Breakfast was very basic but is optional. Intermittent wifi. Tea and capuccinno making facilities, not coffee. Need to buy the breakfast if want to have a coffee. Take a jar or buy one in shop nearby. Not one English language channel on the very old TV. No phone to reception.

Review 34:Short distance from sights, trams, metro, restaurants. Very large room in traditional building.

Review 35:No parking at pension but few public parking around, poor breakfast .... Noise water pump when using shower....

Review 36:Good situation, 10 min walk from St Stephen place , clean bedroom & good rate ..

Review 37:The room was compact, and shower room was also compact, but manageable for 2 nights. We seemed to have a small infestation of mini ants in the room. There were a few things that could easily make a good change such as ensuring all electric sockets are secured to wall, cleaning boot marks on white furniture.

Review 38:Location was very good - in walking distance of all the major sights and parking under the square. The pension is in a beautiful old building with lots of character. There are shops and restaurants nearby. The gentleman who welcomed us on arrival was very helpful and friendly.

Review 39:Staff was not available from 11 am to 4pm Check-in available after 4pm, we did not find any electronic device as described Very small bathroom Location in the 4th floor of old building with slow old looking lift and other people living permanently in apartments around was little unexpected

Review 40:Staff was helpfull and quickly fixed unavaibility of hot water Close to the city centre Kettle in the room Large room with balcony

Review 41:Very Poor , Its a Floor within a very old building , elevator takes ages to come . Hotel staff sends you emails of improper use of the hotel facilities and claims additional money even after you have left the Hotel . It doesn't feel like an hotel , rather it should be in a Lodge or BNB category .

Review 42:Nothing at all

Review 43:Pictures were much more nicer than reality, based upon this, we would not have made reservations here and would have gone elsewhere.

Review 44:The staff was incredibly nice.

Review 45:* There is no fan in the bathroom so it gets a little wet

Review 46:* Location * The staff was very nice * You can check in using their 24/7 electronic system * They contact you via email and offer their help if needed after the reservation * The rooms are quiet despite the building is located in the center of the city

Review 47:funny breakfeast - 3 kinds of muslli but no milk, mix for hot chocolate but no milk, small choice

Review 48:directly in center parking garage 50 meters very cozy, old town style - lovely family like

Review 49:The shower had low pressure. High enough to have a shower, but too low to make it a perfect one for a shower-lover as I am. The wifi in the room was pretty unstable.

Review 50:The room was really comfortable in a quite neighborhood. The bed was pretty nice despite the weak pillows (but some people like that). The staff was really welcoming and warm, which isn't always the case in germanic countries. The breakfast was good and large.

Review 51:Bed, pillow and blanket are way too thin. The pension should spend just a little bit more money to this comfort

Review 52:Location and view are good value for your money

Review 53:we were absolutely mistaken by the photos published here! Our room was small, old and nothing to do with the pictures showed in the website!!

Review 54:The kindness of the man who attended us in the check in

Review 55:One toilet for the entire floor. Thin walls. Loud pipes. Hotel staff only available for small portion of the day. Shower needs a good cleaning - was slightly moldy.

Review 56:The location. Tea available in the room. Large comfortable bed. Easy to find & centrally located.

Review 57:- very very small rooms - dirty pillows and floor - Broken heating system - Broken phone and lights - Broken coffee machine & again very dirty utensils wonder how it got a 3 star rating, for me it doesn't even deserve a single one.

Review 58:City centre is bit of work but still ok.

Review 59:Staff only their part of the time (maybe they could leave better instructions and map) Breakfast was poor quality (suggest they upgrade or just remove the option)

Review 60:Room was good value Quiet Good location

Review 61:nothing

Review 62:Location is good,if you like to explore the city by walk. It is close to the center of the city where most of the sights are located. There are supermarket close and all the transportation. Very helpful stuff.

Review 63:Traffic is constant on the Ring Strasse outside the window. Toilet is down the hall and breakfast cost extra. The owner certainly takes full advantage of being close to the Departure location of this area of Vienna.

Review 64:This accommodation is in walking distance to the Central Bahnhof and the City Airport Train. A good stretch of the legs to Karlsplatz, and a City Park nearby.

Review 65:Loved the accommodations. Walking distance to Wien Mitte and numerous great eateries. Staff was very friendly and helped with suggestions for us. Reasonably priced, very clean with good wifi connection. Couldn't have asked for more.

Review 66:Nothing to dislike, but don't expect all mod cons.

Review 67:Central location, helpful and friendly staff, spotlessly clean, very good value. A character filled Viennese building and with fully adequate facilities. Very convenient for Mitte railway station.

Review 68:Booked hotel based on photos of lovely looking rooms. Room 3 was horrendous, toilet waste came up through shower when flushed, bed was against wall so had to climb over my partner, plug sockets were coming off wall, gap in floor filled with tissue paper, room very old and tired. We are not fussy travelers at all, the other rooms may be ok, but room 3 is to be avoided!

Review 69:Checking out!

Review 70:The only problem I experienced was with the Wi-Fi: it worked perfectly in the hall, but in my room, the farthest one from the entrance, it could be accessible only from the part of the room that was closer to the door. But I guess that must be a peculiarity of this particular room.

Review 71:It is a very nice place to stay, especially if you're on a brief visit to Vienna, just like me. Its location is brilliant for those who don't want to waste time on transport: it's 7 minutes away from Wien Mitte, which makes it perfect for having a place to sleep during a stopover in Vienna. On the other hand, it's right in the center, and it's 5 minutes away from the Donaukanal where you can find a lot of places to eat, drink and enjoy your evening, and 10-15 minutes away from the very center: Stephansplatz, Graben, Karntnerstrasse and other truly marvelous places. And it's very easy to locate the hotel itself, as the building entrance has a big sign with its name on it. The room (standard double) was very nice and so cozy. The bed is very soft, but that's exactly what I like, but those who like hard mattresses, be aware of that. The staff is very nice. You can check in during the reception working hours, but if you arrive earlier or later, you still can do this via an electronic access system (so be sure to let the staff know the time of your arrival a couple of days before!). Also, there's coffee and tea in the room, and finding a little Austrian waffle on my pillow as I checked in was a very pleasant addition to my overall experience.

Review 72:your pillows were flat, soft and not enough in room. no fan when it was very hot and humid.

Review 73:size of the room, outlook, option for breakfast, helpful assistance from reception when needed.

Review 74:Nothing.

Review 75:The location is great. It is 10 min by foot to the wien mitte train station and 10 min to the central touristic quarter. The building is very nice and there is an elevator so no problem getting to the 4th floor. The room was fresh and clean so were the sheets and the bathroom.

Review 76:Small room, modest bathroom, not well equipped, poor breakfast, no air conditioning, traffic noise from a busy street, staff not particularly friendly nor helpful

Review 77:Location was good.

Review 78:Nothing to complain about.

Review 79:Great location close to 2 metro stations and only a short walk to the city centre - main shopping and tourist area. Quiet, big, beautiful room with a big comfortable bed and modern, well-equipped bathroom. Supermarket, cafes, pubs and restaurant all within a stone's throw.

Review 80:There was no refrigerator in the common area to store a bottle of milk

Review 81:Big room, enought place for 3 adults and 1 baby cot. Big windows with a lot of light to enter into the room Nice view into a little square

Review 82:Cigarette smell in the lobby, and the staff early in the morning talks too loudly. Specifically, we found out the details of their lives.

Review 83:The biggest advantages of accessibility.

Review 84:The staff was friendly and accomodating. Loved the location and the building. It was clean and the facilities were good too. I had a very comfortable stay.

Review 85:The usual new trend that for much of time there is no active reception. However, they did warn of this, ask arrival, and were very nice when present.

Review 86:Pensione Riedl is in a classic Viennese apartment house facing on Coch Platz in front of Otto Wagner's masterpiece Oesterreichische Postsparkasse. From my balcony I could get a close up view of the upper facade and "Gargoyles". Stephansdom and best inner city restaurants within walking distance. Nearby S-Bahn to connect with rest or city and irport train stations Interior, lobby still has some local charm.

Review 87:I loved this hotel. I loved the location and the building was suberb. So vienna. I arrived and was greeted by a friendly young man who nade me feel very welcome. The room was ckean tudy and all i needed for my stay. The toilet was outside my room but that was not a biggy and did not inconvience me at all. This hotel was quirky and i love that. Breskfast was great in the morning. All in all very satified. Value for money

Review 88:The first night at the hotel the room and bathroom was too small for 1,85cm persons (5' 11''). There where some sharp corners on the angled roof apartment that could be a hazard when walking in dark conditions when getting up at night to visit bathroom.

Review 89:After staying in a very small and uncomfortable room with a tiny bathroom the first evening, the staff arranged for a larger room at earliest availability for a future date when we would stay there again. Thank you!

Review 90:There was smoke odor occasionally coming from the reception hall. Really weird place to have a pension. The pension is located(only) at the 4th floor of an old building. Easy to miss the first time you go there.

Review 91:The pension location was great. Close to the U3 metro line, many restaurants and cafes. The wifi reception was very good. The shower cabinet was really spacious with a great water pressure.

Review 92:The wifi was sketchy. The plumbing was awful. After using the toilet, the water would come up through the shower drain. It is very hard to find at night as it's not well marked. You have to take a very old elevator and if someone doesn't close the door on the upper floors the elevator doesn't work which means you have to walk up many flights of stairs. The towels are very old and small.

Review 93:The male desk attendent was very friendly and helpful. The location is close to all the trolley and train stops. It's very quiet. Was able to open the doors and windows for fresh air.

Review 94:Flat pillows, room 1 bed had little support, room 3 teapot didn't work. Minor complaints!

Review 95:Loved the location and ability to drop packs while roaming the city. It was safe, easy to find, and just what we were looking for. Beautiful building, quaint little rooms. Close to everything with helpful staff.

Review 96:Room 3 bed had poor support and room 1 teapot didn't seem to work - and had some dust bunnies. Very minor complaints!

Review 97:Quaint with excellent location! Really what we were looking for. Really appreciated ability to leave backpacks and pick them up later at our convenience.

Review 98:Lovely small little hotel room. About a 15 minute walk into town. Cute rooms. Slow wifi.

Review 99:Great location

Review 100:Breakfast could have more choices

Review 101:Location, comfort

Review 102:Rude staff. The entrance to the hotel is too dark and scary. Bed was uncomfortable. It was not value for money.

Review 103:Nothing I liked.

Review 104:Rooms were not very clean. Old furnitures. Pillow was dirty

Review 105:Great location, helpful staff

Review 106:Perfect location, walking distance from from the center

Review 107:the staff was nice and friendly!!

Review 108:Location building

Review 109:Rooms weren't up to expectation in terms of comfort

Review 110:Very friendly and helpful staff, location walking distance from several tourist attractions

Review 111:And expect to have a big gap, so the quality is too expensive in terms of relative price 與期望有很大的落差,這樣的品質相對價格而言太貴了

Review 112:Breakfast delicious,near station

Review 113:room facilities, old blankets with holes doesn’t rise the perception of the hotel

Review 114:The location is excellent, old building very ethnic

Review 115:Quirky place in good location

Review 116:Nice staff, big room

Review 117:Helpful staff in front desk

Review 118:Toilets and WIFI

Review 119:Location

Review 120:the bathroom was soooo small

Review 121:so room was so bright and beautiful

Review 122:The location is very good, close to the city centre. The staff was friendly.

Review 123:Bed linen was a bit grotty and very uncomfortable pillows.

Review 124:The location and the staff. The building itself was stunning.

Review 125:Really basic. Expensive for what it was. Breakfast was really basic, bit of bread and meat, a few drinks.

Review 126:Location was pretty good

Review 127:Soft bed. No air conditioning.

Review 128:Good location. Quiet.

Review 129:Great location, very clean, nice staff

Review 130:A little bit expense for what they offered.
