Reviews for Albergo Etruria

Review 1:The room was a bit small but that was what it would be expected from such an old building. But all you need is there.

Review 2:This albergo has a perfect location. It is set in an old building so there are lots of stairs and corridors but the staff tries to help you by carrying your luggage. They are excellent people and the breakfast is just great

Review 3:This hotel was a warm and friendly place. The Moriartys were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to help us with a tour of an olive oil mill. The hotel is located in the center of town and convenient to everything.

Review 4:It was all good.

Review 5:The owners and staff were wonderful. The room is lovely, and the breakfast was absolutely beautiful and fantastic! We had to leave early, and they invited us to pick up some muffins to take with us. Wonderful!

Review 6:The only downside was that there was only one electric outlet.

Review 7:The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in and out were efficient. The wife was very helpful when my daughter wasn't feeling well she offered to make her something to drink and bring up some snacks. They were helpful with directions and helpful suggestions.

Review 8:I would have prefered if the room had fewer decorations and some more utility items (a small couch or a chair). There was only ane plug and it was located behind a desk so we had to move the chair to charge our phones. However this are minor compared to the overall experience.

Review 9:The room was 5 minutes from the bus station, right across some great restaurants and cafes and very close to everything of interest. The hosts were very kind, they both spoke english and were very helpful with our bags and information. The room was clan and cosy.

Review 10:Everyone there was so lovely and friendly and there were loads of cute little craft touches around the place, it was amazing. Breakfast was fantastic too, so much choice

Review 11:The aircon in the room was next to useless and they were really needed to sleep comfortably.

Review 12:The position of this hotel is just great. Right in the middle of town. The owners were great. Breakfast spread was excellent. Was able to park my motorcycle in the backyard of the hotel which was great.

Review 13:There was a dire need of a gardener to sweep all the fallen leaves in October.

Review 14:THe kind owners of the family run hotel, beautiful decorations in every corner, lovely garden with chairs on the top of stairs with view over the towers The superb breakfast.

Review 15:Couldn't get any hot water in the shower but there was adequate hot water in the sink? Free car parking is hard to find but there is a pay facility close by.

Review 16:The location was in the heart of town ,cozy and quite. The roof top garden was beautiful. The breakfast was fantastic! The staff was very friendly.

Review 17:A bit out of the way if you want to daytrip to Siena. 3 flights of stairs up to our room.

Review 18:Located on the main street of Volterra, everything in town is within walking distance. Friendly accommodating staff with good recommendations for restaurants. Ample breakfast with lots of homemade cookies and sweets. Etruscan museum.

Review 19:Nothing, would definitely try to stay there again if I go back to Volterra.

Review 20:Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff, spacious room with nice shower, good breakfast with ample selection.

Review 21:Unfortunately we had a very bad bed (the worst ever). The outside noise starts very early as soon as 6:00 a.m. Early morning, the hot water takes a very long time to arrive.

Review 22:Very well located. Breakfast was excellent and various. Staff very friendly and helpful. The terrace was a nice place to relax and have a glass of wine. The common area (living room) was comfortable and full of magazines and books to consult.

Review 23:Nothing. The place is a jewel. I have every intention of visiting again.

Review 24:Very nice place run by family outstanding decor excellent breakfast with home made tarts cakes and pies Great location staff seals Rnglish and extremely friendly. Would stay there in a heartbeat again.

Review 25:The only comment is there was a slight damp smell, probably because the building is very old. We managed to get rid of it by opening the window and running the AC.

Review 26:Fantastic hotel, beautifully furnished, located in the heart of Volterra. Inside the room there is a comfy bed, AC and fans, cupboards, a small table and wardrobe, all clean and stylish. There is a possibility to leave the luggage after the check out and hang out in the beautiful common living room, had a coffee etc. Upstairs there is a great rooftop garden. Breakfast amazing! We loved the hotel!

Review 27:Air conditioning was a bit weak.

Review 28:Fantastic location. Wonderful rooftop garden for enjoying a picnic. Shop for local wine, cheese, etc and relax outside.

Review 29:With the reservation they should give an indication how to get best to the hotel: prepared e-mail = easily done.

Review 30:Top location wonderful historic building loved their parking place for the motorbike

Review 31:Beds were like camp beds Breakfast avoid- go next door to Cafe Shower - can't be adjusted- too hot or too cold No air con

Review 32:Location, new owner very helpful

Review 33:Great place, center located in the old town, with wonderful and very available owners, and with a beautiful garden at the fourth floor with a great view on the old town. Definitely a must, we'll go back there.

Review 34:Our room overlooked the main street and so was very noisy. The air conditioning unit was not working and sleeping with the windows shut was hot and uncomfortable.

Review 35:Location is perfect. There is a charming roof garden (a work in progress) that is a haven of peace.

Review 36:Parking is in the free town lot...at the bottom of a 1000 steps up to the town

Review 37:great place in heart of Volterra, very nice rooms, staff was excellent and the breakfast was very nice as well

Review 38:My only bad comment would be that we were in an older room waiting for renovation, and the shower was very small, but that seems normal in Italy. Have been in the same situation in other hotels in Italy.

Review 39:The owners and staff were great, very helpful and willing to go the extra mile. Always smiling and cheerful. Our last day we were leaving at 6.00am and they served us coffee and cake. Fab end to a great short stay. Will be going back.

Review 40:Internet was not fast, but generally that has been true in all the places we have stayed in Italy.

Review 41:Everything. Friendly, helpful owners working hard to make all their guests feel at home. The rooms are nicely decorated and spotless. We were sorry to have to move on after two nights. The breakfasts were the best in Italy.

Review 42:Large beautifully designed rooms with lovely details - real care has been taken here. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good. Bang in the middle of Volterra, but not noisy late at night.

Review 43:Weak internet access

Review 44:Very friendly personnel Perfect location in the middle of old Volterra (200 m from parking) Romantic and good taste design Delicious breakfast Clean Reasonable price

Review 45:Great room and location. Lovely customer care. Good value as the property is in the town centre with easy access to the main historical monuments. Would recommend it.

Review 46:Amazing location near by square in centre with amazing owner. Excellent breakfasts.

Review 47:Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Very nice breakfast included. Quiet, comfortable and lovely room!

Review 48:Excellent breakfast, very friendly, lovely place

Review 49:The breakfast is outstanding.

Review 50:uncomfortable bed

Review 51:great staff and wonderful breakfast

Review 52:All is perfect

Review 53:We loved this family run hotel especially the warm welcome, spotless room and delicious breakfast.

Review 54:Slightly awkward to find in the somewhat confusing narrow streets of Volterra's historic centre as the signing is quite discreet.

Review 55:Friendly staff.

Review 56:Only two days spent here.

Review 57:Very centrally located. Walking distance to everywhere. Superb staff and great eateries all around. Will definitely return.

Review 58:Great place. Beautifully designed. Delicious breakfast. Superstaff and atmosphere!!!

Review 59:Everything the staff the place the breakfast just perfect

Review 60:Location and very friendly staff.

Review 61:Bathroom is a bit small.

Review 62:Very friendly couple running the hotel and perfecr position right in the centre of town! Takes 5 minutes to walk everywhere.

Review 63:The stairs!but it is normal in an historical building not to have an elevator

Review 64:Location of the hotel and the staff

Review 65:Great location, super friendly staff. One minute walk from bus stop. Cozy lounge area and outside terrace with view of the town.

Review 66:There is no lift in hotel and very bad beds and pillows. Also there is no air condition in rooms.

Review 67:Location is great! Good breakfast

Review 68:Great location, very nice staff, excellent breakfast

Review 69:The hotel was great but it was so hot at night time and we had trouble sleeping.

Review 70:Location and roof top hideaway.

Review 71:The Staff was AWESOME

Review 72:Owners were lovely, breakfast was to die for.

Review 73:Museum and ampitheater

Review 74:Spotty and inconsistent wi fi

Review 75:The staff, the staff and the helpfulness of the owners

Review 76:All good,two thumbs up.

Review 77:Great staff and service. Very good location in historic centre but very close to public parking

Review 78:Couldn't seem to get my WiFi working

Review 79:Location, room and friendliness of all staff

Review 80:No negative impressions.

Review 81:Located in the historic town center. Parking 70 meters. Super clean rooms and perfect hotel staff.

Review 82:Breakfast

Review 83:Room was nice, clean, and very quiet. Breakfast was very good.

Review 84:The host were warm and welcoming fixing a tray of hot tea for me to take to the room on my first night. Italian breakfast buffet with individually prepared coffee of choice was served in the morning. Our room was fresh and clean with fluffy white towels!

Review 85:Great location in the old city with a lovely garden at the top. No lift, but if you are going to a hill town you are going to be using lots of stairs anyways. No lift was not a problem for us, but some people may, We had a view over the street from their top floor. It was interesting to watch the town wake up in the morning.

Review 86:the water heater for coffee and tea was for looks only as the plug would not plug in the wall. Neither would the TV plug work in the wall. We used our traveling plug adapter to use the hotels own equiptment!

Review 87:the location is so great!. Of course it was noisy but we expected that since we stayed right above the street. The young man at the desk, Micheal was absolutely the best! He was beyond the call of duty helping us get a train schedule to Cinque Terre

Review 88:Description says car parking available on site whereas no carparkingexists inside the city walls of Volterra. This is misleading and needsto be changed.

Review 89:Proximity to everything. Clean and fresh. Lovely breakfast.

Review 90:Rooms could use luggage racks.

Review 91:Excellent location, walking distance to everywhere. No need to pay for parking, there is a free parking just down few (250) steps from hotel. Good breakfast, nice outside siting area accessible from 2nd floor.

Review 92:The hotel could be quite good but a lot of details cause that it is not (a sink out of order, it is problematic to adjust an optimal water temperature in the shower - very hot, shutter out of order - unpossible to open, room smells)

Review 93:Very nice location, quite good breakfast.

Review 94:That my stay finished and had to leave. :D

Review 95:I loved the location, the design, lovely, friendly n helpful staff. The hotel is clean, the breakfast perfect, was a perfect stay, already recomended n will in the future, also wanna go back!!

Review 96:Rooms were facing street with noise evening and morning but not a problem at night and I loved hearing the sounds of the town. If you are a late sleeper, might prefer a room at the back.

Review 97:Wonderful location and staff. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very nice breakfast. Hotel had a nice sitting area on second floor with sofa and tv. Very nice patio on the top of hotel, sadly no time to use it. Would definitely stay there again and do hope to return in the future. Volterra is amazing, loved it!

Review 98:Typical small Italian hotel bathrooms, a rather small complaint with almost all hotels in reasonable price range. Bathrooms are clean and adequate -- showers tiny in nearly all cases.

Review 99:Very convenient location in a town that, I predict, will be very crowded with visitors in the coming years. The hotel is quite pleasant and within steps of everything in the town.

Review 100:We visited few museums and they were poorly guided in english. Audioguide was good but there were no english texts explaining the pieces.

Review 101:Exellent location, in the heart of Volterra. The staff was very helpful. Free parking just outside the city walls.

Review 102:If I have to say one thing I didn't like is the smallness of the bathroom, the toilet seat is close to the wall and showers in Italy are tiny, but again, this is a building that's been there for a couple of hundred years, she has done an amazing job of remodeling and keeping it spotless

Review 103:Etruria was a very nice small boutique hotel run by the owner, who is very kind and organized. She treated us very well, gave us directions and recommendations and a city map etc. The parking is like a 100 meters or 100 yards away, you'll see why these walled city hotels don't have parking. But it is very convenient right at the entrance of the city. You can walk to the hotel in less than 5 minutes. She even made sure the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is small, but it is smack in the middle of the small walled city. It is right in the center of all the shopping areas and restaurants. You can of course walk the whole thing in a couple of hours. There is a beautiful castle that you can see from the outside, don't miss it. Volterra is very close to San Gimignano if you are planning on staying there. It is also very close to Pisa (Of course by close you still need to drive).

Review 104:We stayed there on April 23,which was a chilly night, but their heating is turned off on April 15. However, there were heavy wool blankets available in the room.

Review 105:Albergo Etruria is a welcoming family owned oasis on a quiet street in the center of the ancient walled town of Volterra, situated in the stunningly beautiful Tuscan hills. There is a wonderful pastry shop/tea room directly across and many close by cafes and restaurants. Owners Giuseppina and daughter and Lisa are welcoming and very helpful. Their breakfasts are lovely. There is a homey parlor with a computer--the comforts of home.

Review 106:The bathroom walls crumbled, needed repair (not criticism).

Review 107:Excellent breakfast, helpful service, location in Centro, clean, historic 17th Century building

Review 108:Younger staff is cordial. Older woman at front desk was quite unpleasant and unhelpful. The place smells musty and seems shabby. Bed was awful. Traveling companion had no hot water for shower. No apology offered. We're seasoned travelers and quite patient and unfussy but this was the only hotel so far out of six we've stayed in this trip, and the only one we definitely never go back to despite the great location.

Review 109:Location is great. Breakfast fairly good

Review 110:We had internal room and it smelt a little bit but everything was clean

Review 111:Friendly staff recommended great local restaurants that where not tourist driven.

Review 112:Excellent location Excellent breakfast Very nice atmosphere of the hotel

Review 113:This is a nice hotel with friendlY staff and decent sized rooms. We recommend it!

Review 114:The surrounding is quite loud.

Review 115:Friendly staff, clean, nice room, delicious breakfast full of local products and italian coffee.

Review 116:Hotel at perfect location in middle of medievel town.

Review 117:No elevator.

Review 118:Good breakfast, perfect coffee.

Review 119:Very nice room very romantic Generous breakfast

Review 120:A small fridge would have been good. Very small shower.

Review 121:Nice bed linen. Very handy. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Very good value for money.
