Reviews for Hotel San Lino

Review 1:Stayed here the night before my wedding and the wonderful staff helped me translate my speech and its those kind of personal touches that make a hotel great. I have stayed before and I like the sizeable rooms and the breakfasts. Good coffee too.

Review 2:Did not give to much information at check in. Buffet set up for tours.

Review 3:Went out of their Qatari help me find something I lost.Spa is relaxing after touring. Close to Assisi I and has a shuttle.

Review 4:The weak wifi. The noise near the room in the morning. The breakfast could be improved by using quality Tuscan products.

Review 5:The location. The tasteful decoration of the common spaces. The friendliness of the hotel staff.

Review 6:Double bed with two separate mattresses Room was too small

Review 7:Very well positioned, in the very city center and with a park very close to the entrance of the city Nice environment and friendly staff

Review 8:Wifi worked in lobby only.

Review 9:They had a garage for our car(extra charge) which was very convenient for us to take day trips. The breakfast was plentiful and the service exceptional. We also had a delightful dinner one evening at the restaurant. Front staff was very helpful and spoke good English. Volterra is a cool town with lots of shopping and restaurants.

Review 10:Wi-Fi not accessible from room, but a minor gripe only.

Review 11:Beautiful location, clean comfortable room, parking, good breakfast, pleasant staff and especially the pool (small but just the thing after a long day's sightseeing). Great base for a Tuscan touring holiday.

Review 12:We had a smell in the bathroom, hotel must have known about it but did nothing. Wifi was delclared to be in each room, but we had nothing in our room and needed to sit at reception to have signal - but Wifi was very weak anyhow.

Review 13:Location of hotel perfect. Hotel parking very good. Breakfast perfect, even though it was the same every day, but the choice was wide, including fresh melon and pinapple and other fruits. Room fine. Bed was super.

Review 14:Nothing too much trouble for staff at this hotel from arranging late check out to posting on item left behind. Extremely well located for towns amenities relaxing and quiet pool area and generous rooms and a great cappuccino !

Review 15:Wifi was a bit weak at times

Review 16:Really enjoyed our stay in hotel san Lino. Great location inside the town walls. friendly and helpful staff. Pool area was lovely. We reserved a parking space in advance which was very convenient.

Review 17:Decor a bit plain and dated. But not at all shabby - all kept immaculately.

Review 18:Exceptionally clean throughout. Comfortable room. Lovely little pool which made historic sightseeing much more palatable for our three kids (8, 6 and 4).Location and parking just within the city gates a real bonus.

Review 19:I was in a single room and felt a little bit tucked away: the lesser spot in the hotel for a single room. The maids deposited all linnen etcetera next to my door.

Review 20:The location was great.

Review 21:If you are 6ft or more and a sturdy build my advice would be not to book a single room . There were only centimetres to spare either side bed size more appropriate for 9 or ten year olds.Quite noisy sometimes but not really the hotels fault more than of the disrespectful guest.I blame it all on the Kardashians all that shrieking and carrying on!!! The front door mat needs replacing not a good look and the cigarette butts stubbed out in the potted olive tree around the pool is again not a good look.Likeable hotel and would definitely stay there again with a different bedroom option.

Review 22:The pool area especially the temperature of the pool was just set perfectly cool and refreshing. Breakfast was goods with lots of fresh fruit options. Location was great could walk everywhere friendly on reception and super clean!!!

Review 23:We requested a double/queen size bed, but were given 2 small beds held together by an external metal frame, which stuck out. We kept hitting our shins.

Review 24:Great location in town, close to the Roman theater. Very nice pool. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 25:Definitively you don't feel in a 4 stars hotel, everthing is old (facilities, furniture...) and breakfast could be much better

Review 26:The location is great, the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Great pool.

Review 27:Too bad pool closes early.

Review 28:Excellent location...a straight drive thru city wall. Garage right next door .. A major plus for drivers.. And it's big so easy to get in and out. My room came with sweet balcony with view of church next door, pool and some surrounding valley. Wish I had stayed 2 nites.

Review 29:Very nice hotel, but it also has character: it was previously a convent before it was converted to a hotel in 1982. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and cool, which is especially important for anyone visiting during the hot summer months.

Review 30:Nothing, this hotel is really great!

Review 31:Perfect location! Covered private parking next to the hotel. Swimming pool available all the time and room very comfy. Kind and helpful staff.

Review 32:The wifi impossible in room, the bed bad and pillow like rocks. The water in shower non existent in am - hot or cold, while other guests probably using it. The flushing toilet from next room very noisy.

Review 33:The staff very nice spoke very good English, the food in resteraunt was very good.

Review 34:Lots of steps around the pool area - need hand rails for safety. Could become very slippery when wet. Several heavy smokers tended to spend all day around the pool, until they had filled the ashtrays - we thought a little gentle management, maybe a smoking area, could have improved the situation. .

Review 35:The best Hotel we could find, within the old town walls, with a garage & pool. A little old fashioned, but comfortable. Friendly reception team, very helpful. When using the garage, one enters the controlled traffic zone. The non resident traffic management in town seems a little draconian, but Anna helped us understand the route in detail.

Review 36:Some small areas for improvement: 1. The Wifi is average at best and limited to certain areas of the hotel. 2. The breakfast buffet appeared to have a bit of variety, but unfortunately did not get replenished. We had breakfast approximately 8:30am and many dishes were empty or near empty, with none refilled during the approx. 1 hour we were there. 3. Better cleaning/ventilation required for the showers. Our shower had visible mould and a distinct smell. It's worth noting the rest of the room appeared clean.

Review 37:The location was great, staff were friendly, room was a decent size and the pool looked inviting (shame we didn't have a long enough stay to take advantage)

Review 38:The hotel is in the old town of Volterra - just inside the gate in a nice old building. Has character. Staff are helpful/friendly. Beds are comfortable and room was cool even though we stayed in a warm period (not using the air-con). Swimming pool is a nice extra. Breakfast very good.

Review 39:The manager of the restaurant was very condescending to the help in front of customers.

Review 40:The Room had a nice view to the courtyard and beyond. Voterra was a very nice place to visit.

Review 41:The bed is very hard ( I think all hotel beds are hard), the rooms are quite dark

Review 42:Excellent location, the car park under the hotel is worth the 11 euro a night, lovely views from the hotel.

Review 43:It was close to the Town Hall where we were photographing a wedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful the room was clean and comfortable, the buffet breakfast was more than adequate, with good choices of cereal, pastries, fruit, meats, cheese, tea, coffee & fruit juice. The whole of the hotel was very clean.

Review 44:Bit of a hike back uphill to the bus station when pulling luggage, but not a problem.

Review 45:We liked the quiet location and having the nice pool area to relax in.

Review 46:Only complaint was room was on main road and by 6:30 am there was a fair amount of traffic on stone based road.

Review 47:Comfortable room, clean, wifi, breakfast, helpful staff.

Review 48:The location was located away from the busiest spots but easily accessible to shops and restaurants. Enjoyed sitting out by the pool even in cooler weather. Staff was polite and helpful.

Review 49:The problem with the drains in the bathroom. Despite the accommodating chamber-maids doing their best to eliminate the unpleasant smell, it still built up during the day.

Review 50:The superb location, you can stroll anywhere and everywhere in Volterra from the hotel. Anna Maria on reception, being bi-lingual, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. All the staff in fact were very efficient and friendly.

Review 51:Internet was a bit slow, but not any moreso than most of Italy.

Review 52:Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Lobby and breakfast room were spacious and well appointed. Inviting bar and restaurant. Location was the best one could hope for and the pool area and view spectacular. We would recommend without hesitation.

Review 53:The only possible downside was having to pay 11 Euros per day for parking. Hotel has reserved places in the public car park.

Review 54:The location was within the old city of Volterra, which meant that we could easily get around the City, have a meal with drinks at night without having to drive or get a taxi. Volterra is far less commercialised than its neighbor San Gimignano. We did enjoy our stay in the Hotel and would definitely use it again. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had one of the better rooms which overlooked the pool area.

Review 55:wifi was weak in the rooms, lobby was fine.

Review 56:Very convenient with well furnished clean rooms, friendly attendants, convenient parking garage and great location!

Review 57:Great location, friendly staff, nice rooms, variety of breakfast choices included, parking for 11 Euros in parking garage. We would go back to san Lino at Volterra.

Review 58:they have to work with wifi too slow couldnt download the updates for some programms, which were important to me

Review 59:evereything very near, room was quiet, nice for sleeping, pool excellent staff wery helpful and gave good suggestions

Review 60:It was a little bit older than some guests might like, but we didn't mind. The wifi was disappointing.

Review 61:The location can't be beat--it's right within the city walls. The front desk staff was welcoming, friendly, helpful. There was free covered parking just steps away.

Review 62:i was surprised that animals (dogs) were allowed to stay in the rooms. although they were always on a lead. i dont like the idea of sleeping in a room where a dog slept previously.

Review 63:the location was extremely convenient and simple to locate. staff were polite efficient and eager to help in every way. delighetfull pool where seats were not booked and held all day by other guests. perfect....

Review 64:Of course, the price was higher than in other location, but it was probably worth of its atractions.

Review 65:Great location, easily achievable with car but also inside city walls. Not far from main attractions. Comfortable appartment. Convenient access to swimming pool. It is pity we stayed only one night. The place gives you a chance to combine city seeing with leisure time. Great melange.

Review 66:We booked a superior room. What we got - notwithstanding the provision of a tiny balcony overlooking the pool - was a basic room with absolutely no frills. Dated furniture and decor. Only one of the clothes hangers provided could be used to hang trousers. WiFi in lobby area very good but very patchy in room. In all not a patch on superior rooms in Florence, Lucca and Siena at the same price.

Review 67:The location is excellent. The breakfasts are very good. Most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Car parking was very convenient.

Review 68:The bed was two metal cots pushed together. It was not even like a proper bed. The walls are paper-thin and you could hear everything in the rooms next door-including a man snoring all night! It was by far the smallest room we had during our whole stay in Italy. There was no place to even put your suitcase. The wifi really only worked in the lobby.

Review 69:The breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh fruit and sweets. The pool area was a nice quiet spot and a relaxing break after touring. You have to pay for parking but at least you have a reserved spot. Parking lots nearby are really crowded and you'd never get a spot.

Review 70:There is a good connection at 1 place in the lobby only.

Review 71:What a pleasant and friendly place. The team is just wunderful! They make you feel at home. They prepared a menu at the 15 th of august (national holiday) in the garden with life music: fantastic!

Review 72:Our bed had hard bits sticking out of the mattress and left us with really sore backs. The pool was chilly...even in August.

Review 73:The hotel was lovely it was great to be within the walls of the old city.

Review 74:No real wifi, not because of the Hotel but because of the city (not really well related to the net). The food but this also is caracteristical of the city, you have better to buy your food in the pescheria (excellent dishes near the hotel) and not to go to restaurants in volterra.

Review 75:The situation in the center with a parking, the typical building, the staff, well educated, authentically toscan, distinguished and competent, speaking a good english, the calm during the day.

Review 76:Great spot if you want to get away from it all for a couple of days. Good sunny pool area & a quick walk to the main square which has good restaurants. Great that it has a carpark so close. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast with the best lemon cake ever!

Review 77:Modern hotel inside old city gates, unusual and most appreciated. Super central location for all of Tuscany. Lovely terrace and pool. very helpful staff.

Review 78:At breakfast you were not asked what you wanted to drink. So called"american coffee" was available in thermoses but seeing acappuccino coming out of the kitchen I realised it was available...They just try to avoid work and cost I guess ("stupidguests"). WiFi in rooms didn't work at all. The main WiFiworked only in some corners of the reception area and was slow. Us andanother couple arriving to the garage at the same time didn't seethe small faded sign telling where the hotel was so we spent some timewandering around...

Review 79:Garage very convenient in a place like Volterra, also since cool whenhot outside. Nice pool area. Hotel in a calm corner of Volterra.Breakfast good except... See below

Review 80:maybe that the rooms and bathroom are not too big.. but it did not bother me that much.

Review 92:Location,friendly helpful staff & the breakfast. The pool was great for the kids

Review 93:No wi-fi in the room

Review 94:wonderful location in beautiful city. Extremely helpful staff, and in a city with no parking inside the walls, a very handy car parking space.

Review 95:No WELAN in room, Room too small for a double bedroom, BFST very poor, No lift

Review 96:Reception personal

Review 97:The room was clean and comfortable. There was wifi access throughout the hotel, and the pool was cool and clean with ample seating.

Review 106:Town center, parking nearby, kind and efficient staff, modest price, sunny and spacious courtyard with pool, cleanliness

Review 107:Room was small, dark and paper-thin walls - could hear the people next door clearly.

Review 108:Location was very good and garage parking

Review 110:Staff excellent!

Review 116:Excellent location! Parking in the premises. Close proximity to restaurants and historic sites.

Review 117:Courteous staff, great location.

Review 118:De bedden zijn slecht en de kussens hard. Het onbijt is elke dag hetzelfde. Doet allemaal erg goedkoop aan!

Review 119:Nothing, everything was perfect!

Review 120:Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient parking

Review 121:Room was quite small

Review 122:Staff friendly
