Reviews for Santamaria Inn
Review 1:at 34 euros/night for a double room exceptionally perfect , exceeding my expectations specially for rooms 205 and 206 that were newly refurbished. breakfast was super
Review 2:I liked that the property was very close to metro station, Termini. Also an amazing price/quality report. A bit cold in the first night, but we asked for a blanket and they gave it to us immediately and raised the temperature in our room.
Review 3:the toilet smelled like piss all the time and the zone is not as nice, a friend even told us that they have even got robbed in that zone
Review 4:It's close to the metro and the Train Station. The value for the room is great and you get a decent breakfast (but don't expect a 5 star buffet). The staff is really kind they even printed our plane tickets and kept our luggage for us. And it's in the third floor of an apartment building
Review 5:There is only a small sign on the door of the B&B so we had a little bit of trouble to find it. No view outside, the balcony is not clean.
Review 6:Very friendly staff. They explained to us how to go around, where to find the train/metro/sightseeing places, etc. They do not have a 24/7 reception so they arranged with us before the trip. Trustful. Very good value for money.
Review 7:This hostel is a definite number one choice for both short and longer stay in Rome! We were really pleasantly surprised to come into a very nice and spacious room with twin beds, a nice and big bathroom and with the view of a quiet street. Beds are very comfortable, towels are changed every day, the room is really well heated, and also has a big wardrobe closet and a small refrigerator. Everything seems new or very recently renovated. The elevator is working. You can reach Termini station within less than 10 minutes of walking or by metro (1 stop) which is 50 meters away from the hostel. The staff is extremely pleasant and accommodating, and speak excellent English. They are very open to help with anything you might need and really make you feel at home! Breakfast is excellent, a variety of salty and sweet food, so you can choose what you like. We spent the total of 3 nights there and we are sure to recommend this place to everyone coming to Rome and to stay there again next time! Thank you Santa Maria Inn! :)
Review 8:The wider area of Termini,in which the hotel is located is not the best one,but I didn't feel insecurity or fear. The breakfast was not very rich and as for the cleanliness there were some spots on the walls. There was no 24h reception
Review 9:The staff was really helpful and kind. Although we arrived earlier than the check in time and the room was not ready yet,we could leave our luggage in the room and also have breakfast. The room's size was ok and had a nice view.
Review 10:Poooooor wifi
Review 11:Location was good but not easy to find, i called to hotel end staff meet me on the street and lead to the hotel. For first look some strange place but inside was pretty comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Review 12:the bathroom smelled really bad, we complain and there was no action about it. the neighborhood is not so nice, but close to public transportation. the breakfast was scarce.
Review 13:Staff was nice and helpful
Review 14:- Really friendly and nice staff - Breakfast was included (bread, cornflakes, sponge cake, coffee, tea, juice..) - 5 min walk from Termini (which was very convenient for us since we were coming from Fiumicino Airport) - Pretty good location - Rooms looked kind of old but it was clean
Review 15:Promised breakfast at 7.30am the morning of our departure but no staff around to cater for us!
Review 16:Great location (10 min walk to central station and walking distance to the Coloseum) and great value for money.
Review 17:Our window was right out to the busy street so it was pretty noisy, but I just brought war plugs so that it wouldn't bother me too much.
Review 18:They were the nicest people, the rooms were so clean and they came to clean them everyday! Everything was new and nice. The showers are clean and warm. They had breakfast in the morning that was really nice, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, meat and cheeses. It's located very close to Roma termini station, just one metro stop away or you can walk, it's that close. But the metro stop is a 2 min walk and it takes you everywhere! I would recommend this place for everyone! It is on the second floor but there is an elevator.
Review 19:Although rooms are clean, don't expect tip-top condition (our first room needed a serious paint job, and the second had a broken shower bar so the shower head was sitting very low). Don't always believe what is advertized either : we stayed a second time there thinking we'd get a safety deposit box as advertized and as we had had the first time, but there was none available in that room! Wifi did not work in the rooms we had, but worked from the entrance area.
Review 20:Perfect location near the Terminal but not too close : you get the proximity without the sketchiness... This place is actually near what feels like a nice working class neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and shops. In our opinion, this is a much better location than Trevi, or the Pantheon which are swormed by crowds. These sites can be reached on foot (walking distance). Excellent location, fairly good price-quality ratio. Very good breakfast with hard boiled eggs, cheese, meat, bread, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc. Nice staff.
Review 21:The only thing is that the interenet connection was poor ar some parts
Review 22:So clean, amazing, kind and freindly staff , the receptionist gave us a map and an advice in where to go, room was perfect and clean, location is more thab perfect , we only walked fir 10 min from where the airpirt shuttle dropped us at Termini station , safe place , and i will definitley choose it a second time
Review 23:The hotel was a little bit worn around the edges but for the price was excellent. It was a little hard to find.
Review 24:Large airy corner room. Very friendly English speaking staff. Close to station. Good value for money.
Review 25:The neighbourhood isn't the best, and the building entrance decieves a bit, but it is a B&B after all.
Review 26:Was just what we needed for a night in Rome. Walking distance from Termini.
Review 27:Location is good, but the people around are the worst, we witnessed a robbery.. The hotel has the oldest and most crankiest lift ever, overall its good if you 6ft and have biceps the size of Goldbergs. Try and avoid, i witnessed a robbery.
Review 28:Not much
Review 29:Mattress split in two not very comfortable and AC wasn't strong enough (it was July and it was extremely hot!!!)
Review 30:Well located, friendly and helpful staff!!!
Review 31:This is really being picky but we had to pay an extra 5 euros just to use the air condition which I thought was ridiculous considering it was 30' outside! So we had to do it.mthe breakfast wasn't much but it was enough to start the day.
Review 32:Good location close to termini, lovely friendly staff nice big bed clean room and beautiful bathrooms. Good value
Review 33:The Santamaria Inn is run by a small handful of people and they are all great! Very easy to talk to and dealt with issues immediately. Customer service is second to none! The room was modern and clean. The location is amazing!
Review 34:breakfast was not so good, internett was quite terrible. we could not Connect to the wifi at all. location is near to the Train station With a lot of prostitutes and drug dealers around
Review 35:location was still good, cause it was near by undergroundstation.
Review 36:We had a problem with blocked bathroom drains, which was later fixed after complaining. We weren't informed about the inn enough. Did not even know there was a free breakfast however, after finding out it was pretty average.
Review 37:The best part of the Inn was the location. It was very easy to walk around main attractions in Rome. We were also happy that the room had a aircon.
Review 38:It's rather nosy and the place near the hotel is not very nice: quite dirty and so on ( as it usually near the stations)
Review 39:It's very close to the railway station so if you stay in Rome one or two nights and then go by train somewhere or by bus to the airport it's very comfortable to stay at this hotel.
Review 40:This is not really a hotel. Only some rooms at floor 3. The owner was unfriendly, and told us every day that we have to pay tax, also when other people were around us. He became angry to us when we put a little thing at the table next to us. We did this only 1 minute because this "hotel" have very little tables.
Review 41:The breakfast was very okay!
Review 42:great and friendly stuff, near location to termini and colisio, just beside the metro station, they sent me an instruction e mail for the directions the reach....i love it
Review 43:Very poor wifi connection in the room.
Review 44:Very friendly and helpful staff, great location. Nice breakfast - nothing over the moon, but various and tasty. Fresh fruit every morning.
Review 45:The bed was two singles pushed together, and it was very noisy, not just from road traffic but also the staff, I assume setting up breakfast.
Review 46:Staff were very accommodating and helpful, very good location and a clean room with a nice shower
Review 47:room near the entrance and breakfast room was noisy though I asked for a romm in upper floor
Review 48:good location, easy acces to the station, clean spacious room
Review 49:Bed is very uncomfortable, very very noisy (if your sleep is sensitive, don't book this hotel).
Review 50:Good location, very close to termini station. Nice breakfast: coffee, pastries, cheese, some meat, fruits.
Review 51:No late check-out available. Wifi signal was quite instable.
Review 52:Excellent price-quality ratio. Friendly staff. Extensive choices for the breakfast compared to most Italian hotels.
Review 53:dirty walls, smell in the bathroom, no parking place (we need to pay 25 euro/day to a private parking), high price for an B&B, for breakfast we need to wait because of small place...
Review 54:close to metro station,
Review 55:I have no complaints about the hotel itself--we needed a clean place to sleep in route back to the train station and for that it was perfect. However, I'd recommend staying in a different part of the city of you're spending more than one night. This area might feel just like staying in any big city as opposed to staying in Rome.
Review 56:This is within walking distance from Termini station so saves cab fare and time. The staff is very friendly and helpful; when they found out we'd be checking out before breakfast, they brought fruit and tea to our room the night before which I thought was above and beyond their obligation. The cleanliness and convenience for the money is hard to beat.
Review 57:Lake of international channels on the TV. Sometime wifi becomes too slow. Overall okey to relax.
Review 58:staff was really cooperative. Easily locatable. Simple but nice breakfast. Rooms are clean and tidy. Its a budget hotel but truly value of money.
Review 59:- It is rather loud in the morning as the reception area on floor 2 is right next to some rooms. But guests are more the problem then staff - Shower head was annoying (loose) - The usual no hook situation in the bathroom
Review 60:- Room size and 'design' - Friendly staff - Super close to Termini (early flight)
Review 61:Nothing really :)
Review 62:Easy to find, located close to transport links. Staff was lovely and helpful, ready to accommodate any requests. Breakfast room was small but very nice, with simple but good food. Wi fi worked well, and all facilities were very clean.
Review 63:at a glance, the area might look shady, but after a while it doesn't look that way anymore. my advice, take the bigger road if you are not comfortable with quiet streets.
Review 64:everything. the staff are extremely nice and helpful. the room is clean and tidy, and they clean the room everyday. the breakfast is simple but really good. would definitely stay here again.
Review 65:The staff was very kind. They sent me instructions how to rich the hotel from the airport and decided the problems with my debit card. The location is very good close to the metro station and bus station also to Termini. You could rich on foot the centre of the city and Coliseum is only 15 minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast was tasty and varied.
Review 66:Rooms towards the street quite noisy. Breakfast room quite small.
Review 67:Located 100 m from Metro, simple way to downtown Rome. Clean rooms and very helpfull and nice staff.
Review 68:There was a lot of traffic noise at night, and some of the surrounding streets were not very inviting.
Review 69:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and the breakfast was good.
Review 70:The information on booking.com was not totally correct. Instead of a coupon for a breakfast at coffeecompany there is an avarage breakfast served. Hygiene in the bathroom wasn't perfect (hair in sink etc.).
Review 71:Good location near metro station, good wi-fi
Review 72:the room 302 is very good.has 3 balconies but the smell of cigarettes was awful. as we stayed 4 nights, they didn't clean the room "the floor is always dusty" but since we are not difficult travelers,we didn't complain. In general it is a very good hotel and ilove to return once again in challah.
Review 73:the receptionist Mrs Teresa is very helpful as well as the lady who prepares breakfast. All the staff in the hotel were very good and always nice to us.
Review 74:It was near termini station so dangerious street we find this hotel (if it is can we named hotel )after hour then we looked it. Because it was in the apartment. And this hotel on the 3th floor. And maybe second floor also because we had our breakfast second floor.Think You are enter the apartment and one the rooms is you room. So noisy street so little room we stay there 4 nights 3 personal we entered this room only to sleep. Because it was around the new year we can not find other hotel to stay. I think in this money everyone can find more better hotel in Rome and my advise don't stay near Termini.
Review 75:Breakfast is so good.Wi if good and hot water almost
Review 76:only 2 things we didn't like..first of all the neighborhood is a bit rough. Although it is next to Vittorio Emmanuele metro station (1 min walk) we didn't dare to walk there after 8 o clock. And the other thing was that our room was right next to the reception and until 4 in the evening there was a lot of noise!!!don't look fo a sign outside the building. The hotel is on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the building only. There is only a small one small over the doorbell. But the hotel send us detailed guides on how to get there. Overall very satisfied!!
Review 77:loved the breakfast , the room decoration and the owners!! Very polite and willing to help us with everything. In our departure date we left the room and our luggage in the hotel and went for our last shopping in town. When we returned to get them and leave for the airport they told us we could use another bathroom to fresh up. Very nice gesture...
Review 78:- Heating could not be switched off, thus we had to leave the window wide open on a quite noisy street.
Review 79:- Friendliness off the employees!!! - Breakfast service on day of departure, since we could not make it to the regular breakfast times. - Location and access to public transportation. - Did not expect the hotel to be in a residential appartment, nevertheless the room (incl. the absence of neighbour noises) was perfect.
Review 80:There was a funny smell from the bathroom. Breakfast could be better and until 10am.
Review 81:The location ... is very central and 5 min walk to termini. Also you can walk to colloseum about 15 min. Staff is very friendly and helpful , we asked for electric kettle, cups and plates and they provided us. Wifi good.
Review 82:The Inn needs a clear sign outside- you could easily walk past it and be lost! Duvets on the beds would be better than blankets and sheets. Access to the internet in our room was not always possible.
Review 83:We appreciated the quietness of our room and the warm and friendly welcome we received. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, including fresh fruit.Quite near to many of the major sites, too. We enjoyed our stay!
Review 84:Nothing ... Just has difficulty finding it at first at night in the dark ... Needed more outside signage to make locating it more obvious to those who have not been there before ... Past it several times when initially looking for it before I actually found it
Review 85:Friendly helpful supportive staff Their readiness to listen & provide accurate local knowledge info & good guidance from directions to tourist sites bus & train travel & cost expected to pay etc ; assistance with storing & holding luggage even after check out ... All very much appreciated & made for a comfortable & easy transition to the airport home
Review 86:-situated on the thrid floor of a house with no sign outside so we ended up walking around and calling the reception to give us the directions -filthy bathroom, the shower was disgusting -poor breakfast, coffee only, no tea/water/juice/anything
Review 87:-the location was good and the staff was very nice
Review 88:No WI/FI, typical Italian A/C which barely cools.
Review 89:Location, price, breakfast which offered more than most B&Bs. It is in an immigrant neighborhood. We felt safe and there were cheap places to eat nearby.
Review 90:I wouldn't recommend sleeping with the windows open because you will certainly hear cars driving on the nearby roads at all hours of the day and night.
Review 91:It was the first time in Rome for both my girlfriend and myself, so we wanted to be close to everything, and that's exactly what we got with Santa Maria B&B. We stayed 4 nights. This is in a very good location, near a lot of restaurants. Extremely close to a metro, which was very convenient! Walking distance to all the big tourist attractions, anywhere between a 5 to 30 minute walk, or quicker if you take the metro. It's in an area that gets calm at night so it wasn't too loud when we went to sleep, although you would occasionally hear cars passing by outside, especially if the windows were open. But there is AC so we never needed to sleep with the windows open. Big plus was the knowledgeable and friendly staff who were always happy to suggest a restaurant and answer all our questions. The room was nice and clean. Not VERY big, but not small either. Their continental breakfast was a good way to start the day. I would definitely consider staying here again.
Review 92:On last night next rooms TV was far to loud and had to get out of bed to get them to turn down. Inn would have been very difficult to find if not for taxi driver.
Review 93:The room was comfortable for the money paid.
Review 94:Сreaking bed, one towel for person, what very strange - one towel for face and legs, bad wi-fi. No shelves in the shower - it is so uncomfortable. But all of this are details - in whole our staying was very nice.
Review 95:Not the place creates a mood but the people in it. Very friendly ыефаа. We arrived at 9 am, but check in was at 10 am. The administrator (very fine boy) leave our bags near him and gave us the vauchers for the light breakfast in nice cafe which is closed by the hotel. Then he offered us to see the room, and choose it. The hotel is very small, there are 6 or 7 rooms on the one floor, but comfortable. Not so bad area around Termini, what many people expect. The road from hotel to Vatican by foot takes 50 min, really! Breakfast at the hotel is usual, not something special, but enogh.
Review 96:tried to charge us for air-con not 24hr reception - wanted to complain that the TV never worked, but didn't see anyone around! room service knocked on door, by the time I got to it they were entering, I told them I needed 10minutes and they entered the room anyway and started talking about something pointing to light switch and plug. uncomfortable bed (2singles pushed together in a double) area of room room service also tidied up personal belongings - folded up clothes and put on a shelf, hung up my towels, tidied the desk which had our toiletries on, onward tickets etc,
Review 97:free wifi large rooms luggage storage close to train station
Review 98:Overall, the location is amazing. Smack in the middle of it all. Finding it is a pain, as it is poorly mapped on GPS. It's super close to the train station but armed with just a print out of a map and a GPS with the address of the Inn it took us an hour to find it.
Review 99:The free breakfast is delicious! Croissants, coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cappuccino machine, ham, jam, breakfast bars. A 15 minute walk to the Colosseum.
Review 100:There were no complaints.
Review 101:I stayed at this hotel a few days ago and I had a good experience. There is no 24 hour reception, so about a week before I arrived, the staff emailed me to ensure that I was still coming, and also to give me directions. The hotel is very close to the nearest metro and is in a safe neighborhood, although one of the nearby parks is not. I was late arriving to the hotel, but the receptionist waited outside for me so that I could see him. I was given the information for internet access and then shown to my room. The room was very spacious. I had a standard room will a full size bed that was actually two single beds pushed together. The bed was very comfortable. However, the decor is outdated and the room needed some cleaning around the baseboards and the floors of the shower. I guess the hotel had been reading the reviews about their disappointing breakfast, so they made a change. There are no more vouchers for a little cafe down the street. For breakfast, I had an assortment of breads, meats and cheeses. There were also fruits, juices, coffee, tea, water, marmalades and jams. The breakfast was very good. Overall, I had a very good stay at the Santa Maria Inn and when I return to Rome, I will stay at this budget friendly hotel.
Review 102:It was hard to find the hotel. It's just the basic B&B..wish they have a bigger sign board as we spent hours to find the building although it was very closed.
Review 103:The staff was friendly and easy to commute to the main attractions
Review 104:Location was ok however some nearby spots at night were not safe so we were basically running from metro station to the place at night when going back to room. Breakfast was awfully poor. I would not stay there again.
Review 105:Rooms were clean some of the staff was nice (and some wasn't).
Review 106:-The room - photos on booking.com tend to be misleading or else we drew the short straw. - Cleanliness, excessive mould around base of shower, loose hand basin - Breakfast, very basic, one bun and one coffee and remote from building - Air conditioning, cost additional, Euro5. Rattled and was ineffective, venting internally - Tea making facilities, needed to request these. - Area, very dirty and scruffy neighbourhood.
Review 107:Not much Staff were enthusiastic and helpful. Location - convenient to Termini
Review 108:We had an early departure and had no possibility to have breakfast-the kitchen was closed at 6 o cklock in the morning. So the staff gave us some biscuits and fruits to have breakfast in the train. Also it is close to a lot of sightseens if you go by metro.the breakfast is good-I thought it would be only coffee with cruassanes but there were two places to go -the bar with cruassanes and a place on the second floor with normal breakfast
Review 109:Had a wonderful time, great staff that waited for us to arrive at 10pm on the street. As it is an Inn you have to tell them in advanced via email the time you expect to arrive. Ours changed last min due to our flights from NL but we were put to ease by an almost instant reply. The room, space and facilities were just what we needed. It was super quiet and dark and had great air-con. The area is great so close to everything and you can always find your way back on public transport because of the train station. Although the streets closer to the station do seem a little dodgy but as soon as you are away from them you are in a good area. We just walked south of the station straight away and walked along other roads. Breakfast was excellent, they had everything there, but also the coffee and brioche form the cafe up the road was a good first stop before seeing the sights. Can not rave about the place enough. Can't wait to go back.
Review 110:When we arrived, we couldn't find the place. I called and the lady in charge gave me directions and waved us down from the window. We had to leave early the next morning, missing the included breakfast. We did not ask her for this but she kindly brought yogurt, fruits, and snacks to our room so we wouldn't leave hungry the next morning. Walking in the room you felt the cleanliness of the place, I did not feel uncomfortable for one minute.
Review 111:I didn't like two things and they are quite important points First the location of the building is incorrect as in Google so it took me long time to find it. Second they put a picture of almost a naked woman in the room although this is accepted in some cultures but not all the religions and cultures accept it.
Review 112:I like the rooms are big and good air conditioning
Review 113:If your room is on the street that faces the busy road, then the road noise from traffic is quite loud and all night - no smooth bitumen here
Review 114:Close to the railway station for those transiting through or arriving late/leaving early from trains. Staff happy to leave bags there past checkout time.
Review 115:The air conditioning was not good.
Review 116:The room was good in almost all aspects except for the air conditioning. In July, it is very difficult without air conditioning.
Review 117:Flexibilty of personnel. Very friendly and cooperative. They even offered us the opportunity to change clothes and refresh our selves at the end of our departure day.
Review 118:Be careful of airconditioning Terms and Conditions. A surchage of 5 euro per room was suggested as normal for Booking.com bookings.
Review 119:Very friendly, professional manager. Sorted out all problems very quickly. Good location, and VERY clean rooms.
Review 120:- air conditioner wasnt included in price, there wasnt any notification about this fact - if you will take breakfast, please be aware that you will not got juice or water instead of cappuccino. It happened to me first time in Roma to me - I wanted to claim it to the hotel's personals, but nobody was there. I left rest of breakfast vouchers in the hotel with keys when I left - the room was oriented to busy street. I could not sleep well - based on this experience I would not recommend to you to stay there. For that price you can get similar accommodation in same place for same money (as I got last year, have to say that I did mistake to not go there again)
Review 121:Everything was perfect! Lovely modern clean room, fantastic bathroom. The staff couldn't have been more helpful!! We would definitely return! :) c
Review 122:When we checked in, the "concierge" gave us a map and circled location and places to visit. That was the last time we saw anyone in the reception despite of the various times we entered and exited the Inn in 5 days. Safe in the room was dismantled due to the accident with the previous guests, but no other option was given to us to store thins we intended to keep in the safe. Wi-Fi was working 3/5 days we stayed in the Inn. Since reception was constantly unattended we had no one to ask for the reason. Upon arrival you will be given vouchers for "Breakfast included" to redeem in a cafe nearby. However the voucher only includes danish and cappuccino that you can only consume inside, even though there are tables outside of the cafe beautifully set up. Imagine danish and cappuccino for 5 days! The cafe is very nice with large variety of pastries, sandwiches and sweets that are fresh and look scrumptious. I just wish we were told about breakfast voucher content in advance.
Review 123:Santamaria Inn was located close to main train station and The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, which is the largest church in Rome. We walked to Colosseum and Forum. The Inn is located on the third floor of a building with nice marble interior. Our room was small, very basic, but clean.
Review 124:Old bad frame. The area between hotel and the train station is sketchy at night.
Review 125:They have a nice breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the subway station and rooms are large.
Review 126:This is not a hotel, it is an apartment, the picture above is not the receiption desk The address is incomplete, the GPS is wrong in Google map There is no hotel nameboard on the front of the building. It will take at least 1 hour to find the place even if you phone them! They don't accept the cancellation In booking.com I would never met such a false place. The rooms are different then the pictures in the website The price is too much for such a place.
Review 127:We have asked before we made the reservation about the wifi and they said it is present and it did not work well. We had to go to the reception to get connected to the wifi. It was very hard for us. There is not a recertionist for 24 hours so if there is aproblem at night you can not solve it. Th entrance of the building is very dirty. It is not inside the hotel region but you have to pass through it in order to get to the second floor. We satyed for four days and the dead insects on the floor stayed there for four days. Nobody cleans the place. In the rooms you can hear everything outside. The isolation of the rooms are not good. It was very noisy at night when the other guests were speaking in the hall.
Review 128:The staff was helpfull.
Review 129:the breakfast was a big disappointment, the location was quite difficult to find
Review 130:Clean and comfortable
Review 131:We had a comfortable stay ,friendly staff and very decent breakfast served there also luggage storing option :)
Review 132:Tough to find, even though Google map
Review 133:Everything
Review 134:Clearness is better
