Reviews for Narita Excel Hotel Tokyu

Review 1:the staff at breakfast time were a bit rude

Review 2:The room and location were great, frequent and free shuttles to the airport and also to local attractions like the temple and mall. the hotel itself had lovely grounds and very comfortable and clean rooms with a great breakfast! we arrived really late and the guy who checked us in was very friendly and helpful

Review 3:Probably not enough western style food for breakfast on day one. We are flexible to customary foods but probably just a few more selections would have been good. Considering we realised some outer Regional areas catered for it.

Review 4:Quick convenient location.

Review 5:The bus service to Narita needs to be looked at. Just drops in middle of know where with no explanation of what is around. This service needs better planning by management.

Review 6:Great value hotel well located to airport

Review 7:Nothing.

Review 8:Staff welcomed us with his warmed smile, directed us to the registration counter on 20 Dec at 10pm. Counter staff attended us with his warmed smile, efficient and provide us correct & useful info.

Review 9:As we arrived late in the evening after more than 11 hrs of flight booked this place to stay for a night before traveling to Shinjuku. Good place for a night. Clean, beds were firm and comfy. Even the sofa bed was really good! Really appreciate the humidifier cum air purifier in the room.

Review 10:The bathroom was a bit small but still nice and clean.

Review 11:The staff were exceptional. Very helpful and we'll mannered and everything was easily accessible.

Review 12:Everything else was terrible. I would definitely not recommended this horrible place. The first room I had smelled like smoke (non-smoking) and mold. It also had burns in the drapes, wallpaper was peeling off of the walls and all appliances were old. The pictures of this place are misleading to say the least. I ordered a cheeseburger one night that was not good and cost me 2,300 jpy. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

Review 13:Close to airport, nice reception area and upstairs bar/dining.

Review 14:The hotel receives a lot of international guests and not all behave very courtously when checking in. This kind of puts you off when used to Japanese courtesey and service. This is no fault of the hotel but what happens in many places. The staff does what it can.

Review 15:My review is based on 5 visits in total. The Hotel is excellently sited for an overnight stay before a morning flight from Narita. The staff is very helpful and everything proceeds smoothly. The breakfast is international but there is a full Japanese option at the buffet which I like. The penthouse Japanese restaurant AZUMA is high class and really worth visting. The price is high but the food is classy and the view is fantastic. Only draw back that they seem to close around 9pm.

Review 16:Room wasn't explained well so we ended up looking in the wrong part of the building. Room service order was expensive and incorrect. Main vending machines were on set floors but in the another part of the building. Bed very uncomfortable. Toilet not screwed on straight. Room felt very dated.

Review 17:Hotel was close to the airport, free shuttle was fantastic and professional.

Review 18:Breakfast was not included in the room rate, and the paid-for dinner buffet-style was not really impressive. Breakfast was tasty though.

Review 19:Not too expensive and close to the Narita airport, with nice free airport shuttle. Rather spacious room.

Review 20:We discovered later that there were vending machines, washer/dryers, microwave, toaster, ironing board at the basement and another restaurant in the 11th floor. This should have been explained during check-in.

Review 21:The staff were excellent in accommodating us. The room was a comfortable with good WiFi connection and the free breakfast buffet had good selections.

Review 22:The shuttle from the airport took 45 minutes at least and has narrow hours of operation. The hotel is isolated with no restaurants nearby so you need to eat at the hotel, which is expensive (to be expected). Highly recommend this hotel for layover travel.

Review 23:Hotel was great. We used it for a 16 hour layover between Denver and Yangon which eliminated jet lag. Small rooms which are to be expected. Business center charged by 10 minute increments which worked for checking email. We ate in the Japanese restaurant and enjoyed a 4 star breakfast buffet. Very helpful staff and free shuttle to airport. Excellent value and the desk staff offered a day rate if we wanted to stay there on our return trip (we instead elected to tour the Narita Airport Shopping Mall instead, and found rent-by-the-half hour showers for $10 apiece).

Review 24:The lack of choices for restaurants and the prices. The area was isolated

Review 25:Frequent Shuttle buses to the airport and to the town of Narita, the garden, the very helpful, efficient staff, the closeness to the airport

Review 26:Room could do with a bit of a facelift decor looks a little in need of tlc

Review 27:Close to airport and good shuttle service very quiet and great swimming pool

Review 28:It seems to be that all non smoking room was a smoking room , because I can even smell the smoke in non smoking room , please improve on that.

Review 29:It's a good location specially when I had a international flight to catch the next day.

Review 30:As a non-Japanese traveller, the hotel did not seem to provide services such as booking dinners or travel advice. Though, we did not specifically ask, their English seemed limited when we checked in.

Review 31:The room was perfect for our stay. While it was small, the bed was very comfortable and it was extremely clean. The wifi worked very well and the room had a fridge and kettle.

Review 32:All was good.

Review 33:The bus running from the airport to the Hotel on a regular basis. Rooms were nice and spacious (the ones I had). friendly and efficient staff. Reasonably priced food at the ground floor restaurant.

Review 34:Very convenient! And the facilities were nice and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet during our stay. Also appreciated the free shuttle service to Narita town, Aeon Mall and the airport.

Review 35:Just needed a hotel for one night close to Narita airport - it was very affordable, and with good facilities. The free shuttle bus to/from the airport is very convenient.

Review 36:Nothing really.

Review 37:Very near to the Narita Airport, and for the price we paid, you can't beat this hotel. we got to the hotel later than we planned at 10 pm, but they were waiting for us and other 20 or so guests to serve the buffet dinner. absolutely they did not have to do that, because nobody had to pay for this meal. to be honest, this was a pleasant surprise.

Review 38:Toilet a bit old and bidet not working.

Review 39:Great way to end our holiday in Tokyo. The shuttle services to and from Narita airport (both terminal 1& 2), Keisei Narita station and Aeon mall are timely and most convenient. Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. The koi pond garden is beautiful and have few cosy nooks with comfy sofa for nice chats with friends or just to sit and relax. Coffee vending machines are available (200yen).

Review 40:I liked everything, really. First of all, it's not far away from Narita Station - 2000 yen by taxi only. Personal was kind, room is clean and comfortable. Also nice little shop with snacks and drinks on 6th floor. Free bus to airport was also important. If had more time, could enjoy waterpool and garden as well.

Review 41:The nonsmoking room booked smelt as if it had been a smoking room in a former life. The decor is a bit dated and tired.

Review 42:The close proximity to Narita Airport makes this hotel a good overnight option. There is a Japanese bathhouse in the hotel which makes staying here even more worthwhile!

Review 43:The hotel onsen was not available in the morning prior to checkout.

Review 44:Access to and from Narita International airport was very good with regular shuttle buses.

Review 45:Unfortunately, bath rooms are dated as well as jacuzzi at the swimming pool.

Review 46:All the staff were very helpful. Room was clean and pleasant. Dinner buffet has got good variety of Japanese food and me and my 9 year old daughter really enjoyed them. Paying extra to up grade, then you will get a great view!

Review 47:The view from the roof terrace bar of the sky tree lit up at night The food was good and as a vegetarian it wAs good to see an English menu as we didn't really find any others in the local area. the location is great, very near the temple and the boats down to Ginza and Tokyo Bay. the hotel was well priced for its location and quality

Review 48:There is nothing near the hotel itself so you are required to wait for shuttles to go anywhere.

Review 49:Great spot to stay for a layover. Easy to get to narita city and back to the airport.

Review 50:The room is clean and I ask for non-smoking room but I still be able to smell smoke from my previous room guests.I might be picky on this but if you are non-smoker, you are very sensitive to this kind of smell and it bothers you a lot. Think about this if you cannot breath good, nothing else will please you. To the hotel, please separate non-smoking& smoking from each other if you cannot clean it good enough. One more thing, there is toilet in the room but the bidet(the thing that stick out and spray clean female part) is very dirty, salami black....brrrrrrrr..yucky yike!!! Clean toilet better guys not only the top but clean under the toilet seat too.

Review 51:I like that they have a lot of shuttle bus to and from the airport, very clean and luxury public area, very nice polite and very helpful staffs.

Review 52:The food options in the hotel were pricey. The food was ok. The room was stuffy and the beds were not very comfortable.

Review 53:The staff was polite. The hotel was clean and located next to airport.Shuttle was well kept and on time. The landscaping around the hotel was nice.

Review 54:Carpet looks old. The hand held shower hose keep knocking at the bathtub, the sound created is disturbing and can be heard by other house guests

Review 55:Courteous staffs. Timely airport transport service.

Review 56:Shuttle bus to Aeon mall is not frequent enough during noon time, would be better if there can be more bus to airport as well.

Review 57:Easy access from narita airport. Good value of money paid as I prepaid earlier.

Review 58:Food in the restaurant were plain, tasteless, had a long wait to get it and were a directly disgusting look... My room were not cleaned for 3 days straight... The bathtub and the door to the bath were so small I had problems entering the bath or bathtub...

Review 59:Easy access to the Airport for arrival and departure..

Review 60:quality of food is debateable and certainly overpriced for what it is in hotel reatuarant.

Review 61:spacious room and comfortable bed with all amenities such as kettle coffee tea etc. dated décor and a little shabby but clean overall good shuttle bus service to airport and local town which is main reason for staying here

Review 62:Terribly old fashioned rooms, never been updated since the 60's. Hotel seems to be getting enough business not to need to improve it's facilities. Room guide still talks about DIAL UP INTERNET. Was unable to get WiFi to work, and I'm an IT engineer. Shower didn't stick properly, but pressure was very good at least.

Review 63:Location near airport, good shuttle, good reception, good breakfast.

Review 64:Food was inedible and staff in restaurant cold. Japanese bbci around outside pool area smelled awful and was really noisy and off putting.

Review 65:Shuttle bus. Nice reception area and clean. Efficient

Review 66:Great room, they put me in a nice room after I complained about someone had been smoking in a NON Smoker. Great Breakfast and Buffe dinner. Pool out side with a grill party at night

Review 67:It was hard to get WiFi on the first day, but it work on the second day.

Review 68:Excellent shuttle service and reception. Good big beds, lifts with views, bathroom well equipped. Good shower and a bath, slippers and robes. Tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Review 69:Figuring out the wifi code was fairly confusing and required a call to the front desk. Other than that, no complaints!

Review 70:The breakfast was great, and the shuttle to the airport was the reason we stayed here - it was well organized and timely. The hotel was very close to the airport!

Review 71:Didn't realise you had to pay extra for using onsen / swimming pool etc. Pillows are extremely uncomfortable and very bright bedside light / clock.

Review 72:Chinese restaurant good food. Good airport shuttle.. Very frequent. Good amenities.

Review 73:I was very much afraid using the bathtub. There was nothing in the tub to prevent you from falling once you were in. It was very slippery.

Review 74:I had made certain request in advance, and it was taken care of without any problems. Since I have trouble walking, I was worried about getting around. The staff took care of everything, even having someone to take my bags to my room without my asking. That was wonderful. The staff were also very friendly.

Review 75:The fitness room doesn't open till 0800! That is useless! I was so disappointed. I explicitly chose this hotel so I could workout before my 13 hour flight but this made that impossible.

Review 76:Great price, location.

Review 77:Although the staff were very friendly their understanding of Englishwasn't that good. We asked about local shops and was told there wasa 7/11 down the road. On our return stay we found out they ran afree shuttle bus to the local shopping area - feel like we lost a day onour first stay. :(

Review 78:The hotel in located close to the airport and has a good variety ofrestaurants.

Review 79:Slight odor of tobacco smoke even though we were in non-smoking rooms. Even stronger in the corridor.

Review 80:Fairly spacious for a Japanese hotel. Good amenities including cotton pajamas/bathrobe for sleeping, toothbrush, hairbrush, shaver, hair ties, etc. Twin beds were wider than usual.

Review 81:Food was over priced for what it was and no alternatives nearby. Being asked to pay an additional 1500 yen because I arrived an hour before check in time - my room was ready. Did not get a refund for leaving 3 hours before checkout time.

Review 82:Comfortable, clean and quiet. 20 minutes from the airport with regular free shuttle buses.

Review 83:Excellent transport, free airport shuttle bus and bus service to shopping mall and Narita train station to get into Tokyo. Good indoor pool, Japanese bath house, gym all included. Good free WiFi. Take up the option of breakfast, variety of buffet food both western and Japanese. Overall staff very helpful, extremely polite. Had a good 4 day stay. Rooms are very clean but getting dated needs a bit of an update with carpets and wallpaper as spots and marks are starting to really show. If your not expecting 5star then this is the place for you. Will return again.

Review 84:impossible to eat anything after 10pm - all the restaurants, bars in hotel were closed (Wednesday), only room service worked, anything possible to eat near the hotel as well; not a nice smell in the room, equipment in bathroom was quite old and quite old (visible old yellow colour on)

Review 85:location close to Narita Airport; regular free of charge hotel buses; very good (compared to other japanees hotels) breakfast

Review 86:No onsen. Need to rent a stupid bathcap to use the pool.

Review 87:Very close to the airport, with free shuttles to the two terminals, as well as downtown Narita.

Review 88:Upon arrival, I was told by the woman clerk that I did not have areservation and told that I had to pay more than the price booking.comquoted me. Then after paying in cash (yen) at time of check-in, when Iwas trying to board a bus, I was told (in front of all the customers)that I did not pay for my hotel bill and taken to two different places. The front desk told this woman employee that I did pay and I never evergot even an apology. Then for the two times when I went to havebreakfast, I was the only person stopped and accused of not paying formy breakfast when I did and it was confirmed by the front desk that Idid. They never checked anyone else coming or leaving the dining area. Idressed properly and was clean and gave no one any reason to treat me inthat manner.

Review 89:you cannot get there durectlyu by public transport.

Review 90:The hotel was nice - the personel is very nice. The room was nice and comfortable. We has a room on the 7th floor with a nice view to the airport. Shuttel bus is available for free and it takes 10-15 minutes to get to the airport. Bath is not for free. The swimmimg pool is for free but please remeber about having a swim cap. This is mandatory, but you can also rent it for 180 yen.

Review 91:Although the room is "non smoking" the corridors smell of stale smoke. It would be preferred to have a "non smoking" floor.

Review 92:This hotel is convenient to the Narita airport and a great stopping point after a long international flight. I often stay a night in this hotel before beginning my travel in Japan. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The breakfast buffet is exceptional.

Review 93:Rooms still have this seventies vibe, have no idea what pillows were made of but very uncomfortable, drinks at the restaurant are ridiculously expensive.

Review 94:Reception area, restaurants and garden are nice.Didn't expect much it's just an airport hotel.

Review 95:Restaurant not so good, merely adequate and overpriced. Its expense makes up for the bargain of the room.

Review 96:Amazing facilities esp for an airport hotel. pool , coy pond, beautiful gardens.

Review 97:Even though we had a non-smoking room, there was still a bit of smoke smell in the room and corridors.

Review 98:It's very convenient to stay in this hotel, if you need to be quickly at the airport. There is a free shuttle bus that takes only 15-20 min to Narita airport.

Review 99:LOTS of LOUD huge tourist groups coming in and out throughout the whole day NOISY throughout entire night smoke in nonsmoking room nobody to help with luggage at entrance

Review 100:proximity to hotel free shuttle to airport

Review 101:These hotels are designed for big tour groups, and for travelling to airport, so don't use them for any other purpose and you won't be disappointed.

Review 102:Hotel was handy for airport.

Review 103:Fairly dated facilities (had a seventies feel) and our non-smoking room smelled a bit strongly of cigarette smoke.m

Review 104:Great location - close to airport. We had excellent views. Comfortable bed and room. Facilities, eg pool and restaurants were fine. Staff were helpful, for example organised another shuttle bus when the first was filled in the morning.

Review 105:Nothing

Review 106:Very close to Narita airport, they have a bus to connect between airport and hotel. The hotel room is old but comfort and not very tiny compared normal normal room size in Japan. All staffs are very kind.

Review 107:giant hotel, very full, despite the many people ther was no stress at breakfast. breakfast was fine and many things to chose. The right choice near the airport

Review 108:I literally had to pull up the reviews on this hotel I looked at prior to booking this place because I was in such disbelief. It has pretty good reviews and not one complaint of dirtiness. Is it different floor by floor? If so, pray you do not stay on the 5th floor. The odor of the floor itself was extremely off putting. It truly smelled like something had died, and the smell was permanently locked in the hallway. I had to hold my breath to make it to the room. Our room was extremely outdated, and between the mustiness, smell, and old furnishings, we just felt dirty. Obviously other people have stayed here and enjoyed it, but just request a different room if you find you are placed on the 5th floor. Oh and if you use the staircase to go to the vending machine (not on every floor), you will see a box nicely labeled "rat box" in English on every floor. Could be preventative, but still, very off-putting.

Review 109:Free airport shuttle, was able to check in even at midnight.

Review 110:My wife and son loved the pool facilities. Large room for Japan. Very comfortable, and good value. Free shuttle to NRT. Great for last night before flight out.

Review 111:No problems

Review 112:Evening buffet did not have a lot of choice for a vegetarian but after a word with a staff member the chef produced a delicious veggie meal, thank you

Review 113:Beds were very hard, especially the 3rd bed in the room (sofa bed). If you dont like Japanse breakfast, breakfast is very poor. A croissant and jam, yoghurt and just one cereal is all there is. Disgusting looking scrambled eggs.

Review 114:Buffer dinner was nice, with steak made to order.

Review 115:if this was truly an airport hotel they would have 21 hour days from time of check in. It is unsatisfactory to turf people out at 11 or deny people a room before 2 if arriving on an early am flight.

Review 116:Airport transfer was good

Review 117:breakfast queue so big we didn't get any! Best to go early if you are flying in the morning. Also 2k+ yen each

Review 118:free shuttle, convenient location, coin computer and printer, comfortable, quiet, clean

Review 119:loved it all.

Review 120:We stayed in the main wing in a traditional Japaneses room with the magnificent view of the traditional garden, never experienced anything like this before, i think this was the highlight of my 2 weeks trip.

Review 121:Supposed it was peak season during the cherry blossom & the coach could not accommodate all pax from all the terminals. I am hoping that the remaining pax do not need to wait for another hour for the next pick up.

Review 122:Lovely indoor swimming pool open till late in the evening. So refreshing to have a swim before or after a long journey. Very comfortable and quiet (even though close to the airport); attractive gardens. We would have been very happy to stay there for longer and not just use it before our flight. Varied buffet breakfast. Excellent value for money.

Review 123:The facilities were kind of old. The automatic water closet/toilet bowl didn't work properly. The beds were low. The Gardenia restaurant where buffet breakfast was, had an unpleasant odor, must be because of the old carpets. The front desk staff was courteous but there was no one to help with our luggages. Although not a big deal for us.

Review 124:Since we had an early morning flight, we booked this hotel on our last night in Japan because of its proximity to Narita Airport and its free shuttle service. The bus was right on schedule, very precise! The free breakfast was a plus and was just ok, nothing noteworthy.

Review 125:No real food options near the hotel and the bed wasn't the most comfortable. In-room food options are a little pricey.

Review 126:Close to the airport and free shuttle running very frequently is a nice touch. Great value for money.

Review 127:There was nothing that I didn't like.

Review 128:Free pickup from the airport and train station to the hotel (2 coaches per hour but not a problem if you have checked the timetable beforehand). Room is spacious and good breakfast.

Review 129:Smell of urine in the bathroom. The bath tube was not cleaned well. Bathroom needs renovation. Nothing works properly in the bathroom. Chinese restaurant: spent almost 2.5 hours for the dinner. Waiting, waiting, waiting... Very expensive, dark and slow.

Review 130:Transfer to/from the airport is well organized. The bed was comfortable. Breakfastc was god.

Review 131:I was in transit and had to spend the night in Narita. This hotel was great value and very convenient to the airport. Free shuttle to and from so helpful.

Review 132:If you arrive before 2:00 p.m., you have to pay a premium to check in early even if they rooms to spare. Otherwise you have to wait until 2:00 p.m. to check in.

Review 133:Free shuttle bus and great location for guests who have to catch early flights out of Tokyo.

Review 134:The charge for the breakfast buffet (2100 yen) seems high.

Review 135:The staff were extremely helpful. The Japanese restaurant where we ate dinner was first rate

Review 136:Not necessarily bad - it was just a bit big for me! It's a large and efficient hotel. I prefer to stay in Narita as it's a really nice city (for an overnight at least from airport) with great eateries, lane ways to explore and more. So just location.

Review 137:Nice restaurant (Chinese) with good night time view. Plenty of facilities including gym and pool. Large room and free wifi. Airport shuttle efficient.
