Reviews for Gallia Palace Hotel - Relais & Châteaux
Review 1:- I booked a 35 sqm room with “view”. They gave us a room (no. 122) that they claimed to have 40 sqm but which in reality had only 18- 20 sqm - they had added the area of the bathroom, the lobby and the balcony (!!) in order to obtain the 40sqm. The view was to the car parking, with a bush in front of the balcony and a road. When I complained the lady receptionist became cheeky. - The room was noisy - one could hear all noises on the hotel corridor and from outside. - The room was not only small, but ill-functional: a useless large hall, a dysfunctional bathroom (shower devices, toilet), hardly working air conditioner , uncomfortable bed with a hard mattress. - Plenty of hungry mosquitoes and other insects in the room, hotel lobby, restaurant, everywhere, all the time, extremely annoying every day. - Poor breakfast , mediocre lunch, much overpriced dinner – we decided not to go any longer to their lunch and dinner after the first two days. - They charge you separately for the beach (50 euro / day). At the beach bar they cheat you if you order draft beer: if you order the medium one, they give you the small one. The umbrellas & sunbeds on the beach are very close to each other and even 80% of the beach was empty, they wanted to crowd all people going to beach all together.
Review 2:The region is beautiful (it’s not Gallia’s merit however), some hotel staff did try to be nice and helpful, live music at the bar.
Review 3:The food at the beach restaurant (not the buffet lunch) was not good enough. The menu very basic and poorly executed. We didn't find the main hotel restaurant menu imaginative either.
Review 4:From arriving the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The beach facilities were very good. The beach dinner party was super.
Review 5:Pricing for food and beverage is not transparent. Menus don't show prices and they didn't make it clear enough how much each offering was. Took us until check-out to figure out what was included in the lunch buffet and what not, for instance. In the end we didn't receive a fully itemized bill which made it hard to follow. It appears that - despite good quality - the food and beverages are quite a bit overpriced. There aren't a whole lot of local alternatives, though.
Review 6:Nice hotel from the 1960's that's been kept up well and offers efficient (room) layouts. 7 minute walk from a nice beach club offering a good lunch buffet. Beach is not very private but well managed. Very kid friendly place overall.
Review 7:The use of the beach facilities is rather expensive (but we were informed timely and so were prepared for it). Again, the hotel restaurant was too expensive and so we opted out (perhaps a more reasonable a-la-cart menu price list would have encouraged us to spend one evening in)
Review 8:Excellent facility at the beach. Warm welcome. The evenings at the piano-bar
Review 9:Air conditioning barely works. Hallway in mornings smelled like a toilet.
Review 10:Great location and very nice hotel.
Review 11:Service of the hotel was excellent
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:The location and the place were excellent. Crew and direction was amazingly gentle and kind
Review 14:Being a 5 star hotel, there were charges for everything imaginable- charge for tennis court use (EUR 10 per hour) - charge for Wi-Fi (EUR 5) - expensive charges for lunch and dinners - beach hire could have been better priced (50 EUR cost for beach loungers, table and cabin The place was too conservative to our liking - being a beach resort the staff didn't need to have a silver spoon approach. A more relaxed hotel and environment would have been better - although most of the clientele there were older (seniors) therefore this hotel may have catered to that
Review 15:Staff friendly
Review 16:Decor could be updated a bit!! Too old.
Review 17:Great food and service. Fantastic beach! Best ever for kids.
Review 18:rooms are dated food was well below par expensive for the facilities
Review 19:pool is nice
