Reviews for Hotel Forte

Review 1:Would like some fresh fruit options at breakfast please

Review 2:A lovely hotel in a great location - very clean and comfortable rooms. Have stayed here before and would be our hotel of choice to return again

Review 3:Annoying things. Small rooms. Noise from the street and from reception early in the morning disturbs sleep. A serious problem of ventilation in the bathroom and insufficient shower space that almost impossible to enter.

Review 4:Good things. Good breakfast. There is hot water 24 hours. Excellent and courteous staff, very happy to help with any question or request. Metro station is available nearby. A nice place to walk at night on nearby streets filled with tourists, bars, restaurants and shops open until late at night. Nearby supermarket is five hundred meters from the hotel.

Review 5:Wifi is extra.

Review 6:Best location in Rome, close to Metro station, shops, restaurants, cafes. From there you can go almost everywhere by feet. Great breakfast.

Review 7:The rooms are small, not enough place to put your stuff. Make sure to get a room in the renovated wing as in the old one the rooms are awful.

Review 8:It is a nice and very small hotel but its location is a winner. The beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is nice as well. The staff is welcoming and helpful.

Review 9:The rooms were a bit small, the bathroom was a bit oddly out together (bidet having all room, toilet none), thin walls allow for a lot of noise transfer, renovations that weren't acknowledged at booking time, ok but not great mattresses, and a shower that could not have been smaller...couldn't get soap/shampoo without banging into two walls.

Review 10:Great location-walking distance (for us) to every major attraction, staff was quite nice and accommodating, clean rooms, felt safe at all hours in the area outside the hotel, GREAT ability to block outside light coming into the room (curtains x2 and shutters)

Review 11:I would not say that the staff were particularly friendly. They were rather indifferent. Our other hotels in Italy had a more accommodating staff.

Review 12:The breakfast is OK. Croissants were old and stale, but the bacon and eggs were enjoyable. This hotel served canned fruit. This is unforgivable in a country like Italy with so much fresh fruit. The hotel is clean.

Review 13:The internet speed and quality made it impossible to do an early check in with the airline. The internet was generally terrible.

Review 14:Very friendly staff, silent room, good location

Review 15:Beautiful beautiful hotel. Loved the traditional feel of the place. The ever so helpful staff. With it being just myself and my 13 year old daughter the safeness of the hotel and the area was amazing leading to a relaxed break away.

Review 16:nothing was bad - registering the wifi everyday was an inconvenience but that apart there was nothing to complain about.

Review 17:Helpfulness of staff, location and general degree of comfort and peacefulness

Review 18:Would be nice to have free wi fi. Everything else was perfect.

Review 19:Excellent location in a beautiful leafy street a stone throw from the Spanish Steps. Close to the metro and an abundance of eateries

Review 20:The room was a little bit dark and small. Breakfast could be better.

Review 21:The location was perfect, just few minutes away from from Spanish Steps and the hotel was located on a quite, pretty street.

Review 22:Pay extra for WiFi but then nearly impossible to get or keep a signal. Skip the WiFi. Room very small with tiny, unventilated bathroom.

Review 23:Great location for exploring Rome. Very nice area of the city for shopping. Nice breakfast included with cordial staff. All very clean.

Review 24:very small room for 3 people, you can't leave the car even for min in front of the building, in order to take/organize the luggage, don't have enough space for breakfast - 5 tables only

Review 25:location, breakfast, staff (they gave us a lot of precious details regarding Roma's itinerary and specific areas to visit like: best coffee, best icecream, etc), possibility to watch most recent movies at TV, for 6 eur/day

Review 26:Single room is very small and since at end of hallway, wifi was minimal strength. Tinny bathroom. Would have paid the little bit extra for a double room had I known.

Review 27:The staff was very helpful and friendly. Superb location and great value.

Review 28:The room was very small. The door barely opened. The bedspread was older and looked very dated. Upon arrival we were not sure we were in th right place as there is no reception on the first floor and the lobby looks deserted,

Review 29:The location was great, on a very cute backstreet just near the Sapnich steps. The breakfast was good and filling, even included eggs. The bathroom was clean and a good size.

Review 30:Everything! This lovely hotel is perfectly situated too! Great for access to the Spanish steps, restaurants nearby and close to Metro. Room was really quiet (thanks!), big bonus in Rome! Thank you to the hard working smiley staff at Hotel Forte, hope to see you soon!

Review 31:Hotel is 2 minutes from the Spanish Steps, and surrounding major attractions; Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Coliseum and Piazza Venezia. Albeit small, a very nice and clean room with pretty view, and a modern bathroom.

Review 32:View out the room window was undesirable. Wifi was not reliable at all times. The elevator is antique, which is cool, but we weren't sure about it. Nothing outstanding about our room. I think every room is different here.

Review 33:Tour of Vatican City. Book the tour! Don't stand in line for two hours and guide yourself!

Review 34:Wifi not free for this price, that is not fair. Breakfast was quiet good but we had higher expectations.

Review 35:Hotel location Friendly staff Building itself, very authentic

Review 36:Small bar area with limited choice of drinks. Doubles as breakfast room and can be full-meaning a wait for tables to clear-at peak times in the morning.

Review 37:Nice area and within walking distance of all main tourist sites.

Review 38:Excellent location for good restaurants and shopping. Situated in a reasonably quiet street, clean and helpful, friendly staff. Breakfast is reasonable and the cappuccino is good!

Review 39:Room was really hot so always needed to open window to cool it down.

Review 40:Breakfasts were fabulous and the location was the best! We walked everywhere yet metro was only three blocks away to get home from Vatican City and even that was only a 10 minute ride.

Review 41:No natural light in bedroom as outside shutters couldn't be opened. Very basic breakfast - tinned fruit, watery juice. WIFI should be free.

Review 42:Location Cleanliness Friendly Staff

Review 43:We were always kindly greeted by staff. Loved our room, breakfast was good too. Have stayed here a number of times and would definitely recommend it to others for qualita' prezzo. Great location!

Review 44:The best place for active weekend. Quite and safe backstreet, comfortable and well-equiped room, tasty breackfast, helpfull stuff. Will be glad to stay here again!

Review 45:The room was on the small side despite booking a large room. There was used soap in the bathroom and the bathroom waste bin was not emptied. The room was next to reception and a little noisy (we are light sleepers) a quiet room was booked.a little more care could be taken checking rooms.

Review 46:We liked the location. A little hard to find but worth the effort. Reception was very friendly and efficient despite being very busy. Breakfast was great as was the staff. A great place to stay, very central. Overall a great place to stay.

Review 47:The rooms are a bit on the small side, and some free wifi allowance would have been appreciated.

Review 48:I have stayed at this hotel twice, which is in itself a recommendation. An excellent location, very comfortable beds, good and varied breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 49:for the price wifi could be free

Review 50:excellent location, helpful, friendly desk and breakfast staff, breakfast plentiful, nice old building, clean 4 pc bathroom (liked the magnifying small mirror)

Review 51:I specifically booked this hotel in light of the spacious triple room advertised on the website at an enormous reduction ( allegedly over 70%). Turns out that wasn't the room we got, which appeared to be a double with a single bed squeezed in. The price per night for everyone else was the same as we were charged hence no reduction as claimed. Location great, all concierges charming but no tea and coffee facilities in room, and no facility to order food/ drinks, no bin in bedroom, charge for wifi and limited free tv, rooms dark although clean, and our room smelt of the sewer and the bath had no bath plug.

Review 52:Since recently, there is no chance to reach hotel by car - 2 streets that lead to the hotel are now blocked for pedestrians. So be aware that you will need to have a small walk from taxi station. This brings another issue - it is very difficult to get a taxi from any taxi stations situated nearby (Spanish steps, piazza del Popolo). As the streets are blocked, there are very few cars and taxis which are immediately taken by other tourists. So consider this as your stay will be over and you will be rushing to the airport! As for paid wifi - you are given the password for only 3 gadgets. So if you need more, you will have to ask - probably for extra cost

Review 53:If you are looking for the hotel situated at the "touristic" heart of Rome, then this is the right place. It is situated near Spanish steps, piazza del Popolo, sets from beautiful movie "Roman Holiday" and house where Fellini lived. The hotel was nice: friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, good breakfast. Wifi is paid, but it is affordable

Review 54:Lovely & clean. Location excellent. A quiet spot just off a busy street close enough to walk to all the major sights & some lovely shops. Staff helpful & polite. Good breakfast selection.

Review 55:The rooms are very small. The first room we had was the smallest double room we have ever stayed in. Whilst one person was dressing the other had to stay on the bed!! We asked to swop after 2 nights and the hotel was very good about this. Our second room was better.

Review 56:Hotel Forte is in a great location just round the corner from the Spanish Steps. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is very clean.

Review 57:Bathroom is a wee bit cramped.

Review 58:Staff was attentive, happy and helpful at all hours. Breakfast was better than the average by a good bit. Location to sites, shops, and metro is superb.

Review 59:Arriving to find hotel overbooked and being placed in a tiny room 146 outside the hotel on the spiral staircase. After one night and the hastle of repacking moved to a better room 118. Apologies and wine received but no explanation.

Review 60:Location

Review 61:tiny shower.

Review 62:Wonderful location, you are minutes from the Spanish steps, tucked away in a posh section of the city, quiet. Very small, only a handful of rooms. Few amenities, albeit wifi and breakfast included.

Review 63:The shower head was terrible- we almost had to resort to having a bath in order to have a decent wash. We were in a room above a lane way and it was a bit noisy at night but only until about 11pm. The bed wasn't that comfortable, particularly because our double comprised of two single beds pushed together and would separate during the night leaving a gaping hole in the middle of the bed. The room was tiny, but nothing out of the ordinary for European hotels.

Review 64:We chose Hotel Forte primarily for it's location- Via Margutta is a beautiful, quiet little street just around the corner from Via della Croce and the Spanish Steps. The staff were very friendly and helpful in organising things for us. Breakfast was nice and the lovely ladies would always remember our coffee and bring it to us straight away.

Review 65:room bit noisy next to reception area/small bathroom but seems to be the norm in italy.

Review 66:close to piazza di popolo and spanish steps and tons of restaurants.

Review 67:Bed a bit hard for me. All cousants were flavoured eg Chocolate ,berryetc .No plain ones. That is all

Review 68:The staff The location Amazing size room two windows ,desk ,king sizebed and to top it off tea and coffee making ..Yea. We have stayed t fiveRome Hotl in a month .I likeed this the best.

Review 69:Nothing to dislike. Our room was a little small but we expected that. Comfortable bed and good sized bathroom compensated.

Review 70:Great location from which to celebrate our 35th Wedding anniversary. The welcome tray was a nice and appreciated touch. Near the Spanish steps and spagna tube station which gave us good access to many attractions, not least the Vatican. Hotel reception staff excellent even booking restaurants for us prior to arrival. Recommendations and personal choices of local eateries were excellent. Would highly recommend the hotel as good value in the city centre.

Review 71:The noise in the street under our window was sometimes unbearable. At one stage, in exasperation, a guest leaned out of the window shouting obscenities at passing vehicles. To make matters even worse, a shop alarm went off in the early hours.

Review 72:The location was excellent and the staff very helpful. Breakfast was very good.

Review 73:The room is very dark. You get no window lights inside the room, so for me was quite depressive staying there.

Review 74:the location was Ok. Close to the metro. Convinient for sightseeing.

Review 75:The employees are really nice persons. But the room is too small for family with children and the bathroom is so small and impossible to let parents clean the child.

Review 76:Ads the coat of wifi to the room and don't charge extra it seemstacky, paying 5 euros on top of the room cost would be just fine andcharging extra is a nuisance

Review 77:I loved staying in this hotel in a luxury building with such areasonable price , the hotel could definitely become a 4 star with justa bit of change such as replace the fake flowers with real plants andboom the environment becomes more luxurious, the street the hotel is onis marvelous, the breakfast was more ten adequate and overall afantastic stay, I recommend this hotel for a great stay, don't evenlook for another place

Review 78:No free wifi, 5euro charge for each day

Review 79:The location is fantastic, and staff is very friendly. I wanna thank them for the birthday wine to my husband, very surprised and nice gift.

Review 80:Hotel Forte is very well situated near to the Spanish Steps and Metro station. It is in a quiet back street. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and breakfast is very adequate. You can walk or take the metro to most of the central sites.

Review 81:No parking, but a public car park 15 mins away. Had to pay for wifi and then the signal was very weak or dropped completely.

Review 82:Great location, minutes from Spanish Steps. Good breakfast.

Review 83:The location si one of the most beautiful streets in the center of Rome! The staff is always friendly, smiling and helpfull! I had my birthday during my stay in the hotel and they brought me a wine and chips and nuts and a letter with wishes! The room was veeeeeery clean, we had everything we needed, the breakfast is nice, all in general perfect!!! Grazie mille e congratulazioni per il vostro ottimo albergo! I'll definitely go back soon!

Review 84:The breakfast room is a bit small, especially the tables. The breakfast selection could include more fresh fruits.

Review 85:The location is brilliant - right in the center, in a very quiet street and close to underground. If you can get a good deal, this is an ideal place to stay during your stay in Rome. The room (bed) was confortable with A/C despite the weird layout. The staff was very welcome and pleasant.

Review 86:We have been at this hotel for the second time and if we will plan to visit Rome again we will definitely choose this hotel again. Fabio, the receptionist was really helpful and kind.

Review 87:wifi was not working 100% and was very slow

The Fine Print

The hotel is on the 2nd floor of a historic building, accessed via stairs or a small elevator.
