Reviews for Hotel The Century

Review 1:Entrance of the hotel is in the hallway of the restaurant. Small but it works.

Review 2:Stayed in single room.Comfy bed, decent size room, and nice modern bathroom! Parking for free in box close to hotel. Mail them for details!

Review 3:2.50 added to bill for no apparent reason and without explanation.

Review 4:Breakfast simple but fine, hot water working fine, WiFi working fine although adult sites are filtered.

Review 5:There is no lift to reach the upper floors. No chance to get an invoice issued to the company as asked for in the reservation process via booking.com.

Review 6:Very friendly and helpful staff, nice restaurant as being part of the hotel with heated outside area for smokers. The hotel location is in the heart of the city directly at the beginning of a pedestrian shopping section.

Review 7:With only the location as a + for my stay there it's not recommended!!!!! Cold water in the shower ( = normal because they were cleaning the kitchen !! ) Rude staff on arrival, not received breakfast that was included in my stay, actually had to pay my morning coffee !!!!!! Rude, obnoxious and incompetent staff !!!!!!!!

Review 8:The location at the corner of the shopping street is nice.

Review 9:Breakfast have less options,no lift in the hotel and you have two climb by stairs two three floor to reach to the room..

Review 10:Staff is very good and very friendly , room is clean and ok, food is very good....On the shopping street...best restaurant in all nearby...

Review 11:Parking is tricky and expensive if you can't find a free space under the flyover opposite. The nearby multi-storey public car park is ridiculously dangerous to negotiate, with very tight turns and lots of concrete hazards to avoid, quite the worst I've ever come across. And they charge you heftily for the privilege. This is NOT the hotel's fault of course, but may be useful to know in advance.

Review 12:Great location at the end of the main shopping street, helpful friendly staff, great restaurant, modern clean rooms, good wi-fi.

Review 13:The single room is a little small - but is adequate for a single night stay - any longer recommend taking a double room

Review 14:Location is great and the hotel is clean.

Review 15:Staff could have been more attentive. Waited around ten mins to sign out.

Review 16:Room was nice and clean. Comfy bed. Breakfast was very nice. Good location close to train station and the main shops.

Review 17:Nothing was bad

Review 18:Position (at bottom of 'high street'), clean wooden floor of bedroom, 'Mentos' and peanuts supplied every day (!), efficient staff

Review 19:No lift. Rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and the stair is steep and tight. Awkward if with a suitcase. Also, access to shower also very tight - a bigger person could not have got in.

Review 20:It looks good as you approach it, it is teeming with activity, mostly locals in for coffee, lunch or a drink. Everything modern and clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Authentic Belgian hotel.

Review 21:Nothing, really. Hotel must have the smallest reception area in the world (just a closet with a laptop). Go straight to the restaurant and ask somebody to help you. No elevator (only relevant if you have some kind of problem with the legs).

Review 22:Location close to the station (leave the station to the right and continue till you reach the hotel). Rooms are smallish but confortable and also very practical. Breakfast is served at the table and is not buffet-style (which I find a relief, it's also excellent).

Review 23:stairs are quite steep-no lift available not ideal if anyone has mobility problems

Review 24:location excellent-food a little pricey but very good quality and in the middle of town so plenty of other options available if you don't want to dine there.

Review 25:The matress in the single person room is too soft, you can feel all the springs and deformation in it. I'm not really picky so I slept well anyway. To get hot water in the shower you have to wait 5-10 min. One morning I had only burning hot tap water in the bathroom sink. There's no do not disturb card, so if you have the intention of sleeping later than 10am, let someone know or put a sign yourself. I have been awaken by the cleaning guy 4 times between 9h and 11h the first night I arrived. Almost all TV channels had snow in them, but since I never really watch TV that didn't matter much to me. There's no elevator and the stairs are somewhat small for a tall person that has to carry his luggage up (2 or 3 floors up). The windows could be more isolated as I was hearing noise from the street below, but I could sleep well anyway. In the end, it's just a 2 stars hotel so you get what you pay for.

Review 26:Close to downtown/shopping streets, close to the train/bus station (10 min walk). The rooms are nice looking with modern furniture, although cheap. Not so expensive per night. Typical european breakfast is included from 7 to 10am in the restaurant downstairs. You can do late check-in if you call them and let them know and check-out the night before. The staff were all friendly and helpful, but keep in mind that there's no front desk, you have to go in the restaurant to ask something.

Review 27:Would have liked more of a selection or breakfast, not just 4 cold rolls, with ham and cheese. Croissants would be nice. If you are of restricted mobility, then the 49 stairs to the top floor may be a bit of a hindrance, as there is no lift. My room (12), had no cold water on the wash basin.

Review 28:Very good restaurant for dinner. Bed very comfortable. Good location for the town centre and shops, and in my case, for the beer festival at the Culture Centre. Station is a 10 minute walk.

Review 29:Noisy aircon. Breakfast a bit too basic, just a couple of rolls with cold meat & cheese. Having to use the card key to enter the hotel late at night, which didn't work.

Review 30:Central location, car park nearby. Nice bathroom. Excellent bar/restaurant. Free wi-fi.

Review 31:Stairs were steep, but this is standard for this part of the world. Not a problem for me, but maybe others. Bit noisy outside.

Review 32:Rught place in town centre Good cafe/bar underneath. Restaurant available. Gabled room.

Review 33:We arrived and nobody was there, we called and nobody speak english. After to call to booking come somebody whith the keys. The Staff speak only France.

Review 34:Bed was to soft

Review 35:Location, nice terras

Review 36:Poor breakfast

Review 37:Clean rooms, good location. The restaurant.

Review 38:Shower runs hot and cold to keep you on your toes

Review 39:Fantastic location, modern rooms, friendly staff, amazing food downstairs

Review 40:Breakfast so-so

Review 41:Location, restaurant, room

Review 42:Beds are a bit narrow.

Review 43:Clean, modern room

Review 44:Lack of lift - but I was forewarned. Unfortunately I was carrying a heavy suitcase

Review 45:Excellent food

Review 46:Not a remote control in the room; I had to ask (twice) for it..

Review 47:Large, nice & clean room.

Review 48:A bit noisy at night

Review 49:great location Hard working friendly staff Good restaurant

Review 50:Position, nice bar, nice bathroom

Review 51:No actual reception, have to wait for one of bar staff to come out. No elevator.

Review 52:The hotel was nicely located for centre. Room was fine for me.

Review 53:Breakfast could have been a bit better

Review 54:There was no Wi-fi in the hotel. I was in room number 14 and there was no hot water in the bathroom.

Review 55:The hotel staff was wonderful. They always helped and they were very kind.

Review 56:No comments, only good ones!

Review 57:The staff was really nice and friendly, the location was ideal, breakfast was nice... We could not have had a better hotel, we were all very happy to stay here!!! We'll try to come back ;)

Review 58:It's not a 'real' hotel, rather a large restaurant with a few rooms. There is no reception and you are checked in and out by the restaurant waiting staff, who are sometimes busy and have no time for you. They are also not very familiar with the booking system. We actually had to prove the price with our booking.com confirmation, otherwise we were told to pay much more! There also offer no tourist advice. Breakfast was extremely basic. The room wifi was very unstable and we could not connect half of the time. Not great value for money overall.

Review 59:Comfortable room, nice bathroom, good central location.

Review 60:I had no Wi-Fi in my room and while taking shower in the evening, I began under hot water and ended up with a cold shower. There's no elevator, inconvenient with heavy suitcases on the slim staircase

Review 61:Perfect location, nice atmosphere, very clean, nice (simple) breakfast.

Review 62:Wi-Fi signal was weak, at least in my room. Quite a few little stairs to climb. Would be great to have tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Review 63:Excellent location, a short walk from the train station and Grote Markt. Easy to explore the city on foot. Room was clean and modern, had a great night's sleep. Continental breakfast simple but nice, served in the restaurant. Staff were helpful, overall it was good value.

Review 64:Only very minor downside that there is no elevator and the breakfast is just a bit too simple.

Review 65:Everything, great location, airco, reasonable fast internet, good food.

Review 66:The breakfast arrangement for guests needed better explaining, We had to pay extra for alternative items offered to us by the staff. No problem but it did create a little confusion.

Review 67:A very nice hotel/restaurant with modern decor. Very enjoyable

Review 68:Stairs are under construction... Don't look nice. Reception is'minimum'.

Review 69:Perfect location for shopping and visiting the city. 10 minutes walkfrom Japanese Garden. Good restaurant with perfect service. Room was ok.Modern bathroom. Airco.

Review 70:Shower: Hot and Cold...No good temperature The door to the shower also did not close.

Review 71:The beds were extremely comfortable The staff was excellent to speak with. Especially in English. Very helpful for whatever I needed

Review 72:No in-room tea/coffee facilities and bar prices not cheap. (1L bottle of water 9.20!) Some staff members could learn from others and be more friendly. Breakfast options were a little lacking.

Review 73:Restaurant nice, fair food prices, good prompt service, some staff friendly and attentive. Rooms modern and adequate for price. Bathroom decent size, Hotel in great location and top floor rooms were quiet. Because there aren't many rooms, there's minimal disturbance.

Review 74:Very steep steps and no elevator, but we managed. With hotel internet itis not possible to send emails from computer (only from online regime)

Review 75:Restaurant downstairs in the evening quite good and handy, peopleare very nice

Review 76:No tea/coffee making facilities in room and I couldn't get the free wi-fi to work.

Review 77:Only a 5 minute walk from railway station and a 2 minute walk to the main square in Hasselt. Modern en-suite room had flat screen TV and was clean. Key-card access was convenient and hotel can be entered through a side entrance instead of walking through main bar/restaurant.

Review 78:If I have to say something, then it would be the absence of an elevator. This wasn't much of a problem for us, but for older people it isdufiicult to climb the narrow stairs with your luggage

Review 79:It is a perfect hotel with very friendly staff who is always atyour service

Review 80:Some people have complained about the lack of a lift and the steep stairs to the bedrooms which are on the top two floors of the four in this old (but well modernised) building. The stairs could be difficult for people with restricted mobility and some of our group struggled with them. The heated towel rail in one shower room refused to produce any heat, whilst the warm air heating/air-conditioning in the bedrooms was rather noisy and a challenge to operate with no instructions provided. The cleaners really did not have to take away the partly used soap every day!

Review 81:The hotel is well located, close to the shops, restaurants and attractions of the compact centre of Hasselt. A bus stop is within a few yards (Leopoldplein) giving access to the excellent free city bus network, and cheap buses to other places - some directly and the rest via the interchanges at the Station and Dusartplein. The railway station is 2 minutes by bus or 8 minutes on foot. The rooms are a good size, well-appointed and comfortable. The restaurant provided a very reasonable breakfast including cereal, yoghourt, fruit, cold meats and the usual spreads, served 7am to 10am. Other meals were not the cheapest in Hasselt and we only ate there once but nevertheless we could not fault the quality, service and choice. Wifi worked faultlessly in the bedroom throughout our stay.

Review 82:The staff here is incredibly nice and they always play great music in the cafe. Free wireless provided in the rooms and breakfast every morning with smiling service. You can't be it. Rooms are trendy and modern and they provide fresh towels etc every day + air conditioning in the rooms. Seriously this place is great and I'm staying here from now on when I come to Hasselt.

Review 83:Right in the middle of the city. Was very conveniently located for anevent at the Cultuurcentrum Hasselt that I needed to be at. Free parkingnearby if you're lucky enough to get a spot, otherwise the hotel alsoprovides garage boxes. Room was spotlessly clean and well designed, bedwas so comfortable I fell asleep before I could even finish the movie Iwas watching. :) All in all and amazing value, would definitely comeback if I need to be in Hasselt again!

Review 84:I'm traveling for more then 20 years now, this was the first place where they carried my luggage to the room.

Review 85:- Limited choice for breakfast - In de evenings I had no warm water.

Review 86:- Nice food in the restaurant below the hotel.

Review 87:Beware of the metal handrail in the shower - it has dangerously sharp edges.

Review 88:Can't think of anything.

Review 89:Flexibility and pleasant people. Nice rooms.

Review 90:Cleaning staff were trying to get me to leave the room before check-out time on my morning of departure.

Review 91:Location of the hotel.

Review 92:Centrally located with excellent standard of accommodation.

Review 93:very small room no international TV

Review 94:good restaurant

Review 95:the hallway was a bit dirty, but not serious issue

Review 96:friendly personal, good location, comfy room, great breakfast

Review 97:Stairs!

Review 98:Central location

Review 101:The six flights of stairs and no lift to me bedroom number 16

Review 102:The public food and bar area

Review 103:My room has no window!

Review 104:Lack of elevator

Review 105:Perfect hotel. Location in the center of the city. good sea food. Hotel stuff is best from the best.

Review 106:breakfast was very modest

Review 107:Freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast

Review 108:Nice hotel, good service, familiar staff and good lication. The price for accomodation is very good as well. I can reccomend.
