Reviews for Hotel Cala del Porto - Relais & Châteaux
Review 1:In the room we did not have a boiler,,for making a tea or whatever! Breakfast no nuts or almonds...and almost no whole brain...
Review 2:The location is incredible!!
Review 3:to avoid if you are not old and Italian. Everything was great until the last moment (lunch at the beach). After spending 907 EUR for one night and dinner we wanted to have lunch at the private beach (5min away drive from the hotel). When we arrived (my daughter, wife and I) we asked a table for 3. We were told that all was reserved. It was obviously far from true since all tables were free. We asked to wait at the bar having drinks while waiting. We waited 2h. A dozen of table were given to people who had not reserved. Finally we left without eating. Scandalous. Maybe we didn't look old or Italian, or rich enough, after dropping 907 EUR for a night.
Review 4:The location, the pool, Some of the staff.
Review 5:We were asked to love The port which the hotel over looks. However at the end of September it was totally deserted. Even the shops in town were only open at weekends. Typically Relais and Chateau charge for everything...the lounger on the beach even though we were taking lunch. A pot of tea for two cost us 43 euros although it was delivered with a plate of fruit. Only the English would want a pot of tea at 4 o'clock!
Review 6:The location food and decor were good.
Review 7:The key staff in the hotel were cold not very warm and this meant we felt invisible most of the time. The staff in the restaurant didn't make us feel welcome - the first morning we were not welcomed into breakfast or told what the process was or what was available to us - the availability of hot food seemed to be if you asked they may have it available - there was no one to explain what was available - we had to ask and even then nothing was really in place or no one had been trained to walk us through. We did ask for poached eggs on the first morning - but these arrived cold - poached eggs cold in a 5 star hotel!??We had to ask for refills of drinks on our first night, after waiting to see if staff had noticed - this was far from 5 star service - and it was to the restaurants benefit to take new orders for alcohol!Similarly at breakfast again we had to ask for hot drinks 99% of the time - no one was watching or seemed to bother The perception was that there was no real organisation - we were often asked several times once we were asked if we wanted drinks or food - no communication among the restaurant team. There were clearly training issues as junior staff members often chatted loudly across the restaurant at breakfast, while customers were still eating - and this is again far from 5 star service/quality.No one seemed to have time for usEG no one explained the menu to us on the first night! We only ate in the restaurant the one night after this!!We went to the aperitif evening put on by the hotel and were seated - which was strange. There were no drinks ready to be served - which is what you would expect - but we then had to wait quite a while sat down at a table before we had a drink. Hence no one mixed or really wanted to hang around - which could easily have been another opportunity to get people to stay and eat - again another revenue opportunity missed from a commercial point of view.
Review 8:The views from the hotel were excellent and the hotel rooms were cleaned well and the towels and sheets changed regularly - very good service. The poolside beds were comfortable and adequate The breakfast selection was very good and the pastries were good. The coffees and teas were good and there was a good selection.
Review 9:Waiting staff could perhaps have been a little more polished Having to pay to use the private beach.
Review 10:Very well appointed Scrupulously clean Beautiful views Warm welcome
Review 11:The location and the food is excellent!
Review 12:poor quality breakfast, not worthy for a 5 stars relais & chateau hotel
Review 13:the best harbor view in Punta Ala
Review 14:location is a toerist village.
Review 15:Restaurant quality perfect but price is high as well.
Review 16:The beach is 10-15 minutes by car. But the pool is very nice
Review 17:Nice hotel, clean comfortable rooms. Friendly stuff.
Review 18:Some staff seem a little disinterested Lack of snacks or water without contacting room service Better pool service
Review 19:Location , weather , ambiance
Review 20:The availability of access to other area of the complex,
Review 21:Service at dinner was a bit hectic.
Review 22:Beautiful location overlooking the port. We had a great room - suite.
Review 23:Web marketing makes it appear that the beach and gym are at the location of the hotel when in fact there're a few kilometres apart.
Review 24:Peacefulness
Review 25:Amazing location
Review 26:The service in the private beach should be dramatically improved
Review 27:The beach should be included in the price of the hotel room.
Review 28:Great location!
Review 29:I can't fault anything although we were there when it was very quiet.
Review 30:Our room was lovely, the staff couldn't be faulted and the food was very good though quite expensive.
Review 31:You have to pay for a beach bed as a hotel guest as well. This should have been included. Overall had the feeling that the focus was on increasing the bill. With a room price around EUR 300 per night you expect to have beach beds and coffee during breakfast included. We would have rather paid a little more for the room and have these things included than having to sign off receipts all day for everything you use.
Review 32:We stayed at this beautiful hotel for two days during our honeymoon with our 15 months old son. The location itself, the reception, the restaurant, the garden and the pool area are tasteful, modern and well maintained with the luxury feeling that you expect from a Relais & Chateaux residence. The hotel is located at approximately 300 metres from the marina with some simple bars and pizza joints. Unless you come by boat, there is not much to do at the marina. The staff was very friendly, well mannered and without exeption paid a lot of attention to our little son. The downside was that there was only one baby chair available in the restaurant and therefore we had to take our son on our lap during breakfast. Although a hotel like this might not be the most obvious choice with a baby, the hotel should have been prepared for this. Good thing is that they came to us to tell us that there would be a second baby chair the day after so they acted immediately on this wihtout us making a comment on it first. Our room was very comfortable and clean, small but not too small, and with a nice terrace overlooking the pool area and the sea.The hotel has a private parking, located approximately 200 metres from the hotel across the street. Outside parking with very spacious parking spaces with shades. A key for the parking is available at the reception and can be kept during your stay.Breakfast is really good with a large selection of bread, pastries, fresh fruit and cereals. In addition thereto you can order various on demand dishes.Wifi is available at the reception but not in the room. There is (complimentary) internet via cable in the room but this does not work with tablet and / or smart phone. The hotel has a private beach area / club, about five minutes away with luxury car shuttle (complimentary) on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Punta Ala area. It is also possible to take your own car.
Review 33:Did expect more from the breakfast, based review. Guess it depends on past experiences and expected standards. Note visit in early May at their start of of the session.
Review 34:Liked the room, general the facilities was good, great staff, good food
Review 35:1. They have 2 mattresses for king size beds. Weird and not so comfortable
Review 36:1. Breakfast !!! Simply amazing 2. The views are fantastic 3. Great rooms, great bathroom
Review 37:No elevator. The difficulty of access to the restaurant, and swimming pool if you have a disability or a child in a baby carriage.
Review 38:Calm, beauty place! Nice people. Good service!
Review 39:limited hot food options to order at at breakfast time. Always look forward to Eggs Benedict when staying at a luxury hotel, but here only eggs three ways and / or with bacon.
Review 40:Lovely hotel , great staff and wonderful food in the restaurant
Review 41:The hotels' beach is 5 min drive away!!!!! So this is not a hotel onthe sea. This is a hotel in a port. If you don't come with a yachtthe hotel doesn't bring any value for your money. By the way, theprice for the hotels' beach is 55 euro a day !!!! Punta ala is justthe port, no attractions in the area: several restorants, several shopsand that's it. A developed tourists village is located in 23 km. Inthe day of check out I couldn't find two polo shirts that Ipreviously have put on a chair in my room. Finally they found it andtold me that the house-keeping girl put it by a mistake with the dirtylinen. A very strange case.
Review 42:The sea. Shallow, warm, clean, bringing relaxation. Theconiferous forest.
Review 43:Restaurant with very good food and service, but a little overpriced for the common dishes, like pasta.
Review 44:Fantastic view over the yacht harbour in Punta Ala and the sea. Luxury rooms. Perfect cleaning of rooms. Easy and frequent transfer to the beach. And more ....
Review 45:Tap and sink do not fit ergonomically, so water was splattering all over the bathroom...
Review 46:Beautifull green environment with a long nice sandy coastline - good for walking & running. Wonderfull view from the hotel to the marina. Staff very helpfull (made good impression by serving us breakfast on first day far beyond breakfast time).
Review 47:the pool was not heated and very cold when we were there. 2 hour drive from pisa.you need a car when there as restaurants and beach at a distance from hotel other than limited restaurants at nearby marina.
Review 48:small bijou hotel , very comfortable , clean friendly and helpful staff, good food but on the expensive side. well furnished rooms. the private beach was bautiful and well kept. lunch menu a bit restricted as little or no meat alternative. good for a weeks rest and relaxation. would recommend hotel. please give staff our best regards and thanks for a pleasant stay. definately 5*
Review 49:Breakfast was not as good as it could have been. High cost of wines in restaurant.
Review 50:Excellent location. Attentive and helpful staff. Relaxed, calming, environment (May 12th).
Review 51:Whilst apreciating that this is a 5 star hotel, food and wine were veryexpensive. Waiters at dinner were over attentive and it seemed thatevery 30 seconds one or other of them was asking "Is everything ok". Wewere not left alone to enjoy our meal and evening. We ate in the hotelon our first evening, but then chose to eat at all three of the mainrestaurants down in the port. Food at these restaurants was almost ofthe same quality as the hotel, but almost half the price!
Review 52:Staff were very friendly. Rooms were very nicely decorated and clean.Pool area was beautiful with a fantastic view of the marina.
Review 53:Restaurant meals ranged from excellent to quite poor. The flagship steak dish was quite poor in that it was not as per menu, cooked quite poorly and was tough
Review 54:Location excellent and if you are just looking to relax then this is the place for you. Hotel staff were very helpful
Review 55:The Hotel changed my nightly rate upon arrival even though I had confirmed the booking through booking.com. This has never happened to me in the past and I have been traveling regularly for the past 20 years. I don't know if this is peculiarity of booking.com and if so, a deterrent to use in the future.
Review 56:Terrific view of the sea. Restaurants within walking distance.
Review 57:The information about the hotel was misleading - it was not highlighted that the beach is 3km from the hotel. At €420 / night we expected a far better standard hotel. We were due to stay 3 nights, but only stay one night.
Review 58:Pretty location above harbour
Review 59:Beautiful view of the water, friently staff, rooms were spacious, attractive. The attention to detail was excellent, rooms were decorated with a plate of strawberries and roses. Roses were on all the tables. We were greeted with a glass of Proseco upon arriving. Would have stayed longer if we could.
Review 60:leaking shower screen and the smell of sewage on the balcony
Review 61:almost everything but
Review 62:Perfect Service !
Review 63:The Location was perfect.
