Reviews for Hotel American Palace Eur

Review 1:Only one thing. The breakfast is served from 6:30. There was a lot of everything: youghurts, muesli, cakes, croissants, cheese, fruits, fruit salade etc. But there was no hot dishes. At 7 am when we left the trays were still empty.

Review 2:It's really a good place to stay for travellers with a car. We spent here our last night in rome. We had an early flight. We had to leave the hotel at 7 am. We liked: 1. The breakfast is served from 6:30. It was important for us. The breakfast was really good. 2. The airport is only 25 mins drive from the hotel. 3. The airport in near the metro. About 10 mins walking. So we had an opportunity to go to the center in the evening. 4. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had a triple room. There were 2 rooms inside. In one of them there was a king size bed and in the other one-a bunk bed. We were with 2 kids. So it was a great room for us) 5. There is a lot of free parking spaces around the hotel.

Review 3:- The interior of the rooms is pretty old, needs renovation. - On our arrival we were given a tiny room, with a full size bed, although we booked a bigger one with 2 twin size beds. The explanation given at the reception was that they didn't have other rooms available!! Does it have to be our problem, if we booked the room for 10 nights 3 months prior to arrival? I doubt so. Next day after we asked again, we got a medium size room, but still with 1 full bed. - Wifi had a very low signal in our room and was very slow (suitable only to check e-mail) - TV was tiny, in a very uncomfortable place on the wall, so that we bumped into it with head/shoulders like 100 times, when passing by. For international channels: BBC, CNN, some Russian propaganda channel. I would request the hotel to add "Ukraine Today" channel to the list, since many Ukrainians visit Rome, I believe it would be much appreciated! - Our room had a window/balcony facing a busy (via Laurentina) street, so the noise level was pretty high, even during the night (especially taking into account the fact that police/ambulance/fire trucks use their sirens very often).

Review 4:- 5 min walk to metro station Laurentina (about 20-30 min to get to main tourist attractions, like Colosseum) - Buffet style breakfast was included in the room price - enough food to get full (apples and oranges, yogurt, oatmeal, omelette, sandwiches, etc.), the only drawback - it is exactly the same every day, no diversity. - Our medium size room had a fridge and a TV, also a balcony. - Very good and not expensive pizza place (to go or eat in) in the next street - "Gege" Via dell'Aeronautica, 125 - Carrefour supermarket for groceries (cheese, fruits, etc) - 5 min walk - Beautiful park of Eucalyptus trees 15-20 min walk from the hotel

Review 5:Hotel right next to metro station, about 20minutes metro ride to the main station in Rome. Metro cost 1,50Euro for 100 minutes drive. Hotel provides a good buffet breakfast plus a buffet lunch for 9 Euro including drink which i think is a great value and good idea.

Review 6:Horrible hotel. we reserved triple room, but the picture on the booking.com web site and the real are not same. the real size of the room is double room(small room) and just added one more bed. there are no space even sit down. hotel staff told me they also don't know why the suite room picture uploaded on the web site. just should discuss with our agency booking.com. is it the customer mistake? if i knew the room size I didn't choose this farthermost hotel from the city. the employee is really unkind to customer. and we spoiled our roma trip because this horrible hotel.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:The wifi is much better than experienced anywhere else in Italy, but still not perfect :)

Review 9:Just a few stops with metro to the Colosseum, great location :)

Review 10:Compared to all the 4 star hotels I've been to this is the only one I can assure everyone is not really a 4 star hotel in terms of facilities, staff, services offered and the room itself. Hotel was not able to provide us with a dental kit, toothbrush/toothpaste (all other 4 star hotels I've been to provides this), ironing board and iron.

Review 11:Perfect price for a low budget trip Clean

Review 12:At my stay time some problem of power on 1st day, but may be that problem is not permanent.

Review 13:Staff is very good, breakfast is very good, location is also very good, very near to Metro station Laurentina. All bathroom accessories also good.

Review 14:Hotel is far from the center, so youve to use really dirty and dangerous (thiefs) metro.

Review 15:Hotel is not in the center, its quite place, market and metro are near. Staff is great.

Review 16:Breakfast - the worst I have ever seen. No vegetables, meat -only two types, cheese - only one type ... when you add three-five types of cakes - that is the whole breakfast. What is more, breakfast should be ready at 6:30, but it was not - at 6:45 there were still no warm dishes (rise, scrambled eggs and bean - this is all what this hotel offers) !!! Moreover do not drink orange or grapefruit juice from the machine - there is more water than juice. In conclusion - disaster and not the level that one should expect. It reminded more third world 4* hotel than the European one. Room - I had a single room with a double bed. The room is so small, that if you want to get to a balcony, you must jump over this bed or you have to rearrange the furnitures in the room (move the chair). The room was to have 20 sq. metres, but it did not. The bed took half of the room and there are also two night tables, a desk and a chair - that is all. Wardrobe, without shelves, so there is no place to put shirts !!! The desk personnel was also not very helpful - especially when it came to a one day extension of stay. My colleagues, unfortunately, had to change the hotel for one night.

Review 17:Not too much to say in at this point. Maybe a location is an advantage, because it is 5-minutes walking distance from Metro Laurentina. From this station it is very easy and convinient to go to Colloseum, St. Paolo or Termini and from Termini - to Fumicino Airport or anywhere you wish.

Review 18:The restaurant service (including staff) was poor, in particular morning coffee and juices and fish diner menu. Too noisy, in particular I was woken up by load noises at 5 in the morning.

Review 19:Staff at reception was friendly and helpful.

Review 20:There was not possible to heat in the room The food in restaurant is lower average only - served frozen desserts etc..

Review 21:Very friendly staff Nice place Very close to the underground station

Review 22:The Internet was poor, the food was not up to Italian standard, the maid service to the room was poor while the front desk was good

Review 23:The location is fine but the rest was average

Review 24:The hotel was situated next to a very busy road which was very annoying during nights. Our room was probably the smallest hotel room which I have ever seen before. The hotel was rather shabby.

Review 25:The hotel´s staff was nice. The hotel was located close to a metro station.

Review 26:Shower over bath not good at all. Room very basic.

Review 27:The hotel is close to a train station and bus stops but is a long way from Central Rome. Staff friendly and helpful

Review 28:Very old property deserving renovation many years ago. Very small room, fully filled with bed, almost no space left around. Ancient air-conditioning operating limited time only 11:00-15:00, 19:00-23:00, that is when the tourist is not in the room, too warm during night. Although relatively clean, still feels dirty because of stains, limescale,... Very basic, definitely not 4 star, not pleasant to stay.

Review 29:Near to underground station, about 200m. Near to supermarket, about 150m. Relatively cheap (on Booking 80% discount).

Review 30:The room and the entire floor were noisy. They also charge 6 EUR as "city fee" but they don't give you an invoice... hmmm fishy. You can't charge your phone or laptop in your room as there is only one electric outlet :(

Review 31:The price and proximity to the train station.

Review 32:Nice breakfast, but could be improved. Very high local tax 6 euro per day per person. No swimmingpool.

Review 33:Very good location close by metro Station, free parking on nearest street.

Review 34:the bathroomwas a little bit short, so if you're above 185cm (6'2) you're going to have a bad time showering because the head reaches the ceiling

Review 35:The staff was really great and helpful, the breakfast was very good andrich and even though the hotel was a little bit far from the city atractions it was really close to the meteo station

Review 36:By far, this is the worse hotel I stayed at in europe. My room was on the 6th floor but very uncomfortable. I'm a short person (5.2) and I kept on hitting my head as I walked around because the roof was extremely low. The air condition did not cool the room at all. I could not sleep due of the heat. The room laid out itself was ugly with an uncomfortable bathroom across a hallway in the same small room. If your are going to stay at this place, have them show you the room first. Chances are that you will be better off sleeping in your car or even the train station.

Review 37:Breakfast was fine.

Review 38:Intermittent internet connection. They serve the same breakfast food everyday. The metro station close to the hotel is the last station of the Blue Line, which is Laurentina (8-9 stations away from Colosseo Station). A bit far from the city center, around 20 minute metro ride.

Review 39:Pretty near the metro station and Carrefour supermarket.

Review 40:- small room but also have balcony - the windows of the room vibrated when the cars are passing and rooms are not well soundproofed

Review 41:1. free parking on nearby streets and friendly staff speaking english. 2. free wifi and the room was cleaned every day. 3. very very good breakfast 4. subway station is 3 minute walking (10 minute ride to Colloseum)

Review 42:Kind day staff

Review 43:- horrible hotel - booked a triple room: they just got us a 3rd bed in a double room, so we really had no space inside the room - the minibar was empty - dirty bathroom - dirty sheets - dirty beds - the staff was awful at night.

Review 44:The windows were badly soundproof and the resturant below the rooms in the yard was very noisy. Although the hotel is very close to mtro station, it was quite far from the city center and touristic sites.

Review 45:The breakfast was very good. The room and wc were clean. The staffs were kind and freandly.

Review 46:I am not sure what I didn't like about this hotel! We just needed a place to sleep.

Review 47:I loved the location. Away from the center but a few minutes away from the Laurentina subway station. Large rooms & offers a great buffet breakfast.

Review 48:The A/C was not cool enough so the room was warm.

Review 49:This hotel is located near the subway and bus station making it easy to get into Rome and see all the sights.

Review 50:Under a hot temperature of 37C-40C, the air-condition is not efficiency and it did not cool the room at all. The free wifi is good in certain open area only. The room and breakfast area connection is very weak.

Review 51:The hotel is clean and location was close to supermarket, subway and some small eateries.

Review 52:Very old property. No wifi available in the room. Cramped room

Review 53:Location was very good. Close to metro and a supermarket close by. Restaurant was good, good food and helpful staff.

Review 54:The reception told me when I called that breakfast is served until 10:30, so when I arrived at 10:05, the waiters were collecting everything, even when they saw I was there. They even gave me bad looks and continued to pick up the trays. I managed to eat a piece of bread and jam... no butter... nothing...

Review 55:The location is nice.

Review 56:There really wasn't anything we didn't like.

Review 57:The staff were happy and courteous. The room was clean and all guest toiletry facilities were supplied as per the advertisement.

Review 58:Blankets had hair all over them. Definitely unhygenic and not checkedregularly. Staff was very rude. Definitely not worth the money. Thishotel should not be a 4 star.

Review 59:Nothing was good. The photos are very deceiving and to some extent fake.We were not given the room shown in the pictures and when asked aboutit, the staff was arrogant and very rude.

Review 60:first 2 nights over booked, put into motel on outskirts of city, hotel A,P gives wrong location guide in fact at very end of metro line NOT 2 STOPS IN as guide says, wife saw rat walking out of restaurant and on terrace

Review 61:good helpfull staff, clean and tidy

Review 62:The hotel needs some renovations, quiet old but with that price i think it is still ok

Review 63:This is the second tiyinhave stayed at this hotel, there has been improvements about breakfast The location is good just 30 mins by metro. Unfortunately, there was no metro on the day i arrived so i realized that no direct bus to hotel from termini station, that would be a real problem if metro doesnt work, and last metro is 11:30 i coudnt stay late in the center

Review 64:We booked this hotel so that we could meet up with some relatives who were booked on a coach tour. It seems like this hotel just caters for coach tours it was hard work trying to get dinner when they are occupied for a fixed menu for the coach tours. We were told to wait in reception and they forgot about us! The breakfast was poor for choice and when we went down at 9.30 they had turned off the coffee and tea machine and we had to find someone to switch it back on!

Review 65:The hotel was situated by the main metro line which had easy access to the city centre in about 30 minutes. The bartender was helpful to us for drinks but only when the coach parties arrived other than that they seemed to close it.

Review 66:Everything is old and needs some modernisation and restructuring. Could be cleaner Both room and bathroom were very, very small The bed was very uncomfortable, the shower door ws broken, the bed cover and the curtains looked quite dirty

Review 67:- Location, if you are there for business and work at the EUR area - Staff: nice

Review 68:it was very bad service..the workers in the reception were unpolite( un-educated(italian girl who works in the reception doesnt now how to talk with clients,i had a problem with my card and she was screaming like stipid and nervous person) i did not like this people how they work in the reception without managing all situations breakfast was terrible, eggs were old,(((only bread was fresh

Review 69:the room was clean and nothing more!

Review 70:Dining was not a good experience. Not a lot of options nearby, sometimes the hotel was only option. Nice garden area where you can have a drink for some reason cannot dine there but have to go to dining room with absolutely no atmosphere

Review 71:Location near Metro

Review 72:The food at breakfast was ordinary. We dined at dinner on 3 occasions and the food was bland and uninspiring. Bus customers took precedence over individual dinners.

Review 73:The outside bar area and the helpful staff. A pity you were not allowed to dine out there!

Review 74:No plate and glases or cups in room. No iron. No pot. Blanket is very old. Breakfast ends 10 am but if you come 9 20am you might not find part of available food. That was disappointing.

Review 75:People are good. We like italians so we were comfortable to be there.

Review 76:Some of the staff in the reception do not respect the customers .. I booked through online and gave a 3 day notice to check out. The charge me extra 2 nights by saying: 1) Online booking charges one night. 2) No advance notice given charges one night too. (though I informed the receiption 3 days in advance, they still forced me to pay the short notice payment .. not fair) 3) No tea/coffee no water in the room ) Not paying attention to raised complain about the noise and disturbunce middle of night by school students in the other floors and our cooredoor.

Review 77:Good Breakfast with variety of selection

Review 78:City tax?!? Taxi or shuttle bus to/from airport quite expensive.

Review 79:Hotel is 3 min away from Metro stop Laurentina which can take you to any part of Rome for 1,5€.

Review 80:Bathroom very limiting, one night nouise from room above, soon sorted out by night staff.

Review 81:Located 300M from metro, taking about 15 mins to city centre. Pleasantly located away from the hustle and bustle. Good breakfasts, and cleanliness.

Review 82:If I really have to point something out I can mention small problems with wifi. However, it was only temporary.

Review 83:The hotel has a very good location, you will get to the center within 20 minutes. Our room was cosy and cleaned every day. The stuff was extremely helpful and friendly. Every day breakfast was more than decent. To sum up - paying so little for a room (comparing to hundreds of other hotels in Rome) you'll get an excellent service. Really superb place!

Review 84:AC was not working and it was incredibly worm in the room. Then i asked why AC not working got an answer that AC is only from 1 june. Newer heard something like that in 4 stars hotel. Could not open window because room was to busy street side. Room was very small and outdated. Bathroom and shower was small to, almost no place to turn around.

Review 85:Not far from metro and bus.

Review 86:The wi fi was pretty much none existent. There room was tiny and you could not see the tv screen when you were lying in the bed. The Walls are paper thin my girlfriend could hear the guy next door snoring. I asked for an iron and was told they didn't have any and for a price that they could do it for me. I rang and asked how to use the air conditioning because the room was way to warm and was told they didn't supply that at this time of year even though it was listed as one of the facalaties on my booking

Review 87:The breakfast was great. There was plenty of choice and lots of it. We had lunch there one day. It was all you can eat for 9 euros and it was worth it. Again the was plenty of choice and lots of it.

Review 88:The room was too small and not quiet. The toilet is popping out from 80's. There was breakfast included but low quality food.

Review 89:The bed was super comfortable but the room was small They have Sky cable tv and all languages channels but 5th floor wasn't quiet as expected.

Review 90:It's an "oldie" hotel. Things work, but you get the impression that insolation from exterior noise or from the upstairs rooms could be better. You could enjoy an extra 50 cm between the bed and the table.

Review 91:Nice staff, proper room. Medium quality breakfast buffet included.

Review 92:Room extremely small and cramped. Subway station close, which you will have to take to get to the Vatican and it's not a short trip.

Review 93:Dinner was excellent and the lobby area was comfortable to work in. Staff was very helpful

Review 94:Bathroom was clean however bathroom equipment needs renovation.

Review 95:Very good location - 5 minutes walk to metro, then 20 minutes to Rome centre. Very good breakfast included in price.

Review 98:I`ve been there second time, each time it is not possible to check- in even few minutes before check in time, even if we asked for it few days before- no answer. it is also noisy from the street.

Review 99:it is close to the underground so it made our staying there perfect to reach all places

Review 100:Poor wifi signel in side the room, limited choice in breakfast, Luggage porter was not helpful he just stand at the entrance.

Review 101:Staff were helpful with smiling face.

Review 102:Could not access wifi in hotel common areas, such as the restaurant. I like to read the news on my iPad while eating breakfast. This was not possible.

Review 103:Give them a raise!!

Review 104:Wifi code needs inserting every time you disconnect from router. Gym isn't 24 hours, nor big. 3 Bed room is too cosy. Food refills were not frequent.

Review 105:The breakfast had a large variety. The hotel overall was very clean. House keeping was great.

Review 106:not very big choise for breakfast, there were many kind of croissants and doughnuts, but not enough of other food, just omelette and salad. coffe from coffe-machine (i personally dont like, so maybe for you it won't be a problem ;) )

Review 107:nice clean place with great, helpfull staff. rather far from main tourist attractions, but it's not a problem for those who visits Rome not for the firs time. also there's metro station very close to the hotel. warm rooms, i've been ok in December in spite of i usually get freeze very much this period ;) there's a supermarket close to the hotel. good furniture and bath room.

Review 108:The older people in reception have no etiquettes while talking. They are not sensitive to your requirements and don't promote business to come to hotel. The management should instead think of putting positive minded youth at reception. The Room Heater was not working but nobody tried to help rectify problem.

Review 109:Good Wi fi connectivity. Proximity to Metro

Review 110:The breakfast should have more fruit and the bread wasn t good. The sound insulation from the street is bad, and there´s a lot.

Review 111:The staff is very nice, and the service is good value for the money.

Review 112:It is a little bit out of town, but since the metro station is round 300 meters away, you can be in Termini station for instance, in 30 min. There are also many busses in that station for different directions.

Review 113:We arrive nearly midnight from Fumiocino airport to the hotel- unwelcomed by reception staff on duty on the 8/11/14.Wifipassword was not even offered and reception staff on arrival unapproachable. Some staff during the daytime were okay, can speak english. Toilet bowl was rusted inside-thougt it was feces uncleaned at first.Hotel looks old and maintenance and cleanliness is satisfactory.Location of the hotel is far from the center although walking distance to Laurentina station.Foodchoices not much, plainlybread.

Review 114:The room was very noisy and cold. In addition to this the staff wasquite rude and moody. Finally something that really bothered me was thefact that I took from the hotel fridge a bottle of water (250 ml) with awritten price of 2.50 euros. When I checked out the room however theygave me a charge of 8 euros (!) claiming the city taxes. On top of that, when I asked why this was not written somewhere their respond was that"this is how things are in Rome"....

Review 115:The hotel is located very near the metro station with a good connectiontowards the airport. Breakfast was amazing!!

Review 116:We changed our schedule temporary and went to Roma one day earlier, so I booked this hotel for one night. Room is clean, but when we come back at 11pm, water for shower is not hot. When I asked the staff to offer a blanket on the bed( there's no blanket on the bed at all ), he said they don't offer blanket in Oct( its below 15C at night). That night, we have to wear our clothes while sleeping, terrible experience.

Review 117:nothing

Review 118:is a Quite place and clean the breakfast very good buffet and nearby the restaurant and train station and autobuss few 3 minutes walks.20 minutes to the attraction places by train.

Review 119:Compared to other 4 star hotels, this was disappointing. Very small rooms and the breakfast is poor and with no variation. No iron available.

Review 120:Close to Metro station

Review 121:at the end of our three-day stay in this hotel, I had the inconvenience, which is the reason for the poor reviews on all grounds. When I was booked a hotel, the hotel made the reservation for the amount of money. The reception staffs did not how to use reserved money and charge my bill. It was necessary to re-pay the same amount (and the previous amount is still reserved). Their explanation was that the reservation will expire in 20-25 days. I did not have so much money on my payment card, and reception staffs were totally uninterested to call own bank and demanded to pay extra. Same thing happened to friends who are traveling with us.

Review 122:Restaurant is noisy (many groups) and food is just ok. Almost no shops or restaurants in the surroundings.

Review 123:Staff very nice and warm. Instead of a single room (very small) I was given a nice double room. It was very confortable and quiet (on the back garden), with a balcony. Pleasant little garden with tables and chairs (but unfortunately no bar or restaurant service)

Review 124:There are no restaurants in the neighborhood. The bar/terrace is not well served since the waiters are to busy serving food in the restaurant. Poor WiFi service

Review 125:This is a decent hotel. The location is good, next to a metro station. It takes a 20 minute trip to go from the metro station to down town Rome. Breakfast is ok. I would go back to this place next time i visit Rome.

Review 126:The rooms on street side are pretty noisy due to the traffic. The gym is small, located at -1 floor without any windows and with the tapis roulant out of order. WiFi was free of charge but with a very limited bandwidth.

Review 127:The location is great because of the Metro station (100 meters) and a few km from the ring (GRA). Room are very clean, professional staff and breakfast is very satisfying. Garage available at additional cost (15.5 euros).

Review 128:Room was a tad small for a 4 night stay. Arrive early for breakfast as there will not be much of a choice after 9am Would have liked written information about hotel facilities provided in the rooms No tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms

Review 129:Very close to Metro providing links to Colosseum and Vatican. Friendly and helpful staff Clean rooms and house keeping services excellent Very good WiFi connection

Review 130:The biggest minor was that the room was not clean. Comparing to other**** hotels in Rome - this was a disaster of the quality. Overall - Iwas surprised that this hotel has **** rank. The hotel needsrestoration, proper pictures showing actual and available rooms.I.e. we booked 3 persons room, so basically two rooms with common bathroom. We got room with space taken by... space of elevator that was behind the wall, so basically 1/4 of main room was taken. The next day the hotel propose us to change the room but it was too complicated for us. The pictures linked to 3persons room are showing the suite not regular 3 persons room and - that's all what hotel manager told us. The breakfast... another story I want to forget. terrible coffee (cannot image that kind of coffee in Italy?!?!), limited amount of fruits (once taken and eaten - not refilled). After all - I would not choose this hotel again. The quality was similar to hostels in the centre of Rome not even close to **** hotels. And - remember that city tax for staying in **** is higher then in less star hotel (6 EUR to 3 EUR for ** hotel).

Review 131:The only thing I liked was distance to metro Laurentina station. They have free Wifi that worked but you need to take from reception login/password for each day. Internet was damn slow 40MB file has been downloading a half of hour. But just for emails - looks ok.

Review 132:The pictures make the rooms look bigger than it really is. No flowers on taple like shown in the picture. Gym was so small and badly taken care off. You have to search for it down in the basement. Wifi was terrible, not sutable for work.

Review 133:One girl was nice at the front desk. Breakfast was ok; a lot of sweet stuff but poor amount of things to put on bread. Next to the metro.

Review 134:No information available relating to any of the local amenities, bar didn't open at all during our stay. Put out some information for guests whom have never been to Rome before!!!!

Review 135:Extremely compact room, quite uncomfortable. Pictures on site give false impression of space. Old building, fittings. Staff rather indifferent. I wonder why it has four stars?

Review 136:Location very close to Metro, but it the last stop on line B, so too far from the centre already. Breakfast was standard/good. Clean.

Review 137:we went to this Hotel because they anounced free Wi-fi. When we asked the password they informed that it was "under maintenance" but in our room we had signal, they sistematicaly refused the Password, always arguing that it was the "internet provider" fault. we didn't expect plastic tableware in a 4 star Hotel.

Review 138:easy access to the Metro Line Laurentina Station.

Review 139:We only stayed one night but it was perfect. Convenient to drive to the airport without the traffic of the city. The staff at the hotel was very accommodating to any questions or requests. Would stay again.

Review 140:NO WI FI...you will connect to the hotel's wi fi but nothing works afterwards... so dont count on getting online...

Review 141:bed breakfast was great if you love carbs!!!

Review 142:Dark rooms, from the linens smelled some chemistry. Wi-fi is disgusting: 1) The username and password need to ask every day, because its work only 24 hours for only one device; 2) the quality of communication is terrible.

Review 143:Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, near metro.
