Reviews for YUP Hotel
Review 1:The staff is nice, but we decided to have breakfast there and ordered 3 coffees. We had to wait more than 15 minutes for one of them... They were really slow and forget it all the time, I don`t know what was wrong with them... It would be good if the bathroom was in a separate space.
Review 2:The location is really good, just a few minutes walking from the city center. The room is modern and you have everything you need. The bed is really good. If you travel alone or with someone you really know (the bathroom doesn't have doors/walls), it's a good hotel.
Review 3:breakfast and dinner is very simple, but then again prices are quite competitive
Review 4:great location: very close to the city center helpful staff (we were on a cycling tour and were allowed to place our bikes in the back of the lobby) rooms are not too big but it's very clean and practical
Review 5:One blanket and two electrical sockets were a bad surprise. Not enough space for a small suitcase (if you have two — leave one in the corridor), no door to the toilet (it's in 50 cm from your head, behind jalousie). No chairs. No light or a shelf in the bath cabin. Water was leaking from ceiling-shower (no chance to have your hair dry, no hair cap in the room) before your get a shower (some cold refreshment) and after you finished for 5 minutes (we thought we're going to sleep with this noise). And if you decide to stand up at night (or you're very active before sleeping) you may hit a lamp that hangs right in the middle of the bed. But these are minor things and we definitely enjoyed our staying there.
Review 6:Awesome design, comfortable bed with a huge blanket. Staff is really nice (it feels they enjoy their work). Room was like on photos. Great place for a date.
Review 7:A little bit noisy due to the main ring road. And there was a lot of dust everywhere. Cleanliness should be better.
Review 8:Location (10 minutes walk from train station and from the center). Friendly and helpful staff. Nice design. Comfortable bed. Awesome shower. So, my stay was really good.
Review 9:I definately do not like the service charge. I aslo think my room was a bit tight for both of us. But generally okay
Review 10:I love the lounge. The Staff had superb excellent customer service.
Review 11:The rooms where dirty. Dust everywhere. No privacy in the room. I was there for our work with a colleague. No separation between the room and bathroom.
Review 12:The bathroom and the the bedroom were actually the same room. It is ok for people who travel alone but not too romantic for couples! Also the music at the lobby was not good. Maybe something more relaxing would be more suitable.
Review 13:Good location, great staff, great atmosphere! One of the most interesting hotels we have ever stayed at!
Review 14:What I do not like is to have a price and than there are plus, plus, plus charges like city tourist tax, service charges and breakfast. And the description did not say that breakfast was not included! I want to have one price everything included!
Review 15:Friendly people at the reception desk
Review 16:Toilet in the rooms is a total desaster! 1) There is NO DOOR to the toilet! 2) between the toilet and the bed there is an open "window" only protected by some shades 3) the "black shiny design wall" acts like a mirror which means the one not in the toilet can always fully see the one on the toilet Result: There is NO privacy on the toilet. All sounds and smells are live transmitted to the bed. Clearly designed by someone who never thought that rooms cn be occipied by more than one person. In our group, even long relationships tended not to use the toilet on the room but all men used the toilet in the lobby. Imagine walking around drowsed at night to the lobby just to find there's no toilet paper there...
Review 17:The beds are VERY comnfy, very good matress. There's only one blanket but this proved to be OK since its very large.
Review 18:the proximity of the toilet to the head of the bed. You could also see the reflection in the marble wall. This made it very awkward as I was sharing the room with a friend. I can't imagine what it would have been like if I was with my girlfriend...
Review 19:Nice staff, clean rooms and nice decor.
Review 20:Hotel was very dark and the room was small - glad I was staying on my own as would have been a squeeze with two people. Was only in the hotel when I went to sleep, which suited me fine as I didn't want to hang out there.
Review 21:Good location, free wifi and was the cheapest option.
Review 22:Very dusty due to ongoing building works.
Review 23:The bedrooms are something else. Difficult to describe, the bed is enclosed on all sides except one, like sleeping in a box on its side, it was double size and comfortable enough though. The en-suite really was en-suite with no separation, ok if used as a single but offers no privacy whatsoever. The room is very dark with all furniture and décor in black and dim lighting. It served its purpose, just.
Review 24:Changed from Ibis to YUP after we booked. Large group travelling, originally had twin rooms not now changed to all double beds. And they've removed the door to the toilet, no privacy. Not good.
Review 25:Good location
Review 26:Room was very very small. Some furniture in room didn't need to be there with only small space available.
Review 27:Location to Hasselt was good and wi-fi worked well.
Review 28:Everything!
Review 29:Extremely dirty! Friendly guy at the check in, only wrong priorities, no hallo, no welcome & stayed 10min. on the phone while room key was waiting ready. Instead of simply greeting, asking name, handing over key & continue phone call afterwards! No breakfast! No door between bed & toilet! Extremely small due to box concept! Very bad! As interior designer I can tell you, 1/10! Carpets are zero all over the place! You can just walk on different floors while they are under construction. Safety zero. Parking behind 10€ a day?? Should be incl. Will I recommend this? Never! I sleep 220 nights a year in 4 & 5 star hotels! First time I tried something easy going because of the price. Never again. Please do something about the entire concept as it is really bad!
Review 30:The room was super small and the bathroom did not have a door.
Review 31:Cute little funky hotel, great location, nice dining area, good price
Review 32:everything was awesome...
Review 33:Sink not working. No light in the shower. Weird smell in the room.
Review 34:Breakfast is not worth it - price and breakfast doesn't suites.
Review 35:Good design and location.
Review 36:Not clean
Review 37:Design

Review 39:rather small room
Review 40:friendly staff and clean room ; not expensive
Review 41:Tiny bit expensive
Review 42:Unusual and fun hotel really cool rooms. Friendly staff. Awesome shower.
Review 43:It is horrible to have the toilet behind the bed in a double room.
Review 44:We liked the style.
Review 45:Location. It was quirky and unique, very compact rooms but everything there which is required for a couple of nights.
Review 46:Located in the center, well but Hasselt is not a big city anyway. Clean and quiet.
Review 47:Not all rooms have good cold pressure water tap, dark shower room
Review 48:In walking distance center of Hasselt, nice room, very clever design, niche design
Review 49:Bar open for 24h
Review 50:Space in the room; shower very dark
Review 51:Nothing in particular
Review 52:Style was super modern
Review 53:room very small and dark open toilet
Review 54:LOCATIN? RECEPTION IN THE AFTERNOON
Review 55:no door between bed and toilet
Review 56:just fine
Review 57:toillete is wissible in the mirror glass wall
Review 58:Nothing
Review 59:Everything
Review 60:The hotel is a building site,no parking, rooms are awful and it is completely inappropriate for anyone to stay apart from swingers
Review 61:Needs a bit of refubrishing, dirty walls, rooms too small. The wifi works rather badly in the rooms. The breakfast was fine, but for the price you could expect much more.
Review 62:The staff was pleasant, the hotel has potential. The rooms are clean! Nice location
Review 63:Internet is veeery slow. The plumbing of the neighbours is very noisy. The free parking is very small. If it;s full you can try to find a parking in the neighbourhood.
Review 64:Location is very good, close to the centre. Price is good too.
Review 65:They have only 6 parking spaces at the hotel. While they advertiseparking available, it hardly has parking considering the number of roomsserved and the small town location.
Review 66:Location was good and the cost was ok.
Review 67:Budget hotel issues: sound of snoring from adjacent room; intermittentwifi (slow even on provided pc); strange black marks around airextractor. Breakfast 14 Euros (or 9 for late diner option). Fine if youare Belgian/Dutch/German etc with an expectation of big buffetbreakfasts. Not fine if you are English and just want a quality coffeeand some toast!
Review 68:Price, location, helpful staff, free parking (got lucky-1 space at backof hotel free), price, free use of computer/internet. Do phone aheadfor parking advice-we didn't but should have....
Review 69:The hotel was a bit noisy. The walls are thin and you can hear yourneighbours. Also the plumbing is noisy. Through the night you canconstantly hear toilets being flushed. Unfortunately, I slept badlyas a result.
Review 70:The chocolate café Boon is exceptional. Also I would highly recommendthe Jenever Museum. From a shopping perspective La Bottega is amazing.
Review 71:A tired hotel in need of refurbishment. Small room. Not very friendly or welcoming reception. Breakfast expensive and uninspiring.
Review 72:The wifi connection was strong and fast.
Review 73:We were asked if we would like to settle the bill upon our checking-in.We were not sure this question was asked for everyone who checked inthis hotel I.e typical question for all Ibis hotels or it was a resultof prophiling customers of color. We've never been asked this in anyof the hotels we stayed during our many years of travelling. We foundthe question really odd, and to us implied simply that the staffinvolved doubted our capability to settle the bill on checking out. Wesettled the bill right then, and paid immediately in cash to whateverservice we requested to put his doubts to rest. This is among thingsthat altered our perception of the hotel and staff, to promise ourselvesnot to stay at Ibis in our future travels. We stayed in other hotelsprior to staying with Ibis Hasselt, the gap in quality of service andtrust to customer was immense. The other snag, was when the staff seemed defensive when asked why IPad could not connect to their WiFi but laptop would do. The staff was quick to point out that we should contact Apple so they can fix the "bug" with our iPad problem, not to realize that we had checked out in a hotel in Brussels no more than 5 hrs earlier and our iPad connected to WiFi perfectly. The same was with all the hotels we stayed in. After presenting them with this fact they acknowledged that other customers with iPad and similar gadgets were facing the same problem with connecting with their wifi. This defensiveness we think has to do with a Ibis note we found in the room, hopefully put in all rooms for new customers promising them to solve any problem or customer dissatisfaction within 15 minutes, if not, then it becomes their problem. Advice for the hotel, remove this note if you are not ready, and give sensible answers to customers questions.
Review 74:Close to Hasselt Centrum. Quick meal service, took less than 15 minutesto have the order prepared.
Review 75:The bathroom was old and mouldy. The bathroom hasn't been updatedprobably since the 80's, the grout in places had been painted over, butthat was off in most places, and the orange and black mould just carriedon growing. Shower taps were damaged, shower tray stained. Expected morefrom a multinational hotel chain!
Review 76:It's close to town, but so are the other hotels.
Review 77:A tad pricy but Belgium hotels tend to be a bit more expensive.
Review 78:Very convenient to Hasselt Centre and train station. Nice breakfast. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 79:Very few hotel for a lot of money. A bedroom size of maybe 10 m², bathroom included. Terrible location without nearby public parking (at least 10 minutes walk, not so convenient on rainy days)
Review 80:Friendly and customer oriented staff though
Review 81:The room smelled of old cigarette smoke and was dirty. It was also verysmall and no space for your suitcases
Review 82:The breakfast was fine. Sometimes the bacon and egg dishes were finishedbefore breakfast time was over.
Review 83:The hotel is in an excellent central location, within minutes of allshopping and local attractions. The ensuite rooms are of a reasonablesize and comfort and are clean and warm. Hotel staff are cheerful andfriendly. We would be very happy to stay here again.
