Reviews for Hotel Genio
Review 1:Some eggs on breakfast menu would be nice, buns and jam not to our Aussie tastes.
Review 2:Fascinating little hotel in a fascinating location tucked into the walls of the old town. Beautiful old tree and historical items, helpful family owners.
Review 3:A LOT of steps. The room was small, and very modestly furnished - spartan. Breakfast was minimalist, even by Italian standards.
Review 4:Location can't be beat, and we had a room overlooking the beautiful harbor.
Review 5:Maybe a little more variety for breakfast. Cereal? fruit?
Review 6:Friendly helpful staff. Excellent location. Good communication re booking. View over bay from room.
Review 7:The room we had was tiny. About 10 square meters for 2 persons. As the walls are very thin, it can be very noisy - depending on your neighbours. We got good exercise, as our room was about 50 stair steps upwards. There is no elevator...
Review 8:Great location, in the center of Portovenere.
Review 9:Before room 70 steps up the steep stairs. WiFi catches only near the reception and the quality is poor. Breakfast is very meager - buns, jams, yogurt and tea / coffee.
Review 10:The hotel's location is superb. Located in the center of town. The final stop of the bus and supermarket three minutes. Restaurants for every taste are just around the corner. The main attractions of the town a five minute walk. In a room with a view of the sea is really chic look. Cleaned every day.
Review 11:Small ensuite bathrrom with toilet placed inside shower cubicle. Stairs. Could have done with clean drinking glasses. You need to close up windows etc due to noise in square below but no air con.
Review 12:Pretty boutique hotel with old world castle atmosphere and charm. Staff willing to carry large luggage up stairs. Yummy bruscetta with home made pesto! Definitely the sixth coastal town with lots charm and history.
Review 13:Matresses are too hard, but that seems to be the same all over Italy. I think I saw Ikea somewhere :)
Review 14:The hotel is situated in the centre of Portovenere. The stairs and the romantic balconies makes it a very special place! The family that runs the hotel are very friendly and helpful. Private garage is an extra plus.
Review 15:Wifi was dodgy at times, but that can be a good thing as well :). Breakfast like most italian hotels/b&bs was simple.
Review 16:Our 3 night stay at hotel genio was absolutely flawless. Igor and his parents were a delight and super helpful. Simple rooms and facilities at a great location.
Review 17:No internet (but I was kind of glad, I could disconnect a bit. But 4G is reachable) A lot of stairs (not recommended to people with disabilities)
Review 18:Great location Kind staff Simple but nice Italian breakfast with an nice view on the sea Two terraces (one with a couple of deckchairs)
Review 19:Not really would have been nice to have air conditioning if there was one thing.
Review 20:The location, staff and charm of the hotel as it blended in beautifully with it's surroundings.
Review 21:Room had too much furniture which made it small and was very basic with only one small window. At booking we expected a room with a private terrace but when we arrived that is not what we were provided. When questioned the younger man gave us attitude about it. The room was extremely clean but it was like staying in a box... not even a picture on the walls! Not what we expected
Review 22:Location was great and building was unique with lots of terraces.
Review 23:It would not be good if you could not climb stairs.
Review 24:Very friendly and helpful people running the hotel. Room not "luxury", but has everything you need.
Review 25:Facilities are basic, but perfectly adequate. Breakfast also basic, but served with a smile.
Review 26:Location could not be better. Proprietors were super helpful and welcoming. Charming, no-frills hotel with lots of character. Would recommend room 3, which has a balcony with view of the bay (some other rooms face to the rear). Free parking nearby.
Review 27:close to boat docks, accessible to pedestrian area, nice public terraces on the grounds with view of the ocean, friendly and helpful service, nice atmosphere for breakfast, spacious room, bar inside hotel for snacks
Review 28:Wifi only available at reception. When handed key back thought everything was ok as nothing was said to us but then was charged extra for not checking out properly.
Review 29:Location
Review 30:Everything is fine. This is not a 'luxury place', but it's location and character more than compensate that.Surrounding stone walls, shutters and fan were sufficient even if the room was not air conditioned
Review 31:central location in a charming port, great view from a balcony, safe garage (remote location compensated by owner assistance with luggage transportation); good value for money.
Review 32:Steps but without these you would not have the views
Review 33:Location views from the terraces. This is a quirky hotel built into the walls of Portovenere. There are numerous terraces to sit on with chairs and sun beds. This is right in beautiful Portovenere.
Review 34:Too many stairs. Had to climb at least three flights of very steep steps. No air conditioning.
Review 35:Beautiful spot and great location. Owners were very nice and helpful.
Review 36:I liked the hotel style and the ambiance. A part of the hotel occupies a bastion of the fortress from Portovenere. It could be a very romantic experience for everyone.
Review 37:Great location next to the trail for hiking. Nice view from the balcony.
Review 38:No space in room for 4 people, extremely tight. Poor breakfast Very old looking propierty
Review 39:Lots of stairs, but they're good exercise.
Review 40:Amazing views from balcony rooms.
Review 41:Location of hotel and the views from the room and breakfast area.
Review 42:The location was fantastic but it was the staff that really made it wonderful - they were very friendly and went out of their way to help
Review 43:lack of air conditioning
Review 44:location
Review 45:The charm and character of the hotel. And Igor and his parents were so accomodating
Review 46:Freindky
Review 47:a lot of stairs, morning bells
Review 48:Excellent location, best ever seen personal.
Review 49:Not staying another night or two.
Review 50:the charming, no-nonsense hotel owners and enjoying the fine breakfast on the pretty balcony overlooking the port.
