Reviews for Astor Hotel Motel

Review 1:I stayed there on the way down to melbourne and on the way back. On the way down not a problem we were at the back away from the main road and pub. On the way back and after a very long drive we were put in the room closest to the road and drive way. Ok, luck of the draw when staying at a motel. Unfortunately there was a function at the pub and my room was litterally across a drive way from it. The noise, the language, the cars spinning out of the carpark. We didn't get to sleep until the pub closed. Not great for another long day on the road the next day. I would recommend they do not sell that room when they have a function on.

Review 2:It was great to be close to shops.

Review 3:Finding how to checkin after 6pm.

Review 4:Great sized family room with a double and 2 singles. Perfect for a family with older children. Perfect to break the trip to and from Melbourne.

Review 5:Check in wasn't a great experience, had to go into the bar and find someone to give is the key.

Review 6:The bed was very comfortable and it was hard to go past the price

Review 7:Can be loud on weekend nights from Pub patrons but I knew that before I booked. I lived in Albury in my younger days and The Astor was a popular place to have a meal & night out then.

Review 8:Bistro well priced and food lovely. Room serviced every day with new towels etc. very nice & polite cleaning ladies. Will stay again for sure.

Review 9:Noisy air conditioner, hand basin in bedroom rather than in bathroom, curtains did not cover the window adequately, impacting on privacy. Not enough parking close to accommodation. Drinking glasses would have been good in addition to tea cups.

Review 10:Smoking allowed within reasonable distance, value for money. Relatively central location. Relaxed atmosphere, no long lists of rules! It was good not to see a lot of do's and dont's. The beer garden was comfortable and good to relax in. Meals were good value for money.

Review 11:The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable and it was difficult to find someone to help check us in at reception. The rooms were very small and the hot water for the shower was hit and miss.

Review 12:The service is great! Myself and my friends always come here and absolutely love it every time. Always let us have late check outs as we always go out that night and are just generally great and friendly to us!

Review 13:The smell of the cleaning fluid used to clean the room was a little on the nose. Trying to navigate the TV channels locate the pay per view stations was difficult

Review 14:Service was as expected, professional, courteous and efficient. Meals were good value for money.

Review 15:Advertised as having wifi in all rooms. Didn't manage to connect once despite seeking assistance on the matter. Reception rarely on station over the weekend. Better value hotel 50m away.

Review 16:Centrally located in Albury.

Review 17:The room smelt abit dusty like it's been closed up for years, and the doonas need to be updated and the mattresses

Review 18:It was nice to be able to go to the pub and relax and just walk straight out into your room

Review 19:I was very happy with the central location, the value for money budget accommodation and the friendly helpful staff. The bistro offered good food at affordable prices which saved me having to look around for somewhere to eat while on a short stay. A great place to stay for the traveller or budget conscious. I will be staying again if I am down that way.

Review 20:We were suppose to be travelling by motorcycle, but the weather made us drive. The reason we picked the Astor was the location and being able to to get a good quality meal without having to get all our bike gear on. It was also great for being able to go for a short walk to the main shopping area too.

Review 21:No hot water for a shower, made several attempts. Managed with the large basin and the electric jug.

Review 22:Clean room that had been refurbished recently. Very comfortable bed. Would stay there again, for convenience and the reasonable rate.

Review 23:I am unable to find anything wrong with my 4 night stay. I didn't spend much time during daylight hours in the vicinity as I was there to meet with family & friends during this time - then back to Maitland. Great times. That is my 3rd stay at the Astor in 2 years.

Review 24:With those cool nights (4) I found the bed very warm & very comfortable. But all the staff were very helpful at all times. I had trouble with the Wi-Fi for my laptop and Stephen from reception came to my aid immediately.

Review 25:Good convenient value- for- money place to stop over for the night on the way up further north . Easy to find late at night when tired. Just needed a place to sleep really, and staff very accommodating regarding our late night check in. Friendly voice on the other end of the phone.

Review 26:the noise mad from revellers leaving the pub but that's to be expected with accommodation like this

Review 27:You get what you pay for and this suited my needs. A quick shower and sleep before I kept on driving south.

Review 28:Absolutely everything! It was such an easy place to find, the staff were very friendly, heater was perfect for night time!! And it was a very smooth check in and check out process! Overall really happy :)

Review 29:I mentioned this ot staff....the shower took about 10 minutes to become warm....HUGE waste of precious water, considering the HUME DAM is suffering from Climate Change!

Review 30:Locality for the adventures I wanted to under take. having the Bistro attached was great. Meals very good.

Review 31:We were running late, very late and staff were helpful and ensured that we were able to get into our rooms when we arrived. The rooms were warm and very clean. We had a restful night and staff were helpful in the morning with local information.

Review 32:the airconditioner was really noisy and if you turned it off you could hear the noise from the next room's a/c

Review 33:Electric blankets were amazing!!!

Review 34:Great location just off the highway with free parking where a high top van fits. Attached restaurant means you don't have to leave for breakfast or dinner and the meals are good.

Review 35:Very good value for money I left my phone charger and thought oh well that's gone for sure. I was pleasantly surprised they had it a month later when I stayed again

Review 36:It may have been a one of situ, but the night we stayed was unbearable, an incredibly loud compressor cutting in and out at 3 min intervals, 3 on 3 off until 2.30am ?? There was a lot of angry folks leaving in morning. We should have been payed to stay! !!!!!

Review 37:We were just too tired next morning to like anything

Review 38:nothing to fault

Review 39:This is excellent budget accommodation that has bistro meals that are also great value. All up very happy, clean with all services for a good nights sleep.

Review 40:Wifi did not work. Cleaning staff started cleaning outside the room at 8.30 and were very noisy. Housekeeping knocked on the door at 9am to clean the room when check out was 10.

Review 41:location, cheap and clean.

Review 42:Loud aircon, hand basin in room rather than toilet/bathroom, really loud drunken people yelling, swearing, banging doors and vomitting during the night because it's part of a pub

Review 43:Cheap, great water pressure in shower

Review 44:Setting up a room tab was awkward, and an in-room breakfast seemed to confuse the staff. It was hard to configure the wifi, but no biggie

Review 45:Loved the meals - very tasty, huge servings, great value for money. Beds were comfy - not a timber plank like you usually get in a motel. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 46:Curtains do not maintain privacy...had to change rooms as the shower head was not functioning correctly

Review 47:Bar staff lady who attended to me most helpful and attentive with a good customer attitude..

Review 48:The Astor, being a 'hotel-motel, has the advantages of being able to offer clients a drink and a meal in its very reasonably priced bistro. I enjoyed a big breakfast at the very economical rate of $12 before going on my way. There was also a nice beer garden which would certainly come into its own in the summertime.

Review 49:noise from party, but we did have a room at the front and the music wasnt too loud.

Review 50:good location close to netball courts. comfortable and clean. good value for money. hot shower.

Review 51:I liked the area we were staying in. It was really close to everything especially the hockey fields where we were most of the day The food was great and you couldn't hear the traffic either. Great place for the money.

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:We were traveling and to get to the our destination sand be able to have dinner in the bistro by the way great food and a great price was very easy thank you

Review 54:there is nothing to quote for dislike. It is just suggestions: the carpets and sink need to be chaged as they seems to be very old.

Review 55:We were attending my son's basketball tournement. the room was clean neat and tidy and so was the bathroom. Good service. Staff helpful. Quiet and central location. Will surely restay when revisiting Albury. Though there was a bisto. did not get the opportunity to try the food. Heard the food is good too

Review 56:Very Noisy for a Wednesday night, lots of people running back and forth and doors banging not to mention cars starting up throughout the night.

Review 57:The Restaurant was very good, food delicious, Chef loud and grumpy.

Review 58:Wasn't aware of free Wi Fi ?? Grown up son (20 yr old) would've enjoyed this facility if known.

Review 59:Easy to get around Albury. Close to main street and take away / Subway right next door.

Review 60:Nothing I didn't like.

Review 61:Immediately we were happy with the facilities in the room, the bed was great, just right for the price and the location was great because of the excellent pizza shop right next door. Definitely would recommend the Astor!

Review 62:No one in the reception area when ever we went to make any inquiries always had to go to the bar to see if we could find assistance. My opinion if you have a reception area it should have some one near by for quests enquiries especially at check in and out times

Review 63:Motel location was ideal for our purpose and the bed was very comfortable as was the bar service

Review 64:I have previously booked a specific room and not been allocated it. On inquiring about the reason I was advised that it had been allocated to another party.

Review 65:see above

Review 66:Conveniently located with great bistro and beer garden! Staff were friendly and our meals were fantastic. The King bed was comfy and no outside noise ensured a sound sleep. We will stay here again next time we pass through Albury.

Review 67:Main asset is value for money. Room size is 'tight'; chipped washbasin and a TV remote that needed Herculean effort to work (probably low batteries) didn't impress. Bistro food in the evening reasonable, though a long walk for a drink as the bistro's bar was closed. Breakfast another matter: dried out scrambled eggs, overloaded bacon and, if you add a cereal, you are up for $18. But the worst, by far, was a machine that allegedly serves 'coffee'. The nearest this thing has ever been to a coffee bean is that it once received an email from one in Brazil. Awful! But you get what you pay for…

Review 68:Noise from bar most nights and band playing till well after midnight on Saturday

Review 69:Very comfortable room, great bed, plenty of towels, good room servicing. Very good value for money.

Review 70:The location of the hotel - close to Albury CBD and all conveniences. Very simple, clean, economical accommodation. We were travelling through so all we needed was a bed for the night and a nice hot shower.

Review 71:on arrival the reception was closed went to the bottle shop and the young lady was a little naive .

Review 72:You really cannot complain as you are getting value for money and every thing you need is at your finger tips.

Review 73:Not being able to park right outside the room. The fridge was too close to my side of the bed.

Review 74:The Astor was really easy to find just off the freeway. A very small room but it was great value at $75.

Review 75:Reception through bottle shop at 3:20pm.Should be there all the time. Access to level was a trick till you figured it out. Staff good and efficient but not overly friendly - a smile wouldn't hurt. or "How was your stay? Bed comfortable?" Just pleasantries would be nice.

Review 76:Liked the convenience of the motel. Room was good. Air con very efficient. Price!!!! Although I didn't have food the cost was very reasonable

Review 77:The airconditioner from the main building is very noisy at night! The curtain on the window was too small and did not block out much light at night making it a bit hard to sleep.

Review 78:It was good to be so close to the main street, only 10 minute walk. The bar and bistro on the site are a great idea. Easy access to the freeway and not far from the station if you use the train.

Review 79:Cannot think of anything

Review 80:Breakfasts of bacon and eggs outstanding plus lovely lady doing the cooking. We liked the ease of having the bar for drinks, the dining room for a meal plus comfortable rooms. Good value for money

Review 81:The cockaroach on wakeing in the morning although he did seem friendly I also know they are almost impossible to eradicate completely.

Review 82:Loved the bistro & bar amenities rooms were good and the staff were excellent could not fault my stay from a travelling busines point of view will definately stay here again on my next trip to the Riverina.

Review 83:For a great deal, there is not much to dislike.

Review 84:There is plenty of parking, clean bedsheets and room. It caters for the family at a great price. Best of all, it is not too far from the Chinese Panda restaurant on the main street where great Chinese food can be found.

Review 85:the second night of our stay was a thursday, but obviously a night for drinking, i went outside for a cigarette at 1am while i was out there i almost got urinated on by a drunk man peeing over the balcony, our foxtel didn't work i told reception the next day they didn't offer even a discount on our room, they did nothing.........not impressed

Review 86:the food at the astor is great, affordable convienient

Review 87:Location was great, easy walk to CBD and close to sporting venue. Friendly, helpful staff, value for money meals with a good variety and generous serve. Good place to stay for one or two nights but not so much for the five we booked with a child in tow.

Review 88:Rooms need better attention. We discovered three blown lights. When we asked for assistance we were told that OH&S forbade anyone on staff (our ourselves) to replace the globes. Perhaps there should be a trained & licensed staff member on each shift.

Review 89:Price is good. Food is fair to good. Quiet at night, bit noisy when council workers leave their rooms early in the morning.

Review 90:No toaster.walls a bit thin could hear neighbours through them.

Review 91:The meals and being so close to town made this one of the better places I have stayed at .

Review 92:A local football club were having an end of year celebration the same night and were very noisy, but that was just bad luck I suppose.

Review 93:The Friday night bistro was great value also the breakfast.

Review 94:Noise from other guests during night. Walls 'thin'. (It seemed to be a busy time!) room needs some attention. E.g. Around sink

Review 95:Clean room, economical, walking distance to Albury centre and close to where we wanted to be. Helpful friendly staff. Felt safe.

Review 96:out-of-date furnitures not typical a motel, its a bar (front) and aparments (behind) consider its an old motel, the room looks not quite clean at all.

Review 97:Staff is quite friendly, even we check-in quite late. She still help us to point out some useful infomation. Has foxtel

Review 98:Would have been great to open the blinds on the windows but there was a privacy issue, but for the price we understood.

Review 99:The bistro and "specials" meal pricing. Location was great, easy to find.

Review 100:Air conditioner very noisy, TV reception poor; new tiles in bathroom slippy

Review 101:Not expensive; smooth check-in; quick service at bistro with tasty plain food.

Review 102:Because of a storm, my air con was a bit noisy. Otherwise, all good. It is not a fancy motel, but for the price, you shouldn't expect it to be. More than adequate.

Review 103:It was great for a group - we had 5 rooms, had a drink in the bar and ate in the bistro for dinner and breakfast. Great value for money, and the rooms were comfortable, food was good and staff friendly. Also free on-site parking and Wi-Fi.

Review 104:having to walk through pub area to book in for room lots of workman staying there very noisy

Review 105:cheap room close to shops easy to find and having bistro close by great stop over on way to sydney

Review 106:Slow service for breakfast at the bistro on Sunday morning.

Review 107:The quick help given by John when our TV didn't work. The catering the Astor provides for hotspurs

Review 108:Booking was for downstairs, for disability, was given a upstairs room, took ages to get up, hoping this won't happen again.

Review 109:were happy with accommodation, great price, comfy and clean, handy location.

Review 110:I had tried ringing reception for several hours to give an estimated time of arrival and to order room service as we were arriving late into evening but was unable to make contact. Luckily there was a Subway across the street.

Review 111:The room was a welcome sight after a very long day.. Excellent hot water pressure in shower. Room clean and bed was comfortable. In a good location.

Review 112:Fan in the bathroom too noisy. Old style air conditioner, including in neighboring rooms, much too noisy. Drunk patrons socializing/smoking/drinking outside their rooms 'till late had no respect for others needing to sleep. Crazy night of rattling AC's and loud, pissed, selfish patrons. Seven hour drive the next day.

Review 113:Airconditioner extremely noisy in our room it would come in with a loud bang. We had to get up in the night and turn it off. Not enough powerpoints.

Review 114:Clean, comfortable and meals lovely, wifi available, very affordable.

Review 115:Wifi did not work in room. Air Con/Heat unit very noisy.

Review 116:Arived late and left early, but no problem for staff. Basic motel but well maintained. Bistro and Bar look good, but no chance to try.

Review 117:Outside.stairwell very dirty "ie"cigarette butts on stairtreads dirt and matter on landings, chicken bones on ground to stair entrance we went to check out room after this to see if it would be suitable we found the room satisfactory

Review 118:Valued for money, neat and clean.

Review 119:Couldn't connect to wifi and wasn't given an option to move rooms till last/ third night although I complained from the start. Water took ages to warm in shower. Plastic cutlery Lack of power points. Couldn't get prime on TV. Staff not very helpful.

Review 120:Location Room was clean

Review 121:A bit noisy due to the bar. No food after 9pm.

Review 130:Great location clean, well priced, and not bad food either
